I've been here several times hoping that it would live up to my expectations but sadly I've never been impressed. I think the entire staff should go to an actual speakeasy or any bar where bartenders view their job as a craft. There's room for improvement all around & I feel like it still hasn't found its identity. On the upside, it's never packed. I would recommend this place to visit at least once. Sometimes it is painful to write a one star review. This will be significantly less painful than the experience we had on Saturday night. As an individual who has been following the construction and opening of the Omni Louisville Hotel, this one experience has been more than disappointing. My folks, husband and I came over to the Omni to wander around prior to meeting two other friends at 6:30pm in Shhh... the Speakeasy. Our wandering ended earlier than anticipated so we ended up getting to our destination a little before 6pm. The speakeasy is identified by a sign that says Shhh... and then you walk around the corner and into the bar. There was a woman at the door of which one would assume was a hostess. We told her we would have 6 people and she said take a seat anywhere. As you walk in the four bowling lanes are located on the right with the bathroom and bar on the left. There is also a longer hallway with additional seating. We had spotted two couches located in the back right that would comfortably sit our 6. As we walked back, there were people (other patrons) putting empty drinks, party bags of some time and bottles on the table at which we would be sitting. They had found a private spot located across from us that would hold a larger group and there were at least ten of them. They apologized to us for putting it there and we told them no problem we will have someone clear it up. Twenty minutes go by and no one shows up for drinks for us (nor our now 10 new friends) or to clean the table. We take turns finding someone. We had someone come by and remove like three bottles. And then would come back 5 minutes later and try to remove three more. It was ridiculous. Finally after 40 minutes, the table was cleared. But still not drink order taken. Our waitress finally comes. We shared our frustrations and then order our drinks. The drinks...how do I put it... were terrible. My dad liked his though so there was one saving grace. The pours were light for the price. My dirty martini was awful, but I drank it anyways. I had seen the theme and realized I'd never see another drink if I attempted to have it adjusted. The ten friends we had also were unimpressed by the entire situation. I don't think they would even have the waitress take their orders. They kept going up to the bar. So we finished one round and we realize where the heck are our two friends?! It was 10 after they should have been there and they are not late people. I told my mom she should go out into the lobby since cell service was spotty and see if she had a text or call from them. Nope! The bar had closed a door at the front and told everyone they were at capacity. We were told we could take our drinks and leave the bar and meet our friends elsewhere. Say what?! This bar was more empty than I've ever seen a bar and we had room for them no problem. My dad ended up sneaking them in through the restaurant that connected to the speakeasy. We had one more drink each, enjoyed the company together (best part of it all) and then I had to track our waitress down at the cash register in order to get out of this place. Sadly, as you read, many people have had similar experiences at the Omni's various restaurants and bars. All I can say for the Omni in Louisville is I really hope they can pull it together in about 4 weeks before the Derby Clientele comes in. They have a lot of work to do! read more

Not a fan at all. We went on a Saturday night so it was understandably busy and there was a wait to get in which is fine. After waiting for about 30 minutes we got in thinking this would be a low key speak easy. Instead it's a loud bar with no music and no sound proofing on the walls or ceiling. This issue is exacerbated by the bowling alley inside of this bar which makes zero sense with the rest of the theme it tries to portray. There is also a lack of seating so a good amount of people just had to stand around awkwardly while the staff tried to weave through them. For the price, I would rather go to Jimmy Can't Dance or even the new Hell or High Water versus this bar. read more

Super cool hidden bar and bowling inside the hotel. It's not like regular bowling with gross shoes and slick bowling balls...it's upscale. Good cocktails, too. Great place to take out of town guests for something entertaining but still classy. read more

Drinks were lacking with only 2 locally bottled beers. Really wanted to bowl but $100/hr is astronomically high. Bowling/drinks were one of the biggest reasons I wanted to stay at the hotel. The speakeasy also had both doors wide open so hardly a speakeasy. Looks like I will be choosing another hotel next week. read more

This is the speakeasy/bowling alley in the new Omni downtown. Part of my bad experience here may be due to its newness, so I'll preface my review with that disclaimer. One, the secret door was broken and then no one was working the door that actually lets you in. This left us knocking on the door for a few minutes and only able to enter when others exited. There was then no host at the host stand and we were left having to again work things out for ourselves. We eventually were able to find a server and let her know we'd like to bowl. While she cleaned the space, my date got us drinks at the bar. My glass of wine was really only half a glass; maybe the bartender was finishing off a bottle and didn't want to open a new one but you shouldn't skimp on a $10+ drink. Another in my party ordered the $15 old fashioned which was also a pretty small pour. We had to ask the server for waters which came ranging from 1/3 to 1/2 a glass full and no ice...not to be petty but a bar should at least be able to handle a decent glass of water. In terms of bowling, it was fun to bowl in a bar but I wouldn't recommend it if you take bowling somewhat seriously. The lanes are shorter than average, the lighting is dim and the lanes are reflective which makes it difficult to direct your ball, and the ball return is right next to where you throw therefore crowding you. Finally, when it came time to pay, we were shocked to learn that the cost was $100 for an hour of bowling! This should have been stated from the beginning. All in all, in spite of the pretty cool atmosphere, the poor service, small drinks, and ridiculous expense will keep me from returning in the future. read more

I expected more from this apparently bipolar place. The seating and decor is set up for the cozy conversation that you might expect from a speakeasy but that mood is destroyed by the overwhelming noise from the bowling alley and much too bright lighting. Plus $50 for three drinks in Louisville seems a bit crazy when the space doesn't live up to expectation. Ultimately it's somewhat interesting if you're staying in the hotel otherwise there are better options. read more

Went here for drinks with friends after eating at Porch down the road. Very busy bar, limited seating, nice ambiance. We had to wait in line to get in, but the wait wasn't long. Drinks were somewhat pricey but well made, and decent pours for wine. I love the concept, but $100/hr for bowling is not worth it in my opinion. If the price came down on the bowling, my friends and I would absolutely split the cost to enjoy that. Between the limited space, wait time, and price point, not sure it's worth the regular visit. Would be a great date night or anniversary trip, but nothing I could frequent. read more

We stayed at hotel for 3 nights for a bigger wedding function and spent time at the bar 2 of the nights, getting there around midnight. The bar has a good setup and drink list but the bartenders come off very rude and ruin the experience. Their customer interaction is curt, and comes off like they are annoyed at big drink orders or group functions. They seem to be easily bothered by anything. For as much time and money we spent there, it was a bit disappointing to experience. It's definitely not all of them, but there were at least two of them with Friday/Saturday shifts who spoiled the experience for many of us. I think until they fix that, the bar will fall short of realizing it's potential. read more

I hate writing a one star review about the speakeasy, but it was more of a speak loudly. When you enter there is writing that says "shhhh" it gives the illusion of a true speakeasy, but it was far from. There was a podium with no one standing behind it. After waiting a couple minutes we assumed it would be okay to just walk in. It was so noisy. The bar area seemed very little and overcrowded. The televisions were going and there was even a bowling alley inside. Maybe I have been spoiled by other speakeasies in the area but this was not a place where I felt cozy or inviting. We wondered around for a while, and although there was open seating nowhere seemed comfortable. I had very high hopes especially being that speakeasy's are becoming more popular. I was not satisfied with the experience at all. I would not recommend this speakeasy for a nice place to lounge and enjoy company. However if you want bowling, and television as distractions and a loud environment it's the right place to go. read more

Way overrated. Drink service is REALLY slow and it is not a real "speakeasy" even in 2018 standards. They say no reservations but tables say "reserved." Screw that; grab any open table and enjoy ..... but be prepared to wait forever for service. Not worth it. Go somewhere else. read more

I'm so sad over the bad reviews so far! I think people are just not used to a club environment in Louisville and waiting for their drink, but I am. Don't just sit around waiting for a waitress to attend to you if it's a BAR. Hello?! Go up to the bar and get something! Now to get the negatives out of the way....It was a LONG wait, but it was match night for would be doctors, and I think a bunch of folks chose the Omni to celebrate. That's good business. The one thing I was annoyed with was when I ordered, they didn't have Early Times 100 bourbon, but that is hard to find even if it is in season right now. However, the absolute positives were the copper barware was really stylish similar to the Angel's Envy private bar. I enjoyed the company, the snappy suits and the decent prices. I paid 38 with tip for a GIANT glass of good ass Malbec, an Old Fashioned, and Midori Sour with Evan Williams bourbon, so average, 11 per drink, so what do you expect people? It was fun. read more

Was in there celebrating my birthday everything was amazing except a lady who I believe was intoxicated. There were people watching the NBA game and she would scream really loudly about how she hated LJ and other loud antics. I believe at one point the manager even spoke to her about it. She started interrupting others before leaving. Sarabeth and the other bartender I believe his name was Lance were amazing, and thank you to the manager for standing up to a rude and obnoxious guest.
