I used Pin Up Cakes for my wedding and loved how my cake turned out! Everything was done online and was super easy. I sent them inspiration pictures of what I wanted and for how many people. I wanted a smaller cake for just me, my husband and our wedding party as we were doing sheet cake for the guests. After sending the pictures, they gave me different options and broke it down by how much each would cost. I loved that they did that! Since I wanted a 2 tier cake, but it was only for 12 people, they gave me the option to make the top tier out of styrofoam to cut costs! They also gave me options on if I wanted them to make flowers out of fondant, or I could bring them flowers and they would put it on, or I could have my florist do it at the venue. This also helped cut cost. I ended up with a strawberry cake with chocolate frosting and it was so delicious! I'm not a big fondant person so I was worried I wasn't going to like that part, but it was honestly so thin and not super sweet which I was very happy about.

a little girl sitting at a table with a unicorn cake

I'm new to the area and am still finding my way around the city. My daughter's 5th birthday was coming up and we wanted to get her a unicorn cake because like most kids, that's her thing right now. My friend has been living here for quite sometime and recommended Pin Up Cakes. She said she hadn't tried it herself but had heard good things. Since my options were limited due to covid, and I only needed a small cake, just for my daughter to feel special, I decided to try them out. I ended up ordering a 6" cake that was enough for 10-12 people. I felt it was a little pricey, but this was my first time ordering a specialty cake and had nothing to compare it to. I usually go to Costco for our cakes, so maybe the price was fair, and that's why I'm not knocking any stars for price. The transaction was smooth and sweet, as far as leaving deposit and stuff. The girls were very friend over the phone, email and in person. I sent them a picture of the cake I wanted and they totally delivered. I personally the thought the cake tasted amazing. I'm not a fan of fondant and even that tasted pretty good to me, my brother and sister liked everything, except the fondant, they said it was a bit thick, but I totally disagreed. The "bread" part, sorry I don't know the proper cake terminology, tasted fresh, not stale. Everyone seemed to enjoy it. My baby's first birthday is coming up next month and I will most definitely be placing an order for her cake with them. I guess it's time to kiss those Costco cakes goodbye, I ain't about that life no' mo.'

We've now used Pin Up Cakes twice for our son's birthday. This time around, we asked for a Jurassic Park cake. We provided the gate and dino toys, and they did the two tiers with leaf and rock accents and printed name sign. Well made, on time, and decently priced. And great tasting. Thank you!

This was my first time ordering a cake from here. I have been using the same bakery for years but unfortunately they had shut down. I was so nervous to try a new bakery, however I just found my new go to bakery! First off, the cake was absolutely perfect! I sent two pictures and asked them to combine the two photos into one cake. It looks EXACTLY like the pictures I sent. When my three year old saw it, his eyes lit up and he yelled out "WOWWWWWW!" Now, not only did it look amazing, IT TASTED ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS! We ordered a cookies and cream cake with fudge filling. The cake was so soft and moist and the fudge filling was perfect. The cake was an absolute hit with all our guests! We look forward to coming here again for our future events!

This bakery is definitely a hidden gem. They are extremely talented, professional, and work hard to bring your vision to life. If you go in to the store you will see several sample designs on display. They have unique and cute cake, cookie, and cupcake designs for every occasion. If you're looking for a quick bite they have a few ready made treats that they sell in store. Personally, the Lemon Bars are my favorite. Their lemon bars made my Kim Possible dreams comes true. They also have the chewiest and richest brownies I've ever tasted. Keep in mind they don't have a large selection, but that is due to that fact that they are a "For Order" bakery. Both of the women who work here are extremely kind, helpful, and honest. If you have any questions give them a call and they'll be quick to answer and assist you. Make sure to try something while you're there. You won't be disappointed.

All-in-all ~ THE BEST CAKE WE'VE EVER TASTED! Our Father's Birthday cake was simply awesome! The design and decadence of our cake was phenomenal. The total execution of the design and incredible detail is impeccable. My family would personally like to applaud you and wish you nothing but continued success! I pray that you really consider my words and suggestions to you yesterday...I know those heart changes will indeed elevate you - to a WHOLE NOTHER LEVEL!

I have been buying cakes, cupcakes and cake pops from here for 6 years and I have to say they are amazing. I have received compliments from my family and friends for the looks, taste and how amazing the cakes are. I am a loyal customer for life. You girls are so great. I would highly recommend them to any one. they are the whole package. Thank you for making everything beyond expectations.

Talented, professional and tasty, if your looking for a bakery, you will be satisfied/happy with this place. The lemon bars were very good. Thanks for the nice tasty treats and nicely tasty cake.

Pinup cakes surpassed my expectations. Not only was the cake beautiful, but it tasted really good. We picked the red velvet with cream cheese and the marble with raspberry & whip. Both were delicious. The cake was the exact duplicate of a picture i provided. However, I did not have them add the large characters since I have smal princess figurines I wanted to add. I was truly happy with the outcome, as were my guests. They did the cookies too exactly what we hoped to have. I will continue to order from them. They were very friendly in addition to their amazing work. They were very patient with me as well, which I appreciate since I wasn't sure if we would be able to squeeze extra items into the budget. I recommend them to anyone looking for a really amazing looking cake. It was a bit higher priced than I am used to, but their work was worth it.

I catered a wedding few days ago & as a Chef I am super picky about desserts. Found out the most incredible coconut butter wedding cake I've ever tasted in my life came from this place. I can't say enough about how excellent and moist yet super rich & tasty this cake was. I think we found our new special occasion cake place

    Jess L.

Pin Up Cakes exceeded my expectations on our cake request. The details on the cake were so accurate. The taste even better. When we picked up the cake they were very good about Covid regulation's. We simply knocked on the door to let them know we were there for pick up and they asked us to bring our car to the front and she brought the cake to us, boxed up and ready to go. We'll definitely be going back for more cake!!!

MOST WELL-DESERVED REVIEW! Aileen is an incredible human being. Words can not convey how much I admire her and her work. Our experience has always been positive with Pinup Cakes. The quality of the work is phenomenal. My favorite combo for cake and filling is her Bavarian cream with vanilla or red velvet cake. Even though, I no longer reside near Whittier, I will drive 45 min each way to pick up my children's birthday cakes from PUC. Sadly, due to the corona virus, we have not been able to place an order for nearly three years. I was so elated to know that Alieen and her staff had weathered the storm, and were still in business creating amazing memories for our families. I'm including photo of a cake that they did for my daughter pre-covid, and a cake that she did for my son inMay, 2022. Please keep in mind that I called her merely a week before the actual party and she produced a masterpiece. No other cake shop would have done the same. Alieen, I look forward to working with you again in October. With my warmest regards!!!! Annie

I really really dislike these cakes and the horrible customer service when you tell them that there.cakes taste like butter instead of buttercream and the fondant is thicker then the cake layers!!! So with both being so thick and no cake, makes these cakes so horrible, no one at your party even eats it!!! I will NEVER purchase one of there high priced, grossly tasting cakes ever again!! So if you have read this and many other reviews that say basically the same thing about these horrible cakes, then that's all you need to never even attempt to buy a cake from here!!! Believe me, you will truly be disappointed and wish you had paid attention to the reviews!! Oh and this is what a cake is supposed to look like in the picture I'm posting with this review that I bought from another bakery!! And it was delicious!!! Everyone ate it and enjoyed it!! And asked where I got it from!!!

The cheapest and simplest one is the Portuguese egg tart and the more fancy ones are either $1.75 or $2. I tried all of them: Portuguese egg tart, cheese tart, caramel croissant tart, tiramisu tart, berry tart, and coconut tart (my favorite). We also got the salted egg yolk croissant for only $1 which is a steal although I wish it was a tad bit sweeter to balance out the salt. It was a smooth process to go in and buy. They also have a variety of specialty desserts that are in the $8 price range if you want something more extravagant. I tried the King Panda which was filled with cream cheese mousse. Out the of the 4 items, tiramisu stood out the most. It has a strong cacao flavor, not overly sweet and heavy. The caramel egg tart is just alright, it is flaky if you eat it warm or toast it again at home. The regular egg tart is 99 cents, it's not bad but definitely not amazing. I think you can't expect too much with that price. The osmanthus pear cheesecake was my least favorite. It is very sweet and heavy, the filling/syrup that they use is too overwhelming. The store was simple and you can smell the baked goods as you walked in to the store. The service was just average, the staff were not very welcoming. Parking could be a problem. Overall, I would give this place a 3.5/5, not a must go place. Their items are just average. If you are looking for something affordability over quality and taste then this is the place to go.

I didn't try the custard cream bread because my younger brothers ate it, so I can't really comment on the taste. I also haven't tried the pecan pie yet. Lately, Dubai chocolate cookies have been extremely popular and trendy, so I asked whether this bakery had them. They said yes, so I bought one for $6.75. However, when I tried it this morning, it was absolutely not a Dubai chocolate cookie. It was basically just a chocolate pie. There was no pistachio flavor at all, and no pistachios inside--just a very ordinary chocolate pie. That part was extremely disappointing. Also, yesterday I asked the bakery if they could provide paper plates so we could cut and share the pastries, but she said they didn't have any. My sister didn't even want to answer which cake was worse. So I feel justified to score the cake as 0 in flavor If I didn't want to eat that 99 ranch cake and my sister said this cake was just as bad... Look of the cake: from pervious seasons, the black sesame cake looked really cute! With the spring season, the design changed. I understand the concept but... it's really not that pretty anymore. The green icing looks cheap and the flower on top looks like a weed. Compared to the fruits, nuts, and macaroon decoration from previous season, the design is worse. I bought a cake from Freesia knowing that reviews on Yelp for the taste of the cakes were a hit or miss but my brother-in-law likes black sesame and most of the reviews that mentioned the cake tasting good was of this flavor. I was treating this purchase as an experiment since I was also interested in the mango sago for my husband's upcoming birthday and he likes mango sago. Well, it was a miss. I appreciate the service, convenience, and packaging but an inedible cake is a pass.
