I came to this store because I need chlorine for the pool. Patrick the associate in register was super sweet and attentive. He refilled my empty container and checked me out at the register. He lent me a cart to wheel the container to my car. The refill was about $13 and it was super fast. I was in the store no more than 5 minutes. I forgot to bring a sample of my pool water but they do free water testing here as well. The parking is free and close by. read more

Needed a sign for our condo pool. Although they did not have exactly what we needed, the gentleman who assisted me was very helpful and pleasant. He even called another location to see if they might have it. Up until last year, we had a pool service come in once a week. Can't remember the reason but we decided to come into pinch a penny and try to take care of our pool ourselves. They advices us on everything we needed to know to take care of our pool. Told us what we needed and didn't need, and what we would need eventually. They are never pushy, in fact they suggest money saving ways to do things. The owner once told me that they are not in the business to oversell products, but to be honest and to make it appealing for people to want to maintain their own pools. Ultimately we are their clients. Every employee I've dealt with is super nice and knowledgeable. It takes a bit of investment up front to start maintaining your own pool, but in the long run it saves a lot of money. This little shop has helped us a lot in our learning process. Because this is the first pool store we visited and we were so happy with the service, we've never gone anywhere else. And we won't. read more

Terrible service. Stay as far away as possible. My pool was green three different times in two months. These are the biggest incompetent people you can imagine. They have absolutely zero customer service. Zero accountability. I don't even know how this place is still open. I was going to Leslie's Pool Service before but decided to try it this location out since it was a little bit closer and I regret doing that. They offer great customer service and they aim to please. I don't know much about my pool, pump, and ph levels, but they definitely take the time to explain everything out for you, so that you feel comfortable with everything needed to maintain a BLUE pool. The store has everything you need, and if they don't have it they will order it for you. I recently was having issues with my pump and the staff assisted me in doing all the trouble shooting needed figure out what the issues were, instead of just pushing me to spend money. They definitely try to do everything they can to prevent you from spending money where you don't have to. read more

Customer service is non-existant or grouchy. Missed my pool one week and asked me "how do you know we missed it?" Service people complain from when they arrive until they leave. Said they are spending too much time on my pool. I timed them for 4-weeks. Average time was 12-15 minutes. The last straw was when the service guy told me I should drain my pool until the trees were cut completely down. One day later have new local pool service. read more

Three visits to get a filter cartridge and we were given the wrong filter THREE TIMES. We even took pictures of the housing to show them. When we went back to get a refund (and yes, we were upset) they called the police. Now we are out 75 dollars and several hours. So we were basically ripped off. Terrible. read more

I went in today to return a leaf catcher that the owner recommended. It broke on the second day of use. I did not have my receipt and told them I would bring up my credit card statement to show them the purchase and the day on which was purchased on. The manager there said without a physical receipt they could not return or offer store credit. I find it hard to believe that they wouldn't be able to pull up a receipt from that day with my purchase. I also don't understand why a company would lose a customer for $40. read more

Went in to return 7 empty jugs and refill 1 jug. I was advised that I couldn't get my return refund without a receipt. A flyer posted by the register advertised a decreased refund amount for returned jugs after 30 days WITHOUT a receipt. When I questioned the cashier about the posted policy, he said it was a "personal" policy not to accept the empty jugs, as well as a store policy. I asked to speak to a manager and was told by the cashier that he was the manager. When I asked who was above him, he indicated that the store owner, his mother, Dorelle Norlin, was the owner. I find it interesting that it's the children whose parents give them job opportunities are least concerned about poor customer service... Not to mention, apparently this small business doesn't follow their own posted return policies. Horrible service, shady business practices. I am very upset and disappointed. On 11/19 I was a new customer & purchased acid wash my inground pool, new filter, heat blanket & paid in full $1,186.66 my pool was to be acid washed on Sat 12/9-it was rainy all day so rescheduled for Mon 12/11. Mike did come & drain & acid wash my pool tried a little section for chlorine wash but told me it was not making a difference on stains & did not want me to waste my money which I appreciated. However, later he called & asked me to fill up my pool with water as he had other customers to go to, just put it on low so not to have water overflow. I was at work a little taken back but said OK. which I should not have since I work Mon thru fri 8am not home till 8pm or later. When I got home 9:30 My backyard had company hose on other side of yard, finally found my hose & not able to put on water pipe -figured try next morning Tuesday when it was light. which I did but one end of hose had black sticky tape would not even connect, I left messages Tues & was told owner not in Mike was coming in later., I called back around 5:30pm was told messages given no call back. Today Wednesday 12/14 called store- owner off today, Mike only technician out sick -no call to me at all. When originally speaking with the Owner on 11/19 I was told its a small community, she will remember my name, they were super crazy busy because they did let another employee tech go but when Owner was free did spend time helping go over what I needed and felt it was a good decision choosing them because she was a small business owner in my area (I had 4 other companies give quotes) Now I feel abandon and no customer service at all. I have an empty pool, which I'm having my daughter buy a new hose so I can fill pool up then what? Will they ever call me back to put the chemicals in for pool-I did want monthly service too now what?? How about my heat blanket & reel they were going to set up for me? I have never posted on these sites -Not even sure owner did get message, I will continue to call & if no response go in person on Saturday. if i could give them 0 star, I would, warning do not !!! buy any thing from this store that needs to be installed,i just purchased a pentair pool pump and paid to have it installed,the only reason .they told me, i would have a 30 day warrenty if i installed it,and a 3 year waranty,if they installed it ,so i said ok and had the assistant manerger call another store for a pool timer as well ,so i picked up the timer and met the tech at my home .he installed the pool pump but it wasent working properly.he then just took out the guts out of the casing of the pool timer that i paid 145 and only installed that, leaving me with an empty casing that cost me 50 buck s she should have orded the guts only if thats all he was going to install it would have been 80 dollars for the guts by itself,he then told me i must have a air leak,.and that i should replace the jaden valve ,he insited this is probably the reason the pump is not working properly.so i paid 125 for the jaden valve put it together ,and stilll it was not the issue ,comes to find out .he crossed threaded the union valve causing me this headach .i trird to talk to the owner but she woulent get on the phone.i left messages and she wouldent return my call i 0ver spent400 dollars because of there screw up, i couldent even get through to her ,so i called corperate office.and they said they were going to call her and tell her to call me ,i said to late i have another pool store that values my money and time...do not purchase anything from this location. they are horrible. hope this helps you,.not to mention they are over priced!!!! read more

My brother went to Pinch-A-Penny located at 5479 W. Atlantic Blvd. Margate, FL to buy chlorine for his swimming pool. He went home, used some and put the unused portion on the floor in his garage which has been converted to a bedroom and has carpet. Few weeks later when he entered the room it smelled like chlorine. When he lifted the jug the carpet was soaked with chlorine, and the jug was broken. He went to the store, told the clerk what happened, but he did not give him his money back. Instead he said that my brother threw the jug and that is why it was broken. My brother told him that he didn't do that and explained to him that also the place where the jug was has carpet. Because he was in a hurry and the store is closed to home he bought another one. When he got home he used some and put it in another place in the house. Later on, the pool needed more chlorine and when he lifted this second jug it was also broken. There was basically no chlorine in it. He talked with the clerk about the second jug being broken also. He told him that all the jugs he has bought at the other Pinch-A- Penny store located at 8880 NW 44th St. Sunrise, FL never break. He replied that probably it is made with a different material. To my brother the clerk is accepting that what they are selling is junk. He did not give my brother his money back for this second jug either. Well, my brother told him that they have lost him as a regular customer. Then, he acted like he didn't care. My brother said that he will never go back to that store and he recommends people NOT to go there. The clerk has an "I don't care attitude". They don't care about customer satisfaction and the jugs they have there are just a piece of junk. read more
