Called Pinch A Penny because my pump basket was sucking air. They sent Two technicians who were very friendly and knowledgeable. I thought it was going to be an expensive pump problem. They spent time to examine the whole system and replaced a couple "O" rings and rebuilt a valve. Problem solved. They charged only a reasonable service call. We are in Palm Coast, Florida and had a pool built almost 2 years ago: The builder, Waldhauer & Son, inc did a horrible job finishing the grout around the tiles, we complained 4-5 times and asked them to send a better crew and do a proper job. No response, they ignored the complaints and went into hiding like little cowards. Had to hire another company to re-grout the pool, after 3 attempts it was slightly better, but still mediocre. I demanded the money back and agreed to settle out of court. Now the pool still looks like crap,.. Then I walked into a Pinch-A-Penny store and asked them to take a look. They called the next day and asked if an 11:00 AM appointment would work? The owner Josh Hudanish showed up right @ 11:00 and took a good look at the project, then came back right on time 2 days later with grout contractor who confirmed he could do a better job. I singed the contract and another 2 days later both Josh and Justin showed up right at the agreed time to start the job. (At this point I had tears in my eyes, never seen contractors show up the very time they promised, especially Waldhauer & Sons, they would be a week or two late usually and many times never showed, I waited 4 weeks for the final grouting but it never happened) Long story short, my pool was finished to a much higher standard with Pinch a Penny than the builder could do. I will use Pinch a Penny in Palm Coast again, hat off to their On-Time performance and the workmanship resulting in straight grout lines and clean tiles. read more

I have 3 quotes for my pool refurbishment project. At the end I have decided to go to the store I have been visiting for the last 30 years in the neighborhood Pinch-A Penny at Dr Phillips. To my surprise the whole project was completed within a week as they had promised. The crew was very efficient at every step of process and made sure to clean up the pool area at the end of the workday to make sure safety complies with safety standards. Darshan has visited every day to oversight the project. During the process we realized one of my pool lights was not working due to a water leak. We purchased the new light bulb. His crew member installed the light bulb and gasket for us free of charge to make sure it is working properly before filling the water. I highly recommend Pinch-A Penny at Dr Phillips service. The store is locally owned and operated by knowledgeable Patel's brothers. I am always pleased with their professionalism and customer service every time I visit the store. I recently purchased a home with a pool. As a first time pool owner, I'm really overwhelmed with everything from the chemicals to what tools I need. My husband and I stopped in to this location and they were so friendly and helpful! They gave us several different brochures and pieces of information so we could take it home and digest. We also showed them a photo of our pool, which was a bit on the green side since it had been sitting for a couple of weeks. They told us exactly what to buy and even wrote down the steps for what order we needed to add everything. We also learned about pool school, which is something we are definitely going to be taking advantage of - someone will come out to our house to basically give us a crash course on how to maintain a pool. I've been so impressed with Pinch A Penny. This location has been so helpful over the last couple years. When I call they are eager to talk with me and give me advice. When my pool cleaning company gave me outrageous estimates to fix issues, PAP got the job done at a fraction of the cost. The most recent problem was that my salt cell had malfunctioned. The pool cleaning company said they were going to need to replace the salt cell ($900) or my control system ($1200). I called PAP and they showed up sooner than expected and found out a damn frog had somehow got into the control box and blew a fuse. Problem solved for $125. I'm thankful for Pinch A Pennys honesty and competence. The employees at the sand lake location are top notch. read more

I thought he was holding me up or something so loud almost screaming. No hello do you mind. I have a serious yes a serious health condition which I shared with the taller guy. Really nobody's business. this Short fair skinned young boy has NO Manners at all. Scared the Crap out of me over a Mask. Only the two where in the store I was at least 70 feet from anyone. I do not recommend this store due to the short unpleasant yelling guy that works here. Go to another Pinch A Penny. This store has been so accommodating. No issue installing the pool light I purchased elsewhere. Those other guys, no way. Has to be their sale to schedule an install. My experiences s far is they aren't pushy or indifferent to your needs. Helpful with little regard to if there may be a sale or not. My 8 year old cleaner was happily dismantled to determine if time to junk it, or repair it. I told them this unit had been replaced already, so the intent was keep as a back up. No problem taking the 20 minutes to blow it apart and then trash it! LOL. read more

They serviced my home for over 10 years both when I lived there and when it was turned into a rental. They did a fantastic job and kept things in perfect shape - there were no tenant complaints in 6+ years and my experience was the same! They also were fairly priced for repairs, and very responsive over email and phone. When I was a first time homeowner, they were really helpful in explaining what I needed to do. Amazing friendly service! Had a failing pump and called five pool repair places - one estimated $2,500 over the phone, and the other four never responded. I stopped in here after work, was greeted immediately and they knew exactly what the problem was just from my description. They showed me - on an in-store working demo, no less! - exactly how to pull the motor and bring it in to save the service call. Who does that? Teaches you for free how to do something that saves you from paying them? They did the repair in 20 minutes, saving me $1,800! The individual I spoke with talked me through the problem, and I was able to easily fix it myself, via his instructions. I moved into a new house in Orlando Florida with a pool. When I purchased the house the pool heater was broken and needed to be replaced. I had received in the mail a flyer from a chain called "Pinch A Penny" accompanied by a 15% coupon specifically off "Pool Heaters" . I went into the store and they suggested that someone should come by and take a look at the pool to see what would need to be done. A representative came by and quoted me a $3500 price including install. He also stated that if I wanted to avoid paying taxes on it and I could get a doctor to submit a fraudulent prescription that I needed a jacuzzi for chronic back problems. Of course I said no thanks to that scam. I agreed to have the heater installed but stated I wanted to wait a week or two to make the decision. Two days later someone showed up at my house to install the heater. I gave them a check for the $3500 - 15% along with the coupon + tax. later that day I got a phone call from the respresentative stating that he had already given me a good price and therefore I couldn't use the coupon. I scanned the coupon and there was no mention of anything precluding me from using it. I stated that back to him and the response that I received was that I could only use it in the store!!! Huh? I went into the store to buy it and they are the ones that said they needed to come see it before giving me the quote. Fast forward. A month later I am refinancing my house and I am told by my mortgage broker that Pinch A Penny placed a construction lien on my house for $4700!!!!! No notice from them, no court action, no anything. A construction Lien???!!! They did NO construction on my house and the price was never anywhere near $4700!!!! read more

I have been going to this P-A-P for about 12 years. I take care of my own pool. I have never been to another pool supply store because I don't need to. I have never compared prices because the service and trust here is phenomenal. If I have a pool problem I can call them and based on how I describe things they help me over the phone so I can fix it. If it isn't fixable I can bring in my problem (ex: vacuum) and they will always be fair and trusting about the best and cheapest way to fix it. They will say things like "You don't need a new vacuum. You can fix it for a few dollars". They are friendly and will bring out my full chlorine bottles to my car and not except tips. If they have to come out (pump issue) they fix things up right and fair. They fixed my pump and my water has been crystal clear since. They told me how everything works and what I need to do to keep it running well. They are patient, knowledgable and fair. read more
