I had a chlorine pool years ago with a manual timer...super easy to maintain. My new house had a salt water pool and complicated pump. Plus a filter cartridge that godzilla could not remove to clean. I was forced to deal with it because no one was taking on new clients so forget getting a pool cleaning service....I was IT. The salt water pool was never able to generate enough chlorine as it was always low whenever I had it tested. So I decided to remove the salt water apparatus and install an automatic chlorine feeder. Dan, the man, came and installed that for me and set the pump for me as well. Boy, was that an energy saver as instead of running 10-12 hrs a day, it is running 8 hrs day. My chlorine levels are always in range now. I then asked that my filter cartridge be replaced to something I can actually perform. Kristen said the one I had was notorious for being difficult to remove. Dan came out and replaced the filter cartridge with a Hayward that I can easily handle. I had a leak in the pool equipment which Dan came out and repaired recently. I have had issues with staining in the pool and the staff in the store guided me to the test kit to determine the culprit which was iron. I purchased the iron removal granules and WOW, what a difference! I have always been treated well when I have gone in there and recently purchased a pool cleaner which Dan helped me hook up while he was out fixing the leak in the pool equipment. I am currently waiting on a call back from Kristen to see if they can install a pool rail I purchased. I cannot say enough about Dan, the repairman. I call him Dan, the man, because he truly is "the man" who knows everything related to pools. You are in good hands when he is on the job and I totally trust his judgement and opinion. My pool is crystal clear and will be perfect, once I get the rail installed. Keep up the epic work everyone! You all are doing great! read more

If you are new to pool ownership, as I am, you quickly realize that it's a bit of a science. I did pool maintenance back in college--an indoor pool, where nuns at the local Catholic college did their exercises. No problems. Outdoor pools? That's nun-thing like maintaining an indoor pool. Reece, Kay and the rest of the staff are just the tops. They'll test your water and give you a printout sheet. They've never tried to upsell me into something I didn't need. They know what they're doing, and they consult with one another. And they're not overpriced. And they're happy to help. This is how you run a business. I'm so lucky that I'm within 10 min. of Pinch a Penny Pool Patio Spa, but given my experience, I'd drive an hour to deal exclusively with these folks. It's a look-no-further kind of place. I've got a look-no-further mechanic place and a look-no-further Mexican restaurant, but I don't want to tell you who they are because, you know, suddenly I'd be waiting in line and paying more. Actually, maybe I shouldn't be writing this review for the same reason. You know what? Disregard everything I just said. Seriously, though, you'll be happy to make this your go-to final-stop pool shop. They really are the best. read more

If I could rate them lower I would. My husbands parents have used this store for 20+ years. We purchased a robotic pool cleaner from them to replace the 10 year old one we had also purchased from them. Tomorrow the 1 year warranty expires and I took it yesterday for repair. There is a new owner and they said they would not honor the warranty but would repair it for almost the cost of a new one. It only needs replacement feet. We will never go to that store again. read more

We are having real problems with water testing at this location. There is a young lady here that tested our pool water, telling us the chlorine is high, but continued to sell us shock, green out and chlorine to add to the pool. My mom took a sample back up and the lady refused to test it stating, "I already tested it yesterday. I'm not testing it again." Our pool continued to get greener. Took to AI to ask what to do and it suggested acid. The girl at pinch a penny told us not to add acid. We have been struggling with pool issues and buying chemicals we didn't need for over a month with this girl. Really disappointed. read more
