I have been going here since 2006. Back then I was asked to pay $12.00 to replace a liquid container should it rupture. I did. I returned leaking container on June 01/2026. They wanted me to pay $10.00 again!!! Not happy! Not going back! read more

To begin there are new owners. The old owners and operators worked with us for years with service and products purchased. My wife and I thought we needed a new cap for our chlorine dispenser. When we got home, opened the package and found it was not the proper cap, we went to return it. Keep in mind no where in the store does it say that if you open a package it cannot be returned. In the past with the previous ownership if we had a problem, they were more than helpful to take it back and get us the proper one or give us some money back. Well, this new owner said was it opened I said well yes of course we tried it and it didn't fit. and he said we don't take anything back that's . I wonder if Home Depot says that or any proper business in Sarasota. I would stay far away from this place. They don't know what they're doing especially when we first went to get it they couldn't find where a simple cap was well obviously they gave us the wrong cap. They take no responsibility for anything. I highly recommend against going there, giving them any business because they are not honest. read more

If I could give them zero stars I would! When you first come in they are very helpful but when we contracted them to actually maintain the pool they did a very, very poor job. Our salt water pool wreaked of chlorine after they started and we reached out to them and they told us it was normal. It is not NORMAL for a salt water pool to give off as much chlorine as we were smelling - it was so bad we couldn't swim in the pool as it was irritating our skin. Then they told us they were putting chlorine in the pool to help maintain it!?! The pool was consistently low and only till it got so low that it was impacting our filter did they notify us but we found out it had been running low for awhile. And,In the past couple of months they have increased their prices. More money - less service. And the final reason why I just fired them is when I called to talk to them they became defensive and told me everything was MY FAULT starating with the fact that "I have so many trees it is hard to maintain the pool properly" (I do have a Lanai) and while I do have many tree's in my back yard (it's Florida) my last pool person did not have a problem keeping the pool clean. Thankfully my brother lives a full time near us and he has been monitoring the situation which is why we know that have not been doing their job. We do not live full time in Sarasota so we were looking to a company that we could trust. Unfortunately this is not the company. read more

They did a horrible job with our pool. They broke one thing and acted like they didn't do it. The store manager is extremely rude. They owed us a credit that they didn't want to give us. I would never use them again and tell everyone I know to NOT use them if you want a company that treats you like a valued customer. read more

Love this place. Great service, supplies, close to home. They even came out and did LED lighting for our pool. Who knew? Called several other pool companies, got no call back or they seemed very disinterested because it was a "small" job. So, thank you Pinch A Penny. read more

I have been frequenting Pinch - A -Penny for over 10 years for my hot tub supplies . I always have them test a sample of the hot tub water ( for free ) , several times a season , and they are always spot on with their analysis to balance the tub . The owners are employees are very courteous and knowledgeable about the spa and the chemicals that are needed to balance your pool and hot tub . They are also very generous in supporting our charitable golfing events at Heritage Oaks . This year they sponsored a tee sign for the Veteran's Pantry , which is a division of the All Faiths Food Bank . I highly recommend them for your supplies and accessories . read more

It's Sunday afternoon at 1 o'clock pool party starting in a couple of hours, I break off part of my pool filtration system. The pressure release valve. To my surprise not only was Pinch a Penny open but they had the part and I was in and out in minutes. So grateful for these employees in the store, always helpful always knowledgeable always quick. read more

On 03/01/13 at about 12:30pm after spending the day shopping locally I walked behind this store (Pinch a Penny Pool) on my way home. An employee (white male, dark hair, slight build) came out of the store and began lecturing me on walking behind "his" store. I explained that I did not understand as it was a public place and a regular walkway used by Sarasota Springs residents. I did as I was instructed and went around as ordered, but as I was walking away the employee yelled back to me "Try some vegetables bro" (An obvious insult based on my weight). This persons comments were embarrassing, unprofessional, hurtful and within earshot of other customers. I can understand if they don't want people in a certain area or hanging out behind their store, maybe post a sign or politely mention it. But this was completely uncalled for. I truly hope this was not "his" store and an owner will note this event and take action accordingly. read more

Our family has been a customer of the Bee Ridge store for 10 years. They have always earned our business by being professional, courteous, and really committed folks...you would think that they were treating their own pool how intensely they address issues with water quality, etc. Three years ago we moved from Siesta Key to north if SRQ airport. Given the distance we chose a closer Pinch a Penny store that is 5 mins from our home versus 30+ minutes. The staff at this Bradenton store have always been rude and seemed disinterested unless they were selling something. After an issue with a warrantied part where the Bradenton store wouldn't honor the warranty I drive back to Bee Ridge. I walked out 5 minutes later with a replacement part. Thank you, Brian and your awesome staff! It may be an hour r/t for us but we owe you that commitment. read more

I arrived at Pinch A Penny shortly after their closing time at 6 PM. As I turned to get back into my car, one of the employees unlocked the door and asked if he could help me. All that I needed was a replacement flap for my skimmer. He brought me into the store, got the part I needed and happily sent me on my way. The people here are always friendly and helpful. These guys are AMAZING! In a time when customer service is so often lacking, James and Alex go above and beyond. We have 2 rental properties on Siesta Key and one on Lido with pools that regularly need repair or parts replaced. We called them for the first time about a year ago and were blown away with the service they provide. They have been lifesavers on more than one occasion. When the spa stops working at an expensive rental property the guests expect it fixed asap. These guys get the parts and fix whatever the problem is within a 24 hour period. They've even gone out to a house after hours to help us out of a bind. I would recommend them to anyone! read more

The robot in my pool was not functioning. I went to the store three times , each time receiving ideas on how to solve the problem. The last time the employee took the robot apart, turned and cleaned the wheels and it works perfectly...before leaving I ask how much do I owe you and he waved me off - no charge - now that's customer service. read more
