A couple of my friends and myself came here last week to catch a final glimpse of the sunflowers but unfortunately, they had already chopped them off for the season. Luckily, we were able to drown our sadness in the wine tasting next door! The website said you didn't need to book any reservations to be there so, we were able to walk right in and get ourselves settled at the nearest bar. The ambiance was great, very social atmosphere and everyone was so kind and helpful and I didn't feel rushed at all. (Not to mention, it was $12 for 5 different wines to taste... sounds like a pretty good deal to me) I loved all the wines I tried but, my favorite definitely had to be the 2015 Riesling! Overall, I only took a star off because we couldn't get to see what we came there for BUT, my friends and I really enjoyed our visit. Oh Pindar! This is the hugest, most beautiful vineyard I have ever came to. The experience was phenomenal. We explored the inside where a gentlemen served us a variety of wine that we can taste along with snacks. Everyone was social distanced. The atmosphere is unbeatable, like no other. We took our 5 wine samples to a table with good shading. There was also oysters where we got 6 and it was the best oysters I ever tasted, paired with the wines perfectly. After we were finished, we took beautiful pictures of the vineyard of course because nothing beat the atmosphere there and then went in and purchased 3 bottles of our favorite wines we absolutely loved and glasses to go with them. I lost count of how many times I was degraded. After calling Pindar to book a reservation for my family's annual wine tour a month in advance, I left the conversation feeling completely disgusted. I went to Pindar two years ago with 19 older family members from a party bus and had a good experience. We are all mature adults, including my grandparents nearing 85. When I called to book a reservation this time, the woman insisted that a party this size would be too drunk and crazy by 3:00pm. She began questioning me about every stop we were visiting before arriving at Pindar. She even asked how long we would be at each site, which I'm not sure is any of her business. She tried to guilt trip me for visiting other places by saying "Well we need reservations just like they do too, sweetie" ...Well, making a reservation was the purpose of the call. She suggested we come at 2:30pm instead since we'd be less drunk, as if 3:00pm is that much different. After telling her we arrived at the same time last year and had no problems, she continued to make judgements that since we're coming on a party bus we'll be too much of a party crowd. I reminded her that the winery closes at 6:00pm, we're an older group, and we only planned on staying for an hour and a half. This did not make a difference to her. She even condescendingly scoffed that it will take us at least 30 minutes to arrive (even though it's a 13 minute drive) to make us feel more unwelcome. By the end of the conversation when I asked if the 3:00pm slot was available, she shared that we are allowed to book it but made it clear that a group like ours shouldn't. I can't stomach giving Pindar any business after the continued disrespectful insults and offensive judgements. This wine tour is a family tradition we look forward to every year, and I much rather visit any other winery on the North Fork than ever spend a penny there. Time to tell my 82 year old Nana that we're too sloppy to come, months before the actual day! read more

We wanted to plan a special day for out-of-town friends and Pindar did not disappoint. We arranged a tour and private tasting for our group of six, and it was terrific. Nancy, our guide, is extremely knowledgeable about both Pindar and North Fork viniculture in general, and the history of this relatively young industry here on NoFo is fascinating. (Did you ever wonder why nearly all the Long Island wineries are on the North Fork instead of the South Fork? Well, Nancy can fill you in!) When we arrived Nancy was finishing with another group, and a friendly man instantly offered us a taste of the Sauvignon Blanc while we waited, which was very nice. I found out later he was Pindar Damianos, the GM and namesake of the winery. After the very impressive tour, which started in the vineyard and went through the facilities, we tasted several wines in a private room. I realized that, while I don't care for the heavy, oaky taste of many Chardonnays and have avoided them for years, the Chardonnays out on NoFo are lighter and delicious - at least the ones we tasted here. We also enjoyed and bought bottles of the Cuvee Rare (sparkling) and the Viognier for dinner at Southold Social (which didn't yet have its liquor license.) It was a great day! read more

I've been to Pindar many times. They have a decent wine selection. $10 for five different wine tastings which is a steal. I tried a tasting of a variety of wines including the Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon Reserve, and Summer Blush. They have live music at times. Their Indoor seating could be better. Pindar is a good vineyard in the summer months. The location is enjoyable. The downside is you can't bring your own food unless you're sitting outside and in the winter time this can be extremely difficult. I will definitely be back in the warmer months with my boyfriend. read more

Came here on a weekday in the middle of the summer with my boyfriend and another couple. The weather wasn't great so we stayed inside and stood at the bar. The bartender was awesome! So attentive and friendly, he talked to us the entire time and really made the experience great! I did a wine tasting and wasn't disappointed with any of the wines I had, although my personal preference was the reds. We ended up with a bottle of sunflower chardonnay to take home for later because we enjoyed it so much! Also, I absolutely love sunflowers so this vineyard was an automatic appeal! They had a great deal and my boyfriend got flower clipped and was able to go and cut me sunflowers from the field that he picked out himself! Only 1 dollar for 1 sunflower and totally worth it! Made the experience so much more memorable!! I can't wait to get back to Pindar next time I am out east! read more

This winery is fun, affordable and definitely casual. The 5 tastes for $10 is very reasonable, and definitely helps to narrow down what bottle(s) to buy. I enjoyed their rose, but I have to say I found their wines to be a bit on the acidic side in flavor. On a Sunday, they had nice live music out on the deck, with a fun crowd that was dancing. People brought their kids and dogs, so it was a fun environment to hang out in. I wished there were more food options though, I was told that they normally have a food truck but it wasn't there that day for whatever reason. This is a place I would definitely visit again for a good time, however I wasn't completely in love with any of their wines. read more

Came here with my friends and our mom's on a winery tour. This was the first stop for us and it was an enjoyable one. We were directed inside where we were given menus of the wine offerings and allowed to choose 5 tastings. My favorite was the German dessert wine. The service was excellent. The same guy stayed with us. He told us about all the wines and made sure our glasses were never empty. The prices of the wines and other items in the tasting room were great. I got a super cute candelabra/wine stopper for my sister at such a great price. There was a covered deck with a musician playing. There were also more vendors outside selling cute jewelry and other items at great prices. All in all a great experience. We would definitely come back to Pindar. read more

As someone who has been a wine enthusiast for years, I can confidently say that this was the worst wine I have ever had in my life. Worse than Barefoot, or any other cheap-magnum style wine you can think of. I went with my sister on a Long Island wine day trip, and this was our second stop. Having come from Sparkling Pointe--whose wines, despite their server's pretentious attitudes, were great--this was severely disappointing. The prices were fair, at $10 for 5 samples, I believe. My sister and I each picked 5 different wines, as their list was lengthy. Here's the kicker: the fact that my sister is NOT an avid wine drinker and still made a 'sour' face when she tried or smelled anything they put in front of us is really a bad sign. When our server finally came over, I asked, "Have you tried this?" and she replied, perplexed, "yeah, why?" and I explained that we truly were not enjoying this and wished to leave without finishing the tasting. I literally could not sit there and finish it and pay the $10; we gave her a $2 tip (despite her poor service) and left. The fact that anyone has rated this any higher than 1 star by anyone is unbelievably astonishing, and clearly those who have given Pindar a 4 or 5 star rating know absolutely nothing about wine. The vineyard is absolutely beautiful and the wines are great but I am very disappointed in the staff and a particular incident that happened while at the vineyards. I went with a group of friends who were of different ethnicity's which I didn't think would be an issue being it's 2023. The first issue arose at the wine tasting bar. Me and my boyfriend approached the bar very politely as it was our first time ever at a wine yard and the woman bartender spoke to us as if we were a bother. She put the sheets down and told us to pick 5 choices and walked away. We truly didn't know what we were doing as we weren't wine drinkers and we thought the bartender would've helped, apparently not. We handed our sheets in and the bartender made our flights across the bar, not even in front of us like she did for every other customer. She also made a remark about my boyfriend smelling like pot which shouldn't have been said, it was rude and unnecessary. She took our payment and went on to the next customer not giving us a receipt or anything. She clearly didn't want anything to do with us because her demeanor was not the same for other customers. We didn't let it bother us and continued to enjoy our time there listening to the live band until another patron approached our table and asked us if we knew this was band was going to be playing and if we were disappointed. Insinuating we didn't enjoy that type of music because the table was majority African american. We expressed how much we enjoyed the band and the patron went on to state that the band played "black magic" just for my friend who is of African american origin. It honestly left a horrible taste in my mouth that my friends were subjected to such ignorance and subliminal racism. Very upsetting and I can't say I will be returning. read more

What a difference a few years make. I returned to Pindar to celebrate a birthday on a nice Saturday afternoon. There was live music--a plus! There were empty tables for sitting and snacking outside--a plus! It was crowded, but that's to be expected. I also knew the tasting would probably take a while because of the crowd. I have no problem with that either. I have a problem when the guy who was pouring my tasting leaves--just disappears--and then the gal comes over and is confused and asks me why the guy put out five glasses in front of me, as if I knew. The reason the guy left? Well, another older gentlemen and he had been having a loud conversation about how he, the wine-pourer, pours wine for hot girls, gets them drunk, and then bangs them. The older guy kept begging him to go outside to hit on a hot chick. The wine-pourer guy, who I will now simply refer to as The Douche, kept saying, no I can't no I can't, until he suddenly--it's a miracle--decided he could. And he left. Happy Birthday to me. The Douche did come back eventually, after the frazzled wine-pourer gal had taken away some of the glasses he'd put out, and then he didn't remember how many he'd poured and barely let me choose what I wanted to taste. I quickly asked for my wines in rapid fire to finish the tasting. They weren't very good anyway, probably somewhat tainted by the experience. I'll never go back. There are too many other wonderful places to experience than having to go through something like that. read more

So, this is my only experience at a Long Island vineyard, so I don't have anything else to compare it to than the vineyards of Napa and Massachusetts. In all honesty, I wasn't really a huge fan of the wines themselves, and I was even less impressed that merely to do a tasting, you have to pay $10. I don't know about you, but I find that complimentary tastings are usually a very good way to get potential buyers acquainted with all of the wines the vineyard offers rather than $10 for samples only four. I could have done with half the amount served per glass if I'd been able to taste twice as many. However, the vineyard is quite lovely. I mean, this whole area is lovely and with an open deck, gorgeous vineyards and a clear, blue-sky day, I wish I'd brought a picnic like a few of the other patrons who had planned ahead and settled in with their wine for a meal. As for the wines, they are very different than anything I've previously tasted. The whites and rose tend to be on the sweet side, while the reds are quite robust and almost peppery in a very earth way. We ended up with a bottle of the Cabernet and the Syrah, which were reasonably priced at around $12 per bottle. All in all, if you're looking for a fun experience in a pretty place, Pindar is a good option. Just be prepared to spend at least $10 on the tasting, plus $3 per any additional taste. read more

I went to Pindar on a wine tour bus. It was actually the only vineyard we visited because the wine was good and the outside gazebo was fantastic. Bring some sandwiches, or order some when you get there, find a table, buy a bottle of wine and relax, all day. They have a guitar player strumming out some decent tunes. This is one of my favorite vineyards on the East End. In fact, my wife and I bought cases of their Summer Blush wine as wedding favors for our wedding last year. They didn't disappoint this year either. The Summer Blush was still good but we decided to leave with some Winter White this time. Yes, their tasting room is busier than others but that's because it's a huge winery. Despite the number of people there the staff is still eager to please. They have a seating area and picnic area in the back. Live music is provided as well between 1-5pm on weekends. A great place to have lunch on a beautiful day. read more

Not the most upscale or special winery but if you are happy to drink inexpensive wine without any pretense, Pindar is a fine choice. The tasting room is large and the outdoor area is one of the largest, covered outdoor seating areas in any winery in the NoFo. Which means, bring your friends and family and stay a while. They have live music on Saturdays (in the summer) and are one of the few places open past 6 pm on Saturday. The wine is just ok with their Chardonnay and Sauvignon Blanc as some of the better options. They also have lots of food snacks and a $1 sunflowers (u cut) which provides some entertainment for kids. read more

Visited Pindar last weekend and really enjoyed it. Large tasting room and a nice outdoor area with Live Music. The servers were really attentive and they gave a very generous pour. You picked five tastings for $4 and they had cheese and crackers for $5 which was a nice touch. I like that you could pick the wines you wanted. The Riesling and the Long Island White were my favorites. Also went to Duck Walk, a sister winery and they were really great too. Pindar is a little better place to hang out. I'm giving this place 4 stars for two big reasons: 1. They allow dogs 2. They allow you to bring your own food so long as you eat at the covered patio way out back. After you're done eating you can move towards the outdoor deck which has nicer seating with sunlight. I ordered the $35 bottle of something reserve - I wish I could tell you but they took my receipt to ensure the bottle was paid for before they uncorked it for you. It was okay. I didn't love it but I was also there more for the company and the experience. The live music was terrible. Holy cow... the guy has definitely wrote his own songs. "I'm from New Jersey and it feels like Ohio..." My 9 year old niece could have come up with something a bit more lyrical. read more

Great recommendations based on what I was ordering, and very prompt service! He made the experience that much better for an already amazing winery. We haven't been on the North Fork in years so when we got to Pindar I was afraid it might have lost its touch, but surprisingly it was just as I remembered it, charming, professional and friendly. No attitude or snobbery from the staff - try finding that at any of the other vineyards!!! And the deal of 25% off if you buy a case or more is amazing! The wines are wonderful and there is no surprise that they maintained their quality, what is surprising is they also maintained their reasonable prices! Its easy to pick out what you want as every bottle is carefully organized on one wall with the tasting bar in the center of the large room. Though I imagine this place can get pretty crowded it wasn't on the day we were there and everyone from staff to customer was in high spirits. The ambiance is lovely as are the views. The free mulled wine was a huge asset too. On a chilly day it warmed us up and smelt wonderful. The fact is that this, though being a huge business, this is still a shop that has to cater to its cliental in order to make an experience happy and Pindar hasn't forgotten that and excels where the others fall on their regal asses and highfalutin airs. read more

Our first vineyard of the trip. Beautiful property and huge tasting room with two huge bars. Each tasting includes 5 wines of your choice. I wasn't a huge fan of many of their reds but I really enjoyed the Sweet Scarlet, Autumn Gold, Peacock, and a few other whites. Bartenders were all friendly and helpful about which wines were the most popular and made suggestions when we asked questions. It was very crowded when we first arrived but it got quieter after a few of the buses left and we had a lot more room. In the tasting room was also a little store around the walls selling wine items and snacks to buy. Outside tables were key and we bought a case of different wines (25% off if buying a case) and ate a ton of food that we brought ourselves. Great time and setting just sitting outside relaxing with friends. Also wandered the vineyard a bit and enjoyed it. Would definitely go back! read more

I was out in wine country this weekend. Pindar is always a stop. It was a perfect autumn day, sunny, pleasantly cool. They have a large facility, plenty of help around. Parking is plentiful. On this day they also had live entertainment (ok, it was a guy singing karaoke) and a Mexican food truck. In addition to tasting some good wines, I also went for a walk in the vineyard. The drought was clearly visible by looking at the condition of most of the vines, but still saw a lot of grapes patiently waiting to be picked for some new beverages. My suggestion for a trip out here this fall is arrive early and try to leave early. Traffic going back west to 27 or the LIE is awful the later you head back. Especially in Jamesport. However, I highly recommend a trip out here before winter sets in. read more

This is the most amazing winery I have ever been to the wines were amazing! The server was also amazing and very knowledgable made some great suggestions that we really enjoyed tasting.
