Out of all the vineyards my husband and I visited on our trip this weekend (8), Pindar was our favorite for wine. We made sure to arrive at opening to beat the large groups and bus tours. Jim assisted us with our tastings and was comedic and very informative on the wine making process and history of the vineyard. We also signed up for the wine club and took home our first package. The grounds were lovely and the live music made sitting outside very enjoyable. Being that Pindar is a top vineyard, expect a packed bar, busy and loud atmosphere from large party groups. Great place to visit year round, but I prefer the summer time. Im not a wine expert, but the wine was great to me, they have so many variations to choose from. The scenery is beautiful and the atmosphere is great. If your looking to have a good time, this is the place to go. They have live music outside during the summer time, not sure about the winter season. Very nice vineyard. Large indoor tasting room,lots of wine selections, very organized. Outdoor decks. While we were there someone was celebrating their engagement, just happened.they have a large Adirondack chair for photos, and some corn hole games, which was nice. Everyone friendly .large sunflower field to the side, but flowers not in full bloom yet. If you go later in the summer, the sunflowers are amazing, just have to watch out for the bees! It's a lovely vineyard .( Greenport brewery is next door and a fun place too) Pindar is worth a visit. read more

This was our first trip to a Long Island winery and we were unsure what to expect. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Our bartender was knowledgeable and helped us make selections. The price of a flight with 5 generous pours was $10. Very reasonable. For $10 you could pick a brick of cheese from the refrigerator and they provide the crackers, plates and knife. Wine tasting was indoors and there was outdoor decks with live music . This is where you could enjoy wine by the glass or bottle. You could also bring you own food to the outdoor deck area. What an excellent experience last Thursday afternoon at Pindar. A few years ago I came to the North Fork and we went to a number of great wineries, but not Pindar. Being on Long Island for business and having about 45 minutes before I had to get the ferry at Orient Point, I'm glad I had the opportunity to make up for it. First, both Terry and Iliana were fabulous hosts. They were personable and knew the wines very well. It was a plus being there at a relatively off-peak time as there were only two other groups in there before closing. The facility is beautiful and well-appointed for individual and group tastings, and the deck out back is a wonderful spot to relax. I tried (and purchased) their 2021 Sauvignon Blanc, which was wasn't nearly as acidic as most bottles of this varietal. The Viognier was fruity with a soft mouthfeel -- very nice and I got a bottle of that too. That said, where Pindar is really hitting it is with reds. Their Cabernet Franc is an exemplar of the North Fork style -- spicy and delicious. Their Pythagoras blend is appropriately fruit-forward -- not too much. And their 2019 Mythology Reserve was phenomenal. Complex but delicate. In short, Pindar really knows what they are doing with varietals and Reserve red blends. They seem to be known for some fruitier blends that are popular, but what I tried was tasty. And again, excellent space with pitch perfect customer service from Iliana and Terry. Every age group here, drink indoor outdoors on da patio or on the many benches located out in the field. Ah, good ol' Pindar! From all Long Island wineries, it always been my favorite. Years pass, vines grow, but Pindar always intrigues me with their wines. Winery set on beautiful grounds, with store, tasting bar and outdoor seating on the patio or free-standing pavilion. Wine tastings always fun, and wine by the glass or bottle available for purchase (discounts for 6+ or dozen bottles!). Enjoy a glass at the pavilion while looking around at beautiful sun-kissed grape vines and listening to live music on weekends, and of course bring some more home with you - they are best wines around, at great value. Some of my favorites over the years has been Mythology, Syrah, Autumn Gold and Viognier, but all new ones are definitely worth trying. (If you never been to Long Island wine country before, you must! Not my favorite vineyard. Our first stop on the wine trail for a weekend trip. We went Friday during the day and there was no one there. The staff was more worried about the 5 pizzas they had ordered than the customers. We started our tasting with a man and then a woman took over midway so he could go eat pizza. She told us toning about the wines, and walked away after each pour so we couldn't talk to her even if we wanted to. Odd that the bathrooms are outside in a building like you'd see at a campground. Outside, dirty and full of cobwebs. Gross!!! And not air conditioned. Also they had a large outdoor patio but we couldn't sit on it (or cut thorough it to get to the bathrooms) because it had signs saying it was closed for a private party. No one was at the vineyard. So need,was to say with nowhere to sit we didn't bother sticking around for a glass of wine. Off to the next vineyard! Completely unimpressed. read more

We were unfortunately ignored. When I did ask for service bartender slammed her hand on the bar... Off season, slow, no reason to be rude. We probably made eye contact with staff half a dozen times with no acknowledgement. Went to duck walk instead after not being served and having someone slam their hand on the bar. Also was a bartender all through college and post grad, I know the difference between high and low turnover and my husband and I do not expect to be catered to. We went to both bars trying to be served, place was empty, no real excuse to be ignored other than poor service.Think this was the third time I've been to Pindar, didn't have this experience before. read more

My absolute favorite winery to go to - during the offseason. I love the large variety of wines to choose from and am always greeted with friendly employees. I highly recommend going during the winter; I've only ever had great experiences. You will be one of the very few people in the entire place, with full attention from the employees serving you. You have the time to gain knowledge about different wines from the employees and explore your palette to see exactly what you like/don't like. I personally don't like the busyness of the summertime, so I choose other vineyards during this time. However, Pindar is my go-to during the offseason and I can't wait to come back again soon! read more

Sometimes it's better when you skip the foreplay and get right to it. Pindar did just that! I don't need a clique description of each wine when it is poured. I don't need to sniff and swirl every glass. I don't need to pretend that I'm at a vineyard for any other reason than to drink. The layout is great and spacious - there are numerous bars and attentive servers. It is $6 for 5 tastings or you can upgrade to premium for another $2. The wine is meh.... tasted very acidic compared to your everyday wine. The quality wasn't there, and a lot of the wines were on the sweeter side, not for me. The first stop on our self created wine tour and certainly the best, Pindar is just a jewel in the crown of the Long Island Wine trails. A massive indoor bar and selection of wines paired with a large selection of cheeses. The staff was very knowledgeable and as a fan of whites on the sweeter end their Riesling and blends were all delicious. Their Winter White and Summer Blush are great as is pretty much the their entire white and blend list. The place has a massive outdoor deck that over looks their grape fields. They allow outside food so its great for groups who want to hang out for a while. read more

We went on a vineyard tour for a bachlorette party. Let me just say that out of the three vineyards we went to today- Pindar BLEW THE OTHERS OUT OF THE WATER. Jim (pictured with the bride to be), our bartender- made the entire experience. He was so sweet and nice in explaining the wines to us and helping us to figure out what we might like. Very down to earth and not snobby at all like some of the other places we visited. He even came outside (it was early so not so busy) and took photos of our group (they came out excellent). We all agree that we would come back here again; so long as Jim is working. Excellent atmosphere, friendly staff, amazing wine and the best tasting options. What a great time. read more

Oh Pindar, how I love thee! My favorite vineyard on the North Fork! I love the wines, I swear every wine I try here I enjoy (I do prefer sweeter wines just FYI - but they have drys also). I also love that you are allowed to bring food here (outdoors). Not many vineyards let you do that, and it is definitely part of the reason we keep coming back. Peacock Chardonnay and Summer Blush are probably my 2 most favorite wines that they make. The location is pretty big. Inside there are not many tables or chairs, but they have 2 huge bars to stand at. Outside has a ton of seating, picnic benches in the grass and tables and chairs. They also have a large roofed deck area with tables and chairs for rainy days. Food truck is available some days if you didn't bring your own. I would highly recommend this vineyard! read more

I'm really happy to have found this place. It's about 1.5 hour drive from NYC. I love that they are dog friendly. I didn't get to tour the winery but the tasting was great. It was $12 for 5 cups, well worth it in my opinion. My favorites were the Riesling and the sunflower Chardonnay. I loved that this place was very clean and organized and properly social distanced. You could also choose to sit in a sunnier area or a shadier area. Everyone was very friendly, definitely recommend! read more

I am not much of a wine drinker, but the wines here were good, it is getting a 4 for the service. We were greeted with a smile, our pourer was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, and every wine he poured he thoroughly explain all the tasting notes. The wines here were ehhh as well. I felt like the service here was the least receptive of the 3 wineries i checked out. The scenery wasn't as nice as Duckwalk and Baiting Hollow as well. Love coming here! Tastings : $10 for 5 different types of wine (lengthy list). $2 for any single tasting Wine bottles average $10-$15. They have a few pricier bottles but for the most part this place is extremely affordable. After the tasting we hung out for a few hours. They have a wonderful spacious outdoor area. You can enjoy your bottles there or take them to-go. They sell snacks but we brought our own cheese platter for our group. I'm not sure if it's allowed but they didn't say anything. They also have live music. Great way to spend a summer day. I will continue to visit Pindar. I took family visiting from Florida over the weekend and they had a great time. I didn't give them 5 stars bc they didn't guide us through the tasting nor describe the wines we were having. They just kept pouring and walking away which kinda defeats the whole purpose of going to a winery to learn about wine. However, we still had a great time. read more

Such a fun vineyard! First of all, its very spacious with a big indoor tasting room, a back deck and a barn/picnic area with live music on the weekends. The service was very prompt although it was a busy Saturday! My mom and I each did a tasting of 5 for $10. I like how you can mix and match between any of the wines and aren't tied to a specific white or red flight. Someone was even going to offer us a 6th tasting and since my mom told them we already did 5, the bartender ended up giving us a complimentary taste of port for being honest :) The most interesting wine we had was the Spring Splendor which is fermented with cranberries - so refreshing but not too sweet! My mom and I both bought a bottle and were happy to discover that one of our local wine shops carries Pindar. They also have a pick your own sunflower field which is a good spot for photos. Although there are so many vineyards to explore on the North Fork, I would definitely want to go back here again (on a day when the temperature is below 100 degrees! whew). read more

Good winery on the north fork. We stopped by during our winter winery weekend visit around noon. It wasn't busy at first, but more people showed up over the course of an hour. The wines are pretty good overall - I believe Pindar is one of the larger wine distributors out of the north fork. The tasting was $10 to try 5 wines - at least one was rated by Wine Spectator. We ended up going home with a bottle of Shiraz that we thought was delicious, the other wines were enjoyable. Giant space to try wines or enjoy a glass of wine with cheese. For $10 you can pick a cheese from the fridge and it comes with crackers. read more

Wow, I think this may be a new favorite vineyard of mine! Visited here over the weekend for the first time with my boyfriend and friend. I was blown away by the amount of wines they offered. They were very, very delicious. We did the tasting, which was $12 for 5 wines. I thought that was a great price. Our waiter (I don't know his name) kept telling us not to rush, even though it was nearing closing time. He was very patient and we told him my boyfriend was military and he was nothing but helpful. We took pictures in the sunflower field, which was beautiful. Pindar sits on a very generous amount of land. I had no idea how big this place was until I visited. I'm torn with my star review on Pindar, because they do sell my favorite wines on the North Fork (and at the most reasonable prices...$9.99 for a great bottle makes me happy), but their tasting area indoors and their outdoor seating are so subpar that it is my least favorite winery destination. Also, all their bathrooms are in a large outhouse, which I find odd. I feel like if they renovated their building a bit (including some indoor restrooms) and rearranged their outdoor space to be more cohesive, that Pindar would be back on top in my book. I do highly recommend the Summer Blush, Winter White and Autumn Gold wines. Summer Blush is my fave! read more

We had a beautiful fall day here. We sat in the back in the outdoor space. We came here as part of NY wines tasting event and tried 4 wines. The first white wine (sauvignon blanc) was very good. There were many who enjoyed the winter white but it was very sweet. They included a selection of sandwiches such as mozzarella pesto, chicken, and lox. Went here a few days ago with a large group of friends. Terri was our bartender. She was very sweet, patient, attentive and knowledgeable in all the different kinds of wines for our wine tasting. Love the freedom at this winery...can bring your own food, the kids, the dog; totally laid back and friendly. We come out for Country Day each year with Six Gun and have the best time listening to the band and sipping the Cabernet. Tons of room with picnic tables, a huge gazebo that also has tables and chairs plus all the indoor space as well. Ladies room was in pretty decent shape an hour before closing; they'd just run out of soap. If you enjoy a relaxed, comfortable atmosphere this is the place. read more

My first LI vineyard tasting!! I've been dying to come out to the vineyards and Pindar opened up a new world to me! It was a beautiful day so we decided to sit out on the porch and have lunch. Pindar allows you to bring in outside food only on their deck so we ate first before a tasting. We did start off with a full glass for each of us, my rose was delicious!! Depending which wine you get, the glasses are $6-$8 which is very reasonably priced. There's a security guard outside who checks your cooler to make sure there's no outside alcohol. Because apparently people are that scummy to bring outside alcohol to a vineyard... After lunch we went inside for the main event - tastings!! The tastings are $10 for 5 tastings which is another great pricing for me! I did mostly whites because it was so hot out! Red wine is my favorite but I think I will have to come back in the fall for those tastings. Our bartender was very knowledgeable about the wines and gave us a description of each pour. She was very nice and was able to recommend our next tasting if we were unsure what to try next. I wish I got her name because we were very impressed with her!! After our extensive tastings, we bought a bottle of the Autumn Gold and the Sauvignon Blanc and took them back outside to the pavilion where there was live music. Wine is solidly average at best for what North Fork has to offer. Couple of more complex reds interesting but still B grade. Live music and beautiful Vineyards make this worth a stop, but try to avoid the crowds... it is tough given right on main road. read more

A couple of my friends and myself came here last week to catch a final glimpse of the sunflowers but unfortunately, they had already chopped them off for the season. Luckily, we were able to drown our sadness in the wine tasting next door! The website said you didn't need to book any reservations to be there so, we were able to walk right in and get ourselves settled at the nearest bar. The ambiance was great, very social atmosphere and everyone was so kind and helpful and I didn't feel rushed at all. (Not to mention, it was $12 for 5 different wines to taste... sounds like a pretty good deal to me) I loved all the wines I tried but, my favorite definitely had to be the 2015 Riesling! Overall, I only took a star off because we couldn't get to see what we came there for BUT, my friends and I really enjoyed our visit.
