I would say this motel is one step up from a campground. Dirty. Very outdated. The sliding glass door lock was broken. One of the managers said "it should be ok. Some people go down to the beach and just leave with only the screen door. It's fine". They couldn't replace the lock that day. Another manager came out, threw his arms up in the air and told me "you don't want to stay here, go somewhere else!" We also had our small dog with us, so I needed to find a dog friendly place, QUICKLY! needless to say, I found another hotel (dog friendly) and checked out within the hour. read more

I thought the Green Lantern in Tahoe had set the bar for crappy motels but Pine Beach somehow managed to lower it even further. First of all I called ahead to let the front desk know I'd be checking in late because I had to drive from Sacramento during a bad storm and most of the major roads were closed. They told me that was fine and when I called again to confirm this they said they'd just stick my keys in the lockbox outside. When we showed up we found out the "lockbox" was really a mailbox and anyone could have walked up and taken my keys. Then we got into the room. It stank to high hell and was damaged. We tried to use the fan in the bathroom- it wasn't a fan, but a heater. We ended up using that to heat the room because the actual room heater didn't work. The shower was the worst I've ever used; I was basically splashing water up onto myself with my hands to get clean and rinse off. We asked for extra pillows and one of the pillows we were given had boogers on it. The lampshade next to the bed appeared to have a bloodstain on it. We ended up leaving around 1am on our second night and just driving back to Sacramento because we couldn't sleep with how badly the room smelled. I was here to DJ a wedding and my room was paid for by the bride and groom- if this hadn't been the case, I'd be demanding all my money back. read more

Do I begin with the jacuzzi tub in the middle of the room with an OUT OF ORDER sign on it? If you call the office about it, you are told, "It works, but there is a $25 charge if you want to use it". WHAT?! We'll top it off with the "continental breakfast" that consists of the manager dumping the contents of their refrigerator on a counter. It was a health inspectors utopia of food handling violations. In comparison to the room rates along the Mendo coast, this place is below average. You get what you pay for. No phone signal here, and their "free wi-fi" is virtually nonexistent. Two stars for their beach access. An extra star for the nice kid at the front desk. This place had potential, but obviously the owners don't really care about much beyond collecting their $$$. read more

We visit Mendocino/Fort Bragg at least twice each year and have tried a lot of B & Bs, hotels, cottage rentals...you name it. When I checked hotels.com I wanted a place with an ocean view and this place came up on my search. I thought I knew the place though there was no photo of the front of the place on hotels.com or their own website. The reviews on hotels.com were mixed but how bad could it be? It wasn't that inexpensive and it had an ocean view!! I called the motel about a week before our visit to check on a few things, mostly if there was a refrigerator in the room. There was...good! But "Raul" took about 15-minutes to confirm my reservation...which was a tad unnerving. When he finally found my name I said..."ocean front, right?" and he said, "no...not for this amount." The photo on hotels.com makes it look like all rooms have a view so I was surprised. It's promoted as having a private beach. After some prodding "Raul" said he could give me an ocean view for $15/night extra. I acquiesced. When we got there he asked for the additional money and I handed him a credit card...he said it would be too difficult to do this and asked for cash. I didn't have $45 on me at the time of check-in but told him I'd pay later. There are a number of 1-level buildings with rooms and then 1 building with two levels. Our room with the "view" was on the 2nd level. No elevator. The walk on the floor to the room's door was carpeted with stains and tares that were beckoning for a customer accident. Who knows how old this place is and what level of maintenance they adhere to but it was a bit scary especially if you're older and could trip on uneven surfaces. The room wasn't dirty but it just lacked an iota of charm. It was by far the worst place we've stayed in the area. We've stayed at less expensive motels that were far nicer than this. The bed mattress and linens made me think of sleeping overnight in some downtrodden grandmother's home but even a grandmother might add some charm to her old home. The motel promotes a breakfast. This is a bastardization of the word. Though it didn't say "hot" in front of it most places that offer cold breakfasts use the term "continental" for their bagel and cereal meager offerings. Not this place! They place a few items on a counter in the reception area and call it breakfast. There's no room to sit in the area; you have to take the food back to your room or outside. Most other guests were families and people with dogs. One man had two pit bulls off leash walking around the grounds looking to take their dumps. Really? I'm shelling out about $160/night to be around this? The ocean view from the room only existed if you stood close to the sliding glass doors. The bed was on the other side of the room -- actually a large room with a big open area perhaps for dancing -- so you couldn't see it. Maybe we should have rearranged the furniture but I'd fear seeing what lies under the bed or furniture. The beach is accessible after a 10-minute hike through brush. It's a hike and definitely not accessible for older folks that could be prone to tripping on uneven surfaces. There you have it. A 20-year old surfer or abalone diver would find these accommodations quite adequate but not someone who makes a decent living and goes on vacation to relax and experience some comfort. read more

After looking at many places online we chose this one because of price, location and ocean view. Greeted by a very friendly lady at check-in. Our room was nothing to write home about. This place needs a good remodel. Fixtures in the bathroom were in poor shape. The view of private beach was ok. Very poor WiFi service. And NO cell service. It was hit and miss. I even saw another guest out in the parking lot holding her phone in the air trying to get service. It seemed like it was only available during certain hours also. No service until 7am. ?? I was trying to keep up with my business at home but had to wait until I got into downtown for service. Although we got a good price online, we will not be back. read more

This inn is old and weary. The rooms are very old-fashioned and small, but clean and tolerable. My family and I booked a "suite", but really it was just a regular room with 2 beds plus an extra room which literally only fit one bed, a TV, and dresser. Their so-called private access to the beach is simply a sliding back door, which takes you to the center lawn-- and that's nowhere near the beach. If you're a nature lover like me, this place really wasn't that bad. They have a gazebo and a nice big grass area outside, with tables made of logs. FAVORITE PART was the beach. You have to go through a trail to get there, but it's worth it. The view is amazing, and the beach is clean and quiet. Very serene and beautiful. Michael from the front desk was really nice. No wifi or phone service at all in this place. Tennis courts are run down and old. The restaurant is not open, and doesn't look like it'll be opening up anytime soon. Overall, this place was okay to stay in, there's definitely other places along the coast that are better. But I don't regret staying here because of all that nature had to offer around the inn. read more

Total waste of money. The staff is rude and the only way they got my booking was via bait and switch by Hotwire. They claim to be similar to Embassy suites, Radisson and Sheraton on Hotwire. I'm betting these chains would not like to be slandered this way. When I got to the dilapidated property I asked to see the room before I checked in and the desk clerk asked me why, even if I don't like the room that I wasn't getting my money back. Got to the room and found dirty bed skirt, used tissue and dust at the head of the bed, mold in the valence, handle fell off the bathroom sink, security chain broken, towel rack falling off the wall, and extension cords running across the room touching the floor heater. In the morning I got a nice surprise on the balcony, a tea bag stuck to the ceiling. This place was beyond disgusting. They should have paid me to stay in this place. Do not use Hotwire's "Hot deals", they hide the property for a reason. read more

Called management and we were up till after 11 pm with them changing one bed and attempting to clean behind 2 of the beds. Lets just say they picked out the trash. The bathtub had a wad of hair in it, floor had pee and feces in it. no ac and the window lever on our window was broken.In two of our rooms the bathrooms were infested with bugs, and unfortunately one of us woke up with bugs in the bed. We went to get ice and the ice room stunk so bad. smelt like rotten fish and you could just see and smell the bacteria. The floor heater along the bed was filthy dirty. have no idea what was all over it besides dirt. This place needs a good scrubbing. I actually do not know how the place is still open and how the health department has not been called upon to investigate. Because of this experience I will be sure to ask to see the rooms next time before I stay in any room from now on. I suggest anyone else to do the same. I would NEVER stay at this place again. We were even offered a comp for our next stay. we let them know there would be NO next stay. Seriously, the health department needs to check this place out. I was a little hesitant to write a Yelp review, since the lowest possible rating is 1 star and this place is hardly deserving of a single one. But I am here doing my good deed for the day and warn everyone to not be fooled by the words "private beach" or "suite" or "restaurant" or whatever fancy words they throw up on that highway sign. I don't know, maybe I'm too high maintenance, maybe I'm too used to the luxury of a Best Western or America's Best Value Inn, but this place, the Pine Beach Inn, is the worst hotel experience I've ever had. Where to begin? Well, upon stepping into your "suite," you'll come across the sight of peeling wallpaper, bugs on the wall, cobwebs swaying from the ceiling, dust lurking in the corners of the carpet, and what appears to be a charming vintage 70's television hanging from the wall. But these things will be the least of your worries at first, as you'll likely be overwhelmed with the stench of mildew and mild foot odor upon entering the facility. After getting used to the odor, you'll probably notice other things like, - the tacky floral-print bedsheets your skin will be making contact with, which no doubt have never been bleached. One word: camouflage. - there are only 2 thermostat settings: 50 degrees or 90 degrees. - you must tread lightly, as one harsh step can disrupt your Direct TV reception (learned the hard way) - no exterior light at the entrance That isn't even the worst. All of the above can be tolerated when all you need at the end of the day is a bed. However. The only thing separating us from the "suite" above seemed to be a 1mm-thick plywood spray-painted by the standard cottage cheese ceiling coating. You could hear every SINGLE STEP of whoever had the unfortunate pleasure of inhabiting the room above. Every single step, every single creak. Every flush and movement of the pipe. Every time the blow dryer was used. And my favorite, the unmistakable sound of heavy urine being catapulted into the toilet, which disrupted whatever sleep you managed to get. Unfortunately we didn't get to check out the private beach, which I'm sure is it's only redeeming quality. On the bright side, the front desk man was extremely friendly. On a brighter side, I managed to walk away without a single bed bug bite, and with a whole new appreciation and respect for Motel 6. You have been warned, my friends. read more

Rooms are outdated, but clean. The rooms are spacious. Glitter ceilings?!!.....Chicka chicka bow wow....no problem. Highly recommend bringing your own pillow. *If you LOVE nature......you will love this location as it has it's own private beach and other natural surprises if you ask the people that work there. Follow the rabbit hole. *Free breakfast items served in check in lobby until 10am (great for a small breakfast before exploring the sites for the day. We ventured out at night for dinner and even found a little movie theater downtown. *Staff was friendly and knowledgeable about the popular things to do. We really enjoyed Glass beach, Mendocino beach for whale watching & sunset, Dinner at the North Coast Brewing Co. We went to Fort Bragg and Mendocino recently to enjoy a long weekend away and decided to stay here since it was between both towns. We had reserved one night and ended up staying two nights in a first floor room that had no view but was great for what we needed: a warm room with running water and clean sheets. We didn't check Yelp before going so we were a bit surprised we couldn't access our phones or the Internet (a couple were accessing it in the registration area), but we didn't care -- the whole point for us was to enjoy not being connected and spend the daytime hours exploring the area. There also was a bit of a musty smell in the room but that was due to the temperature/climate; we aired it out a bit and problem solved. We didn't make it to the private beach but I do think if we hadn't done so many other things we would have enjoyed it. Pros: -- nice staff and spacious room -- inexpensive alternative if you only need a place to sleep (don't expect a resort) -- the room warmed up quickly for the cold evenings -- microwave and good-sized fridge for leftovers and drinks -- all basic amenities covered: TV, phone, hair dryer, soap/shampoo, local info -- good location if you want to be between the two towns Cons: -- no wireless or phone access (at least with AT&T, just plan ahead or use your phone when you hit either town) -- the room could have been cleaner (one too many cobwebs) -- the rooms could definitely use upgrades, very old and worn -- the musty smell will hit you when you first walk into your room -- the second night we could hear the neighbors chatting in the next room and teens walking around-and-around the complex (but neither were anything to call the front desk about) To sum it up: if you just need a place to sleep while you're exploring the area and you're okay not having a chocolate on your pillow, it's not a bad place to rest your head for a few hours. read more

My lady and I make it a point to stay here every time we visit the area. I believe we have stayed here five times now, several stays lasting more than a single night. And we will continued to keep coming back. It is located in a quiet area on Hwy 1, about halfway between Mendocino and Fort Bragg (About five minutes or less to each town). It appears to be a family run business, as I usually see the same guy working the desk in the evenings, and the sounds of a family living behind the reception area. On their property is a nice walking area leading to a private beach cove. There is also tennis courts, and a Thai restaurant that I have not tried but have always heard rave reviews about from local shop owners. The hotel does not have AT&T signal, but to me that is a good thing. I don't believe anyone traveling to a "city" with a population of 7,000 should be overly concerned with being constantly connected to the outside world. To me, the lack of cell service is an amenity on its own. The rooms here are HUGE! Easily twice the size of a Best Western or Holiday Inn. It was tempting to have a twister tournament on all the excess floor space we had. There is a TV in every room connected to satellite with hundreds of channels. Beats the standard of ten or so channels at other hotels. Our thermostat has always worked (although, understandably, it takes a while longer to heat the gigantic room), and can be set ANYWHERE from 60-90. The rooms have always been decently clean, beds sleepable, and bathrooms just fine. I won't lie, the price is also another big reason why I continue to come back. Last trip, on 1/23/12, without reservations I was able to get a room for $64. Steal! I would recommend taking the bad reviews of this place with a grain of salt. If you are looking for a posh suite, Santa Barbara might be a better travel destination than the Fort Bragg area. But if you want a huge room at a good price, in a decent condition with their own private beach, then I would definitely recommend checking out the Pine Beach Inn. Forgive me, for I have sinned. I ignored 2 of the previous Yelpers reviews and went off of Expedia's reviews. I know. I know. Called direct though. Got a bubby woman who took down all our info. We were 3 adults needing 2 beds. She did try to upsell us into a suite. We turned it down. Driving into (from the North) Fort Bragg we were really positive about this place. As we drove past all the other hotels we saw on Expedia, we noticed they were all really nice looking. But we kept driving, and driving. At about the point that our phones lost reception we got to Pine Beach Inn. 70's kinda style. But hey, Retro is in. We met Raul the owner at the front desk. He's owned PBI for about 4 yrs. Sold his other business, a Mobile home/RV park. Said it was too much work. Ummm...so he bought a 50+ room hotel? K. Gave us our room key, It didn't work. While the hubby waited at the door with all our luggage, the M.I.L. and I went back to the front desk. He took one of our card keys, guaranteeing that the other would work along with a grubby white card. Guaranteeing that no matter what, the white card would work. And it sure did. Too bad the room only had ONE bed. Back in the car, back to the reception desk. He asked why we hadn't told him in the beginning...uh, phone call, 3 adults? 2 + 2 =... I tried to give him the keys back but he said to just keep the white card. It would work on the next room too. Wait? How is that possible? Then he told us to make sure to get it back to him really early the next morning since the maids would need it back. Yep. That's right my friends. We had a master card key to ALL of your rooms! Good thing we're good people. Summing it up, front door had a 2 inch gap at the bottom. We had to put a towel down so nothing would climb in. It took 2 of us to close the sliding door. Hair in the tub. Moldy wall paper peeling. No internet. And the morning breakfast was a joke. We grabbed a banana and went up the street to Starbucks. BUT, amazingly. We slept really good. And we DID give back the maids card. read more

Ok so I know 1 star is pretty steep...but this is why: We checked in and they said that since we had dogs we couldn't be in the room which we made the reservations for (ocean view suite). No biggie, but certainly something that could have told us when we called a few days in advanced to let them know we were coming with dogs. But I digress...I have no problems with having to take different accommodations, but the guy at the front desk totally goes on the defensive saying how we surprised them and so we can't have the nice suite that they had ready for us and because we didn't let them know about the dogs, we have to take a cheaper room. Once again, we did call in advance, but once again, I'm fine with that. Anyways, I ask about the price adjustment but again the guy gets all defensive saying that I have to take care of that with Hotels.com and that he has no control and repeats how I should have told them about the dogs. As consolation he lets me know that there is a price difference that I can get an adjustment for...just not with him. So I go back to the room, which has no wi-fi and no cell reception, and make the call to Hotels.com. I go through the process and let them know the situation. They need to speak with the hotel management and when the customer service person gets back to me, he says that the hotel said that there is no price difference and there won't be a price adjustment. However, the hotels.com CS person says that he'll speak with his manager and gets back to me saying that since their website clearly shows a price difference, he'll get me some money back. So despite the fact that the hotel has a nice private beach (although I question whether or not it really belongs to them), the place is nothing more than a 3 star (at best) hotel. Really, the only reason I stayed here was because it was cheap and they allowed pets, so I'm not really complaining about the lack of Wi-Fi or cell-service, and general dilapidated condition of the inn, but being a dick to your customers and then lying...well...need I really say more? read more

I went into this not really expecting a great experience and I would say some things were better than expected and some things worse. The issue with Fort Bragg is that this hotel was probably one of the least expensive and still expensive in my book. I will start with the Bad: Look at all the rest of the reviews, pretty accurate. Place is definitely outdated and did kind of have a musty smell, but that I imagine is hard to control with all the sea air coming in from the ocean. One unique issue was our fan in the bathroom.. sounded like a 747 taking off which nearly vibrated the room. Pros: I thought the staff was extremely nice and we did have a partial view of the ocean. The place did seem clean for the most part. The room was very large and the hotel is fairly secluded and within close driving proximity of town. We really only came down to Fort Bragg to see the glass beach so I cannot say I would stay here again.. My thoughts on Glass beach will probably be on another review so I will not go into details, however I can say that it is beautiful but not worth making an extra 90 minute drive to see again. read more

I'm going to be honest I wasn't expecting a lot. I yelped this place hours before arriving and was prepared for the worst. My cousins weren't as prepared and looked terrified when we reached the hotel (they were already stunned by the lack of signal on their cell phones then they saw one car with all of it's tires flat and another missing it's rims). Upon entering our room one of them commented that it smelled like a thrift store. She was right it was musty, dusty, stuffy, overall just hard to breathe in that room. Luckily we brought our own bed sheets, blankets, and pillow covers so we didn't have to worry too much about the bed they provided (if for some reason after this review you still want to stay here bring your own bedsheets, pillow cases, blankets, heck even towels). The bathroom was worn out. The toilet even had a piece of tape on the flusher saying "hold for 5 seconds". The phone didn't work there was no dial tone. The only thing good about the room was that the tv had cable. They had some amenities like a tennis court and a beach. The tennis court was okay condition however the rackets were pretty torn up. The beach was nice and is the only highlight of this place. There's a random thai restaurant here it didn't seem to be open when I was visiting. This place wasn't as bad as I thought it would be based on reviews but it was still pretty bad. read more

I really should leave well enough alone, especially since the latest review seems to show an improvement in the facility. However, for what it's worth, here goes: My husband and I were resident managers of the Pine Beach Inn 1981-1984. It was owned by a couple who were determined to earn a AAA 5-star, but were never going to because of the lack of a swimming pool. The motel and restaurant were absolutely 5-star, and then some. We had an abundance of returning guests. In those days, pets were not allowed, but eventually that policy changed with the times. According to some of the reviews, they also allow creepy crawly pests! Fast forward to our visit in the early 2000s. We were shocked, and very dismayed. It was like losing an old family friend. The restaurant had been through several iterations, and was a Mexican place. Later it became what it is now, a Thai cafe. We were not tempted to dine there. Back at home I went online, and made the mistake of opening the Dining option. Yikes.... led directly to a hard core porn site! I though I'd made a mistake. Nope.... second try resulted in the same thing. I sent a letter to the local Chamber of Commerce suggesting that such an ad sullied the entire Mendo area. Never received a response, and today I checked, and no change has been made. I don't understand. I do hope the Pine Beach Inn is returning to its former glory, but if the Thai Cafe is going to continue with its porn affiliation, not sure improvement is possible. read more

I booked a room in this dump because it had three stars on Hotels.com. Someone is clearly gaming the reviews if this is getting anything higher than one star. This is, without question, the nastiest motel (calling it an "Inn" is false advertising at best) I have ever stayed in. Where to begin? Driving up to the lobby, the sign is weatherbeaten and old. There is a disused tennis court with rusty poles and only one net. (There is a picture of a tennis court on their page on Hotels.com that is either a stock photo or was taken 30 years ago.) We skipped the "continental breakfast" located there-- it's so cramped, where could they possibly have put the food? Driving up to the ocean view rooms, we could tell why all the pictures on Hotels.com are taken from a distance. The paint is peeling, and even the number on our door was chipped and cracked. The "gazebo" is rusty and in disrepair. Entering one of our rooms, we were met with a mildewy smell, and BUGS in the toilet. There were two towel racks in the bathroom, but one of them was missing a pole and was unusable. The bedspreads were cheap polyester, and the furniture is mismatched and uninviting. There was a lampshade covered with plastic with a sticker clearly saying "CAUTION REMOVE COVER BEFORE USING THE SHADE". We took it off, but it had already started melting! (You're welcome for removing a fire hazard, Pine Beach Inn.) I stepped over a dead moth by the sliding glass door to look sadly at the mismatched worn plastic chairs and rusty table on the porch, and a pile of sand left by a previous occupant. The view was nice, though. Our traveling companions checked in to the room next door and found a dirty diaper in their bathroom garbage and sand all over their (indoor) table! The desk manager did put them in a new room but -- EEEW! I'm glad we spent extra for a "view room" near the beach path, otherwise this would have been a complete bust. The private beach is secluded and quiet, and I'm sure it's lovely when it's warmer. Walking back from the beach, we saw a pile of broken wood that I think used to be the porch railing of some of the rooms. The wood was just sitting out behind the building, not far from a sad little picnic table. I noticed that there were rusty nails sticking out of the wood. I hope no one with small children stays on the property because that is just a tetanus shot waiting to happen. I booked these rooms because they were among the most affordable listings on Kayak.com anywhere near Mendocino. I saw a Motel 6 and several other motels on the way to historic Fort Bragg-- I would recommend staying at one of those and staying FAR away from the Pine Beach Inn. read more

We had an amazing three day stay at Pine Beach Inn. Yes it's a little bit run down. However, upgrades have been made and continue to be made and you can't beat the price for what you get. Everything was clean. The grounds are gorgeous. You can't beat having your own private beach walking distance. We enjoyed visiting with our fellow travelers around the campfire each night. The innkeepers Rosa and Raul, were fantastic. They even invited us to join in their family for a barbecue on our last night. I'll never forget Raul's sister singing Ave Maria under the stars. First off, the private beach is wonderful. It's only a few minutes walk from the rooms, and the entire area is pleasant. The surroundings give this place an extra star! Just bear in mind that you need to close your back door unless you want a wakeup call from a skunk... Of course, the room itself is three stars. It was big but dated, with beds clearly a size smaller than the frame on the floor, which was perfect for ramming your big toe directly into. Our bathroom had uneven tiles. And mind the step out of the room. They gave us a LOT of pillows. Perhaps the worst of all, they hung the toilet paper backwards. That alone nearly deducted a star, but the service keeps the rating. Why? Well, there were shenanigans about our room. Since I had made the original reservations for a party of four in a double full and after four modifications, it ended up being two in a double queen. They initially tried to charge me for the highest amount, but after explaining for a minute, they were happy to correct the system. It's probably not the best place in town, but it's pretty decent. If you "require" communication with the outside world (cell phone service, WiFi actually working IN the room), you will be really upset if you stay here. If you are lying low/in hiding, not a bad option. Also the interiors of the rooms, including linens, towels (are those linens?) and furniture are seriously old and threadbare. So, you know, head's up there. The only redeeming feature is a private cove on the beach. You could probably make your own adult movie down there with no interruption, just, you know, cold, rainy and sand. Just don't expect to upload the movie to the internet back in your room because, you know, the WiFi doesn't quite reach the rooms. Yeah, they claim WiFi, but you kinda have to go to the office to get a signal. There's a Thai restaurant "on" the property. I did not see signs of life at all. The whole place has a weird post-apocalyptic flavor to it. Although zombies would probably require nicer towels. read more

The coast was packed up with folks, this place had a room, so we went for it. not expecting much, I was still disappointed. The Phone service is lacking, and the phone in the room did not work!! I think that's illegal. In an in case of emergency kind of way. dead bugs and dust in corners that seem easy to clean to me, vacuums these days have those fancy attachments and all.... curtains were funky and broken. Very mediocre, but you get what you pay for. Biggest complaint is the smell of cleaning supplies when you enter your room after the maids cleaned it. I would have to air out the room each time. Also the complementary breakfast was lacking, just a small selection of bagels and cereal. Other than that it was okay, and the private beach is definitely worth seeing. I'm hoping to return and have an A-OK experience, but Room 29 did not deserve more than 2 stars. (The beach and beach access definitely are 5 star-worthy) Cons: Dated -- they should invest some $$ and make this place the spectacular getaway it could be. Near highway No screens on window and screen door on sliding glass door was broken: this meant room was hot and stuffy at night with no secure way to cool it down. We woke up and aired it out a couple of times before closing it back up. One of the 2 double beds is visibly crooked and sagged in the middle. Dog hair on bedspread. Sink drain clogged with a visible obstruction. Shower handle broken making temp adjustment very difficult. Visible grubbiness around light switches, on glass door, etc. No cell service or wifi (this can also be a pro, but it was tough to coordinate with friends for beach meet-ups, etc) Pros: Shares lot with Viraporn's Thai Cafe Excellent private beach access (beautiful beach!!) PineBeach Inn was affordable and the woman who worked in the office was very nice. We had an 'Ocean View' upstairs but unless you position yourself just right on the patio you could not see it. The grounds are peaceful and country style. There is a short walk from your room down to the beach which is very nice. The condition of the room however was not very good. Everything was quite old and in need of upkeep. Railings were rusty and steps awkward. The toilet was not working properly and some lights didn't work as there were too many appliances plugged in ( fridge and microwave). Some hair in the bathroom Otherwise The room was Clean and although housekeeping was not available due to the COVID virus staff would bring you change of towels etc if you needed it. WiFi didn't work but TV had movie channels. Overall it was a relaxing place to rest, one of the few available rooms at reasonable prices in FortBragg just kind of 'funky' The Thai restaurant on the property was NOT good and we would recommend going into town for NITS cafe on Main Street. The woman who runs the tiny restaurant makes extremely fresh and delicious Thai food at very reasonable prices. read more

Do not stay at this hotel! Pay the extra money and stay somewhere better!!! It is not a hidden gem!!! It is an unkept piece of shit!! They do not keep up with the maintenance on these rooms! The heating and cooling systems are not even working! So of course you then want to open a door for venting if it's summer.. but guess what, there isn't a screen door!!! So okay... to the bathroom, the tiles are falling off the tub, and one out of 4 lightbulbs work! Not great trying to put your face on for the day!!! Oh and the towels... they were so thin , they had to be the originals from when the hotel was new! Bring your own if you have to stay here. I think the best thing about this hotel is it resembles the Bates Motel and you could probably make a great YouTube video here... oh wait...probably not cuz the service here is so bad and they say they have wifi but NO!!!!! read more

Very beautiful secluded, private, quiet hotel. It is also more than reasonably priced. As well, there is a short walk down a gorgeous path to a beautiful quiet secluded beach. I would recommend to anyone who is looking to get away! The staff are great, and it is a lovely place to visit. And.....the beds are comfy! I stayed in a jacuzzi sweet and it was amazing. Read this before booking! I booked here due to the fact that they took pets and can easily say I would NEVER stay here again. The star I gave was for the very nice people who worked there, but that's where it all ends for this place. The rooms were so dirty, the towels were old and stained, and I really didn't want to touch the bedding,which I'm confident was from the 70s. The fan in the bathroom didn't work, the shower curtain made it impossible to not have a flood, and there was mold in the shower. So many other, less expensive places take pets, so my suggestion is to go to one of them...maybe I'll run into you there:) read more

My wife and I stayed here a couple of years ago because of the Inn's location near the beach in Fort Bragg. The room was shoddy, but it appeared that improvements were being made. So we returned this July hoping to find the place upgraded. Nope, it was in even worse condition. Phone service throughout all the rooms was shut down. The WiFi system was extremely spotty...at one point I had to stand in front of the office to obtain router connection. The lock on the door of our room required frustrating fiddling with to open, and the room itself was funky. The bathroom tile-work was woefully unprofessional and the cabinets deteriorated. We will not return. It's a pity because the location near a beautiful cove is lovely. What is needed is a major renovation and redesign. But it doesn't look likely in this lifetime--the manager was curt and uncooperative to the point of rude. read more

Would be a 3 or even a 4 star review except for a couple of things: 1. When we walked in the room it was FREEZING! Took an hour or so to get the room heated up. I get wanting to conserve energy, but this was a horrible way to start our stay. 2. The WiFi sucks. This would just kind of piss me off in regular circumstances, but at this particular motel there isn't any cell reception making the lack of WiFi a damn nightmare. 3. The TVs are straight out of the 90s. Upsides? The rooms are large. The beds are fine. The hotel is cheap (for the area). It may be a bit of a euphemism to say that you won't get the most luxurious set of accommodations here but rates are reasonable, it's pet friendly and the rooms are spacious. The beds squeak and pillows tend to be thin; sheets don't quite stay on the bed... Some rooms look out over a small back yard/ plot of land where a portable BBQ can be set up; indeed - some of the rooms looked more permanently lived-in (I saw deck chairs, playsets) than most.... There is a lovely private beach (more of a cove, really,) which was then currently strewn with long trailing strands of seaweed and other sea debris, but it was picturesque and beautiful. At 8:30am, with the sun shining, the climate is simply perfect. However, it can get unbearably chilly once the wind kicks up in late afternoon. I, too, booked via Hotels.com but called ahead to confirm. Though on the phone I was told that there would be a $10 supplemental pet charge, no such charge was applied to our bill upon checkin/ checkout. read more
