We had a great time at the Holiday Inn Express during the 4th of July weekend. There was plenty of parking up front when we arrived. We were promptly greeted by Dimitri at the front desk. He was super nice and checked us in quickly. He informed us where the 24x7 coffee/tea/hot chocolate station was and that breakfast was served from 6:30 am to 9. The hotel has one elevator that was in good working condition. We arrived to our room and were immediately amazed by the balcony forest view. We could also see the bridge and the ocean in the background. I highly recommend reserving a balcony forest view room. We loved it. We had a wonderful stay at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites in Fort Bragg and would happily stay here again for future trips to the Mendocino Coast. The hotel was exceptionally clean, from the lobby to our guest room and bathroom. Everything felt well maintained, and the staff made us feel welcome throughout our stay. One of the highlights was the complimentary breakfast. Holiday Inn Express consistently does a great job with breakfast, and this location was no exception. There was a great selection of hot items including eggs, bacon, sausage, potatoes, and, of course, their famous cinnamon rolls, which are always a family favorite! It's a reliable way to start a day of exploring the coast. Our only suggestion would be to expand the room options for families in the future. We'd love to see more family suites with a king bed and twin bunk beds, or rooms with two queen beds and a pull-out sofa. Those layouts would make this hotel an even better choice for families traveling with children. Overall, we had an excellent experience and highly recommend this hotel as a clean, comfortable, and convenient home base for visiting Fort Bragg, Glass Beach, the Mendocino Coast Botanical Gardens, and the surrounding area. When booking on the website if you click 'book room' you don't see the notice about the pool being under repair, so wasn't aware of it until arriving. And the amenities indicate pool is fully accessible etc, so no way to know. LOOKING AT REVIEWS IT HAS BEEN UNDER REPAIR FOR MANY MONTHS! Hotel should have it clear and bold so it isn't missed. This is our second stay and it is a pretty standard hotel. Parking is good, pool is without water and looks like it's been that way for awhile. Rooms are small but clean. Housekeeping is very attentive and friendly. This morning in the breakfast area , where food was being served, a family had their dog and it got loose and tried to eat our food. The owners were argumentative when I told them no dogs in an eating area. He said that there is no sign saying that. The person at hotel front desk didn't care. The guy barely looked up and mumbled I could email the manager and went back to texting. I asked if he'd like me to contact the Health Department and he just stared and went back to texting. The dog owner came over to verbally attack me again for complaining about his dog. In all a pretty ugly breakfast experience. So, for me, an empty pool and roaming dogs , a negative stay in spite of other good features. read more

I didn't see any chain hotels in Mendocino or Fort Bragg, so I was glad to find this one. Honestly, I was pleasantly surprised, the property is well maintained, and the rooms were very clean and felt recently updated. They offer free breakfast, which looked small at first, but actually had a good variety, biscuits with gravy, cereals, pancakes, oatmeal, eggs, yogurt, potatoes, bacon or sausage, muffins, cinnamon rolls, and different breads. Items run out quickly, but the staff kept refilling everything fast, which was great. Housekeeping came daily, tidied the room, and restocked fresh towels. I stayed at this Holiday Inn during a work related trip. It's conveniently located at the entrance to Fort Bragg (highway 20). Booking was handled easily by their friendly staff. I booked a single room. It was very spacious and clean. The hotel is updated. Lighting is adequate in both the room and bathroom. Hot water is important to me especially after having worked outside during a winter storm. The only issues I had were: my access card working intermittently during my stay. Also my heater's thermostat was blank (dead batteries). I've stayed at this location a couple of times for work and I can say that they're consistent. Safe travels everyone! read more

We were very pleased with our stay. Our room was on the second floor with a partial view of the trees and water. The entire property felt clean and well-kept. The room itself was spacious, the beds were comfortable, and the bathroom was spotless. It was the perfect size for our family and conveniently close to everything. We enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn express in Fort Bragg. Especially liked the exterior look of the property, very much in tune with the local vibe. Everything went well, except that we had had a long drive and we very much were looking forward to the hot tub. When we arrive, the hot tub was empty as was the pool, but the check-in person assured us it would be available the next morning at 6 AM, and repeated this several times. As you can guess the next morning it was not full of water, the person behind the desk couldn't tell me anything, I talked to the maintenance man and he couldn't tell me anything. POOL EMPTY & apparently has been for months. Did hotel share this big problem when WE spoke directly to them by phone prior to arrival? NO NOT -not a word! The info was a parting "oh btw" AFTER CHECK IN! There was NO discount, or EVEN AN ATTEMPT to make amends or provide some restitution for the FALSE ADVERTISING OF A INDOOR POOL! Staff not helpful -just basic excuses or no real answer: For example they advertise free breakfast that includes CEREAL...BUT apparently MILK IS NOT INCLUDED!!! "We are out of milk" but NO answer of WHEN they will have milk, like DAYS she IMPLIED THAT HAD BEEN OUT OF MILK!!!! ARE you kidding??? Not a joke!! Also Older white haired lady manger was screaming at 2 male employees who were conversing loudly in Spanish in the parking lot- IN the AM. Paper thin walls -can hear conversations in neighbors room...so the yelling -THIS PLACE SUCKS; room problems - toilet leaks when flushed, so danger AND finally the ICE MACHINE by the rooms OUT OF ORDER as well! This place was chosen for pool and breakfast and name recognition but guess what THIS HOTEL IS NOT OWNED BY HOLIDAY INN, it is a bare bones running hotel that mainly is surviving most likely due to the 100 CALTRANS workers the State of CA has working on HWY 20-literally the whole place is full of men packing the parking lot with trucks, and monopolizing the breakfast...while this is a newer property without the POOL go SPEND YOUR MONEY$$ and stay close to the beach like the BEACHCOMBER instead of this stale FRAUD!! Parking is easy and right next to our room. The views of the forest in our room was beautiful. There's room darking shades which works perfectly. Breakfast area was clean. Lots of tables to eat. Hot breakfast, cold cereal, yogurts, oatmeal, and fresh fruit. There are snacks and drinks you can buy there too before your travels or site seeing. Beds are comfortable and bathroom is very clean. They have Dove soaps, lotions, shampoo, etc. It's near glass beach. Near restaurants too. Beautiful flowers out front too. Staff was helpful and so nice. read more

We stayed here recently and also a couple years back and the quality is about the same. This time we stayed in room 319, but we still experienced similar power surge issues with the lights as we did in the other room. It was bearable but the lights near the bed flicker when any other things are turned on or off. The fridge was quiet at least. However there were a couple of broken things in our room. The usb outlet was not working and neither was the power outlet behind the coffee machine. It wasn't a deal breaker, but it is something that should be fixed. Other than that, everything was clean, the staff were nice, the food was as expected and decent, our bed was comfy, and our overall stay was good. We might stay here again. read more

Had a truck break down on New Year's Eve and the staff at the Holiday Inn Express were great at the last minute when availability could have been a problem. Needed a dog-friendly room and they made it happen, even though due to a small issue we had to switch rooms at first. Allowed us to keep our travel trailer in the parking lot until towed, friendly staff, great breakfast in the morning and overall they did a great job. A+++ for sure! read more

And the desk clerk was extra helpful throughout my 2-day stay. Very nice indoor swimming pool and hot tub. Conveniently located. I was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked Holiday Inn Express in Fort Brag. We reserved 2 rooms. One room with 2 beds and the 2nd room with 1 king bed. Honestly, my expectations were low because Holiday Inn is a 2 to 3 star rated hotel (dont remember exactly), and rates were low at the time of booking. The hotel from the outside didn't look like anything special. The hotel on the inside looked either remodeled or new. The hotel lobby was clean and so were our 2 rooms. The rooms were basic but clean. More importantly it was clean. The staff was nice and helpful. My only complaint was it was kinda musty smelling (my husband didn't smell it). I just bought an air freshener at the dollar store and it fixed the issue. The complementary breakfast in the morning was great. I was double charged by this hotel for my room after paying on hotels.com. The property did not help at all! They told me to contact hotels.com for help. Additionally the room was cold and literally had a hole in the AC open to the outside, and the temperature control was broken. The room was very overpriced for average holiday inn amenities. This was my family's first time staying here and we had a wonderful stay. We had a room with two queen beds for my husband, myself, and two children ages 7 and 4. We loved the indoor pool and hot tub. The fitness room has great equipment. They offer a full breakfast with lots of options. The staff was friendly and helpful. I definitely recommend this place if you would like any of the amenities they provide, and especially for those with children. My husband loved the complimentary coffee bar open 24/7. I am a Holiday Inn fan and typically choose the brand to stay in when I'm traveling. I have to say this particular location is nothing to write home about. The rooms are older and outdated, although they were doing construction so they may be working on this. The front desk staff was nice and quick for check-in. The breakfast (during COVID times) was lacking for Holiday Inn Express standards. There is an attached parking lot, but it is small which made it somewhat difficult to find parking (especially for a bigger car). Overall, a fine enough place the stay. The beds are comfy, the room is clean and it's got the basics. However, I don't think the inflated price is worth it. I wouldn't pay more than $120 or so for the rooms here - anything else and you're better off looking elsewhere. read more

This place was meant to be for me ! I found it the day of my arrival to Fort Bragg and was a game changer ! I left no ran from my original hotel that I booked the Seabird lodge ( see my review for that dump ) and was able to get a suite with a balcony. Front desk guys were amazing and found me a room with excellent customer service , fast friendly and understanding. They also have me a recommendation for Noyo grill which was the best ( see my review for Noyo grill )Room was clean , large and located on first floor corner. This place is one of the best in the area just bummed I did not get to use the indoor heated pool or hot tub. I just didn't have time. Clean everywhere well maintained with beautiful flowers everywhere. The complimentary breakfast is great , pancake machine , fruit, oatmeal , eggs potatoes bacon sausage, cold cereals, yogurts and bagels and cream cheese . Definitely loved that too ! On a road trip to see the redwoods and decided to stay here! I was nervous about having bad experiences at the local hotels/motels and decided to put my trust in Holiday Inn. We arrived late at night and had no issues checking in and although the parking lot is small we never had trouble finding a spot. We were on the third floor and the views were spectacular! Almost as if we were in the forest itself. The free breakfast was a great deal as well, they provided pastries, eggs, bacon, coffee, milk and more but it changes from day to day. It's nothing gourmet but at least it's free! They also provided soap, shampoo and conditioner so that was a plus. We did find a random single ant on our bed but nothing else. I'm a regular at various Holiday Inn chains as I hold one of theIr IHG Credit cards and am a Platinum Elite member. This is how this particular Holiday Inn compares to other one's I've stayed at. Pro's: 1.) Front Desk Check-In: Amazing. This is one of the best check-in's I had in a long time. As we are visitors to Fort Bragg, CA, the check-in guy was super helpful. He brung out a map of the area and showed us how Fort Bragg looks overall. He also recommended two restaurants to try (Casa del Sol, Noyo River Grill) and gave detailed and easy-to-follow directions to get there. Friendly, courteous, and helpful. What more can you ask for? 2.) Breakfast This is consistent with other Holiday Inn's I've stayed in. The area was maintained very well, ample seating, and the food was well-stocked. The lady who was maintaining breakfast also checked in often and when the meat (Pork Sausage, Bacon, Turkey Sausage) was out, she would go back and cook more and bring them out. Same options as the breakfast you usually get at IHG Properties including yogurt, eggs, a pancake machine, juices, etc. I'm glad the breakfast was to the standard I expected. Great job! Now for the list of Con's: 1.) Price - It's super expensive A one-night stay at this location was $189.99 not including the 13% City Tax that is put on afterwards. Including the city tax, the total bill was $214.69. This is very expensive in my opinion but maybe due to the fact that it's not a highly populated area, the rates are going to be high. 2.) Old Rooms You'll immediately notice that this is not a very modern hotel. The room looked old and has an immediate musty smell once you walk in. There are holes in the window screens on the doors leading to the balcony and just an overall run down feel. However, our room wasn't as bad as other people's rooms who have reviewed it. We did not experience any ants and uncleaned sheets/bathrooms. Our room was overall decently clean and the the bed was soft. 3.) Thin Walls We stayed in Room #119 which is the handicap room with a king sized bed. I guess we got unlucky as there was a family with two kids above us and we could hear them stomping around. One of the kids was walking/running around all night and it was quite annoying. Luckily we had some ear plugs to shut that noise out. Overall, I think this place is okay for a one-night stay in Fort Bragg. However, the next time I come, hopefully the rate isn't as high as $189.99. I think It would have been better around the $100 - $120 range. read more

This review is for me and my fiancé's recent stay April 7-9th. I absolutely loved this hotel! The room was super clean and it looked pretty new/updated (wasn't old with yellow lighting compared to other Holiday Inns). We had the forest view on the 3rd floor. Microwave and fridge included in the room which is great! I love that they have a pretty nice selection of breakfast ranging from cereal, bagels, pancakes, cinnamon rolls, sausages, bacon, cheese omelette, hash browns, and biscuits with gravy. The staff here are super nice and friendly. I often saw the staff disinfecting/cleaning the lobby too. Coffee is complimentary throughout the whole day. read more

I would like ro recognize Aiden and Marietta on the BEST customer service ever! When I came in, my booking got messed up by the travel website. Instead of giving me a run around, these two associates not only fixed my problem, but got me a beautiful room and answered all my questions. Ok I'm leaving a low/middle of the road review for the problem listed below. But before that, Pricing, availability, staff, accommodations, etc everything was perfect. You can tell it's an older location that's been updated. Regardless a good place. HOWEVER after arriving late and exhausted I wasn't paying close attention when I closed the door, but I made sure to dead bolt it and use the door stopper like everyone does. The reason for 2 star rating... In the morning when I went to leave I tried closing the door (count it) FOUR times... and attempts 3&4 were full on slams. Even with checking for obstructions and lock functionality each time, the door wouldn't latch. While checking out I politely and quietly (so others eating nearby wouldn't be alarmed) informed the desk clerk about the door failing to securely latch. The response of "how many times will they try to fix that door instead of replacing it" was unsettling to say the least. Knowingly renting out a room with a door that doesn't securely lock is dangerous! Come on y'all! read more

One thing I love about Holiday Inn hotels is that so many of them allow animals for a fee. We have our Cinnamon the Husky, who is our service dog, but we did some research before we left home to find a hotel that would allow us to bring him along. This was a two night stay for our honeymoon in the Mendocino area. I will admit it wasn't our first pick, but the first hotel would not take dogs and the second was booked up, so even though there was no ocean views, we were grateful for a nice, clean room. Unlike most Holiday Inns, there were rooms that had openings to the outside directly and we did not go through the lobby. The room was nice and clean. I will say the bottles of shampoo and stuff were very small which was annoying, but I had my own stuff. The parking lot was also very small and there were several very large work vehicles that took a bit more than one full spot. I do wish they would have worked it out together so that parking would have been easier. You have to get back to the hotel early for good parking, which is not an ideal vacation. I do recommend calling to make sure that they have the right room available for you if you are traveling with a pet. It is always a best practice. read more

Stayed here due to a last minute trip on Memorial Day weekend...the only room left was a king suite. The room was really small but it came with a fireplace, flat screen, fridge, and microwave. The bed was ok...the pillows were the deal breaker. They were super flat and I had to layer 3 of them to support my head. When we checked in, we saw the cleaning lady leaving our room. I felt a little odd wondering how clean was our room...really??? Well, to my dismay, there was still hair in the tub and also on the pillows. Obviously, the room was cleaned in a half ass manner. Gross. Cleanliness is my number one when it comes to hotel rooms...this one shattered my number one to pieces. The AC and fireplace both worked great...I don't think it was worth $180...but you've gotta take what you can get on a holiday weekend. Oh, and free wifi! The only reason I gave it 2 stars was because the front desk person was quite friendly. The breakfast is what you would expect from a hotel. The pancake machine is pretty gosh darn cool. We stayed here during 4th of July weekend for two nights. One of two hotel options available in the area for pets. Located in Fort Bragg, its very close to many beaches and parks... and accessible to many restaurants and grocery stores around the area. Before coming here, we were asking quite a few questions regarding what protocols they have in place to ensure safety of guests and workers during the pandemic. Some things to note, must wear mask when inside the hotel (definitely), there are gloves for guests to use, breakfast is in room 115 and all are grab and go items so options are limited, hotels are at 75% capacity... I was worried about the AC but they mentioned they used HEPA filter. I checked in Friday afternoon and our room was ready to go. We have a dog so we got the pet option which works for us... our hotel room was accessible outside in the parking lot so we don't have to step inside the hotel lobby. This was a relief as we were concerned about sharing spaces with others. Our hotel room was a bit pricy for two nights, but we did book it on a holiday weekend a couple weeks before. It was almost $600 after taxes, pet fees, etc. I don't think we had neighbors on one side of our room which is good. The room was a bit old... definitely not modern and it may need some renovation sometime in the near future. The carpet seems dirty as I saw stains on them... the bathroom was standard. We wiped most of the surface down and sprayed Lysol before settling in. The whole time we had no problems with noise and we didn't interact with anybody our entire stay. I checked out online and left the key in the room, no need to go to the lobby or anything. It was a pretty quick and easy stay. Parking was plenty and free. There weren't many areas for our dog to use the restroom, we would walk in the patches of grass on the side of the road. Hotel was easy to find... we will definitely stay here again if we are in the area. read more

I heard a whole divorce going on in the room next to me. I got to my room at about 1am after a long drive from San Francisco. This couple was loud from the start. This man is shouting at the TV and you hear a woman yelling at him to shut up and they just kept yelling at each other till 4am. I believe they kept going but I was finally able to pass out. Shower and sink faucets loose or not installed properly. Upon arriving around 8pm had to wait at empty front desk for a good 10 minutes until employee showed up. Checked in and given room keys. Find out room is outside main hotel with door to parking lot. So this is really a motel. Not a hotel. Fine. Get to room and both key cards don't work. Try rubbing magnetic strip in all directions. Doesn't work. Go back to front desk and they make two new keys and deactivate old keys. Go back to room and keys work. Two mornings later upon returning to room after lunch we find out keys don't work. Go to front desk. Same situation. New keys made. Employee indicated that they very easily lose magnetic coding. Seems like something they should fix. Never had problems like this at other hotels. It worked for 3 nights but we'll stay elsewhere in future. This place could be a solid 4 stars if they kept it clean and functioning. Due to being run down and not maintained this is short of 3 stars now, especially for $200+ a night. read more

The hotel itself was pretty breathtaking. It was a close proximity to the beach although when we visited weather conditions did not permit a visit. I was able to see my first banana slug on their premises and our room overlooked a beautiful wooded area. The staff however and the patrons visiting made this location less than ideal. We were also overcharged which they said was a common occurrence and this person working there had been doing so yet never credited us the amount. If you like the location and are willing to overlook getting swindled or robbed this might be a place to stay. read more

Wow where do I even begin?! This was suuuch a nice hotel and wr enjoyed our stay immensely. The front desk staff was aaamazing to start. The young man and young lady were friendly and so accommodating. When we needed towels they brought them to us with a smile. When our room key quit working they came right up to let us in! The continental breakfast was nice and hot. The reception area is spotless and the pool and spa were lovely. Now let's talk about our room. The carpets were clean, the bathroom was spotless and the bed was MORE comfortable than my own. I would love to know where they get the sheets from because it's the most comfortable bedding I have ever slept in. The room was quiet and you didn't hear any traffic or noises from other rooms. In the bathroom they have a nice shampoo, conditioner and body wash on the wall. Not the usual cheap crap that will dry our skin out like most hotels have. After I took my shower I went to blow dry my hair and guess what? They have a professional brand blow dryer. That was very nice touch especially since I am a hairdresser. The only negative I have is the TV channels are lacking. Out of a lot of channels most you have to pay for, but who goes to a hotel to watch movies? Bottom line, this was the best hotel we have EVER stayed in and we travel quite a bit! We can't wait to come back and stay here again. Located in the Fort Bragg Mendocino area off the highway one. This Holiday Inn Express is cozy. There are some pet rooms here to which are reasonable rated for one to book. For being a pet friendly hotel, there wasn't much pet relief areas. We were greeted by the friendly staff and checked in on a rainy day is an efficient manner. Hotel grounds are spread out. Stayed for two nights. Room is comfortable for the double queens (mountain view- only pet rooms available). Looking around the property there isn't much view of ocean either. Fridge and microwave were in need of repair. Bed was okay. Room temperature was alright. Continental breakfast was offered. It was alright. Nothing spectacular but good spread. Something for everyone. Checkout was ok. Overall okay. Best pet rate in the area. Room was ok. Good quick service. Bad a little work on the room is needed. I would come back because the rate is hard to beat for a hotel. read more
