Declawing, which is amputation of the third digit of the toe, sentences a cat, if it lives through the surgery and recovery, to lifelong pain and suffering. I recently spoke to an employee at this hospital and asked if I could send them information on how detrimental this is to cats, she said they are well aware that it's detrimental and they have no need for supporting documentation. They will continue to offer this major surgery. Many states are banning this, making it illegal to perform this mutilation of a cat's paws (doesn't matter whether a guillotine-type cutter, scalpel, or laser is used--it's inhumane). Please read the truth about "declawing" in these links: https://citythekitty.org/declawing-facts-vs-myths-humane-options/ https://www.declawing.com/the-truth-about-declawing To find an ethical veterinarian who will not declaw, and who honors their oath "do no harm" here is a link: https://pawproject.org/no-declaw-vets-directory/ It's important not to support veterinarians who perform procedures/surgeries that they know is harmful just to increase their bottom line.

I have been to this clinic twice, and both times the desk staff didn't look up or check me in for my appointment until I stood there for a few minutes and then stated my business to get the ball rolling. Same thing happened after my appointments when I was trying to pay. Both times I was the only one in the lobby. I got the impression that they were not particularly engaged or invested in their work and they were just going through the motions. I have nothing against just getting through the work day, but I don't necessarily trust that attitude to be best for my pet. My cat really is my family and I want sharp staff that are present in the moment. My biggest issue came about two months ago when I thought my kitten was dying because he was foaming at the mouth and making choking sounds. The emergency vet was closed so I called here because they were my primary vet and I didn't know what to do and needed help. They told me they couldn't fit him in that day (which I get) and that I should just wait until my scheduled appointment two days later. I told the person on the phone that I thought he was dying and that it was an emergency and asked if they had any suggestions for what to do. I was told again to wait for the appointment but that if I was that worried I could call around to other vets in the area. I asked if there were any that might be able to take him and she said that I could call and find out, and then promptly said goodbye. This experience was terrifying and I felt like the person I spoke with had no concern for the situation and was not willing to spend time with me on the phone. At the time it was very distressing to me. After calling two clinics in tears (and really apologetic and concerned people on the phone), Advanced Care Pet Hospital said their vets were willing to see my cat between regularly scheduled patients. The vet was wonderful and easily diagnosed my cat with his condition and helped me understand how to manage his health.

I rushed my pom into his hospital in complete hysteria and they immediately jumped into action to try to save her life. Unfortunately she was already dead. I wasn't a patient of his clinic but he still welcomed me. He spoke very comforting words in my time of distress. I was a complete train wreck losing my furbaby but Dr. Neilson remained calm and showed me empathy. He didn't charge me. He helped me make funeral arrangements and allowed me as long as I need to grieve in the room with my dog. I could really feel the love and care Dr. Neilson has for animals and humans. I am grateful to have came across this clinic and I plan on using them when I add another furbaby to the family.

She was given a clean bill of health, everyrime was normal when we left other than the respiratory infection which was common as she had allergies. She was a healthy, playful, loved kitten. She died within 45 minutes of being seen by Dr. Nelson and the only explanation I got was "these things happen". No accountability whatsoever!!! I paid $300 for these people to kill a sweet, innocent kitten and in such a horrific way. DISGUSTING!!!!

The staff is…read moreknowledgeable, compassionate, and thorough, and I appreciate that they are AAHA accredited -- something only a small percentage of clinics achieve. That accreditation really matters when it comes to emergencies or situations requiring surgery, because it means they follow strict standards for safety, anesthesia, cleanliness, diagnostics, and medical protocols. If you want top‑tier care for serious or urgent issues, this is absolutely the place to be. I was offered one of their Canine Wellness Packages, and while the flyer was helpful, I didn't receive much detail about the terms, conditions, or exclusions beyond what was printed. I like to fully understand what I'm signing up for, especially when it comes to annual plans. I purchased the $432 Wellness Package, which includes two comprehensive wellness exams, two intestinal parasite screenings, internal organ function screening, and 5% off additional services. The flyer shows there is also a $663 Enhanced Package, but I wasn't offered that option during my visit. For reference, I spent $3,557.73 last year on my middle‑aged chiweenie, and the wellness plan saved me $1,404.59 -- which is impressive for a healthy dog with no chronic conditions. She only had a few minor issues like diarrhea from eating something she shouldn't have. I can see how this plan might be even more valuable for dogs with chronic medical needs, but for my situation, it was still a meaningful savings. Companions also accepts direct pay from Trupanion, which makes expensive emergencies far less stressful because you don't have to pay everything upfront. They also accept CareCredit, which is helpful if you need assistance with payments. I also really like their app -- being able to chat with staff and book appointments directly is incredibly convenient. That said, due to financial reasons, I'll only be bringing my dog to Companions for true emergencies going forward. For routine vaccinations and annual checkups, I recommend looking into a prepaid plan through Petco's Vital Care Premier, which offers unlimited exams and discounted vaccinations at a much lower cost. Overall, Companions Animal Hospital provides excellent care, especially for emergencies or complex medical needs. Their AAHA accreditation gives me confidence, and their staff has always treated my dog with kindness and professionalism.
