New York Craft Brewers recognize this establishment as a brewery (and they may have been at one time), but when we walked in and I saw Miller Lite on tap, I knew something was up. Most of the beers in this tap house are brewed outside of New York, and NONE are brewed in-house. We bought one beer, got our stamp, and got the hell out. A major disappointment. read more

Really enjoyed coming here after cider tasting at Pennings which is a short drive away. We ordered pizza from the pizzeria next door and walked it over to the brewery. I enjoyed the live music that was in the brewery it was a nice touch. I had a flight but the brown ale was my favorite. Unfortunately I liked it so much I couldn't get a picture haha. Swung by this brewery with my good friend, Harry P. I have never heard of Pine Island Brewing Company, but i guess it's cuz they're a really small operation. They share a building with a homebrewing supply store, which probably helps in a pinch. I tried most of their beers on tap by getting a flight. Most of the beers were pretty average, nothing super memorable. But the staff was friendly, and my bartender was right, their best beer is the oatmeal stout. Totally passed right past the place because there was a food truck out front, and it covered the entrance. Cool little brewery, very friendly staff, and a great outdoor seating area. The beers I had were pretty average, but they are still under 2 years old, so I am sure they will figure things out. My favorite beer was the oatmeal stout, very tasty, hints of chocolate and coffee. I stopped into this brewery twice and both times were unimpressive. The first time they just changed their name and seemed to be pretty disorganized. Some of the items out had their old name and other items had their new name on it. They were also out of about half the beers on tap. The ones we did try didn't really stand out enough to write down the names. I chalked it up to them transitioning into a new company so I waited a few months and decided to give them another chance. I do like the set up here, it's in an old garage and it looks like they could open the door during summer for a fun outdoor vibe. The lights are also super cool here. Unfortunately, the second time I came here the beers still weren't that great. They weren't bad, just nothing special in my opinion. If you've never been here I still recommend checking it out, it's a cool spot with a fun vibe, just don't expect mind blowing beers. read more

Fine little brewery. Nice setup and the outdoor garden is great for those warm summer days. Good brews the Scottish Ale and Pulaski Highway Session IPA were my faves. Mike was great and explained the background of each beer and his wife Melanie tended the taps on the outdoor deck. Very relaxing place to hang and sip some suds. Opened up October 2015, this brewery is located in the old town firehouse. The atmosphere in the place is really cool. The bar tops are made from refinished wood found in an old local barn. After meeting the owner, Mike I believe, he explained his brewing methods, how he got started, and his favorite beers. He really knows his stuff. Cool guy to talk to, as well. But all that stuff has no effect on the reason why you should come to this brewery: THE BEER. They have 5-6 beers on tap right now. I first got a flight just to try all of them. I had never had a Scottish Ale before, so I didn't really know exactly what to expect. It was so smooth, great taste, and so drinkable. I can't wait to see this beer bottled in the future, it's really going to fly off the shelves. They have a great IPA, which is 7.9% ABV (or so), but you would never know it. A great beer to have with friends. They are pretty inexpensive too. A token system is used; one token is good for one beer. $5 for one token, or $20 for 5 tokens. Growlers are for sale too. Don't blink or you'll miss this place in Pine Island! Across from the Pine Island Firehouse, it's a small bar/brewing company with a decent selection of beers on tap. The two times I've been, they're mostly dark beers and I'm really not a huge fan so it was hard for me to rate all of the beer. I would have liked to see more of a selection. The hours are a bit limited which is a bummer especially on Friday nights as the weather warms up. The staff were wicked friendly and welcoming which I always appreciate. My only drawback to this fine establishment is that it is a pretty far hike for me as I live in Newburgh. Pine Island is kind of in the middle of nowhere, but the brewery is set up in an old Firehouse, and very cozy with plenty of room inside at their spacious bar, or out back in a nice patio setting. Great selection of beers, so there is something for everyone. No food yet, but hopefully they might offer some in the future. Growler prices are very reasonable, so make sure you take some of their delicious beer home with you. We also picked up a few of their glasses, which are quite cool. A winner!!! read more

I finally had a chance to try their beers. Went there last Sunday. Beers are very average and need more clarity. It was cloudy (milky). The guy with a bird was kind of mad at everybody and gave people attitude from time to time. I think he should find himself something better to do than being a bartender. Also, my last 2 reviews for this business were removed (I wrote them 3 stars reviews). So now they get only 2 stars. Nothing really special there...still no real bar food or a tavern atmosphere. This little brewery is the perfect small but homey brewery. There are only about a half dozen brews on tap, but each is quite tasty and an excellent taste of the style. They are even dog friendly. We love Pine Island Brewing Co.! We are so lucky to live right down the road because their beers are SO good and this is such a sweet little spot. This was my second time to Pine Island, and I love it! Get the beer tokens, 5 for $25. They are worth it and NEVER expire! I know, because I had a couple left over from last year and was able to use them without any issues. Stopped by maybe 3 or 4 times last summer into fall. They have some really decent beers. But I felt for the price asked and the quantity, they were a bit expensive. Quantities are a bit of a 'gotcha' - don't assume that the serving size is a typical pint, it's more like 12 oz or as little as 8 oz, mostly all for the same price or wooden coin. Make sure to take cash- they will charge card carrying hipsters tax, and build in the suggested minimum 18% on the taxed bill (instead of base) when buying their wooden coins (which you trade for beer). Are we supposed to tip again when laying down the wooden coins? A couple of the times, the service wasn't even friendly or slightly personable. It's good beer, but there are other breweries in the remote area to go to. read more

We stopped in on an impromptu visit from New York City by means of floating the Delaware River, and I have to say that the beer, atmosphere and service were all outstanding. I sympathize with the growing pains that a brewery faces in the first few months after its opening, but you can clearly tell that this place is on the right track.
