During the conversation, the billing representative acknowledged that the insurance information had been entered incorrectly by the office. I wasn't upset that a mistake happened. I was upset by how the office responded after acknowledging the mistake. There was no apology, no ownership, no empathy, and no willingness to discuss any reasonable resolution. The response was simply that it was my responsibility. I want to be clear that this review is not about Dr. Chen's dental work. I was satisfied with the treatment I received. My disappointment is entirely with the administrative and billing staff. Patients rely on insurance estimates to make important financial decisions. When the office makes a significant mistake, I believe the minimum expectation is to acknowledge its impact and treat the patient with respect. Unfortunately, that was not my experience.

What I've discovered is that Dr. Tom sold his business to a corporation when he retired and in general it seems that it's more profitable to hire "assistants" with fewer skills and the Doctors, who are not trained as hygenists, do the cleaning.
