It felt welcoming, clean, and had a relaxing atmosphere that set the tone for the rest of our visit. Check-in was quick and easy, and the staff made the process smooth and hassle-free. Our room was spacious, beautifully decorated, and very comfortable, making it easy to unwind after a day of exploring. One of the highlights was the beach and pool area. The beach was clean and relaxing, and the pool had an awesome vibe with a live DJ playing music throughout the day. It created a fun atmosphere without feeling overcrowded, making it a great place to spend the afternoon. Overall, this resort delivered a wonderful experience with beautiful accommodations, great amenities, and a lively yet relaxing atmosphere. We'd definitely stay here again!

Ultimate Bait-and-Switch: Deceptive Photos, No Water, and Financial Theft…read moreBefore relying on older reviews, know this: The Lake Arrowhead Inn was bought out by a new owner a year ago, and hospitality has been replaced by predatory business practices. As a savvy traveler who spends 30-40 days a year in hotels, I have never seen a property run this deceptively. The Illusion: The rooms are vastly smaller in reality than the wide-angle marketing photos on their website lead you to believe. The Bait-and-Switch: We booked a premium Lake View room for our anniversary. Upon arrival, they gave our room away. While I empathized with the staff reassigning it to accommodate a handicapped party, the owner used it as an opportunity to scam us. Hostile Management: When I requested a rate adjustment for the cheaper, downgraded room, the owner became combative on the phone, refused any change, and tried to blame Expedia for his own greed. Zero Amenities: We reluctantly accepted the cramped room just to get ready for a private event, only to find the water was completely shut off with no timeline for repair. The Theft: With no running water, we had to walk away. The owner completely refused a refund, forcing us to eat the entire cost and pay for a second hotel out of pocket. This owner will take your money, provide zero basic infrastructure, and leave you stranded. Do not gamble your hard-earned money or special occasions here. Look elsewhere.

Arrowhead Pine Rose Cabins is a family owned establishment and has been for decades. Each of the…read morecabins here are stand-alone cabins on 6 acres of forest. They also have a really nice event / wedding venue on the property. We stayed in the Little House on the Pond cabin which shared a small man-made pond with 3 other cabins. (Side note: Arrowhead Pine Rose Cabins isn't in Lake Arrowhead proper but about a 20 minute drive east on the 189 in the small township of Twin Peaks - which is a nice mountain town but it's a bit of a drive away from Lake Arrowhead) These cabins are really cute. They are rustic yet comfortable - the sofa & chairs are comfy but I wish the sofa was deeper. There are 2 full size beds in the 2 upstairs bedrooms and the beds are super comfy! The one we slept in had a down mattress pad which really upped the comfort. There was also a nice comforter. On the downside, I am tall and I barely fit lengthwise. My feet were on the bottom rail and my head was up against the headboard. Ample parking: our cabin had its own small driveway to park in. The party lights on the deck were really nice for sitting outside on the Adirondack chairs at night. It was also really nice to build a fire in the fireplace on a crisp night. We had a lantern with a dead battery and the maintenance guy came very fast to replace it. There are lots of dishes and cookware to make snacks & meals and they have lots of things you can check out from the office like smore sticks, french presses, orange juicer, veggie steamer, charcoal BBQ, chop sticks and much, much more. On the downside: One of the big reasons we got this cabin was to have a fireplace...and they charge you $10 for a bundle of wood, which is annoying considering how much we paid to stay here (including an $80 resort fee - that doesn't include a bundle of firewood!!?) Tip: We picked up a fire bundle at Grocery Outlet for $6 that was significantly bigger than the one they had sitting by our fireplace for sale. The other big reason we got this particular cabin (Little House on the Pond) was for the big claw tub and it was very disappointing! First of all, you want a claw tub so you can relax & soak in a deep tub, and this tub is not deep enough to stay submerged. When I filled it up and got in, the water drained out the overflow drain until the water that remained in the tub left me half out of the water. You really want to soak in these things and you better do it quick here! (Note: We mentioned this when we checked out and he said they would look into getting a water level extender to put over the drain or something) Also, their hot water heater isn't big enough to last till this tub is full enough to get in. It ran cold after a while and I had to stop filling and let the hot water build back up and do that a few times to have a reasonably warm full bath. The stairs in this cabin are a neck breaker (very steep), almost like a ladder. The bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs. This could potentially be dangerous going to the bathroom in the middle of the night (or for anyone who has a challenge walking). They should at least put in some nightlights on the stairs so you can see them when it is dark. On the admin side, you have to wash all your dishes and take out your own garbage or be charged a $60 fee. I have never (even at lower priced hotels) been told to wash my own dishes and take out my garbage. I kinda get it if you have a big family with 8 or 10 people - I'm sure they've had lots of people leave it a total mess, but for 2 of us it was a bit annoying to pay what we did and have to clean up everything. I mean part of being on vacation is to have people wait on you and not have to worry about these things - especially for what I paid to stay here. Another thing, when we checked in we asked for pool towels and she got us a few but told us in the future we needed to bring our own pool towels...Then what are we paying such a high resort fee for!!? After all is said and done I am giving Arrowhead Pine Rose Cabins 4 stars. Again, this place is cute, nice and very comfortable but with all the dings mentioned above, I can't give it 5 stars.

Amenities include swimming pool, jacuzzi, tennis courts, basketball court, sand volleyball court, hiking trail, WiFi, parking and an on-site restaurant. Cabin accommodations come in different configurations with most rooms including a fireplace and deck offering beautiful mountain or lake views. We've visited the lodge three times now. The last time was October 2020, and it was great to discover that UCLA continues to upgrade its facilities with new amenities including a tavern (they serve adult beverages!) as well as pickleball courts. We've enjoyed our visits every time, but IMO the cabins are due for a renovation/upgrade. After our most recent visit Memorial Day weekend, I would also warn guests to beware of oakworms or leafrollers (moth caterpillars that rappel down on silken threads) which seemed to be everywhere this time of year. From food staff to receptionist to bar staff, everyone was so accommodating. One small thing though was the drinks from the bar tasted a bit funny. Both mine and my partner's drinks had this weird barbecue sauce flavor, which was odd! The lodge is a quick 20-minute (free) bus ride to the village, which is small but definitely worth a visit. :)

We were greeted by Chris and given a tour of the spaces available to us which included a kitchenette stocked with snacks and goodies (midnight cereal, YES!), a wide selection of DVDs and board games. The room had a little fireplace, lounge room, large bathroom (no bathtub) and a super cozy bed. The ONLY thing that was less than perfect as that the blanket was a tiny stuffy smelling. We very much enjoyed this B&B. Be sure to check out the Belgian Waffle and the Village just across the way.

This rating is based on the price point this cabin type facility is compared against not your city hotels. Unit was clean, sheets clean no excessive wear, quaint stylish molding around the floor and ceiling. There is as a large window size A/C unit which they vented through a wall and neatly duct-taped to close off the wall hole. The finishing of the furnace and older dry wall was a little rough but acceptable. Close to Lake Arrowhead city center, was walkable but you do need to walk along the road without sidewalks so we brought a flashlight for safety in the evening. Jennifer the checkin staff was very friendly and warm. There was a bunch of snacks: Lays Chips, trail mix bar, cans of Coke, popcorn of can microwave in the room, selection of DVDs to borrow, your basic Best Western cereal dispenser, Thomas muffins, peanut butter and Jam family size container. Pleasantly surprised there was a healthier option which I had, fresh strawberries and blackberries and family size Naked juice, and yogurt w only 2 grams sugar. The room had the mini k-cup Peet/Starbucks coffee. For Tv options, you do need to register your personal streaming service with the room AppleTV device. Being in the mountains there was 2-3 bars for WiFi. I heard one unit had ants but ours didn't. Will be back.

So, it was strange when this happened: After a really bad booking and check-in experience at Fleur De Lac European Inn, where the owner asked me to leave after wanting extra cash on top of existing booking, when I already paid via another booking website (**at check in, mind you)... walking in and talking with Karen, the owner/manager of 21 years, was a sweet relief from the chaotic energy from Fleur. Karen greeted me with respect, laughs, patience, and a room (#28) that was head and shoulders above anything Fleur was offering, and it was for a similar price. She and room 28 made me feel welcomed, and Karen made sure I had everything I needed, after a bad experience. I would go back just to talk with her, and her staff. Honorable mention is Michael, who was such a positive and humorous energy at the desk. The bartendress, forgive me for not catching her name, was wonderful and welcoming, as well. It's a shame they shut down the bar area around 9pm. It's a place you want to cozy up to, late into the night, and exchange stories well into the evening hours. I'll be back, and will stay there... hopefully sooner than later.

The last time that I was at Lake Arrowhead was during a 6th grade field trip, so I was curious to see how much the area had developed since then. The Saddleback Inn is located near Lake Arrowhead Village, which is a very short and convenient walking distance from the inn if you want to get out and explore. The Saddleback Inn is also adjacent to Diane's Saddleback Grill, a restaurant that is affiliated with the inn. Note: If you want to check in or out, the front desk is located inside the restaurant. Once you check in, you'll be directed to your reserved cottage, which individually stands apart from other cottages. I thought that was awesome because you get more privacy. There is also a 7-11 nearby if you want to grab snacks or drinks. Our cottage (#26) featured a King-sized bed, television, mini fridge, microwave, extra storage space, and a bathtub with jacuzzi jets. The Saddleback Inn is also pet-friendly, meaning both dogs AND cats are welcome to stay, considering that many lodging establishments don't really accept cats. We brought our cat with us during the trip, which she seemed to enjoy. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay at the Saddleback Inn and hope to return someday!

Here's the good: free parking. Now for the rest. Starting with security--or the lack of it. The only visible security was a guy in a security uniform wandering around the "bistro" during breakfast and staring at guests. Other than that, anyone can walk into the lobby, onto the patio, into the bar, up the elevators, and onto the guest floors. No key access is required anywhere. The Wi-Fi situation is also concerning. There's a guest network, but there are also several suspicious room-linked networks showing up. Whether they're legitimate or not, it certainly doesn't inspire confidence. The lobby bistro was disappointing. The food was bland, watery, and overcooked. When I ordered tea, it arrived in a teapot with a broken handle. Not exactly the level of hospitality you'd hope for. The elevator didn't inspire confidence either. The doors began opening before the elevator had fully stopped at the floor, which felt more alarming than convenient. The room itself was pretty janky. A decorative scarf tossed across the bed seemed to be doing a lot of heavy lifting in the design department. The bathroom sink was missing the drain cover, the bed squeaked and creaked with every movement, and the walls were paper thin. We could clearly hear the TV from the neighboring room. There's only a few tv stations and no streaming options. The second floor was noisy overall, with parking lot sounds carrying late into the night and starting up again early in the morning. If you're hoping for a good night's sleep, lower your expectations. The pool and spa area were equally disappointing. The hot tub had food and something dark floating on the surface, and children were using it unsupervised. The view from the pool isn't relaxing either--unless freeway signs are your idea of scenic. What bothered me most was how misleading the photos are. The pool looks lovely online. The room photos show bathrobes that don't actually exist. The food photos displayed throughout the hotel look appetizing and polished, while the actual meals that arrive bear little resemblance to what's advertised. Overall, the photos sell a completely different experience than the one you'll actually get. Aside from free parking, I struggled to find much to recommend here.
