Outdoor patio where we had a delicious lunch.

My Daughter surprises me on Mother's Day for an early dinner. I was completely surprised because I thought it was private for only people affiliated with UCLA. They told us they changed it after Covid. You need to call for days you can dine there. The buildings we saw for lodging look great. Lovely pool area. There is a lot that we did not see. Worth going there to have a meal and or spend the night.

I stayed at the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge over Memorial Day weekend for a school intensive, and the setting was absolutely beautiful. The campus is serene, tucked into nature, and perfect for a retreat-like experience. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive! Thank you to the front desk, who were super helpful throughout the stay (note: they close at midnight). There's a ton of free equipment available to borrow, including playing cards, board games, wine openers, tennis rackets, pickleball paddles, basketballs, yoga mats, and ping pong gear. It made downtime relaxing and fun. The Zen Deck was a personal favorite: it was peaceful and picturesque. A lot of the lodge's outdoor amenities are located at the top of Cardio Hill, including the amphitheater, campfire pit, hammocks, and a softball field. There's also a children's playground, pool, indoor hot tub (also closes at midnight), tennis, pickleball, and basketball courts, and a gym on site. The lawn is so lush and incredible to lay out on in the sun. No lake access though:( Cabins were roomy and private. I liked the loft and how each room gets its own private bathroom. The fireplace is nice, and the outdoor patio seatings are nice to sit in and enjoy the outdoors without having to venture far from your door. We dined at the on-site restaurant every night, and while the food was a bit of a mixed bag, the menu was unexpectedly creative. I didn't expect dishes like shakshouka at a mountain lodge. Some standouts were the green goddess fennel salad, carne asada, and tri-tip. I especially enjoyed the breakfast options (the French toast and cinnamon rolls were excellent). A few meals missed the mark (the pork loin was dry, and some of the desserts lacked flavor), but the salmon and soup were always solid choices. Seats are indoors in the dining hall and many people opted to sit outdoors on the deck for lunch. The North Shore Tavern is connected to the dining hall and opens in the afternoon. Shoutout to Felipe, who went out of his way to offer alternative dessert options like mango sorbet when the main options didn't quite hit. It's that kind of service that made the experience feel personal and welcoming. Also, they offer several discounts (seniors, AAA, SoCal residents, first responders), so be sure to use them!

Really loved staying here, although it was extremely cold (it snowed right after we left), they were super sweet about welcoming us and sending us some extra firewood for our Chalet. Would love to come back during summer :) super fun and relaxing and calm location!

Absolutely incredible property and perfect for a family getaway. We lucked out with all the snow in the days before we got there which made snow play and sledding so fun and easy with our daughter in the central courtyard. We love the movie nights. The loft style cabin with fireplace was great AND we got lucky with a patio overlooking the stream. This is the first time we tried the food and cocktails in the tavern and both were great and reasonably priced. Can't say enough about this place and can't wait to try it in the summer as well.

Since 1982 UCLA has overseen the operations of this resort. From silent movie era filming to modern day getaway lodge, this facility has transformed over time. Spent a few days here for a retreat. We did not stay in the rooms but had access to several of the amenities; jacuzzi hot tub, hiking trails, short slope snow bank, tennis court, volley ball, bike trails and pool. The conference center for the retreat was right for the size of our group but we made it work. The food was good and the staff very helpful. We received excellent feedback from my folks about their experience. Great service, courteous hospitality and a tranquil atmosphere

We go annually for a medical conference and it always goes well. Service is always friendly, and the catering team is top notch. The rooms have that rustic touch, no TVs, for example, but they do have WiFi.

I live up here in Lake arrowhead and I come here for lunch now that they opened it up to the public. Let me tell you today was the best lunch I had in my life buffet style with short ribs with chimichurri and chicken that was so moist and delicious along with everything else you could imagine. It was great service and great atmosphere along with of course the food. Highly recommend it.

UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge is a gem. Everything about the property is top-notch. The staff are warm and kind, the food in the dining room is incredible, there are lots of fun activities like arts and crafts and pickleball. Such an amazing place to spend time as a family and unwind and unplug.

This is my second time staying at the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge. The first time was in the early summer of 2018 for 3CSN's BSILI leadership institute, and the second time was this past week for the Puente Equity Summit. This review covers both of my stays here, as each was outstanding. UCLA's Lake Arrowhead Lodge (I'll just call it "the lodge" after this to spare my thumbs) boasts an ever-changing fine dining menu with breakfast/lunch buffets and 3 course dinner service. Breakfast is served at 8:00 am, lunch at noon, and dinner at 6:00 or 6:30. The food is high quality and healthy with options to satisfy most tastes. Service (drinks during breakfast and lunch, full service during dinner) is provided by a skillful staff of young folk. UCLA students? Local residents? I can't say, but they are professional and hardworking. The cabins at the lodge are terrific! They are rustic cabins like you'd expect in the mountains, but the furnishings are of a higher quality. The beds were great, the cabins themselves were well-insulated, and the plumbing/shower were quite modern. Each cabin also has its own stable, strong Wi-Fi. The cabins don't have televisions, but this is a retreat facility, not a hotel. They do, however, have fireplaces. I don't know how UCLA did it, but they managed to secure one of the most beautiful locales in Lake Arrowhead for their retreat center. Check out my photos to see what I mean. I tossed in a gratuitous photo of myself with Anna D. to show just how happy we were at the lodge. The conference rooms are comfortable, large, and tech ready. UCLA also maintains tech support staff to help during workshops/presentations. Conference rooms are pretty much the same almost wherever you go, but these ones look more like mead halls out of Beowulf than generic dry walled rooms in a business park. At the end of the day, it's the location and the food that really sets the UCLA Lake Arrowhead Lodge apart from its would-be peers. My time spent here was wonderful and refreshing, and I applaud Puente and 3CSN for choosing this location for their professional development retreats. Now I just have to find a way to get back here!

We just got back from our two night snow adventure. We had a wonderful time connecting with our two teen daughters. We played board games, pickle ball, volleyball, hiked around the like, enjoyed the dock, our fireplace with lots of wood, sled, made a snowman (it snowed while we were there), sky deck, jacuzzi with a fireplace and ate a few meals there. I would say this is a place for families to connect. I really only saw families but we did go over the Christmas/New Years Holiday. When it isn't summer this lodge is open to the public.

Since our room wasn't ready yet, they gave us beach access cards while we waited, which we really appreciated. We ended up walking to the village for breakfast (about a 6 minute walk) and did the boat tour while waiting. Around 12 PM, we received both a text and a call that our room was ready. The room was clean and the lake view was absolutely beautiful. The kids loved the pool, and we enjoyed relaxing in the hot tub. We also went down to the lake to catch the sunset, which was definitely a highlight even though the water was freezing. They had movie night and game room as well. The only downside was the TV in our room. It was pretty outdated, static at times, and we wished it had Netflix or streaming options where we could log into our own accounts. The hot tub could've also been cleaner. Overall, it was still such a relaxing getaway and a perfect Mother's Day trip for the family. We'll definitely be back again!

Let me start with a good review...the location of this property is excellent. It's very convenient,…read moreeasily accessible and close to the lake which made it appealing for our stay. Upon arrival, Lia at the front desk was welcoming and courteous. She asked if we needed two room keys; although we mentioned that one would be enough, she still provided us with two. The room itself was decent. however, we encountered a few issues. The balcony door could not be locked which was concerning. While I was working on my laptop at the table, I began to feel intense itchiness on both of my legs. I tried using wet paper towels to relieve it but it was with so much discomfort so I eventually had to stop and walked away. At around 6 PM, my wife and I went to use the hot tub which was one of the main reasons we chose this hotel. Unfortunately, the water temperature was warm, or maybe less than warm. So much so that most guests could not stay longer than 15 minutes. We did stay for a good 30minutes. Another guest even asked his wife to report it to the front desk. When she came back, she said that the issue had already been reported earlier but it appeared that no action had been taken. The chlorine level seemed extremely strong. The following day which is today, after doing laundry, my wife pointed out that the underwear I wore in the hot tub had changed color, from black to brown. compared to my underwear. Along with that, I've been experiencing ongoing itchiness, irritation and dryness on my legs and other parts of my body since using the hot tub.

They also have a really nice event / wedding venue on the property. We stayed in the Little House on the Pond cabin which shared a small man-made pond with 3 other cabins. (Side note: Arrowhead Pine Rose Cabins isn't in Lake Arrowhead proper but about a 20 minute drive east on the 189 in the small township of Twin Peaks - which is a nice mountain town but it's a bit of a drive away from Lake Arrowhead) These cabins are really cute. They are rustic yet comfortable - the sofa & chairs are comfy but I wish the sofa was deeper. There are 2 full size beds in the 2 upstairs bedrooms and the beds are super comfy! The one we slept in had a down mattress pad which really upped the comfort. There was also a nice comforter. On the downside, I am tall and I barely fit lengthwise. My feet were on the bottom rail and my head was up against the headboard. Ample parking: our cabin had its own small driveway to park in. The party lights on the deck were really nice for sitting outside on the Adirondack chairs at night. It was also really nice to build a fire in the fireplace on a crisp night. We had a lantern with a dead battery and the maintenance guy came very fast to replace it. There are lots of dishes and cookware to make snacks & meals and they have lots of things you can check out from the office like smore sticks, french presses, orange juicer, veggie steamer, charcoal BBQ, chop sticks and much, much more. On the downside: One of the big reasons we got this cabin was to have a fireplace...and they charge you $10 for a bundle of wood, which is annoying considering how much we paid to stay here (including an $80 resort fee - that doesn't include a bundle of firewood!!?) Tip: We picked up a fire bundle at Grocery Outlet for $6 that was significantly bigger than the one they had sitting by our fireplace for sale. The other big reason we got this particular cabin (Little House on the Pond) was for the big claw tub and it was very disappointing! First of all, you want a claw tub so you can relax & soak in a deep tub, and this tub is not deep enough to stay submerged. When I filled it up and got in, the water drained out the overflow drain until the water that remained in the tub left me half out of the water. You really want to soak in these things and you better do it quick here! (Note: We mentioned this when we checked out and he said they would look into getting a water level extender to put over the drain or something) Also, their hot water heater isn't big enough to last till this tub is full enough to get in. It ran cold after a while and I had to stop filling and let the hot water build back up and do that a few times to have a reasonably warm full bath. The stairs in this cabin are a neck breaker (very steep), almost like a ladder. The bedrooms are upstairs and the bathroom is downstairs. This could potentially be dangerous going to the bathroom in the middle of the night (or for anyone who has a challenge walking). They should at least put in some nightlights on the stairs so you can see them when it is dark. On the admin side, you have to wash all your dishes and take out your own garbage or be charged a $60 fee. I have never (even at lower priced hotels) been told to wash my own dishes and take out my garbage. I kinda get it if you have a big family with 8 or 10 people - I'm sure they've had lots of people leave it a total mess, but for 2 of us it was a bit annoying to pay what we did and have to clean up everything. I mean part of being on vacation is to have people wait on you and not have to worry about these things - especially for what I paid to stay here. Another thing, when we checked in we asked for pool towels and she got us a few but told us in the future we needed to bring our own pool towels...Then what are we paying such a high resort fee for!!? After all is said and done I am giving Arrowhead Pine Rose Cabins 4 stars. Again, this place is cute, nice and very comfortable but with all the dings mentioned above, I can't give it 5 stars.

We brought our cat with us during the trip, which she seemed to enjoy. Overall, we very much enjoyed our stay at the Saddleback Inn and hope to return someday!

Now, I don't go…read morethere for wedding festivities, therefore, can't review on that, but I do go to enjoy a couple of days of relaxation. Since I've now visited this place often, I can totally say that unfortunately nothing much has changed. The rooms are not updated the way they should be, get rid of the dirty carpet already I would say. The bathrooms need a lot more updating than placing a new shower head and think that will do the trick. Doesn't work that way. The sink still has a huge crack in it as far as 3yrs ago. Attention to details is not the owner's forte at all and it's now pretty obvious that it will remain so. Flowers outside the entrance should be real, again, 3yrs and they still have the fake flowers in their pots, fake flowers, even fake flowers need changing after a while especially when the sun is strong in the summertime, fake flowers will fade the colors away. Just buy some inexpensive REAL flowers already, it can't be that hard to water them and would make the entrance look much nicer. Still having those annoying barking dogs come right up to you, totally wrong to say the least. The whole place, the front desk especially does not look clean at all, and the fact that they serve breakfast which by the way I assume they have a permit to do so and charge you the same amount of money that other restaurants around the area do, is absolutely ridiculous to say the least. Who's even cooking it for you? Regardless, they shouldn't charge you so much. What's totally wrong as well, is when you stay here, the owner or whomever is helping at the time, they use the kitchen to make themselves breakfast, the smell of it goes right up to your room as early as 6am, and it wakes you up. I understand they need to eat but you have guests staying here and I am almost sure that no one wants to smell bacon and eggs as early as 6am, especially when it's not even a weekend when that is the ONLY time they offer breakfast. Totally uncalled for. The other bad experience this time, it was quite cold, so we went to our room sooner than we normally would have wanted to, but there is a TV so we just wanted to relax and watch a movie, the TV wasn't coming on, it took and no kidding here 2 hours before the TV started working, there was no signal for 2 hours, 10pm no one is at the front desk any longer so we couldn't get help and I wasn't going to bother even if I could have since the TV should work properly. We also wanted some tea before bedtime, I couldn't believe how dirty the coffee machine was, just disgusting to say the least, so we didn't get any tea as I was not in the mood to clean up for the owner who should take the time to look at everything around this very small area, and make sure everything is clean for her guests, it's not a huge area at all and everything is at a very minimum space, two steps from the front desk is where they finally by the way, after years, have a coffee machine, yet, it's too much to keep it clean and neat. Other places around the area, offer continental breakfast daily, some offer some sort of muffins, this place only offers coffee/tea unless you stay in the weekend when they rip you off charging you prices like a real restaurant, and after all it looks and feels of total lack of caring, and no attention to details at all. The owner got lucky to have this property and it's sad to see how very little enthusiasm she cares to put into it. You don't need much to show that you care and want to make the place look presentable, nice and clean. As far as I now can see having visited often, it's so obvious that the owner only cares to make money, raises the prices as most do I get it, but other than that can't care less about how the place is kept. Even the outside where you can sit and look at the beautiful views, totally dirty both on the floors and some of the chairs they have outside for you to sit on, just carelessness is all I can keep stating. I recall staying here in one summer, 2yrs ago to be exact, she had a temp helping while she was on vacation. It was a nightmare, and I am sure the owner knows nothing about it. Let's just say that the temp was mostly upstairs with her boyfriend then downstairs, the bell on the desk, well, it was used quite often if you ever needed anything at all. I'll leave it at that. There was much more and all unpleasant. But the owner needed the vacation. This place has a lot of potentials; it is an old house turned Hotel but it could be spectacular if the owner would really try to put more effort into and turn it into what it could be. Of course, if you are not happy, go elsewhere I'm sure is the attitude. The views are spectacular for sure; however, they are not the Lake Views, they are the city view's, therefore, if you want the Lake View since you are at Lake Arrowhead after all, that's not what you'll get, nevertheless, they are beautiful.

We had our guests book their own rooms and due to the size of the wedding and the property, it felt like our own little world for the weekend. The Skyview offers a great vendor list, but are totally fine with you bringing in your own vendors as well. I loved that they had the tables, chairs and linens as part of the booking fees. Sitting on the rim, weather can be tricky, but The Skyview also offers an indoor space if the weather turns. All in all, it was a wonderful experience and truly the perfect day!

For some reason, we thought the Bear Springs Hotel was a lodge. It definitely is not. It's a dumpy…read morelittle hotel squeezed between a busy freeway and a Walmart strip mall. Here's the good: free parking. Now for the rest. Starting with security--or the lack of it. The only visible security was a guy in a security uniform wandering around the "bistro" during breakfast and staring at guests. Other than that, anyone can walk into the lobby, onto the patio, into the bar, up the elevators, and onto the guest floors. No key access is required anywhere. The Wi-Fi situation is also concerning. There's a guest network, but there are also several suspicious room-linked networks showing up. Whether they're legitimate or not, it certainly doesn't inspire confidence. The lobby bistro was disappointing. The food was bland, watery, and overcooked. When I ordered tea, it arrived in a teapot with a broken handle. Not exactly the level of hospitality you'd hope for. The elevator didn't inspire confidence either. The doors began opening before the elevator had fully stopped at the floor, which felt more alarming than convenient. The room itself was pretty janky. A decorative scarf tossed across the bed seemed to be doing a lot of heavy lifting in the design department. The bathroom sink was missing the drain cover, the bed squeaked and creaked with every movement, and the walls were paper thin. We could clearly hear the TV from the neighboring room. There's only a few tv stations and no streaming options. The second floor was noisy overall, with parking lot sounds carrying late into the night and starting up again early in the morning. If you're hoping for a good night's sleep, lower your expectations. The pool and spa area were equally disappointing. The hot tub had food and something dark floating on the surface, and children were using it unsupervised. The view from the pool isn't relaxing either--unless freeway signs are your idea of scenic. What bothered me most was how misleading the photos are. The pool looks lovely online. The room photos show bathrobes that don't actually exist. The food photos displayed throughout the hotel look appetizing and polished, while the actual meals that arrive bear little resemblance to what's advertised. Overall, the photos sell a completely different experience than the one you'll actually get. Aside from free parking, I struggled to find much to recommend here.
