I have never heard the word compounding in a medical sense. But Pine Pharmacy is well known for this certain technique. I find this practice to be a great idea. Finally, you can get prescriptions that are catered exactly to your needs. PP also has plenty of vitamins, supplements, and even CBD items as well. Located inside the Walker plaza and a bit pricey, this is a nice pharmacy without that pharmacy feel. Pine offers a variety of products from human medications to pet meds to holistic care, cosmetics & skin care, trinkets, pure tart cherry juice and more. You can even get medications that have to be compounded. With that being said, they require a 48 hours notice for a refill on compounded meds. We have to refill Omeprazole for our Pomeranian mix every 30 or so days, but it's hard to tell exactly when to order 48 hours in advance because it's a liquid and it's hard to tell when it will run out. It's also tecommeded to discard after 30 days. read more

I have issues with fillers that are used in some medications so I started getting a couple of my meds compounded with Pine Pharmacy. Every single transaction I've had with them has been truly amazing. Everyone there is kind and very responsive. I live a couple hours away so they have to mail my meds to me but they are very prompt. Who knew I'd have to get a compounded prescription for my cat? It has a hard time taking pills, so I got the vet to prescribe the med in liquid form. I got the prescription from the emergency vet on Friday night and took it to Pine Pharmacy on the Saturday morning of Labor Day weekend. They said that they probably wouldn't be able to fill it until Tuesday, because they closed at three and they had a long list of prescriptions to be filled. When I said something like, the cat's uncomfortable, but if we have to wait, we will, they said they'd do their best. They also offered to flavor it. I was thinking vanilla or raspberry and was puzzled, but they suggested chicken or fish. At about 2:30 I got a call from the pharmacist saying that it would probably take twenty more minutes before the prescription was filled, but he wanted to call me then so I'd have time to get there before closing. I got there at four minutes to three, not sure if it would be done. It was, and the pharmacist took the time to explain its workings to me. I was the one who ended the conversation and told him to start his holiday weekend. It was after three and the other workers were already leaving. This guy is devoted to his job. The cat now takes the full dose, poured over his chicken-flavored soft food. And the humans are breathing easier. Yes, things from this place cost more than at your local CVS or Rite Aid. But I'm willing to pay a little more, for everything from candles to chicken-flavored medications, so that Pine Pharmacy will be there when I need it. You get what you pay for. read more

Super expensive is an understatement. Most items seem higher priced than other pharmacies. Prices seem to be based on the old adage, "What ever the market will bear. I would also suggest being wary of vets directing you to this pharmacy for pet med's. A thimble size medication of eye ointment for our pet came to $65. They say if you have to ask how much it will cost you should not be in that store. They also say when the profit factor exceeds the customers needs they will take their business elsewhere. read more

This place is super expensive. I go here because I have mitochondrial dysfunction and my specialist has a medicine compounded for me here. It is literally the only place in the area that does it, so I'm very grateful for that. Insurance covers most of it, so that's good. They also ship the medication to me if I don't want to brave the Williamsville Main Street traffic (it's awful!). The pharmacists are very knowledgeable and they are very good at contacting me whenever there's a question. The place is filled with remedies for everything, particularly things affecting the wealthy suburbanites (read: anti aging and beauty supplements). The products that they carry are very high quality, though. read more

Extremely expensive, really unhappy with the service. I react severely to almost everything, and am currently limited to FIVE foods I can safely eat, so when physician prescribed a compound supplement I had to research carefully, so as not to make myself sicker with the thing that's actually supposed to help. Was concerned about one of the ingredients, and talked with the pharmacist at Pine. I asked if it was possible to get a smaller amount to try, before purchasing at $180 for one month's supply, out of pocket. He said it wouldn't cost any less because most of the expense is for setting up the machines, to fill the capsules. I explained I didn't need it in a capsule, I wouldn't be starting with the full capsule anyway. He said it wasn't his business policy, but he could fill the prescription and I could return it within 2 weeks if I found I couldn't take it. That sounded reasonable so I agreed and gave a credit card number over the phone. Well, I did react very badly to the compound, but when I returned it was told I could have store credit. What would I use a store credit for $180 for, in a compounding pharmacy, when I have problems taking pretty much anything? Pharmacist insisted he had said this over the phone, he did not use the words STORE CREDIT because I would NOT have had the prescription filled. He argued with me about it, and actually used the words "I'm sorry if YOU misunderstood". I was fuming, but trying to remain reasonable, I floated the possibility of remixing the compound without the suspected problem ingredient, he said physician would have to call in a new prescription, and if I found I couldn't take it there would be nothing he would do about that. Treated me like I was trying to cheat him. Really didn't like his attitude, and at this point, do not want him filling anything for me. There are ways to inspire trust and he failed miserably. Compound pharmacies typically deal with people seeking relief from conditions out of the ordinary. It's not unreasonable to expect they would be familiar with situations like mine. He could have provided a small amount of each ingredient separately (none of these substances require a prescription), and charged for the sample amount. I wasn't asking for anything for free. Find a combination that will work for the customer, and you have a sale of $180 each month long term. As it is, I do not now like or trust this pharmacist, and found pure, high quality ingredients in the prescribed compound separately online, that cost MUCH LESS than what Pine charged. Don't need them in a capsule, I'll mix them in smoothie. Will never deal with Pine Pharmacy again after this experience, and will utilize my big mouth to tell anyone who will listen they can likely find a better deal elsewhere. read more

Had a script there for years because they were supposedly "compounding"it - Armor Thyroid. Recently stopped handling it only to discover they never made it there, charged me $117 per bottle when I get it at Walmart Rx for $30. Shop around people. read more

After reading the reviews I was shocked to hear how people are dissatisfied--I had a completely different experience. Typically, if you're having medicine compounded, you're desperate enough to pay out of pocket for that service. I did pay over $100 for my medication yesterday, and I was so satisfied with the customer service here that I returned to browse. If you want high end things, they come at a cost. If you need medication and they're the only ones who can help you, you should rearrange your priorities. With the kindness of each of the people I spoke with, I'd keep coming back. I came from overseas and this was the only pharmacy from New Hampshire to Canada who were able to help me with my meds. I am over the moon with the pharmacist who spoke with me direct over the phone as well as the billing lady who explained what exactly she needed from me. And the beautiful ladies at the front desk made good conversation with me as well. Customer service couldn't have been beat. I hope I don't need any more meds after this, but if I do, I'd fly back to this area again to have that kind of assistance. read more

Yes, I agree that they are expensive BUT you cannot find anywhere that is more precise with ingredients necessary to make a compound drug. They are very friendly and the pharmacist will take the time you need to explain whys and the whats of the drug. Yes, it is much cheaper at any drugstore but the quality of the ingredients and the measurement of them does not compare. You get what you pay for. read more

I have dealt with Pine Pharmacy and I think they are awesome! Although their prices are not competitive with most of the vitamins required to treat my mitochondrial dysfunction, the mito-cocktail is worth the money and cannot be purchased anywhere else. The pharmacists are awesome and the staff is very friendly and helpful. I would recommend this pharmacy to anyone who asked. read more

The staff at Pine Pharmacy go way above and beyond any of the 'normal' pharmacy staff you'd find at the name brand stores. They are extremely nice to customers and will answer any of your questions in a cordial and professional manner. They prepare any type of compounded prescriptions on-site and the pharmacists do a great job of insuring the best value for their patients and will work with insurance companies to make sure that you'll pay the lowest amount of co-pay possible. I'm very confused about the other reviewer's 3 star review as it seems to contradict her actual experience with this pharmacy? They are a terrific asset to the Williamsville/Amherst community and I encourage all of my family and friends to use them for their scripts. My wife is an NP that practices in the Niagara Falls area and she said their location in the Falls is just as good, if not better. She gets many compounded and older medicines for her patients through Pine and she said she would never use anyone else.
