Nancy, Steve, and Megan are all wonderful people and hosts. Very accommodating and flexible in…read moretheir style. This is their third season with the Atlantic Birches Inn. By all signs they have a firm hold on the art and difficalities associated with this line of work. Our unexpected room, the "Honeymoon" suite, provided us with a slight chuckle given we are in our Thirty-First Honeymoon Season and still counting. The room open, airy, and comfort. Featuring with 5 large bay windows overlooking the main street and down toward Old Orchard Beach. Our 31st Honeymoon included a private bathroom, two upholstered chairs, an arm chair and a "fainting chaise" (my favorite), and an oak desk for my nerdy internet access. There are two guest houses, the Main Inn and Adjacent Cottage. Both quaint and appear built by craftsmen of the early 1900's. Beautiful oak floors and stairs with the most interesting mid-stair nook with oval stained glass. Outside: Away from the hustle and bustle of the Beach, but close enough to walk down to. On premise are groupings of Adirondack chairs, a shaded gazebo, a modern heated in-ground pool, and my favorite the wide wrap-around porch with french doors to the dining room. Make sure you pay a visit to their vintage hand-crafted duel rocking chair and center table; very relaxing. Breakfast: Served continental family style with a personal touch; such as, homemade baked goods, and stovetop specialties. On our first morning: Tea, delicious Coffee, muffins, fresh fruit salad, DIY toast, yogurt, and the most delicious scrambled egg platter with sausage and vegetables including sweet potato. "Chef" Nancy said she cooks gluten free for herself and is always willing to accommodate dietary needs. Our second morning, Stuffed French Toast topped with fresh fruit and a side of crispy bacon. Many thanks for a great get away!

The Nancy and Megan are lovely ladies who take a lot of pride in the care of their home and guests. The home was originally built in 1902 and the charm remains untouched! The location is perfect, short walking distance to the main street and the beach, and Nancy was able to recommend local restaurants worth checking out. The rooms & bathrooms were tidy and well kept, and both pool and bath towels were provided for us during our stay! Finally, she prepared a DELICIOUS breakfast in the morning and even brought it out to us as we sat on the porch. Next time we're in Maine we're staying here again.

Ok so this was a unforgettable experience. Let's start with this, the pics in the reservation part…read moreof his website are all the same . Just one unit. The cars that are parked in the pics are his to make it look busy. So we rented a unit for 4-5 days and was one of the worst places I've ever seen. First we showed up and the owner Mike was upset that we were 1 hour early. Not bad considering no one has been there in days . Next, his 2 person cleaning crew had quit over a dispute with money owed to them. I don't blame them at all. We lost electricity for 7 hrs during one of the days and Mike would not talk to us directly, he lied to us numerous times about a car accident that never happened. I called the town ELEC company and there were no reports of any at all. Then he told his two man crew who did come back to work to tell us they would have itnon any minute. 4 hrs later we were ready to leave this dump. So finally when the lights came on he told his people to lie to us yet again and say they shit the wrong property off . What a joke this was. All the dishes and silverware was disgustingly dirty and sticky . I spent my vacation skimming the pool because the owner was getting drunk and losing control over the rest of the property . Don't let them fool you, there is NO useable playground and the rotted wood that is below the slide has holes in it and the sand had dog and cat crap in it . There is no arcade like his advertising says . Just disgusted . But took a thousand pics to show all the code violations and to have for proof. My 11 year old was in the pool and discovered a Cut ELEC wire sticking out of the water being held by a Brick . But of course he was too busy sitting in his bedroom (drinking and drugging as we were told he does everyday and night by all the neighbors ) to ask about this wires . When he finally came to our door 3 days after arrival he was hammered and slurring all his speech. I have proof of everything I'm saying since I took video and pics of this crap hole . Do your family a favor and go somewhere else . Then this guy says he remembers us from last year which is a riot since we've NEVER even heard of this place but he claims he remembers us very well. I wouldn't let him pay us to come back Stay away !!!!

Great place to winter. All expenses paid and affordable. Clean and welcomes pets.read more

Being right on the beach was amazing, and that section of the beach wasn't busy at all. Our stay here was awesome, all of the staff were super nice and I felt comfortable knowing if i needed help with something I could get that. It felt more like staying somewhere i've been before even though i haven't. Also, The kitchen is convenient especially because I realized i forgot a knife to cut some food i brought but the kitchen had everything i needed! Super convenient place, i would definitely stay here again!

The place is perfect for relaxing! The rooms are about 20 feet from the beach and they have nice comfortable chairs on the deck. The public kitchen is open to make breakfast and lunch, but closes at 7 pm. A disappointment if you want a family meal at night. The rooms are clean and simple, but the mattresses are way too hard. If you are looking to relax with a quiet location right on the beach, the place is great. If you want a little city life, Portland is only 20 minutes away.

I'm torn between giving them 3 versus 4 stars so I will do 3.5. This place is very cute and quaint…read moreon the outside and they seem like nice hard working people. But there's so much they could do to improve on things that would make this place awesome! First of all, the fact that this b&b is from the 1700's is just amazing. I totally respect antique things but there's a big difference between antique and just plain outdated old things. The pillows were awful. Flat and smelled a little funny. The bedsheets along with the matress were not impressive either. Those are the main important things for a b&b! My room was also decorated with plastic flowers all over the place...felt like I was at a grandmas house. Other than those things the breakfast was very good. I'm not sure what others are expecting but there was a good variety of yogurt, fruit, bagels, cereals, eggs and some other stuff I thought was a good layout. The location is awesome too just across the street from the pier and the beach. I will most likely not be back though cuz beds are very important to me but maybe the other rooms are better!

It was a little confusing as to where we were staying since theres multiple buildings and our friend's room had no hot water in the shower, also a warning to all that the toilets are extremely small and we are not even big people. We stayed in the sandcastle suite 7 on the top floor and had a perfect view of the ocean. Only steps to the beach, you can't beat the location! The suite was clean and spacious. My only complaint would be that the pullout sofa was pretty uncomfortable but the kids didn't seem to mind. Office staff was super friendly and accommodating! I'm not sure if it was due to Covid but they do not offer housekeeping during your stay so just an FYI. However they were more than willing to swap out beach towels and bath towels as often as we needed. We will Absolutley be back! And do yourself a favor and venture out for dinners - the Landmark restaurant right across from this hotel is the only good spot to eat in OOB. The rest are tourist traps And some are downright gross. Drive 10-20 minutes to Scarborough or Portland for some amazing food

Very clean and updated suite. Very comfortable, had a kitchen, separate bedroom, and seating area. Would be great for an extended stay, though we are only there two nights. The manager was EXTREMELY helpful and friendly - even accommodating us on our late check in. She asked we simply knock on her door when we got in (even if it meant waking her). We also could check ourselves in and do paperwork the next day if necessary. I would definitely return, and bring the family. Great stay!
