Very poor customer service. Promised more than he could deliver in order to get the business. Didn't call when there was a problem. Revealed the issues only when I stepped in to collect the job. Started suggesting arbitrary solutions to the problem of tag holes going through the text !!! When I expressed my displeasure at the way things were being handled, he basically showed me the door. As if giving my money back was the only way out. Finally, a simple solution was worked out. All these could have been easily avoided if on the very first day he gave me a proof of the hang tag with the hole punched. He wouldn't since "Pine Press can do everything". I for sure won't recommed Pine Press to anyone. I went there as the job was urgent. Big mistake !!! read more

I recently had some booklets printed by Pine Press and was extremely pleased with the end result. Hassan was very patient in going through the process with me, reviewing the various options, cost factors, and reviewing the document on the jump drive I presented. He was able to adjust the color on the pictures and ran a sample booklet for me to take home to review. By taking the extra time to proof read my document for the 4th time I was able to find a few pages that I did not catch minor errors on previously, as well as changing one of the pictures included in the booklet. I returned the jump drive the next day with the changes, and was assured the work would be completed in 48 hours. The work was done on time, and the booklets were "outstanding"! I was very pleased with the work, as well as the cost involved, which was "very reasonable" when I compared it with rough estimates received from 3 other printers in the Silicon Valley area. It's time I write a review about Pine Press. I've been doing business with them for years. The person who runs this cares a lot about each project and often stays later to get the job done in often faster-than-normal requests. He always does what he can and is reasonable. Although this is a local company, the pricing is extremely competitive and often much better than chain print shops or even long distance online-only print shops. I travel 45 minutes to work with them specifically vs other print shops in my area. I recommend going there in person and taking the time to show what you need, although I have worked with them from long-distance and they ship. When you work with this print shop, you are 100% supporting a local business and obviously a person and team who is working hard. I appreciate all the work they have done over the years. read more

I have used Pine Press several times (others in my office have also used them for their own projects), and they have been GREAT each time we have gone through them. I will DEFINITELY use their services again. 1. Their work ethic is the definition of "Professional". Helpful, extremely communicative/available, competent, efficient. Everything you want in a company who is handling your print job, especially on a tight timeline. I am not a professional design artist, and have struggled getting the right dimensions/layout for printing when using Adobe InDesign. When I lost the document I had created with the correct dimensions due to computer issues the day before I needed the document, I called Pine Press to see if they had a template I could use for my document. While they didn't have one that met my needs on hand (though they do have other templates available), Hassan, the owner, was able to very quickly and professionally, walk me through the steps to set up the document again so that it would print correctly. (i.e., "You will see a tab that says, '[XYZ]' - click there, then at the bottom of that box, you will see '[ABC]'; click that, type in '[123]' and you're set." - took less than 5 minutes and saved me at least an hour of Googling how to do it.) When I turned in the document, he walked me through how to save it with printer's marks to ensure that everything went smoothly. 2. Fast! As I mentioned above, I had to start from scratch the day before I needed the printed document in hand. I needed one hundred (100) 20-page booklets (8.5" x 11" sized pages, full-bleed, color). I submitted my document for print around 10:00AM (after staying up all night to get it done). Hassan was able to not only get the booklets printed and assembled in time, but he had one of his staff members DELIVER (for free!) the documents to me in my office in Palo Alto by 4PM the same day because he knew that there was no way I would be able to get to him before they closed on Tuesday evening (I needed the documents before 9AM on Wednesday). 3. High Quality: He chose a beautiful glossy paper for the booklet, the colors were true to the document we created, and the images (which included photos) were clear/crisp. Really nicely done. We got many compliments on how they turned out ("These are so professional!", etc.). Again - you can tell they were done by a professional. After seeing the difference between the print quality and professionalism of FedEx Kinko's vs. Pine Press, there is no question about which one is actually worth the money. 4. Awesome Extras: He also threw in an extra 25 booklets (for a total of 125) for free on top of the free delivery (perhaps because we're returning customers? Either way, it was awesome.). Not sure there is much more I can say about how great they turned out or how happy I am with them, but in short: if you're looking for a high quality print job handled by true professionals, this is the right place. read more

Trustworthy place to get your prints done beautifully and quickly--you can count on your projects, no matter how big or small, to look great. Frankly, I'm impressed by the wide array of services and different paper types that Pine Press offers. Rather than simply being just a copy-print service, Pine Press seems to cater toward the design aspect of printing as well. I am a graphic design student with a constant need for high-quality prints, and I can see myself heading to Pine Press for any future projects I may have to get printed. There's only one thing that may prevent me from making Pine Press my go-to print shop: a disaster of a first-time customer experience. I needed to print a book of around 300 double-sided color pages, and Pine Press was able to complete this daunting task in under 20 minutes with a high-quality laser printer (note: when printing this many pages, NEVER print inkjet. It will take 10+ HOURS, as I have learned the hard way). However, as I got ready to pay, I realized that the spreads were all wrong, because of one page excluded from the beginning. I realize that this was mostly my fault, but I wish that measures were taken to prevent such a mistake from happening, because I had no idea that the spreads would print out of order if there was no extra page at the beginning of the book. I was able to get it reprinted, but at full cost: essentially, I paid a total of $300 for two prints. I realize that this may be classified as a customer error, but I wish that the employees could have been a bit more understanding of the situation. Though they were initially very helpful and kind (I was allowed to sit at their computer and go through the entire file to make sure that my prints would be accurate), they later made several snide remarks about how much ink was wasted. I feel that this was an unnecessary and unprofessional comment to make, particularly after my profuse apologies for the inconvenience and my statement that I would pay for a second print. Pine Press is an invaluable print shop that offers many helpful services such as wire-o binding, trimming, perforating, and folding. Though my first visit was marred, I am willing to give them the benefit of the doubt for the sake of my prints. read more

I grew up in Sunnyvale and never even knew about this printing place...have always just gone to Kinkos cuz that's all I knew and back then, there was no Yelp! I had a special project which I thought was going to be unique and possibly impossible, but I came out a happy customer. First of all, when I approach a business for their expertise and come in a bit intimidated because I'm not sure if they might think my project is too out of the ordinary, ridiculous, or too small a job for them to want to take, my first impression is how they listen to my request and respond to it. I just don't like walking away from a business feeling stupid or rejected. Well, I came in and was helped by the owner (oops, so sorry, I forgot his name) and I immediately explained what I needed done. I needed 3 laminated signs for my 3 tenants in my house to help them with the alarm system (so each would know who's in/out of the house before arming the alarm). At the least, I thought I was going to walk out with my 3 yellow "OUT" signs laminated, but I ended up instead walking out with 3 laminated "OUT signs in 3 different colors and with the tenant's names included in 3 different colors also. The owner helped me design the 3 signs and was very patient and calm while giving me his opinions on each. At the end, I was one HAPPY customer. That's the sign of excellent customer service. Listening to your customer, remaining calm as they explain their difficult task (which to them may not even be), and slowly guiding them to a nice resolution without any pressure or attitude.
