Like most wineries in the Stag's Leap district, Pine Ridge has great cabernet's. I particularly like coming here for tastings as the place is done up real nice, there's a fairly large tasting area and the gardens are great to peruse. I love the Silverado Trail. It's not nearly as busy, it's more picturesque, and as a freak for Cabernet, it's so good to taste here. I could bike along it and hit up tons of wineries along the way, each time stopping at Pine Ridge. It's that nice. Had to dock it a star though. I was a member of their wine club and I've been sent a bad bottle on more than one occassion. Aside from that, superb wine, and a fun stop for any tasting caravan. read more

today i had the pleasure of celebrating an early thanksgiving with a fabulous group of friends!! my thanks to john for giving us a wonderful tour of the pine ridge property and labyrinthian caves!! john gave a history of napa and specifically the stags leap district while we enjoyed a taste of the only chardonnay grown in the appellation.... after a short walk along the vines, we were taken into the tank room where the wine is kept in stainless and new concrete eggs from italy. we moved into the network of tunnels which create the perfect stable atmosphere to age the exceptional wines in both french and american oak....we were led into the inner sanctum of cellar 47 where we were treated to an amazing pairing of five of the finest cabernet sauvignon's i've ever tasted!!....my fave...the howell mountain, amazing fruit, dark cherries, subtle nuances of tobaccco n leather, balanced tannins and long, i mean really long finish, which captured my heart!! each of our cabs was perfectly paired with an small bite expertly prepared by susan lassalette...my thanks to john our guide and kevin for organizing our amazing thanksgiving experience!! i am truly grateful....shout outs to christine, chris, jason, ryan and patricia!!... read more

Pine Ridge has a nice property and tasting room, though it is fairly small and can become cramped when completely full. We opted to try both the $20 standard tasting and the $40 estate tasting, and found our pourer to be friendly and knowledgeable about the wines, but distracted by having too many customers. She didn't leave us with empty glasses for too long, but wasn't around to chat much either. As for the tastings, the standard wines are ok, but not that great. The estate wines are generally good, but are priced as if they were great, unfortunately ($80-$140) The most notable wines include the current Howell Mountain and Stags Leap cabs. The Andrus Reserve is a very nice wine, but overpriced compared to similar flagship bottles (hello Cambium!!) from competing wineries. (Yes, we're apparently spoiled by our favorite places) Pine Ridge is worth a look, especially for "comparison tasting" with other wineries in the area, if you have the coin for the estate menu. I wouldn't bother doing the standard menu though... Spend that $20 bucks elsewhere, or split the estate menu with a friend read more

They're always so accommodating for me and my friends, the tours are great and that cave is amazing, it really is a shame they don't do weddings(no one in napa does). the fortis is to die for and is the reason I joined the wine club. Everyone is friendly and nice and so accommodating. Plus the vineyard itself is gorgeous. read more

We happened in here by chance. Were in the SLD, had a coupon for a 2-for-1 tasting and thought, 'why not?' Great decision! We tried both the current release and cab tasting. Cabs were all excellent, particularly the hard to find Stag's Leap District and Fortis. These were probably the best wines we tasted during our trip to Wine Country. We ended up buying 3 bottles in total. The wines aren't inexpensive, but they're very good. Friendly, knowledgeable staff. Our wine host, Chris, was really cool and answered about a million questions that I had. He was even alright with me grilling him about attending the CIA in Hyde Park. We did get there early, but it apparently gets crowded during more peak times. This winery also offers seasonal cooking classes throughout the year. The current release tasting is $15 and the cab is $25. Tasting fees are waived with purchase. read more

After our wine host at Reynolds Family Vineyards recommended Pine Ridge, we headed straight over. We tried both the regular and reserve tastings. I wished I remembered our host's name because she was wonderful and very generous with the pours for our large group. We ended up buying 7 bottles so it did not go to waste. I am generally not a fan of Cabs but each one we tried was great in a different way, particularly the Stag's Leap. I picked up a bottle of Rose that was not on the tasting menu but seemed perfect for a brunch. I really enjoyed my experience here and highly recommend it. read more

Our wine tasting excursion on Saturday landed us here through my boyfriend's suggestion. Our timing was perfect because the tasting room wasn't as crowded until we left, when people were actually waiting outside to get in. We all had the current release for $15 tasting. And we were spoiled with their "true" white wine which was crisp and delicious down to their Merlot which are definitely pasta worthy :D The gentleman helping us was efficient and friendly. And he wasn't all about too much education, but letting us just enjoy our day of tasting. Definitely would love to come back, especially for a tour. read more

Great time at Pine Ridge Winery! I was on a hosted tour and the guide was friendly, passionate and knowledgeable about the product at this winery. On top of that their wines are pretty darn good! We bought our own lunch and was seated at nice picnic tables under the trees. Beautiful setting nestled under the Pine Ridge and Stags Leap rock. The fermentation caves are interesting, barrel tasting was such a treat and the Dale Chihuly piece on display is quite wonderful. Leah and I arrived first thing on Sunday morning when they opened. We were warmly greeted and hence assigned with Dave for our tasting. He's a retired gentleman that was very knowledgeable and super friendly. We were able to get a complimentary tasting thanks to staying at a local hotel. The wines were delicious and the impromptu cave tour was amazing. I highly recommend this winery. You can't go wrong. This place has some outstanding wine! My friend is a wine club member here and when we were out celebrating her engagement she took us here! The tasting was $40 for five tastings usually but because we came with a wine club member it was free! The bottles are all pretty pricy, around $80-150 per bottle but you get what you pay for... These wines were very special and I fell in love with their cabs! The only reason I did not give them five stars is because the staff could have been a little friendlier. I know your wine is good but it wouldn't hurt to be a little nicer to your customers. I wouldn't say they were rude but they defiantly were not friendly. More like, they didn't care if you were there or not... Great place to go if you really want to try some quality wine. We will be back! read more

We went there for a a friend 30th birthday celebration. We called a week before to make a reservation and to make sure they could accommodate a group of 14. They said yes, we even called 30 minutes before to make sure that everything was fine. It was the third winery of the day so everybody had a good buzz going on and was ready to have a good time there They did not have a table for us when we made it there. We had to get inside where all of us pretty much shared 5 feet of one of their wine tasting counter. We had to share tastings because there was no way we could fit a glass per person in there. We even had to take turn to taste the wine. The service was really inattentive. I should say nonexistent. Arent you supposed to describe the wine? Don't you have a sales pitch or something? We were not even obnoxious, everybody was calm and well behaved. We decided to leave after 20 minutes and nobody bought a bottle. They really killed the mood. Out of the 5 places we visited that day, its the only winery where we did not get at list 6 bottles, and the only one where we had to split tastings. That's a big revenue loss for not correctly accommodating a group that made a reservation..... If you have a big group, don't go there. I will probably not come back. read more

I arrived 10 minutes prior to close (4:30pm); however I was not shunned away. In fact, just the opposite. I was welcomed in, and very well attended to. They offered two tastings. $15 and $25. I opted for the $25 cabernet Sauvignon tasting and was not disappointed. Every tasting (4) was well worth the taste. The $15 tasting my friend had was not bad, but he wished he had selected the $25. So just spend the extra $10. We had great service, Eric was very knowledgeable, friendly and professional. I will keep Pine Ridge on my return list! read more

Stopped at Pine Ridge on the recommendation of another vintner. What a treat! Beautiful grounds and demonstration vineyard. Jose was very friendly, coming out to the patio repeatedly to pour and explaining how the soil has been perfect for growing Cabernet grades, and made sure our needs were met. Highlight of the winery was meeting Terry who educated us on the Napa geography and history, took us on the cool cave tour, and introduced us to some high end cabs that did not disappoint! Pine Ridge was my first and only stop on my short, solo trip through Napa. I had a really excellent experience here! David was gracious and attentive during the tasting. I really enjoyed chatting with him. He also left me a very lovely voicemail to tell me that the wine I had shipped home was on its way. Danika was so helpful and down-to-earth. When I was ready to leave, she called a few other vineyards for me to try to get me a last minute appointment before the end of the day. Pine Ridge is an ideal setting on the west side of the Silverado Trail. If you are headed south watch the sign so you don't miss the winery. It is tucked into the hillside for great reason- there is a wine cave. A most beautiful setting and the vineyard is that nearly ideal state of mind for Napa Valley wineries. This winery produces nicely styled Chardonnay and Cabernet Sauvignon as well as several Bordeaux blends--be sure to try their Andrus Reserve. read more

My bud's a member here, so last weekend on my first real trip through Napa, we were treated to a free tour and tasting. The place has a nice, unpretentious vibe. The wines were tasty and the cheeses/crackers at the end of the tour were super delish. (I was very uncouth: I gobbled them up in no time.) The hubby purchased a bottle here. I think he got the Rutherford Cab. My friend's fav is the Rutherford 2003--- I think she's hoarding it in her apartment. read more

Loved this winery! I've been to many, and don't usually do the tour anymore (you've done one, you've done them all, I used to think). In fact, that's what I told my friends when we recently went to Napa. But since we were in a group and they were excited for the tour, I decided not to be difficult and agreed to join. For $25 we were taken around by a crusty-yet-friendly and very funny Dutch guy (who called himself the Killer Bee). We were ushered into their caves, which were built right into the mountainside. They seem to stretch on forever, and are lined with cool-looking wine barrels. The tour concluded with a delicious wine & cheese tasting in a private room underground, surrounded by a library of wines. We were then invited back to the main tasting room for a full tasting. It was a fantastic deal, and the wine was excellent. read more

My husband and I loved our time at Pine Ridge! We made a cave tour appointment ahead of time and ended up having no one else sign up (Monday afternoon) so it was private. Danika was our wine educator/tour guide and she was fantastic. Best part about the winery! It was our first time in Napa and she went above and beyond to truly help us learn about wine overall as well as their specific wines. She was so fun and kept everything entertaining, as well as answered our numerous questions with ease. The wine, of course, was fantastic as well. I've always love Pine Ridge's "Crimson Creeek" Merlot. Finally get to visit the Winery and now a member. Hope the other blends are great and their service meets my expectation. My husband and I went on the pairing tour for our honeymoon. The reason we actually came is because my step-mother turned us onto their Viognier/Chenin Blanc blend at home. When we arrived, we were surprised to find they specialize in reds and actually think of this blend as the red-headed step-child of the family. The blend had one tiny little corner of the tasting room. The tour was a lot longer than I had expected. We started in the education vineyard where you were actually able to taste the different grape varietals. They taste very different from regular table grapes and you are pleasantly surprised how bitter they taste compared to the delicious wine they make. This was the only tour I went on where you actually got to try the different grapes which was really neat. Then we proceeded to the processing area, the caves (where we had our pairing tour), and then back to the tasting room. The depth of the tour definitely gave my review an extra star. If it weren't for the tour, this winery would receive 3 stars. There were a few downsides to the tour however. While our tour guide was really information, we were on a tour with some employees from Pine Ridge's sister winery in Oregon. This wouldn't be bad in and of itself (and probably got us a better tour from trying to impress them), but when it came to the wine club sell we had all three of them doing their best to sell us on the wine club. This wouldn't be bad normally as you expect that from any winery you go to, but they spent the better part of our pairing in the caves hearing all about wonderful they are. Not just from our tour guide, but from our tour mates. The second downside to the tour was after the caves when we were back in the tasting room. Our tour guide let us try some of the more expensive reds they had open (again, I don't know if this was part of the tour or because we were with the sister winery). I found that my palette didn't like most of these wines and I poured out most of the wine after trying (plus, these were around our 8th tasting). Usually, people don't mind when you do this. However, I felt our extremely nice and kind tour guide up to this point turned on me. She gave me dirty looks and asked what was wrong with the wine. One, it just wasn't what I liked, and two, I didn't feel the need to get drunk off of those last few wines. I felt like she was appalled just because I wasn't a fan of their most of expensive wines. I thought the point of wine tasting was supposed to be to find what you like? However, the wine up to this point was delicious and I loved our tour. We ended up buying a bottle of one of our favorite red wines and left feeling like we would probably go back especially if we went with people who didn't know a whole lot about wine because they would get a great tour. They are more expensive than I would have thought based off of the blend that we bought in the stores in Reno, but I don't think they sell many of their wines to wholesalers, so you are paying for what you get. Again, the tour was THE BEST that we went on our entire time in Napa for our honeymoon and the wine was pretty good too. read more

The guy that was pouring for us was this really cool older gentlemen that knew a lot about wine and was a happy funny fellow. My opinion is indifferent to PIne Ridge; I don't dislike it, but I can't say that I loved it either. read more

The tour was customized to accommodate our group and the dinner was seriously amazing. Definitely 5-star quality. Went here today with my husband in celebration of our 1 month of marriage. This was the first stop on our schedule as we both love the wines at Pine Ridge. We were serviced by Chris who was very knowledgeable not only about the wines he was pouring but about all the appellations of the Napa Valley. He was just bursting with info! We got to try SO many wines that were so good that not only did we walk out with several bottles as usual, this time we decided to join their wine club. We absolutely love their reds, especially the Stag's Leap cab and cab blends. It does cost $25 to try the big reds but it's SO worth it. They have these wine and food pairing events on Sundays that change themes every month, and I cannot wait to go back next month! read more

After trying the very m3h tastes that actually make up the majority of the tasting rooms in the valley, this place came through with the Cab tasting from heaven to save us from our plight. Yes! This is what wine is about - not just a oh hey, that tastes good, but a holy ray of light shooting down from the heavens and pimp slapping your senses. The Cab flight did cost $25, but if that's all it costs for enlightenment, then self-help/spirituality booksellers across the planet are in grave danger. read more

A new favorite vineyard. Jim was our guide and he is very educated in all aspects of wine making. If your new to Napa and want a full education this is the place to go. They have a beautiful cave room that would be great for events. Howell Mountain 14! WOW! Pair this with a pater. Another favorite was the Fortis. We got a complimentary tasting for free due to an event. Their cab is pretty good, the hog mountain one is my fav. They even gave us a sip of their most expensive production for free. One of my favorite winery!!! Can't say anything bad about this winery or their wine. My favorites are Oakville Cab, Fortis, and Andrus... I just had their Chardonnay, and it kicked ASS. Came home with 6 bottles and can't wait to drink them. They also have a fabulous Lobster Fest every Fall... It an event not to be missed... read more
