This place was such a lucky find for us! We needed to meet family halfway between Phoenix and Denver and stay somewhere for a couple nights. We love this place SO much and wish we were here for longer & will DEFINITELY be coming back! The cabin is super clean and cozy (#8), the mattresses are wonderful, fantastic views of the lake. The two staff members we encountered were so polite and welcoming. The pool was clean, perfect temp. We loved the amenities and the area overall. Friendly, accommodating, clean, well stocked, comfortable, great views and relaxing are just some of the highlights of this wonderful spot. After a NOT so pleasant experience in Pagosa we happened across this gem. Our original plan to stay two nights turned into three and we were so sad we couldn't stay longer. The studio cabin had a fully stocked kitchen, cute decor and wood burning fireplace. The outside was equipped with a outdoor table chairs fire pit and BBQ. The staff was so friendly and personable. If you're looking for an amazing place to get away I'd suggest giving this place a try. read more

We were getting a bit tired of camping and the weather was looking a little wet so we decided to call around and see about getting a cabin for the night. The gal answering the phone got us set up with a reasonably priced cabin for the evening and accommodated our Labrador retriever for an extra $15. Check in was a breeze and we were very pleased with our cabin. All of the appliances work, the sheets and towels were soft and of high quality, and the mattresses were very comfortable. The cabin was clean and stocked with everything we needed in terms of dishes, cutlery, and cooking utensils. The view from our porch was lovely looking out at the lake and the other guests were friendly. A small general store up the road sells homemade sausages along with other essentials. We will definitely be back and will recommend this lodge to our friends. read more

My family and I have been coming here for over 20 years. Every year. I would tell you that as far as this little piece heaven is concerned this place is it. All you need to do is bring food and clothing. Everybody else they got. Including a giant playground for the little ones. This place is a win year in and year out. Stay here and be happy. What can I say? Our stay at the Lodge was perfect! We stayed in cabin #10, a 2 bed/2bath cabin. It was literally spotless. Cleaner than any hotel room I have ever seen. Even the pine wood walls were free of dust! The gals that own and run the Lodge thought of everything for our comfort! Coffee maker, dish soap, all the dishes and cookware, hair dryers in the bathrooms. We don't have young kids anymore, but the playground here was crazy cool! Heated indoor pool too. Fireplace in the room and a portable firepit and a BBQ on the private deck. The cabins are not 5 star appointed with stainless steel appliances and granite tops.... but, we felt like we were at home! Love this place! Spent Christmas here with the family and all stayed in three cabins. Santa Jeff came in on Christmas eve and brought elf Donna. These folks are so awesome! Kiddos had fun sledding, swimming in the indoor pool, and playing in the game room. The views are simply breath taking! We will be coming back in the summer or fall for sure! read more

This place is as close to heaven on earth as one can get. Donna and Debbie make you feel like family, and the cabin location is perfect (far enough to get away but still reasonably close to Durango). The cabins were clean enough to perform ophthalmic surgery and very well appointed with plenty of cookware, towels, and sheets. The views were stupendous and I look forward to making these cabins a bi-annual holiday destination for years to come. read more

Not the fanciest place around but very clean. We like to stay in the cabins with a fireplace, so nice on a cold evening. They keep the cabins updated but still cabiny with knotty pine paneling. We've stayed there at least 4 times and will again. read more

We have stayed at Pine River Lodge about a half a dozen times. I can not say enough great words about the location, the friendliness of Donna and I believe Dawn as well as the cabins. Our most recent visit we stayed in the smallest cabin they had and it was super clean, charming and perfect. Vallecito lake is always beautiful but combine that with lodging at Pine River Lodge and you will have an amazing time. read more

We travel - a lot. I have never seen such incredible hospitality at any place I have ever stayed. The owners go above and beyond to ensure their guests are taken care of. These cabins have been in their family for years and years and they run their business with love. These are older cabins but were well equipped and clean. The views from cabin #3 are amazing. For a few dollars - firewood is available and a firepit is on cabin site. Very reasonable and secluded. My two young boys enjoyed "bear hunting" and feeding the squirrels. We just returned from a long weekend in Cabin 16. This cabin was just remodeled, and features beautiful beetle-kill pine paneling throughout. The craftsmanship is outstanding. The cabin was tiny, but fit the two of us and two dogs just fine. The kitchen was well-equipped, and everything was immaculate. The view of the lake, and the porch from which to enjoy it, was superb. We enjoyed the short stroll to the marina, watching the moon rise over the lake, and the extensive VHS collection in the main office. We don't typically travel to resort areas, but would gladly return. read more

Wifi available only in the office. Owner's son in law trash talked a politician I like. Come on guys, it's a vacation spot. We were there for a family reunion of thirty people. Our cabin was five minutes on a steep hill away from all the other cabins in our group. Cabins are of decent quality, and they do provide liquid hand soap for each bathroom sink and dish soap for the kitchen, but it bothered some of our group that there was no shower soap and when it was requested it was given, but with a bit of attitude. I just used the hand soap, and it never occurred to me to request separate soap, but when I heard about the staff response I found it hard to decide if it was my picky relative or the staff's poor attitude that seemed off. I decided it was both. read more

Enjoyed our stay very much the owners were super nice! We had cabin 22 with lots of little kids and it was so comfortable and homey. Lots of beds with the attic turned into a loft with its own bathroom and air conditioner. The pull down stairway was a bit narrow and creaky of course it was originally built for a attic but it worked. Lol.. the kids thought it was the coolest thing ever. Will definitely be back the owners didnt hover over you counting how many are in your group or making sure you're kids aren't destroying the house. Lol..yes we've stayed at cabins before where the owners literally hovered around watching everyone. Definitely a great place with families with kids. The playground is great also its got old-school playground equipment so watch the little ones closely some sharp edges and corners. There was no playroom/ arcade though it was converted into a gun store which my husband and brother in law where very excited over. Lol.. overall a fantastic experience will definitely be back! read more
