Stayed here in June of 2026. Second time staying here. The staff is so friendly! They are there for whatever you need. The rooms are great. They have a small kitchenette. Everything is very clean. The pool is wonderful. The breakfast area is so nice. So many tables. The breakfast is always delicious. Then on Wednesday nights they have a Happy Hour. The outside patio area is very nice to sit. Bottom Line: A no frills but comfortable place to stay while in Durango and a great staff. My husband and I stayed at the Homewood Suites in Durango for three nights. We booked a King Suite. We didn't plan to use the kitchenette but we appreciated having the extra space to spread out. The bed was comfortable and overall the room was clean. When we stayed there was not maid service other than trash pickup and a towel refresh. The hotel has a hot breakfast that starts at 6:30am. We appreciated the convenience of a quick bite to eat before heading out for our daily adventure. Overall breakfast was satisfying. We particularly liked the tortilla, egg, bacon and potato casserole dish. The hotel is located several miles from historic Durango where many of the town's popular restaurants and shops are located. We were fine with driving to historic Durango but there are some hotel options that are within walking distance of the historic district. As far as amenities, the hotel has a gym, indoor pool and hot tub and guest laundry. The laundry room was clean and had two "speed queen" washers and two dryers. The wash cycle was a speedy 23 minutes but the dry cycle was more like 50 minutes. I definitely appreciated being able to wash our hiking clothes before heading to our next destination. One thing that really impressed me about the hotel is that I left an item behind and they called me to let me know. I stay in a lot of hotels each year and although I don't leave stuff behind too often, I don't think many of them would take the initiative to call a guest about a lost item. A few minor nits - there was leftover drinks and food in our fridge from the previous guest that I thought house keeping should have cleared out. Also, the sodas in the vending machine are expired. One Diet Coke I got expired four months ago and the other Diet Coke I got expired six months ago. The irony is that the hotel is located next to the Coca-Cola distribution plant. read more

What nice place to end my stay in this area! I drove in from Pagosa Springs last week with my daughter & her boyfriend - they dropped me off so I be could be closer to the airport for my early morning flight. I felt like the welcome from the staff at the front desk was sincere, not because of my 'diamond status'. They smiled and made eye contact and asked if there was anything I needed before I went to my room. My room was exactly as I thought it should be. Everything was comfy and it was so spacious! The kitchen was amazing and the bed was so comfy. The bath has everything you need (see photos). I didn't even have to change the temperature. I only needed a room for one night, and since I didn't arrive until after 4pm and my flight left at 6am, it wasn't much of a visit but I wanted the space that this property offers. The staff at the front desk even gave me 2 business cards for taxis. I used my Hilton app for a Lyft though, and when I saw that I wasn't going to get one at 4am, I grabbed the cards and called. I got to the airport in time with no stress, thanks to the young lady (I wish I could remember her name). Hilton never disappoints. Thanks again for a great night! read more

As nice as the hotel appears and efficient the staff, the actual hotel is poorly constructed. We could hear the road traffic, people beside us, and above us. The floors were always shaking. This hotel is excellent. We met the owner as we were checking out and he asked us about our stay. He is obviously very involved in the day to day operations of his hotel. We stayed for 2 nights and everything was perfect. The hotel looks pretty new and very clean. Breakfast was very good but their Wednesday night "Social" was awesome. Wow, what pretentious poor reviews. Don't stay at a national chain unless you want consistent service. Such entitled views. Stay some where else if you want the "real experience". I find it nice to travel and have a comfortable and, hopefully, consistent place to stay the night or so. This is a great place with roomy rooms, clean shower, kitchen area, outdoor spaces to relax in plus pool and outdoor areas to relax and enjoy takeout dinner near downtown. To begin, we were picked up from the Durango airport by the hotel shuttle driven by a kind young man who conversed with us for almost the entirety of the 20-minute ride. When he dropped us off, he told us that the shuttle was available for use if we needed to get downtown or even to the train station. Keep in mind, the train station is just down the street. Loving this hotel already. This place is adorable and old timey but well kept with very sweet employees. We were offered warm cookies immediately upon check-in and given all the details about the essentials: wifi and breakfast. The room had two bottles of water per usual and a large bag of trail mix. Not the kind of grocery store trail mix with M&Ms but some really unique sweets and nuts. There's also a paper that details the events going on at the hotel and in the area and even has the weekly weather forecast. read more

It's a Homewood Suites, with large, homely rooms, having no sense of design, in a brown and beige color scheme, which is more depressing than a Bergman film. What tears this Homely Suites down a peg is its location ten minutes outside of town next to a CocaCola plant. The location has nothing and gives "ugly" a bad name. Durango has a lot to offer, and is an up and coming cool place to be. If you just want a bed for the night, in a clean room with a full kitchen, I guess the Homewood Suites would be okay. But don't you want to have a full and happy life? Then why choose such a plain and pedestrian hotel. Live a little. Enjoy Durango and enrich yourself with something more than serviceable accommodation. read more

Very Nice! An enjoyable stay! Reviewed June 29, 2018 We really enjoyed the hotel. Excellent facility! It is out a little way from down town, but we preferred that. The room had a full kitchen and an apartment sized refrigerator. What we really liked was the happy hour provided by the hotel. We really didn't want to go back out for dinner. So we stayed in an enjoyed their offerings. Apparently it varies, by each evening. They had a good offering of salad, cheese, a soup of the day, chips and even milk and cereal if you wanted it. The best part was the wine and two locally brewed beers. The breakfast bar was equally great! A full hot and cold breakfast is offered each morning. This review is being written after quite a bit of time and a lot of thought. I do not give five star nor one star reviews easily or without much thought. Our stay was Oct 6-9, 2017. Although I could almost write a book on this, I will try to only make this moderately long. Tip: the rooms are not what I consider traditional Homewood, with a bath available separately to both guests on the couch and hosts in the bedroom. Although I may not go into that more, that was part of the overall issue. The staff is effusively friendly. That's good, but the friendliness layer is VERY thin. If you cross one of their boundaries, you are no longer a good client - it really is about them, not you. When asking a simple question about non-gluten breakfast items for a gluten-sensitive spouse, the answer was "this is a free breakfast, not a restaurant!" --- and at this point, of course the hotel staff said that was inappropriate to say. Then, the big issue - our guests had arrived first, and when requested, provided a debit card for incidentals. Our card, of course, was primary, and in their file. Yep - our guests were charged for the stay, and had their checking account emptied, with bounced checks as well. When talking with Jamie (front desk) and Kurt Berridge (general manager) over almost SIX WEEKS, they were always friendly, but also petulant. Eventually, they stopped returning phone calls. To their credit, our guests were finally made whole, and bounced check charges were refunded (which is why I almost didn't do a one star review). Still, their lack of response without constant prompting, promises not kept, being ignored, and having to contact Hilton corporate to get this finally resolved made me realize that they just ultimately didn't care, and both Jamie and Kurt Berridge would say whatever they felt might get us "off their backs" - as I'm sure they considered me the problem vs. their lack of actually resolving the issue. So - sure - stay here - you may have a great stay. I hope nothing goes wrong. But realize the friendliness of the staff, from top (Kurt Berridge) to bottom is very surface layer only. Don't get past it, to your peril. read more

We had a one room suite and it was wonderful. The bed and pillows were great. The kitchen and living space was just perfect. It was very clean. The only odd thing was a leather sofa that was scratched or worn. I am not sure the very worn sofa was from a pet or average use, but it should have been replaced. We will stay again. read more

Fantastic hotel on the edge of town. Wonderful, helpful staff make this hotel feel like a large home. The free breakfasts and meals are great, with a good range of foods to choose from. The rooms are well appointed and clean. We stayed in a one bedroom suite, with our kids sleeping on the fold out queen bed in the "living room", and we never felt cramped for space. A well appointed, if small, kitchen was great for the few times we felt like a home cooked meal. read more

The hotel is great. Rooms are really nice. The pool area is great also. Even breakfast was great. I one stared the hotel because of the service. We needed to stay late because we had family in the hospital. We requested as late a check out as possible. We were initially told a 1:00pm late checkout was ok. So we made plans around that. At 10:00am I received a call from the front desk that the Housekeeping department was not authorizing any late checkouts and I had to be out by noon. Total lack of flexibility. For the record: The front desk guy was great, it was the lack of flexibility from the hotel that was frustrating. read more

First time visiting Durango & so pleased with our stay here! Our room was SO clean. I even did the old trick where you shine around with a black light & nothing! Not one dirty spot. Our room had a full kitchen. A bonus for me was the full body mirrors in the room. Maybe to some they don't care but I like seeing my entire outfit, especially when traveling & taking pictures! We stayed here for 4 nights during a Durango vacation. There were many good things: great location with easy access to downtown and other local attractions (Ska Brewing is just up the street and amazing); it's very well maintained and was very clean and the rooms are nice and spacious (we stayed in a King studio). We also did have one good experience with the staff in that when we flew in early, we stopped in on the off chance that we could check in early (it was about 11:00 AM, and check-in isn't until 4:00 PM). The staff informed us that, while the room wasn't ready yet, they would let us know via the Hilton app as soon as it was. It ended up being ready about 12:30 PM, which was much appreciated as we were exhausted from traveling. However, most other experiences we had with the staff were unfortunately pretty negative. Though we very much appreciated the ability to check in early, when we asked if we could leave our bags while we went to lunch prior to our room being ready, Kurt, the general manager, replied "not too many bags I hope." We were allowed to do it, albeit reluctantly, so we just shook that off, but sadly, the poor customer service continued. In my experience, most Hilton chain hotels are more than willing to accommodate a late check-out when possible, especially when they are given advanced notice. I called about a week before our trip and spoke to Kurt, the general manager, to request a late check-out, as our flight wasn't until the late afternoon and we hoped to make the most of our last day in Durango. He told me, rather rudely, that they would not consider any late check-out requests until the morning of. My question: what is the point of getting a late check-out if you don't know about it until that day? Most people I know ask for late check outs so they can make advanced plans, so this practice seems pointless and a pretty poor display of customer service. Additionally, on the morning of our departure, my partner went to the front desk to again inquire about a late check out, as instructed. The woman at the desk said "The best we can do is 12:00." Which is the normal check out time anyway, so we did not appreciate the fact that she seemed to be hiding her poor customer service by acting like she was doing us a favor when she was not. We wish they could have simply said "I'm sorry, we unfortunately can't accommodate a late checkout," and it would have been much more helpful to know that prior to the morning of our departure. Finally, when we did check out, we asked if we could store our bags at the front desk before our departure. ONCE AGAIN, the woman at the desk looked at us like we were crazy before seemingly reluctantly allowing us to do so. 1) I don't believe that storing bags before or after check-in/out is AT ALL an uncommon practice and 2) I also don't believe it's a huge inconvenience for the staff, but we were treated like it was. So, overall: good hotel in a good location, but do not expect the staff to do anything other than the bare minimum for you, if even that. One additional thing to note: at the time of this posting, the hotel is outside the radius of delivery services like Uber Eats. This is no reflection on the hotel, just hopefully helpful information that we discovered on our first night staying in after a long travel day. read more

This hotel was clean, spacious, had free breakfast, snacks in the evening with free happy hour drinks, a work out room, pool & hot tub. The room does have a door that closes off from the living room/kitchen area. There are tvs in both the living room and the bedroom. It is on the edge of town, but the drive into town is not too far--probably 1/2 mile to downtown Durango. The staff were very friendly. Overall, a great place to stay. read more

Love, love, love this hotel! We stayed a week for a family vacation and can't wait to return. We love Durango for a variety of reasons, and will ALWAYS return to this hotel. Not sure where to begin expressing what we liked so much about the hotel. It might be easiest to itemize: 1. The hotel was uber clean and well built. Not until after our stay did I realize the hotel has been open for at least 4 years. It seemed like a newer hotel based on the cleanliness. The carpets were spotless - not sure how often they shampoo them, but they were being shampooed during our stay and it didn't even look like they needed to be cleaned. It was also the best built hotel I've ever stayed in. The rooms seemed soundproof - only time I ever heard another guest was in the hallway. We stayed in room 302 which overlooked the highway heading to Pagosa Springs. I was hesitant to stay in a room close to a busy road as I am very sensitive to noise. However, road noise was a non-issue. There are a few rooms which look into the Coca Cola loading docks, so if you want a "view" check w/the front desk. 2. Excellent, friendly staff. I want to give a shout-out to Jamie who went the extra mile to be sure we had a room in which we would be happy. Every staff member we encountered - from front desk to servers at breakfast and happy hour to housekeeping to maintenance to the guy shampooing the cart - had a ready smile, asked about our stay, and readily answered any questions we had. A couple of times we asked for extra towels - they were delivered to our room so quickly it seemed they must have been outside our door just waiting for us to ask. 3. Breakfast and happy hour. Breakfast varied by day and was excellent for a "free" breakfast. Evening social, M-Th, offered a lovely snack/light meal and included beer and wine. The food varied from a salad and cheese one night to BBQ pulled pork/chicken another night. Always tasty. 4. Comfortable. We stayed in a one bedroom suite - myself, my husband, 19yo daughter, and 16yo soon. The room was large enough that we never felt cramped. King bed in the bedroom was very comfortable. The sofa's pull out queen bed was also reasonably comfortable. 5. Kitchen. Since we were staying for a week, we wanted a functioning kitchen. This one was perfect. Well stocked with pots/pans, utensils, and dishware. A little tea/coffee caddy located in the cabinet even included packets of salt and pepper. 6. Fitness facility. The fitness area exceeded my expectations. Spacious. Elliptical and treadmills for cardio with individual TV screens (headsets available at the front desk). Free weights. Exercise balls. Floor mats. TV mounted on the wall. Large fan just in case the a/c set at 68 F wasn't cool enough. 7. Location. The location was perfect for us. Just a couple of miles from historic downtown. Our room had a view of one of Durango's lovely mountainsides. As mentioned previously, some rooms do look into the Coca Cola loading docks, so this may be something to consider. 8. Decor. The decor was tasteful with attention to details missing from comparable hotels. 9. Other - Courtyard with BBQ grills and tables/chairs located between the breakfast/social dining areas and the indoor pool. Laundry facilities for guests. Basketball court. WiFi worked great (I noticed some reviews from 2015 commented on poor WiFi - they must have gotten that issue resolved as 3 of us were frequently using the WiFi and had no issues). read more

I have been here for a week in order to stay away from my family while I am off from my job as a critical care nurse. I am simply taking precautions and staying away from my immunosuppressed daughter. I am staying at this hotel for a week, and the staff are so, so nice and so accommodating. The rooms are beautiful, with every amenity provided. It is quiet, the beds are comfortable, and it is very, very clean. I would highly recommend this hotel. read more

We stayed here in October and then returned to this hotel for a December trip because we truly enjoyed our stay. Check in is a breeze, rooms are super clean/spacious, staff is friendly (even chat with you in the hall or elevator), breakfast included (eggs, bagels, scones, cereal, yogurt, juice), and it still has that nice/new feel. Beds aren't the most comfortable in the world but that's me just being nit-picky. We will definitely stay here for future trips to Durango. read more

Every time I am in Durango I always stay at the Doubletree but since the Doubletree was booked I thought I would try out the Homewood Suites and just like any Hilton Hotel the staff was friendly and the rooms were clean. You can tell this is a newer hotel as everything looked new and the carpet throughout the hotel was clean. The room was decently sized and the bed was comfortable. I enjoyed the fact they actually used king sized pillows. Overall the Homewood Suites is decently priced and definitely worth checking out. They also offer free breakfast and dinner as well as a courtesy shuttle. Only bad thing about this place is the Wifi never worked which was sort of a pain. read more

Homewood Suites are my family's first choice in hotels anywhere we go we check to see if one is available in the area. That said this one did not disappoint. Clean, friendly staff, especially "Nate" Only down side was that we tried to check in early like 11 am because it was raining and we had had a long drive in with a child.. But were told by a female staff member that they were not allowed to let us check in early. Even though another staff member told her that the room reserved for us was empty and ready. This was the first time that we have EVER run across this anywhere. Usually if the room is ready they are more than happy to let you sign in early. Was a bit disappointed in this especially since we were staying 4 days there. Not quite sure what harm it would have been to let us check in early. Still love Homewood!!! read more

First trip to Durango area. Had no point of reference on lodging save the online reviews. Decided on Homewood due to amenities and recently opened. We were not disappointed! Good location (2.6 miles to center of town, and let's face it... The 2 hotels in town are Victorian and not as modern and comfortable for families as this place!) and great amenities. The staff could not be nicer and very welcoming. Great place to stay and enjoy Durango. We usually stay in Starwood but I must say that this is a reason for Hilton chain to be proud. My wife, 18 month old daughter, and in-laws stayed here while I was hunting up in the mountains for 4 days. Every night when I called, all my wife could say was how great the entire staff was!
