While the food is good, the prices are deceptive. They are conducting shady business practices. 1) As I was going to pay with a $100 bill. There was no sign that they do not take large bills....I double checked. They didn't want to take it because the bill was "old". It was not a "newer series" according to the cashier. They wanted me to use my card which would then remove the cash discount that the establishment offers. They did verify that the bill was valid with the pens/markers. Once I stated that there is no sign about high bills, nor bills that are old; that they couldn't really enforce it or obligate me to use my credit card. 2) They prices on the display do not reflect what you are being charged. (Receipt enclosed). When I asked why the prices differentiated they said it was taxes. So my question is, then why are taxes also appearing on the bottom of the receipt? Am I paying double tax? Overall, it would have been a couple of dollars difference between the credit card and taxes but it's the lack of transparency and dishonesty. These reviews are ridiculous. This place was amazing. Sure, it takes the idea of a Cuban mom 'n' pop and turns it into a chain with a fancy website, but it sure had a mom 'n' pop feel inside. I had a nice Hispanic woman call me papa, felt like home. This particular shop is open 24/7, so it's place of refuge for night nurses and CNA's, I'm sure. They are lucky. I ordered a good sampling of their menu. I got a few pastelitos, I can't remember exactly what, but I think the guava cheese, the coconut, and the chorizo. Crispy, delicious, full of filling and flavor. I had a fried ham cheese Empanada. Also crispy and delicious. A real winner. And then I took it up a notch and got the Camagueyana, which is an empanada with a huge elephant ear baked into it. Very fun! Not too oily, a solid little thing. Two words: Shit show. The to-go station is always a hot mess. They can't seem to ever get it together. They will have the food ready and bagged for a long time just waiting on beverages. I watched my food sit for 15 minutes as I waited for the missing coffee. They were aware the coffee was missing and told me it'd be right out and it wasn't made until I reminded them. Usually in the morning it is very full you take a number and wait to be called and have to pay attention since some times people walk in and try to order. They kept bringing out fresh pastelitos since it was early. I ordered guava and cheese pastelitos and ham croquetas. Along with a warm bread. The workers are usually friendly enough. Everything I ate was so good and fresh yesterday I was overjoyed to be having pinecrest for breakfast! I preset the time for pick up and prepaid $67. Went three hours before my flight to this location, and NOTHING was ready. Not only were the boxes not prepared, they didn't have most of what my good friend had specifically requested!! This was a gift for my friend! I actually planned it out! I am from out of town (Las Vegas) and my dad and I stopped by Pinecrest Bakery hoping for a quick coffee. The place was absolutely packed with people. We grabbed our ticket number and were promptly called to order. The service was super quick and responsive. Their system allows for a lot of people with a short waiting time where you won't lose your spot in "line" even if you sit down and wait at a table. Everything looked delicious so my dad and I ordered a few snacks before our trip to the Keys. We were so happy with the empanadas that we grabbed extra ones for the road along with their croquettes. The food was really yummy and we were beyond happy with the service. I could be biased, but compared to Vegas prices, my dad and I spent $25 for the both of us to eat here which was super reasonable for what we got, and we spent $25 more for our lunch that we took with us. Had an upsetting experience last weekend with the bakery. I have been having some issues moving around because I have a problem with the heel of my foot...so I am trying to stay off my feet as much as possible. My brother in order to help ordered some food from the bakery like he has been doing for months. He ordered two breakfast meals which included scrambled eggs and ham, cafe con leche, Cuban toast. We also asked for five croquettes and one order of bacon on the side. This meal was for three people... The delivery person arrived with only one breakfast meal, two orders of bacon, and six croquettes. So they were completely wrong with the order. When we told the delivery person it was wrong, she said well there is nothing I can do about it because this is the last delivery of the day as I am going off. So pretty much the fact they got the order wrong did not matter to them. I had to split this paltry breakfast in between us....and had to make some food at home just to make this big enough for all of us to eat. This is not the first time they have gotten an order wrong actually this is the third...this was just the worst time because I could not go out because of my foot to get food somewhere else, I was in pain, and they did nothing to make it right. What makes it worse was the fact the breakfast was terrible. The eggs and ham had no taste, the bacon was overcooked/burnt...the only thing that tasted good was the croquettes, cafe con leche and toast. My mother went on Facebook and sent a message to the bakery complaining about the order. They answered asking for particulars on the error and when it happened. My mother told the bakery the particulars. "Hours after we were thanked for the elaborate feedback and we were told it is my understanding you spoke with someone today and everything was taken care of, thanks" When our family got upset with that response we told the person on the bakery's Facebook page that because of that answer we would not return. The response... "sorry to hear that thanks". Really?! Everything was taken care of?! No, nothing was taken care of. Where did they get that idea? What employee told them that? And then of course it even looks like they never even care that we were upset. A bakery should value their customers especially their repeat customers. Never....ever coming back. read more

First time trying Colada here - delicious! It definitely woke me up. My husband loved the Oreo cheesecake, he went back another day for it again! I tried the chocolate rum cake - it was fine. The guava cake was meh, the top piece of cake was a little dry. Also tried their chocolate layered cake (not sure exactly what it was called) and it was pretty good. I do not know if there is a service issue at this store, maybe it's staffing, the workload is tremendous but today I Order the two sandwiches that I have order in the past. The order for two sandwiches, two pjs and a coffee and as around $30. I'm not compliance ni g about the price but the quality and services rendered. My order was completely screwed up. I asked for a turkey sandwich with lettuce and tomato and toasted. Sandwich came out not toasted, no lettuce, no tomato! My coffee "undrinkable" too much sugar another loss. On top of all they gave me part of the order and dismissed me without the remaining order! I had to step up and request the remaining order since they where arguing that that was all. I showed my ticket and visibly there where several items missing! To top It all! There is no COVID GUIDELINES there where today 12/22/2020 around 1:45pm more than 25 people ordering in a space that is less than 900 Sft. I hope you make the much needed changes to. The eggs were extremely overdone the bacon was fried so much all you can taste is the grease. The pan de bono was horrible. Oye acere.... Prepárate de hablar español (hi friend... Prepare to speak Spanish)! I would have given it 3.5 stars but I can't give half stars so I rounded up my review. I prefer my Cuban bakeries in Miami, but now that I'm residing in homestead Pinecrest Bakery is as good as it gets in Homestead. If you are familiar with the Cuban culture then you know they LOVE to talk, take their time and their pastries are AMAZINGLY DELICIOSO! Pinecrest Bakery has the slowest service EVER! Make sure to grab a number and have your ears open and find an open spot in the small bakery to stand post until your number is called. They had four ladies working but it took 15 minutes for us to order. We ordered ham croquetas, 2 pastelitos de queso (cheese pastries), a tequeño de guava y queso (cheese and guava roll) and freshly squeezed orange juice. Everything was good. I have had better pastelitos de queso but these were different. They didn't taste fresh and the type of puff pastery crust they make has a different taste then the pastelitos from good Miami bakeries but, nonetheless it was okay. Prices were comparable to other bakeries and what I like is they offer a great variety of party trays and cakes for parties at economical prices. Next time I'll be trying some of their breakfast items. They offered great breakfast options at great prices. eggs, Cuban toast, sausage or bacon with a coffee for $4.50. The Bakery was super clean and rocked a chandelier cool enough to be in a spiffy celeb house! Overall, it was a good experience and I think I found myself my neighborhood Cuban Panadería!!
