An unexpected road-trip detour this morning, but definitely a worthwhile one. We had to make an unscheduled side trip to Pinegar Honda in Springfield, Missouri, for B1 service on our Honda Odyssey. It added about an hour of drive time to our trip, plus another hour and 15 minutes for the service itself, but we prefer to do it by the book, and thankfully our Honda service plan covered everything. To make our 8:30 AM appointment, we had to get up at 5:30 local time in Rolla and get on the road early. Much of the drive to Springfield was through nearly two hours of rain, so it was a long and very early start to the day. The good news? The dealership was excellent, the service area was clean and well organized, and everything was handled smoothly. A fun surprise in the waiting area was an on-site donut case featuring St. George's Donuts, a true Springfield institution. Katy St. George first learned to make donuts in her father's shop in California, and in 1971 she and her husband Charles sold their business there and moved back to her hometown of Springfield, where they opened the first St. George's Donuts at Grand and Glenstone. It was a neat local touch to enjoy a bit of Springfield history while waiting for the service to be completed. After a 5:30 wake-up call and a rainy drive, that was a very welcome bonus. I wasn't really sure what to rate this place. When we arrived, there were other people parked near the vehicles for sale and we did the same. They were looking at minivans and so were we. We got out and looked at several minivans while another couple was also looking at them. We arrived about 55 minutes before they closed and no one came to greet us or the other couple. At least two salesman walked near our area and didn't say a word to us. One other guy literally had to park a van that had just been test driven back next to the vans we were standing near, and he walked away without saying a word to us. We kept looking and sitting in the vehicles we were interested in. I definitely wanted to take a test drive, but the salesmen couldn't be bothered to assist us. I will certainly not be chasing people down to give them my money, so back to Toyota we go, or maybe another Honda dealership. I've new car's from both pinegar dealerships. But I won't do it again most of the people I dealt with where fantastic. Up tell the new car manager Brittany got involved. The way she said it had to be wrote up. It didn't have to be done the way she did it. Her way coat me about $150.00 more a month but I found out later the insurance went up $300.00 a month. i guess writing a review gets you a letter banning you for any pinegar dealership. When the battery is disconnected, a code must be input or the sound system will not work at all. Every time I go here they try to run me out asap barley speak to me about problems and maintenance. They have charged -ASTRONOMICAL- prices on very easy diy projects and parts. I've gone once and was told I would need to do XYZ maintenance on my vehicle in a ball park of $800 turned the work down for next time due to being in a pinch for time just wanted an oil change and then upon returning my vehicle at a later date ... No mention of all that service work needing done? I've been left standing in the service area for more than 30mins before being helped, and their waiting area is cramped. read more

Reliable Honda is NOT a place you should ever visit! I purchased a 2016 Honda Accord in October of last year. Let's talk about the MAJOR problems I had first. The first one: windshield wiper setting of Auto that still did not work. A Heat/Air setting of Auto that still did not work. I returned to the service department several times with concerns about these problems. First I was told there was no problem, second I was told then that the AUTO settings did not work in this model of Honda. I persisted. Service department decided there might be a problem, and ordered parts?? At this point the car started dying when I tried to accelerate. I took the car to my local car repair place and was told that the spark plugs were not only old and worn out, but not honda plugs. So much for checking out the car before selling!! I then talked to the Manager multiple times and was eventually offered to have the car evaluated at the service department. Reliable kept the car for two days and said everything was repaired. Both the wiper and AC/Heat still did not work on the auto settings. The spark plugs did get replaced. Today I noticed that the front bumper had been damaged. The bumper had part of the grill replaced and part of it was held together by a ZIP TIE. So not only did the salesman lie, but everyone else also did. read more

Brought my Honda Civic in to Pinegar Honda in Springfield Missouri. My dash kept saying "Tire pressure low." They found I had picked up a screw and they told me it was not repairable and I would need a new tire. Close to $100. They didn't have it in stock but would the next day. On my way home I stopped at a reputable tire shop to see if they had a better price. They did but the technician asked me if I was sure I wanted to replace it because it was totally repairable. Say what!? So I let them repair it. I left having paid $15. That was 4 months ago and all is well. I am not going to be using Pinegar Honda again. They have broken my trust. May 3rd 2024 Gave Pinegar Honda one more chance. Took my car in to the dealership for an oil change and brake fluid flush. They told me I needed new wiper blades (I had just replaced them 5 weeks ago). They said I needed a new battery and my rear 3rd brake light was out. I wanted to get another mechanic to look at it before I committed to the work. Nothing wrong with the battery or the rear 3rd brake light or the wipers. Next I confirmed that I was to get a 20% discount on the brake fluid flush per the coupon/advertisement I showed him. He said absolutely. Then they only gave me 10% discount. They said only some routine maintenance gets 20% all others get 10%. It didn't say that on the ad they gave me. I am officially done with Pinegar Honda and their deceitfulness. I really wanted to keep my car serviced at HONDA but the dishonesty at this dealership is RAMPANT. They MUST train their employees to do this. I will never return. Next year I plan on trading in my car for a new one (cash sale like this one was) and I DEFINITELY won't be going to Honda. Today me and my fiance went to Honda because we've been shopping for a car for awhile. We're a BMW family, but I wanted to see the safer side of cars, so we chose to look at Hondas for me. My dad always told me lie to the salesman you're talking to about your budget. Example, my budget is 35k, instead I told this lady it was 20k. I was looking at the used cars because I was curious about their pricing on used civics vs accords (I'm a sucker for great gas mileage) and this blonde, short haired older lady walks over to us and greets us. I said my budget was 20k, and I was okay with used but didn't want to go over too much over 20-25k. Her happy demeanor turned short and rude. With my father's advice I was able to see which dealership to give my money to. It gets worse I said 20k seems adequate because with some car brands you can get a 2018-19 for that. She cut me off and said, "No you can't...well not a Honda..." I looked at my fiance and he was about to bust out laughing because she was so rude and knew I would walk off lot. She pointed me to the cheapest cars on the lot and then said "Would you excuse me they just called me on the intercom"....walks away from us. My fiance tried to convince me to stay to look at the Pilots they had. I had enough and started walking towards his car. She saw us leaving, did nothing to stop us and instead started talking to another couple in a car leaving. I've had a lot of experiences on car lots with terrible sales people but she had to be the worst. This is the second and last time I have given Don Wessel Honda a 1 star rating. I will never buy another Honda from Don Wessel or any other Honda dealership again. My daughter just bought a certified pre-owned vehicle from Honda three months ago and purchased the full extended warranty. In only three months the heater core began to malfunction and hot air would not blow out the drivers vent. Honda had a service bulletin that came out number 14-063 which described the problem that had to do with the heater core. "Low heat from drivers side vent". Under "Warranty Claim Information" it clearly states in the service bulletin "Normal Warranty Applies". What that means is after three years or 36,000 miles they will not touch it, and if you bought the extended warranty it means nothing and you will have to pay over $500 dollars to fix the same problem they would have fixed for free under the new car warranty. We were told by Wes in the service department that our full coverage extended warranty does not cover that service bulletin because it was not the "Honda Warranty" and that it is a third-party warranty and not a Honda warranty. Not one word spoken buy the sales person in the finance and extended warranty department that this warranty is not a Honda warranty and will not cover Honda Warranty only items (I'm sure it was in the fine print). So if you are wealthy and can afford to buy a new vehicle every three years they will cover it for you, but if you are a second year school teacher (my daughter) and buy a certified preowned vehicle from them and buy the extended warranty they will not cover it for you but will be willing to charge you another $500 dollars to fix it. Our family has bought over 10 Hondas from Don Wessel Honda. Don Wessel claims "Legendary Service". It was back in the day Don Wessel was alive. Men like him and Jerry Fenton (1999) were always making sure customers like us taken care of. No games no gimmicks. Excellent treatment, always. I couldn't find an Odyssey to test drive in 2000, they had one and let me drive it even though they knew I was going back to North Carolina to buy one. I've just brought home a new Civic Hybrid after driving several of their cars until I found the one I wanted. And while test driving, did I have a high-pressure salesman breathing down my neck and yakking it up? Noooo! Did the salesman insinuate that I needed a MAN there to buy me a car? Nooooo! I've also (unfortunately) had to use their body shop facility, no complaints other than the time it takes to do a great job. Back here in wreck-land the folks are friendly and enjoy people. (just a little wacky, look out for plastic spiders in the potted plants!) In the service department, the oil-change is quick and a great value, just be sure to call first and see if there's a lot of folks wanting the same. Service department people are professional and prompt. No passing the buck or getting messed with here. If there is a problem, they own up and get it taken care of right away! They do also call you after and make sure everything was okay! Never, never any dirt or smudges in your car after they've been in there working. Horrible horrible dealership to work with been waiting 2 months for a warranty refund that Paul and Zach kept failing on getting to me. Finally received my check for the warranty yesterday after numerous phone calls and dealings with these idiots. When I picked up my check which took my full lunch hour because joe who had a 24 hour notice I would be there hadn't cut it yet. When I saw the check I asked if it included my gap coverage cancellation and joe proceeded to ask me if I paid off the car or why I cancelled my stuff. This doesn't matter where is my money. We were on a cross-country road trip from NYC to SFO in the summer of 2012 when we encountered what turned out to be some tire problems. We called in from Columbus, OH, knowing we'd be in Springfield with time for a fix, and we got great advice just over the phone. He spoke to me like I was a child and used a variety of different "techniques" that were so blatantly lies. He told me a guy called just after me and asked to buy my car on the spot, but he said no because I wanted to look at it. Then he proceeded to call the guy on speaker in front of me (went to voicemail) and tell him sorry but I was getting the car in a very weird and not genuine manner. In January of 2014 I received my car from having it shipped from Hawaii. Before leaving Hawaii, I had a check engine light come on and was forced to get it checked prior to shipping. It was a O2 sensor. So when I picked it up in January from the shipper, I called Don Wessell Honda in Springfield, MO o make an appointment. The man in the service department who answered told me that I didn't know what I was talking about and that he was going to have to "diagnose" it himself and he would have to charge me $80. After having to put up with their sexist rude men in the service department, I had to return because of the air bag recall. when the news came out I went to the Honda website and put in my VIN. It stated that my vehicle was one of the recalled. So when I called, Oct 20, 2014, I was greeted with the biggest chauvinist I have ever met. I was told that there was absolutely NO way to tell if my vehicle was one the ones that was recalled. After I explained about the Honda website and the VIN, he told me I was stupid and I didn't know what I was talking about. So Thursday, October 23, 2014, I made an appointment through the website. Now mind you, I registered with my vehicle's VIN. I made an appointment on Tuesday, October 28, 2014 at 1300. Now I live in Waynesville, 90 miles to the east of Springfield. I had to put in for the afternoon off. So when I get to Don Wessel Honda, I get treated like I am stupid because I am a woman. Steven, proceeds to check me in and then tell me, Oh but we have to order the parts by the VIN and we didn't have your VIN. I then explained to him that I am registered with the website with my VIN. He says that he then has to "check" to see if the part was ordered. I was then taken to the mall. About a half hour later, I receive a call, telling me that the parts are "back-ordered". I tell him I want to speak to a manager. The manager comes on the phone and becomes rude and defends his incompetent service department. I told him that I did not appreciate my time being wasted. He proceeds to tell me , "oh its not a waste, we can still change your oil." The only reason I scheduled an oil change and tire rotation was because I have no other choice but to bring my car in for the recall. and I could have had the oil change done for cheaper and without wasting 4 hours of my time and a half a tank of gas. Arron was not high pressured at all! I loved that about him. We went there first and then test drove at Toyota and Acura. One of the factors in deciding on the Civic was the fact that Arron answered our questions but was not pushy. We offered a price and it was accepted. It wasn't a long drawn out and excruciating experience like I have had before with other dealers. When we had a problem with the vehicle over the weekend and called on Monday, Arron assured me it would be taken care of. When I went in on Tuesday, everyone from Shelly in service, the tech that checked me in ( sorry I forgot his name), Michelle at the front desk and even Matt ( the new marketing guy) were all friendly , helpful and had a great attitude.
