I particularly enjoy the sensitive touch of humanity, attention and details put into gardens by their staff over the years. A couple of workers I discussed with there seem to both know and like what they do. -1 star for the location's proximity to the highway, which unfortunately causes constant noise pollution when venturing past the entrance area.

Some wonderful views of a Shorttailed Hawks nest, with fledglings. An Eagles Nest on a nearly cell tower. Warblers, Sapsuckers, Woodpeckers, Tits, Flycatchers and so many other birds. It was a good time. I did not take my real camera... so did not get any shots of the birds, but got lots of memories! Met some really nice people, too! Saw some of the usual Florida critters too, Alligator, Softshell Turtles, Squirrels, etc. And PEACOCKS! Lots and lots of screaming peacocks! Beautiful, but so loud, lol! Even some nice flowers, and tons of lovely trees, vines, ferns, etc!

Beautiful beach that has tons of shells…read more This beach is emptier than others because you have to take a ferry to get to it and you have a four hour limit. We aren't major beach people, but I got really interested recently in finding shells. We were at Clearwater Beach and didn't see a lot of shells so I did research into where we could find an abundance of shells and this was one of the beaches that popped up. They have so many shells, but all the shells are very similar. They are the clamshell looking type. So if you're looking for a variety of shells, I would suggest going elsewhere. However, I was super excited to find all of these shells. We ended up getting buckets full of them. You pay eight dollars to get into honeymoon State Park. Then you follow the signs to the parking lot where it is $20 per adult and $12 per child, five and under are free, for the ferry ride. The ferry ride is a boat that is actually quite fun for the children. It's about 10 minutes and in the morning, you can see dolphins and the ferry will stop to look at them. They can fit about 45 to 50 people on each boat, and they do fill up. The first boat is at 10 AM and leaves every half hour after that. You can rent two beach chairs and an umbrella for $35 and they have food and drinks that you can buy on the island. Since you can't bring carts most people travel light so we didn't bring shade or seats. Being that our whole goal was to find shells we weren't sitting much anyways. It is pretty empty. This is not a packed beach at all and we were there on a Saturday in the summer so prime beach season. The sand is white and fine and the water is beautiful. If you're looking for a beach that isn't that crowded I would highly recommend coming here.

Absolutely loved this island!…read more I have an annual pass for state parks so I didn't have to get into honeymoon island itself. A short drive to the paying booth for taking the ferry from honeymoon to caladesi. It is $20 dollars but they do take military discount too! The two guys on the boat are very funny guys. The captain loves to tell dad jokes and the other tells you fun facts about the islands. It's a short ride to caladesi. Once we arrived there was lots to explore however my friend and I just had a beach day. There is construction going on due to the past hurricanes but there is bathrooms, a cafe, and plenty of shade and trails! I can't wait to go back and explore more. The ferry takes off from honeymoon every hour and from caladesi every half hour. Highly recommend a day trip here!! Water is so nice.

Revisiting this park after a few years, while in the area again. Sad to see the many tree stumps,…read moreremnants of trees that didn't survive the hurricane a couple years ago. For that reason there's less shade in the park, but otherwise it is well maintained and restored as much as possible. There is the historic spring, that was once a paid attraction in the area, but now the park is totally free. Usually there is an abundance of fishes near the circular spring. We enjoy walking along the trail. There's an observation tower that gives a nice view of the area, plus seveal decks to admire the Gulf. To the right side of the entrance there's a other trail, longer and more for bicycles, that takes you along the paved road to another observation deck. As walker I prefer the other trail, more natural, better shades, and less hot than walking on asphalt. There is a butterfly garden, and a little free library as well, near the parking lot.

The beach stretches out nicely so even when it is busy you can still find your own space. The sand is soft, the water is calm, and it is perfect for swimming, walking the shoreline, or just relaxing and soaking up the sun. We also enjoyed seeing the shells along the shore which made it even more fun. The park itself is very well maintained with clean facilities, plenty of parking, and easy access to the beach areas. There are also nature trails that give you a chance to see local wildlife and enjoy a quieter side of the park. Everything about the visit felt relaxing and well organized. It is the kind of place you can spend the whole day and never get bored. Easy 5 stars and one of the best beach spots in the area.

The trails are well maintained and easy to walk, making it perfect for a relaxing stroll. Surrounded by native plants and shady trees, it feels like a little escape from the busier spots nearby. There's just enough nature here to make it interesting without being overwhelming, and it's great for spotting birds and enjoying some quiet time. What I really appreciated was how calm and uncrowded it felt. It's not one of those packed parks it's more of a low-key spot where you can clear your head, take a walk, and just enjoy being outside. Everything was clean and well cared for, which always makes a difference. If you're in the Safety Harbor area and looking for a peaceful place to walk or unwind, Foley Nature Preserve is definitely worth checking out. What will you find? Even more, there are animals like rabbits and goats for kids to enjoy! Please check the hours for the animals since there are professional hosts to help the animals and yourself enjoy the experience. Plus, it's all 100% free thanks to the family that donated this huge property to the city, the city of Safety Harbor and the many Safety Harbor Garden Club volunteers. How do I know all this? Well, I started volunteering for the Safety Harbor Garden Club two years ago. It's a great group of folks who enjoy being outdoors, enjoy gardening, are incredibly knowledgeable, are willing to share their time, expertise and passion, and have contributed so much to this park as well as another! What an absolutely beautiful park with stunning views!…read more I had the pleasure of visiting here during a February weekend, and it is very clean, refreshing and peaceful. A lot of different birds to see and it's great for a walk or bike ride. We loved walking here during the Safety Harbor BDR (race) and took our time to enjoy the views. I have visited several times and every time it is gorgeous on the way in and out. Appreciate the varied places to stop, rest and take photos too.

This is a smaller park and I like it because it's hard to get lost. It is a circle w/mini trails…read morethat brings you to a main trail or you could just walk the circumference - love the fact other people are using it. I took my pup and saw others w/theirs - some people do not abide by the leash rule FYI. My shelter dog gets easily scared by other dogs, so that was the only part I didn't like. Trash bags are provided for you to help maintain the trail, so be sure to pickup your dog's poop! This place is beautiful - it was baren despite going on the weekend and gives you a chance to really soak in the beauty. Of course, the oak trees & palms including many other plants/trees I couldn't identify are so pretty. There's a small pond (catch & release) surrounded by overgrown vines and trees & two small bridges. There's a dock that overlooks the lake - I somehow missed it and will def. return to check it out. No restrooms. Paved paths available if you prefer. Parking is plentiful.
