Odd place, has good enough selection but a bit of an odd smell, people seem nice and it's next to a good shrimp place

So, my friend and I decided to share a veggie omelet & a black bean & corn veggie burger. Both were excellent, though the burger was our fave. The burger had such a flavorful chipotle mayo (not spicy); it really complimented the blend of corn and black beans with some guac. Yum! The omelet was quite good, too. The incredible selection of veggies were well-cooked and plentiful - asparagus, red pepper, squash, zucchini, red onion, all tucked into fluffy eggs topped with melted provolone. Yum! We'll definitely be back!

When you walk in there's a counter and stools, not many tables, the place is small and needs a little updating. It was Father's Day and the wait was long. Our waitress was great, knowledgeable of the menu, made good recommendations. I had the shrimp and grits which was good but too spicy for me. Steak and eggs were good, not tough at all. I would return to try other items on the menu

After looking for someplace close we found cafe54. SUPER close to campus. My eggs were ok. The corned beef hash was the canned kind just like I like it, because some stuff you can make fresh and fancy up but that preservative, war time taste just hits and you know I'm right. I had coffee that would put hair on your chest. and an Arnold palmer that was kind of watery. Oddly enough I found those traits acceptable. My son had french toast. This is only the 3rd time he's had it (by choice) and he really enjoyed it. While brunch/lunch was a 3.5 in my book it was a 5 for him There is no tap to pay but they do take the usual cash and card. So just don't forget your cards in your pants pockets and you'll be ok. The place was bright and airy with outdoor seating and the service was just ok. Decent place. You should go in a try it out.

I've eaten here twice now the first time I said, I would never go back, but I wanted to give it a second chance. This place basically does breakfast and if you only do one thing, you should be great and let's face it. Breakfast is one of the easiest things to make and do well but this place misses the mark on every level. First impressions walking in the door, the place is freezing cold even the waitresses all have goosebumps and who wants to sit in a refrigerator and be uncomfortable while you're eating? We walked in the door to a nearly empty restaurant with these big, beautiful sunny windows, but they sat in a dark corner while the booths in the windows were all empty. Business 101 people attract people put them in the windows so that they can have use and people can see that the business has customers!!!! maybe they didn't wanna sit us next to the windows because they were covered with greasy fingerprints that looked like they had been there since the last weekend and hadn't been cleaned. The glass was gross. The menu has all the standard fair that you would expect from a regular breakfast restaurant.... in Kansas. all very American. Nothing stands out as being gourmet or unique in a market where there's a lot of money and a lot of transplants who are used to better stuff than ordinary Americana breakfast food. The prices are a little high, but it's 2026. Everything's high. We order our food. I got scrambled eggs and they were hard as rubber because they were overcooked.! How do you own a breakfast restaurant and you can't cook scrambled eggs? I had the eggs returned and they did a decent enough job on the next batch but generally speaking the food was just barely OK. I got orange juice and it came in a giant glass and it was clearly from concentrate. Maybe that works in Iowa but at a specialty restaurant in a fashionable town I want fresh squeeze orange juice. I don't need 10 gallons of it. I would rather have a little juice glass full of fresh orange juice than a gallon of concentrated crap. I just don't think these people understand their clientele and they don't do anything special like blueberries for your pancakes.... There's so many things you can do with breakfast and they just did the bare minimum. It's so disappointing to have the restaurant with the absolute best geography in our community barely trying to make decent food or make customers comfortable in a clean environment. I was charitable when I gave them two stars because I actually felt bad. I want them to succeed, but they really need to rethink what they're doing and try a lot harder.

Our entrees were equally as tasty. I ordered the salmon and it was done well! My only personal preference would be to swap the green beans for the collards next time--the green beans just weren't cooked quite the way I prefer. That said, everything else was really enjoyable. Overall, a great meal at an equally great price. We were pleasantly surprised to walk out for under $65 without ordering drinks. Definitely felt like a great value, and we'd happily come back!

Food was good service was horrible…read more We went in and they told us that it would be 15 minutes for a table, fine, I indicated we wanted inside , since the heat index was 105. There is a huge empty booth right in the front across from the hostess stand, no one was sitting there, we asked if we could sit there for just a moment to cool off in the AC- we were rudely told no we had to wait outside. The next family in line included 2 elderly women and a baby all dressed gorgeous, they also were told they had to wait outside in 105 weather. After about 20 minutes of waiting, (I was just going to tell them to forget it) they said our table was ready. Well, instead of inside with AC as we requested we were seated in a gazebo porch area that they claimed had AC. By this time we were so desperate for cool, we didn't argue that we had requested INSIDE not whatever this room was. It ended up being like sitting in a tuna can. So uncomfortable, my husband and bro in law just went and sat in the car with the AC blasting. Waitress was sporadic to put it nicely. Meanwhile, back inside the booth across from the hostess stand was still empty. Food was fine. But I don't think this place will be around much longer.

It's so beautiful and out the way and unassuming...so if it's your first visit and you did no research and maybe just happened upon this place, you're not gonna know what to expect. I visited this place for the first time and that is what I felt, all with the exception of knowing what to expect to a degree because I did read reviews. All of them were fantastic so I was excited to stop by. It's down a long stretch of road and at the end of it is the most beautiful scenery. It really ties together with the seafood dining experience that you are undoubtedly here to have. I mean the views were just spectacular. And we arrived right around golden hour, which made it even more unbelievably beautiful. When we go to places that we've never been , to give ourselves a true experience, we order apps, entrées, and sometimes desert. So for our apps we got crab dip, and crab egg rolls-those were great. The crab egg rolls weren't overcomplicated with any other ingredients. It was crab and wonton wrapper-that's it-and it was fried to perfection. They are also cut open for you and visually to see all that crab in the egg roll, you excited. They are served with a dipping sauce and that was also great. The crab dip (which I got all to myself because my husband isn't a big dip guy) was phenomenal. I put it on everything and took leftovers home. For our mains, my husband got the mariner platter. I got the salmon. Everything was cooked too perfection. I don't venture too much on getting anyone's mac & cheese at any restaurant. however because so many people raved about it, I got the mac & cheese here as one of my sides and it did not disappoint. My other side was onion rings and I love a good onion ring but not everyone knows how to fry them correctly. A goid indication of a good onion ring is that when you bite into it, that the entire onion doesn't detach from the crispy coating and theirs did not. It was fried perfectly and I know true onion ring lovers are going to appreciate that little tidbit of information. And just to add while I was at home with my leftovers, I added the crab dip in with the mac & cheese that I also had left and that was chef's kiss-so maybe a crab mac & cheese should be in their future. My husband also got the cream of crab soup and I had a spoonful of that as well, and it was so creamy and so flavorful and filled with lump crab meat. I got a cocktail from the bar my husband had water and I believe tea...and those were great. There was not one miss in execution or flavor for any of the things that we ordered. We are very much looking forward to our next visit and we both agreed that this is going to become a regular in our rotation. They have a gem here, and in most cases I feel like the more people that know the better, but at the same time I just wanna keep this all to myself...but at the same time everyone deserves to enjoy all that they have to offer and I wish that type of good energy for the customers and staff alike. GOOOOO!
