I came here by my future in law. He had come here a few times and wanted to show my fiancée and I this place. Service was okay....the server was confused if we had been waited on, which we hadn't by the server in that section. No big deal, minor hiccup. The price of the dishes were at luxury prices for the lack of quality and taste that it actually deserved. They had a HUGE menu but no mussels or traditional baked ziti. Again, that's no big deal but would have expected more red sauce dishes on the menu. The atmosphere gave me cici's pizza without the buffet, If that matters and makes sense? The food was not terrible. I am just very particular about my red sauce and salad. I am Italian. With that being said, I usually judge an Italian restaurant by their salad and red sauce. We came on Mother's Day. We were sat and our drink orders were given right away. We ordered food shortly after and the food came out rather quickly for what we ordered. We didn't see our waiter again for at least another 35 minutes. The garlic knots were hard and somewhat stale. It was just garlic thrown onto of the rolls. The fettuccine alfredo was delicious but the cheese tasted funny. My husband got a pizza and when he got it he basically had to try and napkin a whole layer of water off of it. It also tasted funky. My husband sent it back (he's never sent food back). The salad was tasty. The manager was nice and very understanding about the pizza and docked it from our bill. I grew up going to this place in Ashland. My parents really enjoy this place. It's great for family's with kids or anybody. So, we decided to go back for dinner. They have daily specials that range from Buy one sub get one half off to on Sunday to Pizza specials on Monday. There is plenty of parking and they have a seasonal patio area. I ordered the steak and cheese sub with french fries to share with a friend. The service was great the waiter brought the sub out already cut on separate plates. The sub was great it instantly took me back to my childhood. If you are in or near Ashland give this place a try this Holiday season or in general. read more

I see this business described by other reviewers as "family style." I disagree unless your family are also lazy, greedy and dirty. To begin with the food is incredibly overpriced. (Arguably that is normal for our times.) When your food is comprised of some flour and water, salt and a little yeast covered with some tomato sauce and a little inexpensive cheese your value proposition had better include more than just the food. When we visited, the restaurant was dirty, it is clearly not been improved, upgraded or remodeled since it opened 20 years ago. They seem to charge for everything, in addition to the food. A standard credit card usage fee, which simply means they're charging customers to give them money. They have a sign saying they charge extra for large orders. So if you want to give them more money, you have to pay additionally for that. Meanwhile, as they were overcharging for their mediocre food, there were at least two employees simply hanging out and scrolling on their phones. A suggestion might be that the restaurant cut their labor and then they might be able to charge a reasonable price for their food. We have many other thoughts on how this restaurant remains in business, and why customers would keep going to them. Leaving aside speculation on how they stay in business I will state again clearly all that you need to know: Overpriced, dirty, and depressing. read more

From the second we walked in the waitress was amazing. Very very pleasant and observant. Refilled drinks without me having to call her over. The food was delicious. Tuna wrap with fries, cheese tortellini, and the 18 inch cheese pizza was perfect. Crunch bottom to support the cheese and sauce. I don't usually care too much about decor but the decor here, or rather lack thereof, is particularly notable - it's almost off-putting how basic the set up is. Bathrooms seem like utility closets, tables and chairs seem like they came from a yard sale, and the walls have no paint or pictures but are covered in TVs. Making my way back to home, this is day (7) of my east-coast road-trip and I needed to exit I-95 to fuel up and eat. This exit was quite the busy one, just off the exit is several strip malls and such. As I was driving on the Pkwy. I spotted a sign for pizza and decided to give it a try. I was hoping it wasn't a chain restaurant and it isn't. As I walked inside I could see it had a bar but decided to sit at a table since I wasn't having a beer with my meal. Ordered the two slices and a cola, waitress was nice and brought my drink out soon after. Slices arrived and looked pretty good, put some crushed red pepper on them, Neil likes crushed red pepper. The slices were heated up perfect, I also like the burnt cheese that drips off the edges. I will have to agree with the reviewer, they could hold back on the cheese. Sauce was good and plenty of just bit too much cheese. The cheese was good, didn't seen like a low quality cheese that I come across when they do put on too much. They could make the inventory go further if they use less. Then again, I'm an out-of-towner and that may be what the people want. All in all, I would stop back if I find myself here again. 1st time checking out Brick Oven Pizza. I will definitely need to check them out again. I got a steak and cheese sub with some mozzarella sticks. My lady got an eggplant Parmesan sub. Food was great. Steak and cheese was just how i liked it. Not too long of a wait for the food and it was hot and fresh once served. Sundays are buy 1 sub get the other 1/2 off. So the price was pretty good. I really hate to give bad ratings. In this instance I don't feel bad at all. I ordered chicken Marcella for dinner. What I got was a bowl of water , noodles and chicken under a layer of onion strips. The only thing you could taste was onion. They did take it off the bill. My wife had chicken Francois and it wasn't great but it was edible. I was a little skeptical at first of this little hole in the wall Italian joint but I was super impressed from our first order! I didn't love the thick pepperoni in my calzone but the garlic knots were amazing, the mozz sticks were perfect, and the spaghetti with meat sauce was heavenly. I definitely will be back! read more

Simply not worth the money. Looks delicious right? Bland. Its all just bland. First off the veggies were all still completely crunchy. BARELY cooked. That includes the canned mushrooms. Interesting that I ordered an oven fired pizza and the canned (so already prepped and cooked) mushrooms were still only slightly warm. Call me crazy, but I prefer a cooked pizza to actually have cooked veggies. The sauce...almost non-existant. There's more sauce around the crust than on the entire pizza. Nevermind it was watery (literally water like sauce draining onto the box) but it was also flavorless. The dough could be okay. Its thin enough, cooked well, but again...no flavor. And the texture...well, similar to eating the cardboard box it came in. Not worth a do-over. Head north to Angela's in Ladysmith. THAT'S Italian. read more

In my opinion it needed more sauce and slightly less cheese, but it wasn't bad, just could've been better. My wife, who is 36 weeks pregnant likes to keep her mask on until drinks are served. The flavors of the crust were slightly buttery tasting and no where near bland like a lot of crusts. The cheese was plentiful.. not too much and definitely not skimpy either. My mom and I stopped here for dinner after buying items for my new apartment. I've only ever ordered takeout from here so it was nice to finally sit down in here for the first time. The restaurant had "seat yourself" type seating but we didn't know that (no signs!) until after awkwardly standing near the door we were finally told to sit. Our waitress was friendly but didn't seem too knowledgeable on the menu. She was a bit overzealous but I can't knock her for it because our drinks were always filled and and we never had to search for her. We ordered a steak and cheese Stromboli no onions/peppers however when it came out - it had onions and peppers. At this point, we were starving but they took it back and made us another one which took about 15-20 more minutes. We were starving by that point. The manager gave us an order of fries for free and as well has half off on the Stromboli which was awesome. I'll still visit but probably only as a takeout customer! read more
