I mean it just doesn't get any better than this!!! An AMAZING hidden gem in Ladysmith!!! It NEEDS to be known by more people!! The French Toast platters I got for my mom & me were PHENOMENAL. The platters (2) were about $27 after tax -- & that Includes: 2 pieces of LARGE French toast, Eggs (we got scrambled w/ cheese), fried Potatoes, and choice of sausage/bacon. First of all, that sausage is PERFECT! It doesn't taste like cheap McDonald's sausage!! It's like REAL home grown meats! (Idk if it actually is but it tasted like it!). Second, the eggs & potatoes were SO DELICIOUS!! & Third, that French toast!?!? Holy Cow. Ms. Roxana really blew this out the water with the French toast!!! This is absolutely, hand down; the BEST French toast I've had!! I got my food to go, but the atmosphere of this restaurant is just such a vibe!!! I enjoyed a lovely brunch with my friend a few weeks ago at New Beginnings. We both thought the food was delicious and the decor is so adorable and uplifting: metal butterflies, geckos, flowers, live philodendrons, cheery colors and tasteful art adorn the walls. We sat in the loft which is cozy. I get the feeling this is a family owned business in the most literal sense, as in the place is staffed by a single family, and that is so charming and great to see. The chef was really good about adjusting a menu item to meet my request, but I'd like to see more vegan options on their menu someday. read more

I'm so excited to have a new restaurant option in Caroline! Tucked away in the building units behind Giuseppe's, this cute, little cafe isn't going to get any passersby traffic, so give it a try! The cafe is absolutely lovely! The cheery decor and soft music are warm and inviting. Plush chairs in an ample sitting room upstairs would be a perfect spot to enjoy coffee and conversation with a friend. My mom and I had breakfast early on a weekday, so it wasn't crowded at all. I ordered avocado toast and egg, with breakfast potatoes, and my mom ordered pancakes with fresh strawberries. The food could have arrived a little faster, and the chairs are just slightly uncomfortable, which is why I gave 4 stars instead of 5. Otherwise, everything else was delightful! My perfectly cooked eggs topped tasty, ripe avocado, complimented by crispy and flavorful, diced potatoes. My mom enjoyed her pancakes too. She said they were delicious and perfectly cooked. The owner, I am assuming that is who I met, was so polite, caring, and friendly that I wish everyone could swing in Just to say hello. First of all, it's wonderful that Caroline County has another small business and dining option. The place is nice, clean and very cozy and the food is not bad. A little pricey but not bad as I always try to support small business when I can. THE GOOD: The place is new and clean. The owner was very attentive to our needs and even came from behind the curtain to ask if we wanted onions with our omelette. The coffee is only $1/ large cup (even though it is only Folgers Columbia's but still not bad). The breakfast and lunch menus are very limited but for a small, local place, not bad. The portion sizes for the omelettes we're actually pretty good, very good. You definitely won't starve here - and you definitely have to ask for the hot, avocado sauce for your omelette, or pretty much anything. Believe me, you won't be disappointed. The strawberry smoothie was surprisingly good. A little sweet for my taste but still good; and I like they have the sweeteners, stirrers and cream for the coffee on a separate bar. Also good is they have outdoor seating which is nice in milder weather. The location is a little bit off the beaten path but that should not be a problem once more and more people is aware that she is there. THE BAD: Just a couple of things... #1. The owner is entrusting her front end counter to a 16 year old who doesn't appear to be investing in the business what-so-ever (SEE THE UGLY BELOW). Also, the prices are not listed on the menu board so you're at the whim of a 16 year old to ensure you're charged properly. My only criticism of the food was I asked for crispy bacon and instead received three pieces of undercooked bacon that was incorporated onto my perfectly cooked and amazing tasting omelette. Needless to day I wasn't happy but once I remove the undercooked swine I was fine. I didn't both to ask for a $2.00 refund although I should have. There was also a chubby little guy running around the place and sitting on the stairs playing his gaming system which was a little annoying but not as bothersome as not knowing how much your breakfast cost... READ ON... THE UGLY: The front end service is HORRIBLE. The young lady who works the front end is the owners daughter and I honestly don't believe a lazier human being has ever been born. Here's one reason why... I noticed another patron had breakfast potatoes on their plate but they were not listed on the menu board. When I asked the daughters if breakfast potatoes were available, she said "yes." I then inquired as to why they were not listed on the menu board and she replied, "I'm not in charge of the board!" To be honest, I was shocked, especially because her mother is the owner. I've only been to a few places where the prices were not listed and they were not in Ruther Glen, VA and it included premium seafood and steaks! All-in-all this place is ok. They received 3 stars only because they are minority (woman) owned and new to the area which I truly appreciate. If she can refocus and recommit her daughter, expand her menu by 1 or 2 items and include the prices (and all items) on her menu board she will do well. Good luck! read more

What a little gem! Found this place online while driving south on 95 and so happy we stopped at this adorable cafe. We had the barbaquoa tacos and a quesadilla which came with yummy rice and beans. This place is so wonderful! We're so happy to have another option for meals here in Ladysmith. Everything we've tried on the somewhat sparse main menu was excellent, but the real show stoppers are the daily specials. Today was a Cuban sandwich and it was wonderful! The only thing I would change about this place would be to offer a slightly bigger variety of options daily (maybe some salads on the daily menu?) but I understand that keeping a focused menu helps to reduce food waste and I'm all for whatever it takes to keep this place in business.
