A beautifully decorated home that includes a pool, a movie room, shelves of DVDs and books, billiards and more games. You can choose which room to stay in and my husband and I chose the "Steampunk Room." The room was located in a tower apart from the house. It was so cool! The next morning we had a homemade breakfast and it was AMAZING! Our hosts made us feel right at home and were so kind. So, I booked a room at this place. Even that late at night the staff was prompt and friendly. Check-in was quick. The room was above average for the price range. Everything was clean, the bathroom was spotless. The bed, comfortable. Either I was extremely tired, or the bed was just that good. I was out of the room at noon. I play craps, and this place doesn't have table games, so I spent my time at the bar playing card games on my phone. This place seems to have plenty of slot machines. It didn't take Dad long to drop his $200, but such is gambling. The other geriatric patients that I overheard in the restaurant seemed to have the same experience. Though this joint is clean, it smells like an ashtray. I wish that casinos would consider that most people don't smoke these days. But, apparently the people who suck down heaters still drop money in their machines. Oh well. Parking here is free. The place is easy to navigate. If not for my dad, however, I wouldn't come here. And I definitely wouldn't stay in their hotel. If they added some table games and sent the smoking clientele to the back 40, my opinion might change.

It was too cold to try the pool and outdoor jacuzzi, but the free continental breakfast was nice. My wife especially liked their waffle-making machine. BTW, the Big Thicket Visitor's Center and Kirby Nature Trail are just a few miles to the north, and definitely worth checking out.

Took for ever for water to get warm in shower. The shower head in room 225 needs to be repaired. Kids running up and down the hallway. Outside the entrance there are multiple wasps nests, be cautious. I will say the A/C does blow cold. But that's it. The cold A/C earned a star. My crew will not be staying here when we come in town for work. Beds are also very un comfortable. Have a good day.

Room was fine but some appliances were shoddy. Breakfast is typical, not bad but adequate. Staff was just fine. My chief complaint is the lighting. The large sign is currently unlit at night, and as the hotel sits way back off the roadway, it doesn't have the visibility of the neighboring Hampton Inn. There is a lit sign near the driveway, but someone ran into it rendering it useless. So I drove back and forth a couple of times before I spied the building in the dark. Fix it!

All of the staff I interacted with were pleasant & positive every time I conversed with them. The room was very clean and well taken care of. Everything was well maintained, except the below. The bed was comfortable and I slept very well. The negatives kind of grated on me at times. But considering how cheap the place was, it wasn't like I was staying at a Five Star joint, so you have to give the place a bit of slack. First, the AC was definitely "played with". No matter how cold you set it, it would run for 15 minutes and then stop for 15. It would NEVER achieve any temperature for long if it were blow 70 degrees. I'm convinced that it was set to just say F' U to any customer. The door between rooms to adjoin them was secure but it didn't keep out noise for ANYTHING. If you get one of those rooms, hope you don't get a noisy neighbor. The toilet seat was replaced and whoever was the maintenance moron picked up a local version that was plenty of sizes too small and then didn't secure it very well. Using it feels like sliding on a small skateboard across a bowl.
