Pink Comb was recommended to me by a friend time and time again. I always wear my hair in a messy bun or held up with a clip, so the only time I feel the need to get anything done to them is when I start noticing that it takes more than the usual loops to get everything off my face and neck... which lands me at one haircut every year or so. The entire place is run by one person, so everything is by appointment only. The place isn't huge, but it's definitely a good space for taking one client at a time. The owner is friendly without overstepping, chatty without steamrolling, and best of all, she gets your hair done just the way you ask her to. There are so many benefits to coming here! 1) There's always parking and it's free if you tell them you're getting a cut. I think. They've always let me park for free, at least. 2) If you know my community, this ajumma is the nice kind. She's never judged me despite my bad Korean and it's always a pleasant experience when I go to see her. This has been my go-to spot for haircuts ever since I moved to LA in 2019. The owner is very sweet and always gives me exactly what I ask for. Not to mention her great price! It was $40 up until last year when she raised it to $50, but it's still less than other salons in LA, so I always give her a big tip. Located in the same plaza as Simply Pho You, Kobawoo House, and Alchemist Coffee, (and of course, thanks to Yelp), I was able to find this little gem for a wonderful blow out service in a short amount of time, yay!!! :) I usually go to Drybar, but since I was pressed for time, I was so happy to have found Pink Comb close by, yass!!! Thanks to my stylist, Yun K. Park, I had an awesome blow out with voluminous, soft curls. She does take walk-ins, but for a blow out service, I recommend you call her a day ahead to secure a spot. On the day of my appointment, I arrived 20mins early (yay, no traffic!), and she took me in. Her assistant had me wear a black robe, and then proceeded to washed my hair (amazing scalp massage), and applied a heat protectant on my hair, and afterwards, Yun took over, while her assistant washed and dried the other client's hair. They're very efficient in switching jobs, while ensuring that neither I nor the other client was being rushed or had to wait too long. Before we began, Yun asked me what curls I wanted, and then got down to work. She's a very friendly lady, and does speak minimal English too. I trust her, and let her work her magic, and she exceeded my expectations, yay!!! Yun blow dried my hair while lifting it up with the brush for volume, and then curled my hair, and afterwards brushed it out to get the voluminous soft curls effect. Best of all, I liked that she teased my crown in the back of my hair a little bit for the extra volume, without me even asking her too, awesome!!! Once done, she sprayed some hairspray to give it that extra hold, which lasted me greatly throughout dinner at CUT, woohoo!!! Blow out service total was $30.00, sweet! In the future, I'll come back for other blow out services, and possibly haircuts too. Parking: Friendly valet guys working there. Valet is $1.50, and do make sure you get your ticket validated before you leave. read more

I have been looking for a go-to hair salon for years, rotating between the OC and LA, and have yet to find a place with honest prices and meticulous work. I've finally found one with Pink Comb! COVID-19 protocol: Yun only accepts appointments. I called a week ahead to reserve the first slot of the morning, 10am. I felt completely safe as the only patron in the store; the surroundings are clean and sanitized and masking is required. Credit card is accepted. (I do recommend tipping in cash if possible to give a more immediate return for small businesses!) Experience: I have super thick hair and always feel bad going to a salon since it takes longer than expected to cut and style my hair, especially pre-COVID when salons did walk-ins. I also usually get charged extra for the above reasons. However, Yun kept true to her word of $40 which includes shampooing (if requested), cut, and blowout. She took her time with my hair, carefully giving me layers and shearing off a lot of weight. I feel 10 lb lighter and my hair is now softer than ever. It took about an hour total, just enough for the parking restrictions whether you choose valet (seems like it's not active until lunch hour) or nearby metered parking. We did not make a lot of small talk cause COVID-19, gotta minimize aerosols, but she truly is as sincere as previous reviewers have described. She speaks minimal English but enough to get the job done. If you're looking for a solid place for a thorough hair cut without unnecessary frills, this is it. read more

Really liked my experience here. I saw that they cut hair for $35 but they recently upped them to $40. This is still a reasonable price and I definitely was a fan of my layered haircut. The lady paid close attention to detail and trimmed it to the shape of my face. The process was prolly 30 mins total (without hair wash, I washed it prior coming in) and it was a great experience. This salon is located in a shopping center on the corner of S. Vermont and 7th St. on the first floor next to an awesome coffee shop. They have valet parking for $2 on the weekends or street parking. Since the lot was jam packed, we needed up parking across the street in a parking garage for free. Over the past weekend, I finally decided to chop off and donate as much hair as I could. I made my appointment with Yun and am very happy with my new do! I chopped off about 12.5 inches, to be donated to Children with Hair Loss-an org that doesn't charge families for a child in need of a wig. Since I had already shampooed my hair prior to getting to PC, a different worker just rinsed my hair before getting my hair styled. My haircut took maybe a little less than an hr. For a cut and style it was $35. For those waiting, there are seats set up along the wall and a table filled with magazines. I would highly recommend getting your hair cut here. For the cost and amazing job they do, its definitely worth every penny! read more

I was even considering ombré and although she could have said to go for it and it would've made her more money, she said my hair was a bit damaged and it wouldn't turn out nicely so to leave it as is for a while and come back later. I've been living in Los Angeles for two years now and haven't found a salon that works for me.. but Pink Comb is fantastic! This super cute establishment is located in a tiny mall complex. Valet parking but the owner validated it so that's super nice. LOVE FREE PARKING WITH NO WORRIES. I got a simple trim and the owner Yun was super gentle, friendly and took what I told her into consideration. My hair is on the longer/curlier side so I was nervous and I wanted to keep as much length as possible as well as getting rid of the split ends. She took about an inch off and it's perfect and feels healthy again! Price was also fitting! Thank you so much Yun. Would definitely recommend and I will be back for future cuts! read more

I made an appointment at 9:30am on a Saturday for a trim and to dye my hair. They took about an hr and a half to dye my hair, wash, cut/trim and style my hair. I had a date with my boyfriend later that day and when he saw me, he thought it looked really good so that was a success! I LOVE TERRY! He is just so amazing!! My hair is thick and course but he totally understands how to cut it! =) And to top that off, my hair was really messed up due to a prior haircut from a stylist at etude lounge. When I say messed up, I REALLY mean messed up - like my hair was wayy more layered and thinned out on one side than the other. Anyway - he fixed it all and my hair is so much healthier now - and he didn't even cut that much off...just a couple of inches. Another thing I really like is - he doesn't over style your hair to cover up any possible mistakes - because there aren't any! =D This place is no frills - but to be honest, I don't care for the tea or cookies when I go somewhere to get a haircut....I simply want a good haircut and that's exactly what they do and they do it so well!! Plus, the frills are just a distraction from the underlying truth that a place is understaffed, messed up and over booked, and the fact you are wasting your time sitting around munching on cookies and reading a magazine for 30-60 minutes.
