We went to Pink Mama for dinner tonight. It is very popular and there was a line outside to get in, even though it was raining outside. We started with a margherita pizza. The dough was so light and has a bit of char. The sauce and cheese was excellent. Then my wife had a pasta dish with eggplant that she loved. I had the steak surprise with potatoes. I guess the surprise is the steak is mediocre. The potatoes were excellent. I think steak is very expensive in Paris, maybe not a great choice to order steak, unless you are paying for top quality. Pink Mamma has been on our list to visit since we began planning our trip to Paris. One of our tour guides lit up when we mentioned as did another American living in Paris. We quickly determined that the best way to get a table there is via a reservation. We made ours a week out for lunch and there was a line for the reservations. The wait was quick and we were seated at wonderfully spacious table that is unique in our experience in Paris; space is at a premium. The restaurant was pleasant and uniquely inviting. Our waiter was quiet at first but was good to go through the meal. We ordered spaghetti for my son, stuffed eggplant parmigiana for my wife and I ordered the truffle pasta. The spaghetti had a little kick to it which we all liked, my 10 year old included. My wife's parmigiana was what she put as "...possibly the best pasta, I've ever had...". I had a bite and it was amazing. My truffle pasta was unbelievable. First, the pasta itself was freshly made and substantial in the most pleasant way. The truffle and mushroom sauce was the best I've ever had; they put a good amount of truffle on top of the dish which just added to how great it was. Pink Mama did not disappoint. My family and I were greeted with dirty silverware (food caked onto our forks and some type of grease on the knife's ), when we got our food, my fiancé found an eyebrow hair in her pasta, and while walking to the upstairs restroom there was a window open over the staircase that I hit my head on (partially my fault for not being aware, but definitely seems like a safety hazard). We had an amazing dinner at Pink Mama today. It easily ranks in my top ten Italian meals ever, and yes, I've actually been to Italy. Just a heads-up, you absolutely need a reservation and it has to be made at least two weeks in advance. We started with the caprese salad. We waited a long time to receive our drinks and an even longer time to receive our food. It probably took 40 minutes or longer. We asked for water but were never brought any and our waiter never came to check on us. The food itself was very average tasting and not even picture-worthy visually. Even the stairwell is decorated with photos and fun mirrors and the dishware is stunning. I shared the truffle pizza and pasta and am still dreaming about both, so so good. While the decor and ambiance warrants the hype, the food does not. Like many, I was influenced by TikTok to dine here during my visit to Paris. I made lunch reservations (1:30PM) 3 weeks in advance (for late Sept / early October 2023 timeframe) and there were already slim pickings on dates and times. When we arrived, there were two lines - one for people with reservations and one for people who wanted to wait on standby. They were telling people in the standby line that the wait time would be at least 1+ hour. We were checked in and when we reached the front of the line, the host asked if we wanted a table on the 4th floor to which we quickly said yes! They were cleaning a table already so it was perfect timing. It was a warmer October day and we noticed as we ascended the stairs that the lower floors seemed to have more A/C than the higher floors. We ordered two cocktails (Sex on the Beach Boys & Mango Mule), Big Burrata, the truffle pasta, and a pizza ("Too Hot to Stop"). The cocktails were good and came in fun cups. The burrata was a nice, light appetizer and can definitely be shared between two people, paired perfectly with the complimentary bread, olive oil, and pepper. Unfortunately, the truffle pasta did not live up to the hype - the pasta was way too al dente, like getting stuck to your teeth al dente, and the truffle sauce was bland and under-seasoned. I had to add salt and pepper. The bread on the pizza was really good but the Too Hot to Stop pizza had a very sweet sauce. Overall, I recommend the pizza over the pasta but neither were amazing. Food was very average. The decor and ambiance is fun. As you ascend the floors, there are paintings and art on the walls, with the famous mirror/window spot as you round the corner onto the 4th floor. Service was fine and on par with the type of service we received in France. You scan a QR to view the menu and pay. The other items we ordered being the truffle pasta, basic tomato pasta, the focaccia and the honeymoon dessert were all really good. But I wouldn't order them again. Just very basic and standard items. NOTES TO REMEMBER reserve in advance AND ask the serving staff for balsamic. They will bring you all the fresh bread. My wife saw an Instagram post talking about Pink Mamma, so we decided to check it out. We made reservations online. The day of the reservation, we had a change of heart and tried to cancel. The cancellation process is non-existent. My email said I had to call the restaurant, and when I did, I got dumped into a message saying they would text me a link to MAKE a reservation (which they never did). So after about ten futility made calls, we went. The reception was chaos. There was no one there to greet us, and there were two queues of people standing around. I had a couple of people ask me what to do. After about ten minutes, someone came out to sort the mess. Seating took about 15 minutes. Our table was very nice and the atmosphere was very cozy. That's where the charm ended. We had to wait for about 20 minutes for someone to acknowledge us and take our order (and the menus are online. They allow you to pay using their site, but won't let you order online. A missed opportunity). The food, however, is a different story. The menu regularly changes. This time, we ordered a fantastic bottle of montepulciano, the Regina Instagram pizza, and the bistecca all griglia. The food was fantastic. The pizza was a great blend of fresh ingredients with a hearty heft, and the chimichurri for the bistecca was out of this world. And the wine was a pleasant surprise.
