Came in here after leaving Aerosol Warfare, my Pnut and I were practically melting...... The place is very small, but cozy. I like what they did to the inside of this place, there's a magnetic wall on one side with a mini basketball hoop, which my pnut enjoyed, but i was really afraid that he was going to dunk a little too hard. The people behind the counter, very nice, not at all snobbish hipsters like i have heard, yes they were all tattoo'd out with crazy colored hair, but that's what I liked about them. It actually reminded me of a small pizza joint in the Union Square called Blondies, if your ever in SF, go to Blondies! The pizza, it was really very good, I would say even better than Luigis! We ordered a plain cheese and pepperoni (thats all the Pnut likes to eat) It was good,he loved it, i loved it. It was 15.00 for a 12 inch pizza and 2 drinks, i guess thats about average. I was tempted to give Pink's a 2-star review just because I appreciate that they offer a gluten free dough. However, lots of places have jumped on board the GF trend, so I no longer see it as an especially generous menu option. For my money, Pink's Pizza is a waste of time if any of these conditions applies to your situation: 1. Your time is valuable and limited. Several times, I've walked in only to have the young men who consistently operate the store ignore me and continue chatting with a friend or typing on the computer. I don't expect red carpet treatment, nor do I want it. But acknowledging my presence by saying, "Hello, I'll be with you in a minute," harms no one. 2. You like to receive what you actually ordered. The last time I placed an order for a slice with three veggie ingredients, I got a slice with pepperoni. The time before that, they gave the wrong pizza to a customer who'd had to drive back to the restaurant to pick up the correct one. In the meantime, they'd given his correct order to someone else, who had ordered something different. 3. You like to eat and digest in a mild climate. Every time I've been in, they've been blaring esoteric punk and other avant-garde music. It's impossible to have a conversation with anyone you might have brought in with you, and even if you just want to chill out with your phone and have a solo lunch, it's difficult to concentrate due to the music. Look, I get it. It's a pizza joint run by teens, not Da Marco's. But, if you charge $5 for a slice of pizza, consistently can't get the order right, and maintain an atmosphere that isn't pleasant, something is wrong. This is pricey pizza, make no mistake, so if you want "regular price, four bucks four bucks four bucks," then order from somewhere else--these are premium ingredient pizzas, and you pay for that quality. To me, it's clearly worth it. I was a fan of the Pink's in the Heights, and I'm so glad they opened one in Montrose as well. The delivery guys (and the counter staff as well) probably have more tattoos and perforations per capita than any other pizza delivery franchise in town, but they're efficient and friendly, and its never too freaky to invite them into your house while they deliver your food, so get over it, people--ink is sexy. They have some terrific flavor combinations too (talking about the pizzas now). I'm very partial to Luigi (pesto, gorgonzola, portobello mushrooms and apples), and the Double Down (Bacon! There's other stuff on it, too, but I repeat, BACON!!!) I wish their crust were thinner, or that they cooked their pies in a brick oven and not on a conveyor so that they'd be crispier, or that they sold their gigantic 3' diameter "by the slice" pizzas by the pie and not just by the slice--the slices (one's a meal for most smaller eaters) have thinner, crispier crust and are excellent. But even though the crust isn't my favorite in town, the creative combinations of quality toppings (and the fact that they can deliver in under an hour) has make Pink's my go-to pizza place over my decades-long former favorite, Star Pizza. Their salads, though, are lame and sucky. A real pity. Star Pizza still kicks their asses with the large Caesars they deliver, and I often order the pizza from Pink's and the salad from Star (thus assuring that we get to have our salads for dessert, since star takes forEVER to cook and deliver their food). I actually tried ordering a Caesar once from Pink's and they said they "thought" they could do that, but what I got was tiny, not at all a Caesar, and not worth having. But hey, I don't call for delivery/take-out SALAD. It's about the pizza, baby, and the pizzas at Pink's are good, borderline excellent. And the delivery guys (and counter gals) are fun to examine, in an Illustrated Man sorta way, which is a nice bonus. One of the guys who takes the phone order sounds consistently and thoroughly stoned, but what the heck, they always get my order right, so I don't really care. Pretty good pizza from really nice people. I just finished a couple of slices from a pepperoni, mushroom and JALAPENO pizza I ordered from Pink's. My first inclination is to say that it's just alright, but then I remember that 1) I am in Houston and 2) they actually delivered a hot pizza to me outside of their delivery area. Talk about a save! Let me explain. The pizza itself is pretty good. Crust is thin but not too thin and the toppings do seem gourmet. Slightly better than Star's toppings. Again, pretty good but it just doesn't really grab you like some of the best slices in most major cities. I love Houston as much as the next guy, but there just isn't any truly magnificent Chicago, NY or traditional Italian-style pizza joints (that I know of at least. If you know of one, please let me know). All in all. I'd order here over any of the chains (Papa Johns, Pizza Hut, Dominos) and probably any of the local joints I've been to in Houston. Supporting local businesses is always a priority of mine and these people just happen to be exceedingly nice and local. It's a little expensive, but I think the quality of ingredients is part of it. One last thing of note. Their ranch dressing is not good. Yes, I am a ranch snob and yes, my cholesterol probably could tell you that. Not a deal-breaker for a pizza place, but just a friendly FYI. I've heard that I should order one of their specialty pizzas and I will probably do that next time. Bada Bing! comes highly recommended. Sometimes you pay for great food or great service. I'm a huge fan of Pink's Pizza's gigantor cheese slice. It's probably as close as you can get to $2 New York thin crust slice. The difference, of course, is the gigantor part: one of these bad boys will set you back $5. That gets a little annoying because Pink's retail locations will have slices available, but they need to be reheated. And if you want toppings, those go on after you order. To reheat, they have to be slid through the baking machines just like a regular pizza. So you're not really saving much time by ordering by the slice during peak hours. As for their specialty pizzas, there's lots of good stuff. A medium specialty pizza is $17, and a large $21. Not cheap, but Pink's is healthy with the toppings. Unfortunately, their crust to cheese to toppings ratio loses a lot of integrity once toppings are added. So while you're improving your pizza with artichokes, sun dried tomatoes, Italian sausage, rosemary chicken, feta cheese, or whatever floats your boat, you're losing the wonderful, understated deliciousness of the thin crust plain cheese. Oh by the way, Pink's sets up shop at Free Press Summer Fest, where a slice of pizza, a Melange crepe, and a wash-it-down drink from Juice Girl will literally be the best thing you've ever tasted while not exactly sober. read more

First review, etc. I order from Pink's on occasions that I crave pizza, but am not yet inebriated enough for Late Nite Pie. These guys have the best 'za in town. That being said, it is probably also the most expensive. Last night I ordered a medium Freschetta for myself and a lady-friend, and it was plenty to feed us both (and leftovers for lunch today). It was also over $20 with tax and tip. It was delivered promptly and was both tasty and delicious. I also enjoy their Bada Bing and Double Down; actually every other pie i have eaten from them. I've ordered twice from this place. Pizza is okay; to be honest though, unless you get the more unique toppings, you're probably better off ordering Papa Johns. (my example: The Luigi is pretty good.) To be fair, though, I ordered the "lite" cheese, which might explain my reaction to the taste. 1 hour and 45 minutes for the wrong pizza to be delivered. And the pizza was cold! When I called to complain, the person on the line said they would charge me for the delivered pizza, not the one I ordered. Okay, I can get behind that... After all, the pizza I ordered cost more than the one that was delivered. He also said I'd get a free pizza the next time I ordered, to make up for the long wait time and incorrect pizza. The past two weeks I've had Pink's on three different occasions. Now that's by far the most pizza I've ever eaten w/in two weeks (other then the times spent in Manhattan). And it was all thanks to Pink's magnificent specialty Pizzas. So far I had the Bada Bing and the Magnifico; both are simply MAGNIFICO!!! Today I had the Marie (Chicken, Mozzarella, artichoke, sliced olive, sun dried tomatoes, roasted garlicw/ pesto sauce)... not as magnificent but still okay. I now believe Pink's is the best delivery pizza in Houston. If only they had New York Pizzeria's toasty crust then it'll be perfect. By far their ingredients and combinations are better than that of NY Pizzeria. Another positive is that for an extra buck fifty, you can half & half two specialties on one pie. NICE! The only downside is that it's quite pricey and they don't sell the specialties by the slice. In spite of the fact, I'm now on a quest to try all 20 of their specialty pizzas. "I'm a fan" because Pink's uses fresh ingredients, has creative pies, and everything is just really, really good. However, I was not the biggest fan 2 weeks ago when we called in an order to Pink's on the way home from watching the Rocket's battle LA. We were already on our way to Pink's, so we knew that even though we called it in it wouldn't be ready when we got there. So I entered to pay when we arrived 5 minutes after calling, telling the counter girl to add some garlic bread so we could nosh on it while waiting. She said it would only take 2-3 minutes to make. So they add it to the order, and we take a seat at the counter to wait. And wait. And wait. 25 minutes later, the pizza making guy asks us what our order is. When I tell him, he says we're next. It is then I ask the check out girl where the F our garlic bread is- and she says oops, they didn't make it. Whiskey tango?? They gave us extra garlic bread for having to wait so long, but it all ended up coming out at the same time. Sigh. The pizza is sooo good, you just have to withstand these kind of mixups. We ordered the That Guy (proscuitto, Italian sausage, and chicken) pizza and a ceasar salad- both delish, I love the thinly sliced red onions on the salad. Sometimes restaurants cut the onions too thick and it hurts your tummy to take a bite. We've also gotten the Bada Bing (proscuitto + pepperoni)- yummy as well. read more

Discovered this a few years back when it was just a hole in the wall on West Gray. Not a fan of the national chains and prefer the small start up craft/artisan or whatever you call it. Reminiscent of the great pizza towns and that is what makes it better. The Big Boss or the Bada Ring is usually on my mind when I call. Very much a meat and cheese guy with spices sometimes the occasional olive topping. Had all their sandwiches on over the years on occasion. Meatball is messy as expected. This was the only location I got Pinks from for a while. Now that there are several it is obviously more convenient. IT is pretty consistent across other locations as well. Let me say Pink's converts very well into cold pizza the next day. It is like a transformation from great to amazing. Because in my opinion the leftover it becomes is a great indicator of the ingredients that were used. read more

Legit pizza! This is not Papa Johns or like any other chain. I too, have also only had the Santa Monica after I called them for delivery one night to The Lot "HeeEEEeeEY, GIMMe UR best PizZZZAaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!! I'M at Tha Lot!" 25 minutes later my Santa Monica arrived. In my drunken rage I nearly smashed it on the ceiling when I saw the cranberries - my boys were starting to rage too! "Weee've BEEeen LieD toO!!" Thankfully for everyone involved, it was love at first bite. I don't know how they make cranberry and stinky cheese pizza work but it does. First pizza I have ever ordered from Pinks and it wasn't good. It was the 'Classic' and was a carry-out. It was over-cooked. I told them I wanted a Margharita and they replied "Oh we have that, we call it the classic." Well, the classic has a thick layer of tomato sauce and that is not a Margharita. It just wasn't good. Over-cooked, over-priced, over-rated. So it's either Frank's from downtown, or Pappa John's. There's really not another consistently decent pizza place in town. read more

I've heard good reviews about this place, so I decided to come here for lunch one day. The slices are HUGE! I had really high hopes for this place because Houston doesn't have enough good New York style pizzas. I got a cheese pizza and thought it was okay. The crust was soggy, which I was really disappointed in and the pizza was just really flimsy to and messy to eat. Also, they don't have any fountain drinks or ice but there is a convenient store next door where you can get additional drinks or ice (which was really out of the way cuz I like a one stop shop). The guys behind the counter were really nice and very laid back, so the service was great. I don't think I would try this place again because of the pizza. read more

Great little independent pizza joint with a fun hipster vibe. I'm pretty sure there's a 2 tattoo minimum for working here, but every time I go in (or call in), they're super friendly and helpful. whether dropping in for a slice or a tasty sandwich or ordering a whole pie to pig out on. they're food is awesome! My current favs are Southwestern and Santa Monica. As far as sandwiches the Italian Beef isn't bad. It ain't nothing compared to Chicago's Mr. Beef or Al's, but come on we're in TX! read more

Sorry guys, I really like the toppings and you can taste that they use top notch materials, but the crust just comes out soggy. It happened to both pies I ate. That said, THE CUSTOMER SERVICE IS AWESOME! I had a Marie pizza (with chicken) and was extremely disappointed in their really dry chicken. I was about to write a scathing review when I noticed that their website "guaranteed" their pies 100%. I thought, what the heck, and called the place. THEY GAVE ME A NEW PIZZA! (The guys working there told me that they weren't fans of that pizza either). I think I got the classic and the second time the ingredients were good, but like I said, their crust comes out soggy and for the price, I just don't think its a good deal (I'd do the 5.99 Monday Papa John's pizza or Romanos over Pinks). I went to Pink's pizza on a recommendation from a friend. I had a hard time choosing what pizza to order because they all sounded good. I ended up ordering a 12" Big Boss with jalapenos. The pizza looked great when I opened the box. It was loaded with toppings and piping hot. The pizza is a little on the greasy side, so it'll take a couple of napkins to soak up the greasy goodness. I however just like to eat the pizza as it was intended and let the grease roll down my arm. Although a little greasy, the pizza still maintained a little crunch with every bite. My fiance and I ended up finishing the pizza easily and were both quite satisfied. Pink's is easily one of my favorite pizza places in Houston. It is however, a little on the pricey side for the size. read more

I second what Ruta says below me. It's quite pricey. The first time I got pizza from here we got the margarita ... I can't remember the correct specialty name (roma tomatoes, buffalo mozzarella, garlic..etc no meat!) I think the best part about this pizza place is their attention to detail. By this I mean quality ingredients. On the pizza above they used fresh cut Roma tomatoes (not canned), fresh buffalo mozzarella (not preshredded), fresh minced garlic (not preminced), and fresh basil. Most places like pizza hut don't use fresh cheese, the biggest mistake!! The second time I had pizza here we got half cheese and half pepperoni. Had I ordered we would have gotten the margarita :). It was still good though, it's that fresh cheese, I stand by it. read more

With all of the good reviews, and a name like "Pinks", I really wanted to try this place. So on a lazy Labor day evening, the man friend and I opted to try something new...so we gave the feminine hue pizza joint a call. The menu sounds awesome....lots of different choices that you don't normally see on a pizza menu. We went for a Rocko and a Mediterranean....but both were "meh". Don't get me wrong, the toppings were tasty, the crust was good, and the pizza sauce was super fresh....but I'd prefer my usual from Star with wheat crust that sends me into a state of euphoria. I'm not done with Pink's pie's yet though...I'll give 'em another go, especially since my order WAS ready in 15 minutes. I don't even think Domino's can deliver that! read more

I've tried it twice, now, so I feel comfortable writing a review. About the only great thing I can say is that the sausage is flavorful and has a nice texture. Oh, and the delivery girl was friendly the time I opted for delivery. Everything else was moderate to sub par. A strange sweetness lingered in the finish and evoked memories of the terrible pizza served in school cafeterias. Those aren't the types of comparisons I make for pies worth eating. Today due to the weather, we ordered in. By suggestion of a regular of this establishment...we got five larges. We had pepperoni, chicken, hamburger and sausage. I only had the pepperoni and chicken..both were very good. The sauce was just different and kind of sweet. The crusts were thin, which I prefer, and tasty as well! This review is really just based on the price. We paid $17 for a 12" pizza that was good, but not great. There was nothing special about it at all to me. We got the veggie pizza delivered and the crust was a little too soggy for my liking. For $17 for a pizza that size, I was expecting something way tastier and original. If you want to try an awesome pizza, check out Bombay Pizza downtown. Original ideas, the owner is always there and is great, and the food is just plain delicious....and it's cheaper than Pink's too! read more

It is hard to review this place because I really like the pizza. If they had killer service they would have gotten 5 stars. And if the service was only bad one time, they would have gotten 4 stars. But how you treat people is key. The pizza, pasta, and salads are good. The southwest chicken pizza is AMAZE. But the service is so bad - both delivery and in store. Examples - 1. Ordered delivery with a coworker. Apparently the guy drove by and when we did not answer the phone he did not stop. After we called to figure out why the pizza hadn't been delivered they informed us that we would have to come pick it up. Ummm that is their job to deliver. She had to go pick it up, and they charged her the full amount. 2.- Walked into the place and no one acknowledged us for about 10 minutes. I was driving home from downtown with the kids and my son was extra hungry. I saw this location and saw they sold by the slice. Parking here is convenient but maybe hard to get out if there is traffic. Well l ordered a pizza half supreme and half pepperoni and pineapple which was a big mistake cause they never told me that it's extra $6 to do it. I gave my card to my daughter to pay cause the payment was down... l walked next door to buy some drinks. My total was close to $30 for 16 in pizza. The pizza was greasy and the crust was really thin... cheese just melt the crust basically and the center just fell apart. I'm giving to 3 stars cause it's made fresh and it average on pizza. Nothing special about this place so I'm not coming back. $30 l can get way more pizza. read more

You get what you pay for at Pink's. It isn't dominos - it's gourment pizza. The menu is well thought out, the ingredients are fresh, and the quality is consistent across all of its locations. I've ordered at least 2 dozen pizzas from the Gray St. location over the years and a handful from the heights. Since I live down the street, I prefer pick up over delivery so that I know my pizza will be hot. On a week night, call about 30 minutes before you want to pick up your pizza. 45 minutes or so on the weekends. There was one time that I did opt for delivery and the pizza was luke warm, but after calling they brought me a fresh one in no time. read more

However, if you're looking for some great tasting pizza, check out Pink's. Pink's seems like a place that focuses on delivery (call them to get details about their delivery area) because the interior of Pink's is small and sparse. There were only a few high tables, and it seemed like the rest of the space was devoted to the kitchen. Hey, that's no problem with me if the food is good. And it was. My friend and I ordered the Classic (The 12" was definitely enough for just two people.): feta, pecorino romano, mozzarella, roma tomatoes, garlic, sun dried tomatoes, and basil. The moment I laid eyes on the pizza I was impressed. The mozzarella had melted into perfect circles on the pizza, meaning that they used fresh mozzarella balls instead of the shredded stuff. The flavors of the Classic were, well, classic. The tartness of the sun dried tomatoes coupled with the fresh roma tomatoes, the feta cheese, and the basil went well together (though I prefer my basil chopped rather than in a chiffonade). The crust was good. Not too crisp but not too chewy. Better tasting than a Dominos/Pizza Hut-level pizza, that's for sure. Note: they just have water on tap. Though I suspect this place deserves more stars, I just wasn't blown away my first time there. So, expect an update. read more

I'm not normally a fan of thin crust. But my husband is and we felt like ordering in. I chose Pink's and justified it by saying I was doing it for Yelp. We got the Deuce (not too many vegetarian options on that Specialties list and also, strangely, no substitutions) and the plain cheese. We preferred the cheese. I'm normally a fan for throwing crazy stuff on pizzas: blue cheese, sage, cream sauce, sure! Whatever. But at least on the Deuce, it seemed like overkill. The sauce was runny and made the crust soggy so half the toppings landed on my lap when I tried to take a bite. I ate at Pink's after REFUSING to eat pizza in Chicago, my craving unsatisfied because seriously, if you are only in Chicago for 3 days, why the hell would you do the tourist thing and rush out for deepdish? That would be more cliche than running out to that hot dog place where the customers are racist. There are better places in Chicago (as well as better dogs,) and hey, this is not fish tacos in San Diego we are discussing. Yet, Pizza was calling, and Pink's is the best place in the Midtown/Montrose (or at least near the East Montrose Civic Association) that I have tried -- at least 4 other ventures (no reviews.) I am a pizza snob. I desire fresh cheese like the Japanese desire fresh milk (no seriously. They have 3 dates on their milk: production, delivery to the store, and expiration date. No one buys milk one day later than the delivery date! This prevents consolidation of dairies in megacorporations. A worse investment (high margins, but less volume), but a better product.) It's rare to find a pizza place that can deliver that quality. Pink's comes more close than any place I've sampled in the Sun Belt. So why the 4 stars? Because I'm a critic. I've had better pizza, but it is the best in the Midtown/Montrose area. It's best if you order take-out. It only takes 20 minutes to get the pie and the employees are friendly. read more

I don't understand the bad reviews. I love Pink's Pizza! I ordered the "This Guy" and it was tasty and fresh. I love the crust! I ordered around 5 PM on a Sunday and it was delivered to me in about 30 minutes. I'm sure they get pretty busy around prime hours and/or big games (as do most pizza places) so I'm not sure why the previous critics are complaining. I'd like to give it 3 and 3/4 stars, but this is not Star Search. Maybe 4 stars, depends on my mood. We ordered Pink's because we were stranded at work and had already exorcised the demons of quizno's and chain restaurant eateries. We wanted something with girth, meat on it's bones and full of temptation. Apparently Beyonce Knowles was not available so next on the list was Pink's Pizza. I called in at the heights location and was told promptly to call the W. Gray location. okay. Called W.Gray and was put on hold. for awhile. Long enough to miss all those pesky elevator music songs bestowed on the most irritating waits. Young guy answered and was pretty laid back, chillaxin as the kids put it these days. Typical pizza delivery call. I hung up in the greatest of confidence I would be staring down a nice sized fresh plate of fettucine alfredo within the next 45 minutes. It didn't happen. I was staring down a nice hot plate within 20-25 minutes. Boo-yah! Bonus points for early. I was pretty stoked. The young guy came in, skater type, but within "standards". I have tattoos, I know all about business "standards". Clean-cut I guess is what I want to say.He was quick to pull out our food and lay it before us. I asked him, "So if there is no delivery charge, how do you get driver pay?" He replied "I don't. We rely in good faith on our customers to tip." In pizza-land folks, drivers are paid a rate based on the deliveries they take, aside from their hourly pay for folding boxes, catching oven, answering phones, cleaning , etc. That rate goes towards gas, wear and tear on the vehicle, insurance you HAVE to purchase when using your car for food delivery, as well as condoms, weed and monster energy drinks. All the latter speculatory obviously. The food reminded me of rustic americana pizzeria food. Like old school ma and pop. People like comfort food and this is the Snuggie of classic pizzeria comfort food. My husband devoured his italian sausage sandwich much like coneheads do. I being the vegan, settled for fettucine alfredo. Is it vegan? Hell no! I just can't eat anymore damn salads or lentils, or "cheeseless veggie pizzas" So in essence, I sacrificed my lower intestines as well as morals to eat the fettucine alfredo. Was it worth it? I don't know, ask me tomorrow when I'm on a jetplane with the screaming mi-mi's. Again, in the realm of snuggie-licious comfort food, I can honestly say, "I'm a fan", I'll just have to sparingly be a fan, but I'll take PINK's PIZZA anyday over mass produced cookie cutter chain food. Oh, and have mercy on the delivery drivers. They don't make as much as you think and it's NEVER right to treat them like they are dirt. Tip well, and be polite. read more

I had pink's pizza first at a work event, and I really liked it then. We ordered what I thought was the same pizza, but it came with a lot of oregano on it. Like an overwhelming amount. Probably the pizza would have been good minus half or more of the oregano? Ingredients overall seemed good quality. read more

Work around the corner, and I am usually working alone so I order pinks often. They always let me know how long the delivery time is and usually show up earlier. Pizza is solid and the people that deliver are always nice. One time, i totally forgot I ordered pizza and left work to run errands. they tried to deliver my pizza, but I wasnt there. oopps. Stopped by the store to drop off some money and apologize. My pizza was still there. They ran it through the oven for me and I walked about with a pizza within 3 mins. Thanks guys! read more

Pinks pizza is pretty good. I think it's a little on the herby side but still pretty good. I was a little turned off about not having fountain drinks just bottled drinks. read more
