I moved into Pinnacle at Otay Ranch 5 years and was told the dirty windows would be cleaned (they're disgusting) . They never were. Two maintenance men since then have promised me clean windows and screens. A month ago I complained to the new manager. The people who promised to clean windows no longer work for Essex. She refused to honor their promises. She said if she did my windows she'd have to clean everyone's windows (quoted housing regulations.). She said the people weren't authorized to promise me clean windows. She refused to stand behind her employees promises. I forwarded a complaint to the Better Business Bureau. I've heard nothing from them in regards to my complaint. As an Administrator I have stood behind my employees even when they were wrong and then retrained them so errors were not repeated. Poor Management ! Essex/Pinnacle needs retraining and renter appeasement and satisfaction. read more

Maintenance crew is consistently good. They are very courteous and resolve issues immediately. On the most recent service call I have made, Joshua came in and resolve it. On a side note; in Oct 2020 I reported a pedestrian gate that was broken and the maintenance supervisor entered notes in the ticket that a contractor was called but this was never fixed. Then in May 2022 I reported yet another pedestrian gate broken, got a similar response and still to this date the gate remains hanging broken. Both are facing to Monarche dr. I've lived here for almost 3 years now.... The staff has always been responsive and very kind. The maintenance guys respond same day and take care of my requests ASAP... Security guys are visible in the evenings and make their presence know .... I feel safe here. In the office, Sapphire is extremely helpful, very kind, and always ready to help you. I worked with Eduardo Ruiz in getting setting up with my apartment and he did phenomenal work. He always responded to my text in a timely manner. Worked diligently to get me the apartment i wanted an he was very patient and receptive. Even after i got set up and his part was done he still was very receptive with answering questions and didnt do what most people do and wash there hands of you. His customer service was by far the STANDARD and everyone should try to be like. He genuinely seems to like his job and it shows. If you are in the hunt for an apartment i highly recommend that you request Ed Ruiz, he will not disappoint. Thanks a lot for your help, time, patience, and approachable attitude. The WORST apartments I've ever lived in. My apartment was filled with mold in the window seals and bathroom ceiling from what i assume was from a leak in one of the upstairs neighbors. When the neighbors flushed the toilets or did laundry you could hear my apartment kitchen pipes rumbling. There was once an issue with the plumbing where water came up through my kitchen sink. The next day i came home from work you could tell my apartment was enter from who i assumed was the maintenance man because everything was from underneath my sink. The grass is filled with dog poop and residents let their dogs roam without a leash. If you move here please pay attention to the paint job because they seem to just paint over spots. The closet door was also broken upon moving in. read more

I was not going to post an update; however, since you feel the need to defend yourself and staff actions instead of just apologizing. Here goes. At no point was help offered that night. When I called the following morning, I was basically called a liar. I was sent an email that said what numbers I should've called. (Posted that). I sent you the proof of calls. (Same screen shots that were sent to you were posted. ) With proof in your inbox, you still act like you're in the right. You're not. Being told, it's not in our policy doesn't help you when a person ACTUALLY reads his/ her lease. I will also post the lease. It does not state that lockout services are not fulfilled. So after receiving a call from maintenence telling me, "Now you know the policy," in a tone befit for a child that burned his hand, and now reading this, you've become a 1. One, it is not in your policy. As a matter of fact, it only says some apartments do not offer due to staffing. Lockout addendum only states that I need to have someone on the lease to get a key. It took 6 days to get my lock fixed, even after I expressed my safety concern. I didn't get refunded the cost of the locksmith. Tell me again how you helped? Playing Victim makes you worse in my book Don't move here. It's not worth it. Not when they treat long time residents like this. I was deployed all of 2020 during COVID and still remained with them. Now imagine being locked out, not able to get ahold of anyone, and cold for hours Now you've spent over 100 to get in. Then being treated like a liar by someone you've been loyal to. I stayed here a full year and it was quiet and great community management responds in a prompt manner for Maitenance as well. neighbors were nice and quiet. and I never had any issues here. I parked in garage and can go into my home through it. I am so sad to go but I needed more space. if I ever go back to San Diego I would rent here and I always tell my friends to rent here. the gym and pool is amazing too. the lake outside is phenomena. security going through the gate makes me feel secure. This place was okay when we first moved in, but it went down over time. Trash/dumpster: Kids playing in trash dumpster often and every time they are seen playing in the dumpsters there always seems to be this mess. Literally playin around and INSIDE trash. Brought the concern to the front office, however, nothing was fixed. Loud noise: Was given a warning of being loud while we weren't even home for the duration of the complaint. Then was told to just keep it down period. No apology was made. Spiders: there is a very good amount of them. At the pool and outside in the halls. Yes, they are nature's creatures but it shouldn't be all over the place including the pool area where it should be maintained. Maintenance: never had any issues with the maintenance people. read more
