I had already spoken to the insurance company who had given me dates that proved Twin Cities Orthopedica sat on it for 6 months. When I relayed those dates the woman I spoke with was very aggressive and asked me what I expected her to do. I said I wanted to know why it took 6 months and she said that that's just the way it is. Very rude, very dismissive, very unhelpful. I would definitely reconsider going there simply based on their billing department and rude customer service.

Surgical team welcoming all know their jobs in a warm, friendly environment , beautiful rooms prepping to get you ready. Not the sterile hospital feel there or operating room. Kind care all the way through to 4:00pm discharge. No meds there must go to your pharmacy after. Post op care instructions and out patient only. It's top flight!

And then the FINANCIAL NIGHTMARE started. Instead of billing us for an Urgent Care visit ($100 with our insurance), they sent us a bill for $356 for a "doctor's visit." When I called them together with an agent from my insurance company, they said there are signs in the office saying they bill as if it's a regular "office visit" -- even though the signs on the building and online all say "Urgent Care." My insurance person said it was "scammy." I wrote a letter to Tria, but it was ignored. Almost 2 months after that first bill we get a bill with an *additional* charge of $121 for the X-ray! As if they just woke up that an X-ray was taken, which somehow was "not included" in the $356 charge. So now they said we owe $477! The bill made it clear the numbers would have been even higher if we didn't have insurance. I wrote another letter in June, which they also ignored. Phone calls to their billing company haven't helped, either. It's now been almost 6 months since my kid went there, and we keep getting monthly bills (and a threat of collections).

I can't ever get those eight months back, but thanks to Dr. Klapach, I am slowly getting back my range of motion, and I believe my pain is already less than it was before surgery, most of the time. I just had the surgery in December (which went great, by the way! They do it in an orthopedic facility, not a hospital, so my Covid fears were lessened), so it has only been a short time, and recovery for rotator cuff surgery is notoriously slow. But Dr. Klapach and her assistant Bradley are with you every step of the way, going above and beyond, to the point where the surgeon will actually pick up a phone and call you. Yes, I just about fell on the floor the first time that happened. Dr. Klapach really cares, and so do her staff. I am also really happy with the physical therapists on site. That depth of experience matters when you're literally trusting someone with your limbs. Fact: She's a super conservative surgeon, bless her heart. She never tells me what I want to hear. She tells me what I need to hear. I don't want a risk-taking, skydiving bro giving me health advice. I want someone who's gonna tell me that "If it were my sister, I wouldn't do it" when I ask if I can fly to a wedding a few weeks after surgery because there's a small chance I could get DVT and die. She obviously didn't love disappointing me. But she takes her job seriously enough to be a firm advocate for my healing and my body, and at the end of the day that's what I need. Fact: Her work is excellent. I'm 9 weeks out from surgery and my knee is healing beautifully. I followed her directions and the result is that nothing has gone wrong: no infections, no mistakes, no risks, no mishaps. Just steady improvements day after day, which is all I can really ask for. Fact: She has an incredible team working with her. They called me the evening after my surgery to check in- which at the time felt like an incredible kindness- and when I have questions they always call me back within a few hours. Her scheduler was wonderful, and made sure we had everything we needed to prepare for surgery. He told me that the orthopaedic surgeon misdiagnosed me and that my limbs were dying due to the orthopedic surgeon botched the surgery. He told me in front of witnesses at five separate appointments. At first, Dr. Omlie was concerned, trying to save me from blood poisoning. I felt grateful that he seemed sincere and cared about my well-being. Then Dr. Omlie switched everything he said to us. We took photos and notes at every appointment. Dr. Omlie had a meeting with the other doctors in the group and Fairview. All of a sudden my diagnosis changed. Dr. Omlie's disposition changed in fear of a medical malpractice lawsuit. He was wrong. He did not uphold the medical Hippocratic oath in our opinion. Dr. Omlie was completely on my side telling my family what happened to me at first he believed it was compartment syndrome. I didn't know what that was. Dr. Omlie explained he the surgery was devastating to my lower limbs the bandages from the operation were wrapped aggressively tight cutting off blood flow then death to my feet. He said, I would lose both of my feet, and he would salvage the heels and ankle. I was absolutely devastated. "A healthy person goes into, what most think of as a minor surgery and loses their feet" Dr. Suggested that I wait for a bit until demarcation was finished and he would know where to amputate. My family and I were dealing with this unbelievable tragedy. We felt he was completely reckless and his lack of medical care could of killed me. 2 days later, I'm at the hospital for a previously scheduled appointment with a doctor who was extremely concerned about the Orthopedic surgeon NOT Me. He said, the group called a meeting and we should let the surgeon (that almost killed me and did kill my feet) be in surgery with him. Now Omlie wants the inept orthopedic surgeon involved that "killed my feet" in another operation, while he's amputating me! ??? I was stunned, he flipped on a dime. When I tried to tell him what the unethical doctor did, he laughed and said "I'll have to have a little talk with those boys". We were completely dumbfounded. He completely changed what he was telling us prior for weeks. Then he was referring to his colleagues as "boys". In our opinion, Dr Omlie changed his story-diagnosis and treatment of care for greed. OBGYN doctor was a man, they didn't inform me. No one met and spoke with me, this man just came in the room after 5 hours, and 5 minutes later was operating. They only gave me ibuprofen 4.5 hours in, for an insanely painful condition. Awful hospital, awful staff, awful quality of care. I don't know why these people are nurses, I won't be back.
