I asked for a simple dish: a chicken caesar with the dressing on the side. "It always comes on the side," the guy at the register said. I should have checked before I departed. I got to my hotel room across the street (not three minutes away) and found that it was not only NOT on the side but that the entire salad was swimming in it. At more than $13 for a simple salad that had only Romaine, croutons, grilled chicken and a massive amount of dressing that should have been on the side, it was already overpriced. Before I could finish it, the croutons had practically melted in the sea of sauce dumped on it. (I drive ~350 miles daily, and I was in no mood to get dressed back up to go across the street to get a refund; it was a few minutes after 9 p.m.) Then there was the missing parmesan cheese which was yet another reason to give this lousy place a one-star review. read more

I was stuck in another stopped traffic incident in I-95. So looking for a place to grab I bite I pulled off in Wilson, NC and order a Stromboli from Pino's. I'm so glad I tried this place. This an awesome Stromboli with great marinara sauce. The store wasn't much to look at inside or outside. However, the lady at the counter was super nice, friendly and greeted with a smile. That can go a long ways!! There were tons of filling and it was cooked to perfection. Some places leave the middle a little under cooked and the center bottom is almost raw... not here it was Perfect!! The marinara tasted homemade, if it's not, they fooled me! While driving north from Charleston towards New York, we stopped in here for a quick bite at lunch time on a Tuesday. It's so hard to find something that's good and quick and we ducked in here hoping that the universal love of pizza would give us something worth eating. When we arrived, we were the only ones in the restaurant during the lunch rush. The server was very friendly and told us to help ourselves to the beverage closet while we looked over the menu and decided what we wanted to order. We decided to order a pizza by the slice, and the server told us that they were running a lunch special of two slices and a drink for something like $6.50. He ordered plain cheese and I ordered cheese, ricotta, and basil. The pizza came out fast, which told me that it was probably pre-made and sitting around for somebody to order it. Both of us noted that our pizzas had a very thick layer of oil on top which was off-putting but we tried to blot it as best we could and see how the pizza was anyway. The cheese was very rubbery, and the bottom of the crust was overcooked, likely because it was cooked previously and then recooked with our new toppings. Although the server was friendly, the restaurant was somewhat odd. I noticed while I was sitting and waiting for my meal, that they had nine or 10 security cameras just in the seating area which had maybe 10 tables? I thought this was overkill or possibly an indication of the safety of where this was...or maybe someone paranoid? Regardless it was very odd to me. Prices were good however for people who are wanting a quick and cheap bite, but for me, I've had cheaper and better pizza at Costco. read more

Truthfully, this was a 2nd option for lunch as the burger place had no seats available. Two large window signs promote the lunch specials. One is two slices of pizza and a drink, the other is a sub or sandwich, fries, and a drink. I went with the latter. When I was asked for my order, I selected the veal parmigiana sub with a sweet tea. I was informed that they did not have sweet tea and only offer canned beverages. (Dear business: this is the South. Sweet tea is pretty much required to be offered.) I was disappointed in the veal, as it was sliced into pieces and not what most would expect when ordering this item. Flavor was ok. I was also not impressed to find walmart brand ketchup on the table. Don't believe I will return when I'm in the area. read more

The best things I can say about Pino's were that it was convenient, locally owned and quick. They delivered to the hotel my family and I were staying at in very short order. The not so great? The pizza and garlic knots. The pizza was loaded with so much cheese that most of it had melted off the pizza when it arrived. The dough was too thick to be thin New York style and too thin to be deep dish. It fell somewhere in between and didn't have great texture. The sauce was basically non-existent. It was there but I couldn't really taste it, even after removing all the cheese. The garlic knots were tiny pieces of dough that weren't super garlicky. They were not the soft on the inside crispy on the outside texture my family loves. The red dipping sauce that accompanied them was decent. Looking for local, convenient and quick? My family just had dinner at Pino's in Wilson, and we highly recommend this restaurant! We had a variety of food including a steak sandwich, fries, a slice of pepperoni, chicken Caesar's salad, garlic knots and zeppole. Everything tasted great! The food was clearly made with fresh ingredients, to order and served piping hot. The Caesar dressing was homemade and the best I've ever had! My husband requested some mushrooms on his sandwich, and they were fresh and sautéed. Our daughter loved her pizza and commented how good the crust was. She also decided her new favorite dessert is zeppole, which was so fresh and hot the powdered sugar started to glaze the donut holes. I live out in the country so delivery options are rare. I searched "pizza delivery" online and this place came up really close to my house. I open their website and it says they deliver but there's a $15 minimum. No problem, I'm just glad they deliver. I call them and I ask to place a delivery order. The man asks if I'm staying in the hotel. I was confused and said I'm at my house. He said they only deliver to the hotel across the street. I then pointed out that their website says "delivery $15 minimum." Nothing about a hotel. He then became very angry and yelled "we only deliver to the hotel." I apologized and ended the call. Oh boy it's a nice spot I'm sure they do good business but as a pizza lover I must say the simplicity of a pepperoni slice is the beauty of it. Salty, cheesy and a bit of a crunch is all you need. Driving down the east coast, we needed to stop by Wilson, NC to get some gas and to have lunch. Pino's Pizza is located right near the Wilson exit off of i95. Two stars for Pino's Pizza would be too generous. I had to go with one star. The restaurant itself was pretty clean. I saw on the wall that they had a 97.5 Sanitary rating for some inspection. It didn't really have an Italian atmosphere, considering they were playing Reggae and Bob Marley music. I understand that their pizza ovens are hot, but the whole place was hot as Hades. If you're running a pizza joint, you need to crank up the A/C in order to keep the customers cool. There was only one guy working in the whole place. He wasn't very friendly. I ordered the Supreme Pizza for $17.99. When we got the pizza, it seemed like it was just made with canned/frozen mushrooms, olives, peppers, onions, very few pieces of sausage, pizza sauce and a bit of cheese.The only good thing about the pizza was the crust was pretty good. But if you can't get the other ingredients right in the pizza, what good is it? and the napkin dispenser was out. So in a nutshell, the one star was for the cleanliness and the pizza crust. read more

We ordered mushroom & sausage large pizza. They delivered a pepperoni pizza. We called and complained and in thirty minutes the owner hand delivered the correct one. He shook my hand and apologized. It was a noble gesture and a correct one to do. The PIZZA was tasty with plenty of toppings. The sauce is good too. The crust was baked perfectly. The house salad was a good mixture of fresh mushrooms, red & green peppers, onions, pineapple and tomatoe wedges; over crisp romaine lettuce. The dressing is freshly made. Stopped here for a quick lunch on my way to NJ from FL. I'm sorry to say that the pizza was one of the worst I've ever had. It was not fully cooked so much so that parts of the bottom crust was mushy. The mozzarella was barely cooked as well. No browning of the cheese at all. I like my pizza crispy and more well done so my bad for not asking the guy to put it back in the oven but I was in a hurry. read more
