pretty excellent set up for duck pins and beverages even if you don't particularly like that sort of thing. for the non-ducking set there's all manner of blinking lights on arcade-style arcade games and pinballery or maybe conversation with friends over a cocktail to occupy your time inside or up on the roof? so other than the obligatory "membership" and plague induced hours of operation this is an appealing space. nothing spectacular in terms of style but no catastrophes either; an patchwork of over-stuffed leathery couches, wooden benches, soft iron chairs, and all manner of table-isms the room goes on and on, broken up by islands of activity - bars, bowls, pinballs, arcadia, and other not so subtle breaks in space and time to keep things moving along. upstairs is similar but a bit less electronic - go figure. I've only been during the week in the afternoon before the crowds come and I like it pretty well. small groups of people scattered throughout not making too much noise and generally trying to be good citizens. chatting up the staff I was informed that the open space-to-occupied space ratio is the exact opposite of Friday/Saturday nights where everyone is basically in the way and noisy but unlike the expressways they're mostly moving along... just folks intent on having some fun so go with that and play nice. way too many draft options; barely enough parking; no food; no cash; no youths after 8:00... when that's the extent of my problems I have no problems. PMC is to old timey bowling or billiards emporia what the song "Africa" is to actual Africa; a totally kluged homage but fun like a cheese box on wheels. read more

What a fun place!!! Brought back so many amazing memories! Mario kart/Toe jam and earl if your an 80s kid and grew up on Sega & other gaming systems come here! If video games aren't your thing they have duck bowling/pin ball/ old school arcade games/a huge light bright. Also let's not forget the yard games and a huge jenga. I know I am leaving something out. You won't be board here! They do not serve food but there was a food truck out front. Also it's in an area where's there a lot of awesome options. So the games aren't free. Bowling...pins get messed up a lot and you have to get an employee to fix. They fix quickly but it's a delay. Skee ball. Five lanes but only two worked. Pins Mechanical is amazing! I started going here every Monday for a video game tournament, and it has been such a fun time to come here with all of my friends. The drinks have all been great, the duckpin bowling and pinball are fun ways too pass the time, and the service from everyone who works at Pins has been phenomenal. The bar is really unique with a bunch of free to play arcade games, an energetic atmosphere, and is the perfect place to go out with friends or on a date, as it's lively but not too loud. Went to pins with some friends awhile back and had a blast! Right off walking in I was like wow, this place is huge... . We grabbed some beers from the bar and grabbed a lane for duck pun bowling, first time trying it out and it was very fun. Plenty of arcade games, pinball and other games to keep you entertained. This place was a great find! If you are in town looking for great priced fun this could be your spot. Think of a retro Dave and Busters. There was a crowd to get inside but the line moved fast. Parking was free in their lot and nearby on the street. We had to walk a block but heard the hip hop music playing from our parked car. There was a good mix of music being played to a very diverse crowd. There are lots of various vintage pinball machines, arcade games and physically engaging games to play. Varying in price from 50 cents a game to 6.00. The arcade games and some others like giant Jenga are free as well. Notable games are Pin Ball and Ping Pong boasting wait times of 1-3 hours. We skipped those but observed what looked to be lots of fun if you got there early enough to beat the wait. The space is huge but definitely was closely packed on the Saturday night I visited. The hand crafted cocktails and beers offered, definitely provide a wide selection. The time at the bar was minimal despite the crowds. If you get hungry there was a food truck just next to the front entrance. I would definitely keep this link as a good place to visit for a group, date or even single person there is plenty to do here. read more

Unfortunately, our experience here was tarnished. We initially came in and were having a great time with a large group of people. We were purchasing multiple drinks and everything was great until my friend ordered a tequila soda with pineapple. I had been drinking the same drink, just with the house tequila. The total for my double was $17. My friend was asked what tequila she wanted, she said Casa Migos. When she got her tab for her one drink it was a whopping $45 dollars. The drink was delivered and it was incorrect as it was missing the pineapple juice she initially asked for. When she saw that total, she immediately asked them to please take it back as that is outrageous and she never thought a measly casa migos would be priced so VERY STEEP. When we asked the servers about this, they basically said "too bad". In my opinion, it seemed like the server and the server in training had entered the drink order incorrectly. In no normal circumstance would a double tequila soda be $45 in Charlotte, NC. Another server had told us that when an upgrade is almost double, the servers are SUPPOSED to disclose the significant price increase. Finally after 15 minutes, we were able to speak to a manager. She took the drink off the tab, and also took the drink off the table. I think the right thing to do would have been to let her keep it and adjust the price to something more reasonable, or comp the drink and let her finish it. The manager seemed irritated by our request for a fair price or compensation. It's so unfortunate since we were having such a great time until this point. The drink pricing seems extremely deceiving. As people visiting from major cities, we never expected a measly casa migos to be almost $50, especially when I was drinking the same drink with house tequila for only $17. Other than that, we had a great time and the rest of the staff was super friendly. I only wish that the manager had taken accountability for the deceitful pricing. read more

Came here for a friend's get-together. Definitely not my type of place. Way too crowded, and way, WAY too loud. The retro arcade is pretty cool, and the staff walking around taking drink orders was nice, but that's about it as far as good things I can say. No parking available, had to park about half a mile away and walk. Took around a half and hour just to get someone at the bar to even acknowledge me to close out my tab, while dozens of others walked up after me and got served. Clearly, this place isn't for me, and even if it was, I can take a hint. I'm not a fan of the Southend crowd/scene in general, and this place just affirmed that for me. If you're into the "meat market" college frat-house bar scene, you'll probably enjoy it a lot more than I did. Learn from my mistake, and know what you're walking into before you do. read more

Reading some of the reviews below it sounds like this place has a completely different feel at night, mostly due to overcrowding. I can see how that would be the case especially when a place is new and popular. That being said I came here during the afternoon for a coworkers birthday and I was beyond impressed! There is a massive amount of games and activities from life sized beer pong to skee ball. It was very crowded but they had plenty of employees signing people in and behind the bar so I never felt like I had to wait a long time to get served. I need to come back here to try some food because several people got burgers and they looked delicious! Everyone was pleased with their food and we all had a great time. We love Pins Mechanical Co! Visited over three times now (in the day time) and have had great experiences every time. Most recently we celebrated a birthday at PMC. Reserved two lanes, picked up pizzas from Fuel, and the party commenced! The young ladies at the front were so sweet, even after our game ended they extended playtime so the children could keeping playing. We ordered drinks for everyone and had a really good vibe going. I love that they allow dogs and outside food as they do not serve food. The staff came by several times to check on us to ensure drinks were flowing. While children aren't allow here after 8PM, this is a great place to gather a group of friends for some dope drinks, self care, and endless fun. The spacious building contains a wide spectrum of nostalgic arcade games including but not limited to Mortal Combat, The Simpson's, Mario Games, Skee Ball, etc - free of charge. Paid games included pinball, mechanical bowling (which charged by hour [$10] or 1/2 hour [$6]), etc. I didn't have the chance to full explore the place but the amount of free games kept me engaged for the time I was present. If you weren't tryna play games, there were plenty of TVs, couches, and tables to just drink and chill. In addition, multiple areas of the building served drinks and had a wide selection to choose from. The staff was nice. Music could have been better and cocktail drinks were not made well. I love a good old fashioned and this placed disappointed and it was made by 2 bartenders and both were bad. OMG I have date night with my sons every other weekend and I am trying to take them to different places around Charlotte. If you have kids, or a group of friends alike, this is really "chill" place to take them. They do not serve food but have food trucks in the parking lot to satiate your taste buds. The adult beverages are delightful and the manager & staff (her name slips my mind thinks it begins with a M) customer service is too notch. If you have kids, I would suggest you get out before 8-830 when the adult crowd comes in. Here is the bonus - almost all arcade games are free to play with the exception of a few. The bowling balls are miniature bowling balls (about 2-3lbs) so it makes it super easy for the younger kids to be successful in playing. Our sons had a blast as well as the mothers. We're at your Charlotte location and we've had the worst service of any establishment we've ever been to. The wait staff did not know who had our table. The bartenders would not serve us. The manager refused to speak with us. We had to constantly approach the staff for service. One waitress refused to speak with us or get our waitress. We had a group of 10 and we're expecting to spend the next 6 hours here but because of the tremendously bad experience we decided to leave.
