Exceeded all expectations for hosting our wedding "rehearsal dinner". We rented out the North patio and it could not have worked out more perfectly. When we arrived, I Zoey immediately cleared the patio for us. They had signs on the tables with our names on them, lowered the garage door and had everything ready to go. Throughout the night the manager, (George) checked in with us on the tab and was so accommodating and nice. The service was great (Clifford is one name I recall) and all the services were extremely nice and flexible. I had multiple guests remark to us that it was some of the best service they had received at a bar in a long time. I came here for an ASAE after-party, and it was a really fun place to hold an event! The waiters were very nice, and made sure that we were served water and stayed hydrated. The games were really fun! It's $5 per person for one game of duckpin bowling, which is what my group and I were mainly here for. It was super fun, and I even got a free strikes! The sign above the pins will also say all these super snarky things, such as "You're really bad with balls," or "You did a great job!...that was sarcasm" or "Are you even trying?" You have to wait until the green light goes on before you roll your ball. My group and I made the mistake a few times of getting a great hit......only for us to realize we rolled our ball while the red light was on, and the green light wasn't ready. It would be much more obvious to have the light come on right where the lane number is listed, not next to it as these tiny little lights. Pins Mechanical is yet another barcade in Columbus. It may be tiring to review all these but this is popular for a reason. The specialty here is pinball machines. It has at least 20 that are free when you order. The food trucks are another reason. If you have been to other barcades you have an idea of what it's like. It's located close to the Columbus State area so there's lots of other attractions and restaurants. The bar has a bowling theme. It has several bowling pins all over the bar. The cocktail menu is pretty good. It's about $8 for each. The games are free as long as you buy something. It has an advantage over the others since there's enough space for food trucks. The Porketta truck is permanently here. It has mostly a barbecue and pork menu. There's usually another truck that rotates. It may be the Maanas truck which has great Indian food. There's an outdoor patio right where the trucks are with plenty of seats. I always have a good time at Pins Mechanical. It has great tasting cocktails and lots of games. Many families don't get together often anymore, so my mother and I host a family and friends day. This time we picked the east market for lunch and Pins downtown location. I going to make this short and to point. That will be the last time we ever step foot in there. The wait staff to sign up for the bowling lanes she no respect and show child like behavior towards their elders. My mother is 69 years old and regardless of her lack of knowledge of the establishment should have been treated with respect. The blonde hair black guy Ernest answered with a real smart ass mouth as soon as we checked in. After that put us on a lane that didn't work properly and next to a lane that didn't work at all. My mother was told that she could pay for additional games if she wanted. Which after the first game someone was immediately given the lane. When she went to inquire about this she walked away upset. I then watched Ernest the blonde hair black guy fall to the floor laughing nothing short of a ass kicking I felt was appropriate but because of my skin color being black and his at some point being the same. I walked out knowing would never again return. Poor service and broken lanes is a 1 star place. Save your money and go somewhere else. I hosted a work party here recently and it was an absolute hit! We rented the entire facility for a private party from about 6pM- 10pm. They let you bring your own food in which was nice go or the flexibility. We also had some food trucks on site (the gentlemen running the funnel cake truck were awesome!). Drinks were great and they were fully staffed with bartenders. It was just a great location because it had a nice upscale feel with plenty for everyone ne to do. My husband and I absolutely love Pins! We actually brought our kids here this past Sunday and they absolutely loved it as well! Thanks to COVID, we were able to walk in and get a duckin bowling lane with no wait. Say what?! My husband and I usually have to wait at least an hour to get a lane (on a typical evening date night). We were thrilled! The prices are pretty reasonable. I think it was $6/bowler/game. We ended up playing two games. My kids loved reading the board above our bowling alley as it posts funny comments after each bowling turn. I think the skidmark comment was our kids' favorite. Aside from duckpin bowling, they have plenty of arcade games, foosball, pinball, ping pong, and patio pong. They also keep the drinks flowing if you're thirsty. Sundays are 1/2 off draft beer! We had a couple of hours to kill in downtown Columbus so we decided to check this place out. It was really awesome. Unfortunately we got there 10 minutes after they opened and they're read already a 3 hour wait for duck pin bowling so we didn't get to try that. They have pinball machines that cost 50 cents as well as ping pong, giant skee ball, and foosball. They have a bar, but they do not serve food. There is a food truck outside and they let you bring in whatever food you want. We went on a weekday around Christmas and it got crowded pretty fast. Almost all of the tables were reserved in advance and the pinball machines were pretty full. I would definitely come back again but I would make sure to make a reservation for duck pin bowling in advance. read more

This is a very cool place and perfect for happy hour. My team went after work one day this week. It's pretty dang big and has many games, both in the back room, and on the patio. The beer, wine, and cocktail list is fairly large, and they have revolving food trucks that come daily. It appears it is family-friendly until 8 pm when it becomes 21 and over. read more

Pins is awesome! I read about this place on yelp and when I looked through the website and the pictures it looked great but it was better in person. I had never been or seen duck bowling before and It was great! It was so fun and different. It was past 8 pm so it was 21 years old and above which was nice to not have to deal with any kids and just having a low key night. They have duck bowling, two bars, pin ball machines, foosball, ping pong, other arcade games, outdoor activities (can still do in the cold because of the heat lamps and fire pits) like big Jenga and large beer pong. Very cool atmosphere - pretty cheap too which was nice. No reservations accepted to reserve lanes unless you are having a party of some kind like a birthday party or corporate event. They have good drink options as well. They do not serve food but you can order in food or bring in outside food. I have had an internal battle with myself over what rating to give this place. If Yelp would allow me to give 1/2 stars, I would consider giving it a 3.5. However after further internal debate of whether I should give it a 3 vs 4 star, I finally decided a 3. I have been going to Pins since it first opened and will admit that I am a frequent flyer. For the first couple years, I loved the overall vibe, service, and beer options, however, as time has continued, I've realized I only continue going out of mere convenience since I live within walking distance. Maybe the pandemic is the overall reason for the decline, it's hard to tell, however, the service has severely suffered. I'm someone that tries to give the benefit of the doubt, but like I said, I would consider myself a frequent flyer and after now several times of poor service, I feel obligated to put it with the appropriate rating. Waiting 30-60 minutes is not acceptable. I do appreciate that on 2 of the occasions when I have spoken up that management has helped ease the issue but overall this shouldn't be a recurrent problem. I have also been upset with the enforcement of masks. I, myself, am vaccinated and am not concerned so much for myself as I am for other unvaccinated people. The number of people I have seen roaming through pins out of their seat most recently has now made me second guess going there anymore. I have personally seen no enforcement either. I am a firm believer of still following the rules and protecting those that are not or can not be vaccinated. But this is obviously my personal opinion and belief. The vibe still remains good for groups of people. Can definitely be loud, so it is sometimes difficult to hear conversation, but as long as you're aware what you're getting into then it's fine. Beer options are okay. I do believe they used to be better, but aren't terrible. There are a decent amount of liquor cocktail options for those that don't like beer. A lot of them are on the sweeter end but are good if that's your preference. Patio is nice and can be significantly quieter which I think is a huge win. There are some fire pits which add for a nice ambience. Food trucks are available and will hit the spot if you're looking for food and hungry. I will say a lot are ones I have never heard of or seen before. There's also usually a "street meat" cart out front at least on the weekends. Overall there's obviously major pros and cons to this place and it just depends on what you value as important to your experience which will significantly change your rating. read more

Stumbled on this place while searching for local breweries to visit while in Columbus! Pins offers tons of social games including pinball, trash can pong, giant jenga, foosball, ping pong, and even mini bowling! All games are purchased individual and you can get your name on the list at the Cage where a staff member manages all of the games and equipment. After playing $10 worth of pinball (ATM and change machine available), we got our name on the bowling wait list. After about an hour we received a text message letting us know it was our turn to the report to the Cage for our check in. Games were $6/person and since there was a wait, you could only play one 10 frame game at a time. The bowling is a unique game where all of the pins are attached to strings that get pulling up when knocked down. There is a short lane with tiny bowling balls. We would have given our day a 5 star except our lane continuously had errors and we eventually had to request to be moved to a lane that was working more efficiently. This was a huge headache and definitely brought down our mood. Beer selection was HUGE! They also offered pitchers of craft cocktails and boozy snow cones! read more

My no surprised me with a trip to Pins. I had been wanting to try them out for a while. I really liked the set up. There are machines all lined the walls. The have a few bars in the venue which was nice. Their drinks were adorable and even come in a "pin" cup. I will say I did not like that there is no food sold. Decided to visit Pins while I was visiting some friends in the Columbus area. They recommended that we start the night at this bar. When we arrived the atmosphere was great, and the drinks were great as well! They have a wonderful patio area, where it was nice to enjoy the weather and play giant jenga. The reasoning for the 2/5 stars was because of the game room staff. We were waiting to go bowling for a very long time. When we went to check where we were in line, people kept jumping in front of us in the queue. When we asked how that was happening, their reasoning was "that's yelps fault". That they just started using yelp for managing their queues and you can blame it on them. After that remark and waiting for over an hour, our party decided to leave. Pins is one of my favorite bars in Columbus. It's a great atmosphere and they have a lot of entertainment options. Great place to take out of town guests for a fun night out! Drinks: they have A LOT of beer on tap, so it's a good place for a beer lover who wants to try something new. They also have good cocktails, but they're kinda pricey for what you get in my opinion. Five stars for the heating system outside. As soon as I entered the place and saw the firewood burning outside, I had a good feel about this place and I wasn't disappointed. Pins is the definition of "Fun". I don't know if I can really find a bar that is more fun to be at honestly. They have stuff to keep you entertained for the whole night. It's the perfect place. I love going here with groups of friends. There is so much to do. In the summer we would be playing full life size beer pong against strangers and having a blast. Or playing huge Jenga. They have a ping pong table, which can get really intense. And they have a lot of lanes for like a miniature bowling. They also have a fire pit outside. I mean who doesn't enjoy fire pits? You have to try everything at least once. And make sure you grab some drinks to make everything more fun. They have a pretty decent bar. Bartenders are normally pretty responsive and quick. I'm confident that no matter what your preference, you will find something to like about this bar. You could honestly have fun here Mon-Friday. There is nothing I can say bad about the bar. Came by for a couple of hours on a Saturday afternoon with the family. Pins is all ages till 8pm, when it becomes 21+. Upon walking in, I knew I'd love this place... Big bar, industrial vibe, pool tables, pin ball, foosball, bowling and food trucks. The first thing I said to my wife was, "This is what the inside of my head looks like." My wife is a pinball wizard so we made our way over there first. We blew through a bunch of quarters in our quest to teach our kids the finer points of the game. It's early, but they have promise and we all had a fun time. I also got two lemonades for the kids, a Pins Colada for the wife and a Manhattan for myself. All 4 drinks hit the spot. My friend and I were trying to leave to go to another bar and and needed to let her husband know we were trying to leave. He's likely somewhere in the restroom so we go to the entrance of the restroom and call for him. (There is no door to the restroom, there is a huge wall, so it's not like you can see ANYTHING from the entrance) A second after we call for him this manager GRABS MY ARM and tells us we have to leave because we can't stand in that entrance. I said "you can't touch me, stop touching me" and she proceeded to physically PUSH my friend behind me, through everyone and out the door. This women made NO attempt to simply tell us we can't stand at the entrance or just ask us to leave without grabbing or pushing. read more

Unlike other barcades in the city that let you play for free while you're drinking, Pins charged you on top of your expensive beers and cocktails for duck pin bowling, shuffleboard, giant beer pong, and pinball. This isn't an nominal charge, either. So while it's a fun way to pass time while enjoying some drinks, it's an easy way to squander $100 and have not much to show for it. The facility itself is super nice and well-kept. It has a fun atmosphere, and we love the unique duck pin bowling. Also, we love the location being next door to Elevator brewing and not far from Wolf's Ridge brewing, plus there's ample parking. This isn't a criticism of Pins necessarily, but be forewarned that kids are allowed in Pins. And people bring their kids to a place that is for adults and is also essentially just a bar with cool things to do inside of said bar. Maybe you love kids touching giant Jenga sets or foosball tables while you're trying to play, but we think most people don't. Pins sort of bills itself as being adult forward, and while it definitely is compared to say, Dave and Buster's, we'd love for them to take note from places like 16-Bit and make it 21+. If you haven't yet checked out Pins, it's definitely worth doing, but don't go into it thinking you'll leave without spending at least $50. read more

The have a large and small bar. Two great outdoor seating areas. They have food trucks parked outside if you get hungry. Pins is a lively joint that offers enough room to move around and not feel crowded. The staff was friendly and attentive. The building decor and structure has an industrial warehouse feel. Pins is located in downtown Columbus. You will need to pay for parking or grab a ride to get there. I went for a work party but will most definitely visit again with friends. read more

Visited Pins with a group of four on a fairly busy Saturday, and I came fully expecting to enjoy the place but be bummed by at least one facet of the experience. Yet, I left with nothing to criticize. Yes, the wait for duckpin bowling is super long, but this is expected, and if you aren't in a big hurry, you will be rewarded with a unique and fun bowling experience. We weren't in a hurry, and we didn't come only for the bowling, so we were not discouraged when we were told the wait was 2.5 - 3 hours. We put our names in, and we got busy enjoying the many other delights that Pin has to offer - selecting cocktails and beers displayed on the old-school letterboards above the bars, admiring the warm, industrial interior filled with natural light, denim-colored chesterfield sofas and armchairs, and gorgeous wooden elements, AND playing so much pinball (maybe 30 or so machines, 50 cents per play). The pinball machines are plentiful and range from truly old-school to contemporary (think Game of Thrones pinball). There's a super cool Darth Vader machine that won my heart. It's easy to see why this place gets so crowded, but the space is so large and well laid-out with a few bars and so many different areas for sitting, standing, and activities, that it never feels claustrophobic - something I SO appreciated about Pins. We had great service too. All of the bartenders and other staff members that we encountered were wonderful. As for the duckpin bowling: oh em gee, so so fun. It's $5 per person per game, so our group played two games. We had such a blast. I felt like a little kid, but I didn't have to wear the gross rented bowling shoes or endure any of the things I hate about traditional bowling alleys. We enjoyed our two games (which we ended up only waiting 2 hours to play instead of the possible 3) alongside a pitcher of the bar's Royal Palms Punch. I really wanted to play ping pong, but there's only one table, so we didn't get to do that - I wish they had another table or two! We didn't partake in the food from the food trucks either, but the food people were bringing in looked delicious. We didn't hang out on the patio much since it was so cold over the weekend, but the cold didn't deter people since the patio appeared to be pretty well-heated with fire pits and heaters. I'm somewhere between 3.5 and 4 stars for pins. One stand out is how large it is! Definitely is a good spot for a big after-work happy hour or a bday party or something. Apparently the bigger the bar is, the more people will come... this is a silly new hypothesis that I've created for Columbus, OH. But maybe some of the initial popularity is due to the newness/novelty. I really enjoy the themed decor and themed cocktail drinks They're still expanding (one of the front patios is getting worked on to meet some Columbus city building code)... so there's four square and (floor) shuffleboard to come. Ping pong and fooseball cost money which seems kind of silly to me. The only free activity is giant jenga. I love playing games so much especially if there's 30 craft beers on tap nearby!! But I don't think it's really worth it to pay to play for things like ping pong. For duckpin bowling, the wait has always been waaaaay too long so I have yet to play, but I plan on coming here on a Saturday/Sunday during the day sometime soon. Pints of beer $6, "large" beers $9. Over 30 on tap. Brown derby cocktail was good so I ordered a few of those one night but had about 3 different bartenders make it 3 different ways which was pretty confusing. They do seem to have a lot of people working - clearing glasses, making sure the bowling and all the other games are running smoothly, and even reminding you to keep your beers off the fooseball table lol There are almost always a couple food trucks on the patio with the fire pit. I have always had good times at Pins in the past, but this time it felt like a completely different place. We got there at 9pm and put our name on the list for getting a table. The waitress said it's okay for us to be seated by the fire while waiting for our table, and she assured as someone will be there to get our drinks orders. This didn't happen for 30 minutes after we were seated. I then went to the reception and asked to send a server our way, the lady at the reception said someone will be with us shortly. No one showed up in 10 minutes. They completely forgot about us, and finally at 9:41pm, I got a text telling me to go to the "cage" for our table. I was confused by this but still went, turns out the waitress put us on a list for bowling, and not for getting a table for drinking. I voiced my concern to the guy at the cage and he was helpful and got me a server. But the server was extremely rude to us, not even looking at us while talking. I was totally confused by this and didn't make any comments at that time. But he rushed us to get drinks, making us look like it was our fault for not getting a table in a timely manner. My boyfriend and I attended the soft opening. First of all, I'd like to start by saying that I LOVED the building. From the flooring to the skylight to the 2 patios, I couldn't get enough of the unique touches and the great space! Absolutely gorgeous! Sadly the shuffleboard patio was not open for business yet so we only got to view it but I am definitely excited for that aspect if we come back. I thought the giant Jenga on the patio was a lot of fun and I really liked the fact that they have a permanent food truck on site (at least it looks permanent to me). We tried their chicken sandwiches and they were messy but delicious. Now, I'm giving it 4 stars because it is new and I am hoping the quirks get worked out but my experience was probably closer to 3.5 stars and there was nothing that really jumped out to me to make me want to come back. For instance, I felt like the prices were a little steep for the activities. $10 to play Ping-Pong? Whhaaaaa? Why, though? And I can't remember the prices for the other activities but I remember them just feeling too much for the experience. I ran into a colleague from work who said the same thing. I'd say check out their website but when you click on the activities it just takes you to YouTube videos, so there's that. And while the pinball machines are cheaper than, say Arcade Super Awesome or 16bit, 3 of the 4 pinball machines we tried ate our money. I took a picture of two of them and will post in my review so you don't become a victim. I would have told an employee about the issue but it was simply way too crowded. Which led to another issue: it took ages to get a drink and I mean ages. I realize that it was a special event but if they're ever that crowded on a normal day, this is going to be a major problem. The bartenders kept saying it was taking so long because they didn't know how to make the drinks and had to keep referencing the guide so again, I'm hoping this issue will soon resolve itself. The drinks themselves were pretty good but not worth the wait. My boyfriend didn't like his drink (and I don't remember what it was, something with gin) because it was super small and mostly ice. I had the Pins Colada and it was tasty. They have a great beer selection but standing around for close to 40 minutes waiting for a drink isn't something I relish doing ever again. Hopefully they find a resolution to this issue soon. We didn't get to try the duckpin bowling but may come back in the future to check that out as it did look super fun. I think this is a great nice weather type bar and I did notice what appeared to be a fire pit on one of the patios. I can't say enough about how lovely the patio was and even if you don't come here for the gaming or the drinks, you should at least check out the site. read more

I have been to Pins so many times and it is always a good time. I recommend starting by putting your name in for a lane because it can take a while but there is a lot to do while you wait. Bring quarters or small bills to feed into the change machine so you an channel your inner pinball wizard. They have plenty of good machines so there's never a wait for those. The beer selection is excellent and the bartenders are always happy to offer my a taste if I have trouble deciding. That is, every time. We recently learned if you go on the weekend close to when they open or during an Ohio State game, it is not very crowded and it's easier to get a lane. They show the game on TVs throughout the place and it might be my favorite new place to watch the Buckeyes. There isn't food but they always have some kind of food truck. Quality varies. If you want to bring kids, just check the hours allowed. It becomes 21+ later in the day. Before that, bring em! It's a great family outing. read more

Lots of fun to spend with friends and fam. Great bar for drinks and a nice game of bowling. They didn't have a food truck present when I was there. But they had plenty of space for groups to fan out and enjoy. read more
