What a bizarre pub. Two of us arrived at 5pm for dinner and drinks after work. It was busy, but there were plenty of servers and we weren't in a hurry. We were seated right away... but then we waited. We waited 20 minutes for a server to come to take our orders, another hour and 10 minutes for burgers and fries to arrive, and then after we finished our meal, another 45 minutes for our bills. In that whole time no one stopped by the table to ask about a second round of drinks. I would have taken the poor service personally, but the tables around us were all having the same experience. The only upside of the bar is the TVs. It looks like a fun spot for watching sports but I definitely won't be back to find out. Bad bad service. I was asked 3 times by the exact server for my drink. I finally said I won't have anything because she could not remember a beer. They sat us next to the only other people in there that were yelling when the whole place was empty. The server clearly knew she was giving bad service but did not care . We overheard the server complaining about us when looking for the washroom. We had to find her to pay so we could leave to go across the street to get some real service. We only had poutine and a cider here so your experience may vary. If you like sports bars this is the place for you - there were almost as many TVs as customers! We shared a regular poutine and I had a draft cider. The fries were very good, the cheese curds ample in size in quantity, and the gravy was present but not completely smothering the fries; much of it was under them, not on top. That's a good thing because the gravy was rather odd, with a slightly metallic, artificial taste, and extremely salty. It sure was addictive though; I found it hard to stop eating it. I liked that our waiter asked how we liked it, listened, and had useful things to say: he said it was house-made, rather different from most poutine gravy, and even told us about the poutine at two nearby places, mentioning a regional chain and a local place that makes a more traditional version. In spite of the dreaded TVs I liked the interior, with an attractive bar, dim lighting, comfortable table seating, and dark wood tones dominating. Apparently this place is huge with another floor above and a floor below dedicated to arcade games, pinball, pool, etc. I didn't explore that far. Perusing the menu again just now I see traditional pub food - burgers, fish & chips, sandwiches, nachos, etc. - a few larger entrees (the Miso Cod sounds interesting) and chicken wings with 19 available sauces, 9 dry rubs, and 3 dips (!) Were it not for the many dining choices in the area I would not hesitate to come back. I don't understand the many 1-star reviews and many were from people who only review if they don't like the place. Most just seemed offended by having to behave decently and follow appropriate social etiquette. If that's the case then good riddance - please stay home. read more

On Friday, November 15th the female bouncer working through me out of the bar without just cause. I was perfectly sober and she asked me to leave which was fine. I was obliged to leave until she grabbed me leaving multiple bruises all over my arms, throwing me out of the bar. She acted extremely aggressive while was being completely compliant. She was extremely unprofessional And on a power trip. I would not step in this trash establishment when they are employing trash. Sorry your job pays nothing and you're not good and your life sucks. Great location with a cute 2nd floor patio overlooking Argyle Street. The downstairs was dead when we were there and the tables on the patio were mostly filled but the kitchen couldn't keep up with the capacity. We waited 45 minutes for our food, no manager came around to apologize for the delay, and most people seemed to be ordering nachos which should be a quick kitchen turn out. The food was okay. The burger was a frozen hamburger patty, similar to Costco's but the fries had a nice seasoning on them, but they were very skimpy on the fries. Went to the Pint Public House on a Friday night for the first time. I tried ordering the pretzel bits with beer cheese dip but was told they had just changed their menus on the 1st of March and they don't have those anymore. The waitress recommended fried pickles for an app but then realized those were taken off the menu as well. They didn't have updated menus printed. We were there on March 3rd, so the menus were incorrect for 3 days. We ordered nachos to share (with dill pickle added) and each had a basket of wings which were 50% off, so they worked out to be $7.49 for a very good portion. The nachos were a huge serving!! The food was good pub fare. I enjoyed that they had Michelob Ultra on draft the most. Our service was very good and fast. The place was empty when we arrived at 9pm. What a place! The renovations really look amazing. Low ceilings, different seating plans.. amazing. The menu is huge but very focused which makes me hope most of the food isn't frozen. We've been here a couple times, the first was on a Thursday with 25$ platters.. the platters cover your entire table and we had three of us and it fed us all. There are a few choice you can make on what the player items are and the sauces but I believe you get nachos and fries no matter what. We got wings and deep fried pickles as well - and a couple other things. The food was absolutely amazing. It did take awhile for the waitress to come out and what not but they are still working out a few of their kinks and I don't believe they expected it to be this busy. We also got the cupcakes - which I will always recommend. On a separate occasion we went for wing night, there was a lot of people - absolutely packed. It was awesome to see. Their patio is awesome and such great vibes - again the wait times do suck for anything you are getting but the food and atmosphere is worth it. It's a mostly clean establishment, the bathrooms were terrible - with the toilet roll box on the floor.. no paper towel, super run down and kinda sketchy but you can get over it. All in all if you're coming to have a good time with friends, this is my favourite place on argyle to go. read more

Since the weather was exceptionally nice this day, the Pint Public House was busy with cruise ship passengers, especially the outside dining area. There was only one waitress serving these customers so service was a little bit slow. I ordered the fish & chips plate that came with two large pieces of fish and a bunch of French fries. The menu stated that this plate was accompanied with coleslaw, but never received it. The battered fish and fries were good but very greasy. My wife ordered a hamburger and fries without the bun, but never received the fries as stated on the menu. I will most likely try another pub next time I visit. read more

Just what Halifax needs, yet another sports bar. The one good thing: the food. My veggie burger was freakin' delicious. Mike had the chicken club and fries, and they were both very good. However, I ordered the house salad. It was awful. Like, even worse than my already-low expectations for a sports bar salad. The awful things: service was s l o w and our young, pretty, blonde server seemed reluctant to serve the middle-aged couple not buying alcohol. In fact, all of the servers were young, pretty and blonde. Kind of reminded me of Hooters, only the outfits weren't as revealing. Every surface was sticky. Every. surface. The floor. The table. The menus. Also, avoid the women's washroom if possible. Soft drinks are $3.50/glass. That's the most I've ever been charged. Upscale restos don't charge that much for a glass of pop. Very dim in there. I've never been in a sports bar with romantic-level lighting before. Will not be returning. read more

Best Sports Bar in Halifax! The Pint has everything you need. Giant pitchers of beers called "Table Kegs", delicious food with the best chowder I've ever had. They have lots of tvs and can even play different games with the sound on at the same time! Food portions are huge too and food is reasonably priced! They have TONS of cheap deals on drinks which probably make them the most affordable bar in Downtown. I haven't had a bad experience there yet and been going hundreds of times! Only bar I know that has both Live Music AND djs playing for the late night crowd. A must go if you enjoy the downtown scene read more

Been here a few times. Definitely the happening spot to drink. Especially during the summer with the rooftop patio being open. Food wise... I've only ever had pulled pork tacos & wings. Tacos were amazing, wings drumsticks are a little fatty. The sauce I got, electric honey is very tasty! Napkins are never on the table for wings until you're closed to finished with the wings (so make sure to ask in advance). I do want to order a salad sometime, I saw an order and it was huge! Service is pretty slow. If you want it to be quicker, sit at the bar or order multiple drinks. Ask for the bill in advance/machine to pay. Some nights have a band which is really nice too! Even thought the food & service isn't the best, this is hands down one of my favourite spots to go in Halifax for a night out :) read more

Place was almost empty, at least 4 servers plus the bartender and it was 20+ min to order food and that much again to get a beer after first was empty. Made a reservation for this past Friday on open table. It was accepted, I got a confirmation email and confirmation text the day before, and when we showed up they told us there was no reservation because they don't take them on Friday nights. We showed them the reservation confirmation emails and texts and they basically didn't care. It was ridiculous. I understand not wanting to do Friday night reservations, but don't leave the option open on open table, accept reservations, allow us to get confirmation texts, and wait until we show up to tell us it doesn't exist. My husband and I went to The Pint 1 1/2 hrs before The Mooseheads Game to have supper and a drink. We sat at a table for 20 mins and weren't asked if we would like a drink or even acknowledged. There were a few waitresses around clearing tables, delivering food etc. After we had been sitting there for approx 20 mins, 2 men came in and sat at the table next to us. They were immediately served! We ended up leaving and getting a drink and meal at a near by establishment and still making it to the game on time!!! The six of us sat down, pouring rain and empty. 13 minutes before someone comes over and blames it on how busy the place was. 6 glasses of water, one of us cuts our lip in broken glass mug. Three of us order draft beer, get them and they're warm. We tell the waitress and she says "yeah, we're having problems with the system" maybe tell us before we order or don't serve them at all, hmmm? Men's bathroom full of flies and smaller flea-like bugs. On appearance, the bathroom looks clean but far too many flies. Food comes to table, was decent except for the calamari. I used to come to the Pint every Wednesday because of the wings deal but have found better options in the downtown area who have better wings overall . The live band is so loud that you basically have to be yelling for anyone to hear you even if you're right beside them. This place was an absolute god send for us. We partied here for 2 or 3 nights in a row and had an absolute blast doing it. The drinks were flowing upstairs and down stairs and it was all around a great time. I think Had a burger the first time I went that was pretty good but every other time I ate there I had a chicken sandwich that was stellar. They gave us a discount for being in the military even though we were foreign. The servers were all super sweet as well as the bar tenders. The downfall to this place and I'm not sure if this is all the places we went to well there was the liquor. It might have been watered down or something? I got a tab at the end of the night and it said I drank 16 rum and cokes and that very well could have been true but I know myself and can honestly say there is no way. I'm a big fan of the venue. The tv screen coverage is very good. They hit all the right price points for drinks and food. A very central location. Argyle street new look is awesome. My only criticism is that they need to fry the wings a little more. I like them really crispy before the sauce is applied. Every wing night I've been there they've had very little crispness, sorta that soft, fatty texture. An extra 30-45 seconds in the frier would go a long way, in my opinion. Regarding sauce selection, they have a long list of flavours, but none of them have been spectacular. They're missing the basics like Frank's and butter, a strong Buffalo, hot, and suicide. More like Bubba's selection. After all, the Pint is basically the new home for anyone that misses the Bubba's on Spring Garden. read more

Brought the family there to eat before going to a game at scotiabank center. The service was great, attentive but not overbearing. Food came out all at once (two servers), I had the inferno burger. If you like alot of heat this is the burger for you !!!! It was truly an inferno burger but still had lots of flavor and nice and juicy meat. Only one issue we had is that there were a crowd of 19-22 year olds sitting at the bar close to where we were sitting and they were all extremely intoxicated, sloppy groping each other and acting like fools. They were clearly beyond their limits and should have been ask to leave. This was 530pm on a Sunday not a Friday or Saturday. The Pint had a Facebook offer where you get a year of free tacos if you showed up on March 13th. Sounds great, right? My partner and I lined up at 10:30 (they open at 11). We were second in line. We promptly ordered some beer and waited for our tacos. 12:20 rolls around- NOTHING. We had started asking about our order around 11:45. My partner had a meeting at 12:30 and had to LEAVE because of how atrocious and slow the service was. The most horrendous part is that we watched tables that had come in after us get served all around us while we got nothing despite continuously inquiring about our order. My husband and I live down town and wanted to get out to try the new situation on Argyle Street, now that the city has closed the street to vehicles. I had heard good things about The Pint so we decided to try it. They had some great happy hour deals and we tried the Stuffed Canoes (delicious), wings (thumbs up) and calamari (generous serving). This restaurant has location, friendly staff and a great menu with good food, going for it. Anything that would keep us from not coming back again, are simple fixes and one is up to the mayor/police so we'll see how that one shakes out. First, not having any wine glasses and dumping a can in our glass to serve this special drink was just gross! Cans are dirty and we did not like this set up, at all. The second one is the CRAZY number of people who are BEGGING for money. We had to pass by someone who had set up shop, with their home made sign (begging for money), which was fine but then we had some man approach us and ask us for a twoonie for the bus. His "wife" was with him and we proceeded to watch them bum for twoonie's the entire time we sat out on the balcony, enjoying our food and drink. What was disturbing was watching no less than five other people, arrive on the scene at one point or another, and watch them approach anyone and everyone who wanders past Subway and finds themselves in front of the Loose Cannon. I love the choice of restaurants on Argyle but had avoided the area due to the construction. Now that this is over with, I may avoid it due to the level of unnecessary harassment from the beggars that now line Argyle. If I owned a business on that street, I would become a menace to the Mayor and the Hfx Police until it was remedied. What a shame...such a great place to eat but I feel I have to warn you about the beggars because every single person we saw coming in was approached. read more
