I loved it! What a great new pub in downtown New Albany. We ordered a few different cocktails as well as a couple different bites. First off I had the London, a gin based drink made with Beefeater, a tonic syrup, tonic, cucumber and rosemary. $8 and delicious! Because it was so delicious I had two! The husband ordered an Old Cuban $8 first and it was great and then he was intrigued with the name, Little Death $7, so he ordered it. Also a great choice. Food, was the Red Lentil Hummus $7 and Spicy Tikka Sando $10, both amazing! Go on now, what are you waiting for? Get on in there! You'll love it. read more

I've been looking forward to visiting Pints and Union for quite some time now. I've heard mostly great things, so I had high expectations. I definitely wouldn't say my visit here was bad per-say, but it wasn't amazing either. The parking here is primarily street parking, but there is a lot of spots up and down the street, so finding one nearby shouldn't be too bad. The atmosphere of Pints and Union is pretty unique. It has a bit of a Dungeons and Dragons vibe to it, but not in a bad way. They have board games that you can play, and they also have an upstairs area that you can go to. Like many bars/restaurants in the area, you order your food at the bar/counter, are given a number, find where you want to sit, and then your food is brought out to you. The woman who took our orders was super nice and recommended the Chicken Tikka Masala (spoiler: I really enjoyed it!), so that's what I ordered. My husband ordered the Union Burger, and then we also ordered the Frites and Aioli to share with our friends who were with us. Our friends ordered the Union Burger and the Fish and Chips. Our appetizer came out quickly, and then soon after mine and my husbands meals came out. Our friends meal took a solid 30 minutes longer to come out. It was a Saturday evening when we came here, but the restaurant wasn't super busy yet, so it was a little odd. The Frites and Aioli were great. I'm not sure what types of aioli they served, but all three were tasty, and the fries were cooked pretty perfectly. As I mentioned, I thoroughly enjoyed my meal. I would definitely say that it was the standout here. My husband and friend who ordered the burgers were a bit disappointed with how small the burgers were, but said they tasted great nonetheless. The fish and chips were different than what we expected. We're use to strips of fish with french fries, but here you get one fish. Not a bad thing, just different. Overall, I would give Pints and Union 3.5 stars, but that's not an option here on Yelp. Because of how good the Chicken Tikka Masala was, I'll bump it up to 4 stars. read more

I'm service industry so it's just really rare that I leave a negative review for any reasons- it's not that I haven't had bad or mediocre experiences, I just don't feel the need to blast places. That's why I hadn't previously reviewed Pints. Pints and Union hadn't previously blown my skirt up. The fries (and the sauces, omg) were damn good, and the burger was alright, but I kinda thought the price point didn't match the quality. I did have to admit, though, that no matter how upset I am about having to say the word "sando," the chicken tikka sando is phenomenal. Messy, but whatever. Lean forward. Last weekend, though, they turned me around. My partner and I came here for dinner the other night. He had the burger; he loves that burger. I have had a hankering for good fish & chips since I left New Orleans and let me tell you, P&U nailed it. A big, juicy, flaky slab of haddock coated in a feather-light, crispy, golden breading, just a little greasy, topped with a generous little heap of fresh dill. It sat atop a pile of their skinny, crispy fries and was accompanied by a great tartar sauce and some wonderfully smoky ketchup. The kicker, though, was the Tikka chili nachos. Crunchy pita chips stacked with this absolutely killer, super-saucy house made chicken Tikka masala, picked jalapeños, and pickled onions. I don't even know what to say, it's so ridiculously good. It's in the top. 10 best things I've ever eaten. We ate it all. We ate way too much. We couldn't finish our beers. Alright, y'all got me. read more

I genuinely had an excellent experience here. I can't wait to come back! Its an absolute gem to be in my hometown. It would be a gem in Louisville too, but it's extra extra special in downtown New Albany. My only wish is perhaps in a few years they might decide to make a second location across the bridge. We came here during Harvest Homecoming. I was actually so excited to try it that I just walked right in (embarrassingly so...I hate that I wasn't paying more attention). The owner kindly told me that they weren't open just yet, but were in the midst of opening early due to foot traffic. He offered us to sit down and someone promptly brought us water. He chatted with us for about 10 minutes, and was super conversational and down to Earth. I was still pretty embarrassed at myself for waltzing in, but he couldn't have been nicer. He explained his philosophy for the kind of business he wanted to run and the kind of people he wanted to serve. This place is a SAFE SPACE for everyone. I really, really dig that, especially in downtown New Albany. Thank you! We also chatted about the history of the building and his background. He encouraged us to check them out when they have their full menu post-Harvest Homecoming, and we plan to go back soon. There's a patio out back, and lots of fun little knickknacks and board games upstairs. You're intended to socialize appropriately like a human being here. Put down your phone! Atmosphere is very old world, and cozy. This is the only bar I've ever been comfortable spending quality time, aside from Old Louisville Tavern. We literally spent like 2 hours relaxing and chatting upstairs. Food and drink are stellar. I had the cheeseburger; it was unique and remarkably tasty. There was a tangy sauce that I can't quite describe, other than the fact that it will surprise you. I certainly wasn't expecting it to be so good. Fries were crispy and fresh. I had a blood orange gin + tonic and my mother tried their take on a Moscow Mule. My mother never, ever orders a 2nd drink, but she did here, and that's saying something. I stopped in for a pint and a bite on a Saturday afternoon and the place was not crowded. I was happy to see some vegetarian options on the menu (although it was abbreviated from the online version) and the beer selection was good. I had the Tikka Masala vegetable plate which was so flavorful and not overcooked. The music playlist was really good and not too loud (such a nice change from most bars!) This is a very nice, cozy restaurant. Great selection of drinks and food. My husband and I had two different curry dishes and both were delicious. They were very spicy so if you don't like spicy be careful what you order. The portions were very generous and had really good bread and sides with it. The price was reasonable for everything you get. It is a pub so don't expect anything fancy. You order at the bar and they bring food to the table. Overall it was a very enjoyable dinner. read more

Great atmosphere, really awesome bar. But this place is brand new and I know there are some growing pains to work out- we went there and had 3 dinner items added to our tab. My husband had a few drinks & wasn't paying close attention and just paid our tab- tip included. Got home and I noticed that our tab was $65 for 4 drinks - looked at the receipt and tons of things were added that we didn't order. Called, and spoke to a manager in the midst of the bar chaos so he couldn't hear me, but was able to get the gist and offered to remove the wrong items. I took it upon myself to offer to just eat the tip that we'd paid for double our tab price. It's all fine. It was just an OK way of handling the situation. Neither of us feel particularly motivated to go back, even though it's a really cool bar. I would never expect anything wild- just maybe- hey, we screwed up and would love to buy your drink the next time you come in. That would've maybe cost them $10 at most, foddered good will and brought us back in the door to have the opportunity to motive our opinion. Like I said, good atmosphere and really nice space. Processes could probably use improvement to prevent errors and management should be able to resolve issues in order to make guests WANT to return. UPDATE: so I've added photos of what I presume to be their response to this. I've worked in the service industry for nearly a decade and some of the most valuable advice I've ever received is that as a server or bartender, you have no idea what people have gone through to be in your restaurant. They may have had to scrimp and save for moths to afford a sitter, dinner & movie tickets. Therefore, treat everyone that walks through your door like they've worked to be there. Additionally- I was taught to look at a customer complaint as an opportunity- not only to improve your service, but also an opportunity for a second first impression. Those don't come around very often, so you should always make the most of it. I'm disappointed in the lack of communication, but I get it. It feels like someone just asking for free stuff. I used yelp to point out that processes may need improvement if people's tabs contain errors and offer the chance for me to come back in and change that impression. I love the atmosphere, the cocktails are original and the ones I've tried have been delicious, but the management style is not my cup of tea. I've been looking forward to trying Pints and Union sice they opened. They recently started opening at 11 am on Saturdays which worked out great for us this week. We were some of the first regular customers at Rich O's in New Albany, so we already knew we liked the Pints and Union concept. However one difference between the two, at Pints and Union you order at the bar and your food is brought to you when ready. No traditional table service (server) taking your order. I could see this being a hassle when they are very busy. Our lunch on Saturday started with a Scotch Egg ($7). I've tried several Scotch Eggs around the Louisville area, and this one wasn't my favorite. Pints and Union's Scotch Egg seemed very dense and dry. The taste was just OK, but the texture just wasn't to my personal liking. However the egg is served on a bed of their house mustard and ketchup. I will say their house ketchup is downright addictive. My wife ordered the Big Mac Miller burger ($10) ala carte. The Big Mac Miller is a double patty cheese burger with all the dressings. It was very good, we both thought it was delicious. She also ordered a side of fries ($4). The fries came out hot and the portion was generous, enough for us to share. The fries are served with their house ketchup and I just couldn't get enough of the ketchup which paired great with my Pilsner Urquell. I ordered the Curry Wurst flat bread ($10). The Curry Wurst is served as sliced coins and served on top of crispy Naan Bread. The Naan is covered with a potato paste and a curry sauce. I loved it, my wife thought it was just ok. That's why there's several offerings on any menu, because not everyone likes the same things! Several import and craft draft beers available, plus an extensive list of bottles and cans. I had the Pilsner Urquell, and my wife had the Fuller's London Pride, both on draft. Pints and Union has a great laid back atmosphere and service was good. read more

I went to Pints and Union last night and had a total of 3 drinks within 2 hours. By the time we left I was stumbling around, had trouble walking on my own, and couldn't make out a sentence. 3 drinks is not a lot for me, especially over 2 hours. So I know it was not the alcohol. I'm almost positive it was one of the male bartenders that drugged me. I called to inform them of what happened and the manager, Troy, shrugged me off, told me "I trust my bartenders," and did little to nothing about the situation. I woke up the next morning and had no recollection of what had happened through the entire night and It wasn't until my boyfriend told me what had happened that I knew what had occurred. I just wanted to inform anyone of thinking about going to this bar to watch your drinks and pay attention to the bartenders. read more

This is hands down the best pub in Southern Indiana. Not only do they offer great beer on tap, the food is phenomenal and the cocktails are on point. The small plates they offer are largely Indian inspired, given this is a English style pub and the influence India had through colonization. Anyways, we had the hummus plate and it was so good. The Lowdown cocktail was recommended to me and, being a big fan of bourbon and old fashions, i really enjoyed it. I love this place! I went to Ireland earlier this year (before COVID) and love that this place has a modern Irish pub feel with really delicious food. The booths are 6' apart with barriers between them and sanitized. The cocktails were great and the ambiance was perfect! We'll be coming back soon! I don't get over to Southern Indiana enough, and this gem of a space proves that. I was pretty late to this party but once I got there...I was wishing I had checked in much sooner. The spot is great. Located right in the middle of downtown New Albany and complete with parking options galore too. The inside is deceptively larger than it appears. You walk in and immediately get the vibe of a british/edgar allen poe themed pub. It works well and feels comfortable. The tabletops and such seem to be reclaimed wood...or at least look that way. I enjoyed the vibes and the decor. It's situated almost like a shotgun, but...hold up...there is a 2nd floor! It's about 2/3 the size of the 1st floor and has onesie bathrooms, a large dining table (think 12 top-ish), some small tables and loads of books and games to keep you entertained in case your mates do not. The food menu is pretty savory and reasonably priced. I like the curry themed dishes and their their fries are AMAZING! Dark, skin on, and the right amount of crunchy. The beer options are solid and they have a full bar to go along with the brews. If you haven't been yet, give it a go as soon as you can! read more

My first visit here to my friend Roger's place. A mixed bag, for sure. Parking, no problem. Masks, no problem. Scanning a QR code to access the menu, wtf! What if we had no cell phone? Mine doesn't scan, but after 10 minutes my friend got his to work. Ok. Ordered food, beers, and was served fairly quickly. Both good, but what's up with fast food plastic utensils which sucked and will end up in a landfill? Overall disappointing. You can do better. read more

It was certainly nice to come in out of the rain to such a very welcoming and warm environment such as Pints and Union. The decor is really interesting and the layout is easy to navigate. The upstairs is laden with a significant number of games that can be played by the patrons. All orders go through the bar and then they're brought to the table by their friendly staff. The food and drink menus are very unique. I wish we could've stuck around as an Irish band was about to play. We will be back! read more
