    O'melet & cheesy grits
    Colleen G.

We were here Sunday morning to watch a game The service was great. Friendly & quick as possible. Plenty of seating - at the bar & booths - as well as a few high table "nooks". The food was hot, fresh, & plentiful for the price. The O'melet was so fluffy & plenty of fillings, tons of bacon a plate of (breakfast) comfort food I definitely recommend

Best part of our night was singing along to songs by Stephen Farrior. He made our night!!

Fish and chip are you okay here. Very good. Live music on Saturday. Awesome. Avoid the cheese steak, it was the worst thing ever. Little veg and absolutely no cheese. Dry. Horrible. Fries overly salty. You cannot call it a cheesesteak when there is no cheese. Staff tried to resolve the issue but it took so long the sandwich was dry and cold by then. So avoid it!!!

My friend and I were in the area walking, and wanted to find a place for dinner. We came across Flanagans and thought it would be nice to sit out on the back patio. The service was incredibly slow (a Sunday evening), the waiter apologized multiple times. I ordered a margarita on the cocktail list, it was alrighty, no salt or sugar on the rim. For my meal I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich with fries. The fries were also just alright, the sandwich was boring and lacked personality. I asked for mayonnaise and our server never brought it. Our server was very friendly, it did seem as if he was a bit overwhelmed. With so many yummy restaurants and nice patios on Bardstown Road, this is one place I don't think I'll return too.

    Dry rub fried wings

On a drunken night I met a man who had these wings and he offered me one. I was sure it was the alcohol clouding my judgment but since that night I been craving wings from Flanagan's. So I went back and order them myself and sure enough, they quality was the same. The dry rub wings are so crispy and flavorful. Bar food with high quality is always a treasure. The fries are crispy and delicious. Enjoying these on the back patio during football season is definitely on my calendar.

Ants floating in my tea and no ice

The service was not good. We were a party of 5. Four of the 5 ordered tea for our drinks. After one of the girls was drinking here 2nd tea she saw ants in her cup. That is when we all noticed ants in the tea regular and sweet! We ask to speak with someone the lady at the bar refused to step over to our table. One of the guys at the bar went to get the manger. The manger, who walked right by us and said nothing to use until I addressed him. His attitude was like, oh well! There was no apology or anything!

"Thick cut corn beef and cabbage" from the dinner menu

We went in and had drinks this afternoon (Monday), two double vodka sodas with lemons. simple enough order. We got limes instead, not the end of the world. It certainly was annoying to be told to sit anywhere with menus and have to go find the bartender/waiter after 20 min, on his phone and not a soul in the bar. We Ordered "thick cut corned beef and cabbage" on the menu to go for dinner and got sliced lunch meat and 4 ounces of cabbage. Um... what is this place doing?

Today was probably one of the last warm days of the year, and I happily got to eat lunch outside at Flanagan's. Kudos to Flanny's for having such a great patio and taking several COVID-19 precautions. Among the measures: * All staff wore masks. * Menus accessed via QR codes on table signs (no touch!) * Signage not only requiring guests to wear masks but also reminding guests to wear them if they get up from their table to walk across the restaurant. * Outdoor tables appeared to be spaced out. And I was able to not only find a table by a power outlet -- a big help when working on a laptop -- but I was also able to get a favorite, the fish and chips. This dish came out piping hot. It had two very large pieces of fried fish, with bread, coleslaw, tarter sauce and fries. The breading on the fish was crunchy, and the fish tasted great. The fries were also some of my favorites. Love the seasoning on them. The waitress was prompt and helpful. Thanks for giving me a great spot to enjoy the afternoon.

Flanagan's has a nice sized patio and late night Dj out on the patio. Our waiter was very helpful and friendly. Like most pubs on Baxter they had a nice selection of beer and food fit for a bar.

Ask the Community - Flanagan's Ale House

I want to go somewhere local/awesome for my college grad dinner on a Monday night. Is this a good place for say 10-13 people? Would we need a reservation?

I think it would be a fun place, to go. I would make a reservation, but I am not sure if you need one, but with 10 or more you want to make sure you can get in.

We had a couple cocktails in here and the service was excellent even though it appeared they were filled to capacity. There were 4 of us in our party and we were seated at a table in the corner near the bar. Was definitely a cozy spot with so many people being in there and the bar being full. I had The Holy Ghost cocktail and it was a pomegranate hibiscus sour, it had just the right amount of sour! I do not like bitter drinks and this one was good and easy to drink. My husband had a couple of dark beers, I do not remember which ones but he liked them. They had a nice outdoor area but it was a bit too cool for that but it may be worth a return in the Spring to check it out. Bathroom was also really cool as the decor and theme spilled over into it. We will be back.

Baseball and a hotdog go hand and hand! We got to the restaurant and searched from the top to the bottom, from the front to the back for the Chili dog and it was nowhere to be found on the menu. The waitress informed us they changed the menu a few months ago. Update the website please!! He was so disappointed that he only ordered fries to eat. I ordered the brunch burger. I love eggs but hate a runny yolk. I informed our server and watched her customized my burger (fry the egg hard please). As soon as the burger arrived, I knew I wasn't going to eat it. There was runny yolk on the side (gag reflex). I informed our waitress who was very apologetic about it. She asked the kitchen and they said they would remake it, but I opted for another burger (le sigh). Because they were so busy and hadn't started making my order, we just decided to pay for our drinks eat somewhere else after the game. The server was great, but our experience wasn't.

Wife ordered a mango margarita and doesn't like a lot of tequila, so Kylie went half and gave her a shot on the side in case she wanted to add more. It was wonderful. I had a couple of beers. We started with the fried mushrooms, which aren't what you would expect. It's two large portobellos cut into chunks, battered, fried, and served with sun-dried tomato mayo. They were great. I then ordered a duck taco, brisket taco, and a side of Grippo Fries with smoked mayo. I'd never tried duck but that taco was smack-a-lackin'. The brisket taco was also good, and the fries were fantastic - sweet and spicy, fresh cut, and crispy. Wife ordered a pork belly slider and truffle fries. She enjoyed the slider but didn't care for the fries - just not her thing. The portions here are large. A side of fries will feed three people. We took a hefty portion of them home, as well as some of the mushrooms. We could've sat there at the bar and spent 3 hours socializing and enjoying a smattering of cocktails - love the setting. Look forward to going back and trying one of the burgers at some point.

The cocktail menu features several cocktail specialties, a deep wine and bourbon menu, some other spirits, and a variety of primarily KY brewed beers. I had a couple of the latter options, and each of my two beers (neither of which I'd had before, a "Stone House" traditional lager and a "Kentucky Commons" low ABV cream ale). Our table split a couple of appetizers--the chili wantons and the spinach dip. Both were good with the slight edge to the wantons as they were fairly unique and very flavorful. The menu is not overwhelming--there are just over a dozen or so primary entree options but each looked very promising. I ended up going with the special, which that night was sea bass on jasmine rice with tomatoes. The sea bass was parmesan encrusted and super flavorful, literally every bite of my meal was on point. Great sauce that wasn't overwhelming, the fish and rice perfectly cooked, the little cherry tomatoes the best I've had all season. My wife had the fish tacos and loved them as well. Service was friendly. For the quality and ingredients, prices were fair. I'd say the drinks are even cheap. Dessert looked great, but none of us had room to try any. It was a rainy night and we were in the basement area, which is covered but doesn't have full enclosure, so it was loud as the rain hit the side covering, but dry and nice overall. We noticed two of the bar areas were empty on our way out, which looked like nice quiet places to meet. There's also the full upstairs dining room which looked nice. Reservations highly recommended.
