This was large & the crust was fine but the good inside was more cheese & celery than pot pie. I was looking for chicken, celery, peas & carrots in a chicken style gravy. This was NOT it. Additionally it was mildly spicy like a weird cheesy chicken celery thing. Let's just say but was NOT good. Hubs got chicken strips & fries. The fries were decent & the chicken strips large & good. Won't be ordering the pot pie again unless they assure me they went back to the previous potpie recipe. I ate the hubs fries as I could not eat this thing they called a pot pie. read more

Our group dropped in for a Wednesday lunch and ordered hamburgers, wraps, chicken tenders, and chicken sandwich with various sides of salads, slaw, fries, and tater tots. All of us were pleased with our choices. Service was attentive and friendly. Seating was fairly comfortable and the bar/restaurant area is cozy. Music was great and noise level was mild. My friend and I were in the area walking, and wanted to find a place for dinner. We came across Flanagans and thought it would be nice to sit out on the back patio. The service was incredibly slow (a Sunday evening), the waiter apologized multiple times. I ordered a margarita on the cocktail list, it was alrighty, no salt or sugar on the rim. For my meal I ordered the buffalo chicken sandwich with fries. The fries were also just alright, the sandwich was boring and lacked personality. I asked for mayonnaise and our server never brought it. Our server was very friendly, it did seem as if he was a bit overwhelmed. On a drunken night I met a man who had these wings and he offered me one. I was sure it was the alcohol clouding my judgment but since that night I been craving wings from Flanagan's. So I went back and order them myself and sure enough, they quality was the same. The dry rub wings are so crispy and flavorful. Bar food with high quality is always a treasure. The fries are crispy and delicious. Enjoying these on the back patio during football season is definitely on my calendar. read more

This pub is just a block away from where we are staying while in Louisville. We decided to check it out, and I glad we did. It has a fun vibe. Our bartender, Chase, was super personable and helpful. The service was not good. We were a party of 5. Four of the 5 ordered tea for our drinks. After one of the girls was drinking here 2nd tea she saw ants in her cup. That is when we all noticed ants in the tea regular and sweet! We ask to speak with someone the lady at the bar refused to step over to our table. One of the guys at the bar went to get the manger. The best Irish Pub in Louisville! Flanagan's is nothing short of great. There are several areas to sit indoors and outdoors (outdoors is dog friendly). The staff are kind, helpful, and efficient. The food here is really good. I usually order either their pretzels or onion rings as an appetizer and they never disappoint. They serve delicious fish & chips and their fish sandwich may be the best in Louisville. They also serve a great Reuben and a delicious hamburger. This may be the best place to hang-out in Louisville. I highly recommend it. read more

We went in and had drinks this afternoon (Monday), two double vodka sodas with lemons. simple enough order. We got limes instead, not the end of the world. It certainly was annoying to be told to sit anywhere with menus and have to go find the bartender/waiter after 20 min, on his phone and not a soul in the bar. Today was probably one of the last warm days of the year, and I happily got to eat lunch outside at Flanagan's. Kudos to Flanny's for having such a great patio and taking several COVID-19 precautions. Among the measures: * All staff wore masks. * Menus accessed via QR codes on table signs (no touch!) * Signage not only requiring guests to wear masks but also reminding guests to wear them if they get up from their table to walk across the restaurant. * Outdoor tables appeared to be spaced out. And I was able to not only find a table by a power outlet -- a big help when working on a laptop -- but I was also able to get a favorite, the fish and chips. This dish came out piping hot. It had two very large pieces of fried fish, with bread, coleslaw, tarter sauce and fries. The breading on the fish was crunchy, and the fish tasted great. The fries were also some of my favorites. Love the seasoning on them. The waitress was prompt and helpful. Thanks for giving me a great spot to enjoy the afternoon. read more

Cycled to this pub to get out of my neighborhood for a change of scenery, and the chicken tenders were the best I've ever had! I've been a barfly for almost 25 years! And because I'm a picky eater, I often choose chicken tenders over more adventurous fare especially in pubs. So I've probably had chicken tenders in Florida, Baltimore, Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, and all over the Midwest. But these were the best. They're just chicken tenders, I know! But in my experience they usually have a gross strip of fat in them. Not so at Flanagan's. They were simply delish! read more

Pretty on par for bar food. I got some tenders and fries the other day when I was in here. It was pretty good! I love the selection of beer here. They serve a great Guinness which is what I love to have at bars. If you go to o sheas down the street for a Guinness, it costs more there and it's a smaller pint glass. Dropped in for the fish and chips and sangria. The sangria was good though they overdid the ice (we had a pitcher). The fish and chips were hot and the Cole slaw was cold; salty fries, and I like them that way. Outstanding portions. The fish was underwhelming! Obviously frozen filets battered in house, the beer batter was very good, but the fish was mushy. It didn't taste bad, but it was less than expected. Service was okay, a little slow, and forgot the bread that came with the meal. Obviously not crowded we were there early to avoid any potential rush, but it's possible staffing was reduced. Only street parking is available, though there was more than ample parking available on the street. A nice selection of beer and lots of televisions, it is probably a great place to watch a game. read more

I was invited to Flanagan's Ale House for a business luncheon for my local high school alumni association. I had never been to Flanagan's but I knew it was there. My wife and I had frequented several of the restaurants in that area and just had not gotten to Flanagan's yet. Needless to say, I was more than impressed with the restaurant, staff, and food. We had a limited menu due to it being a group event but there were plenty of options on the menu. Most of the menu items are your typical Irish American pub fare but there are plenty of other options. I had heard about their wings so I decided that I needed to try them. They were amazing!!! Not overcooked, juicy and quite succulent. To make matters even better, the wait staff was on top of their game. I generally drink soda water with lime in lieu of plain water. It's normally a struggle to keep the glass full because it's more difficult than carrying around a pitcher. The staff members never batted an eye and kept the drinks coming. I had an awesome experience and we have been back a couple more times since. I highly recommend Flanagans! read more

My top favorite place to go to for beers and food. This place has a great selection of beers from across the sea to right here at home. Definitely a place to check out if you're ever in the Highlands. I myself can't count how many beers are actually here, I will say there is a beer for everyone. The staff is very knowledgeable when it does come to the beer. You can earn your own mug here when you complete a card w/ a list of beers, I'm in the process of earning my own mug. The bar food here is definitely something you will want to get while you're here. I recommend the burgers and the cheese stuffed breadsticks. You may have to wait sometime depending how busy they are. I've never had bad food here it's always spectacular minus the wait. I will be coming here for years to come. read more

Oh, Dalton... Yes, you, the bartender that very unenthusiastically greeted me at the bar this evening...showing visible signs of utter disinterest and borderline disgust in having to wait on me while I was looking at the draft beer selection for my husband. My husband and I don't get out much, so we are definitely not familiar faces in a lot of these establishments. So we aren't exactly seasoned with knowledge of procedures in some of the bars and what they have to offer. We work very hard and long hours and have a baby at home that we very rarely have the luxury of getting a sitter for, so that we can enjoy an evening out together. I've come along way in my life, but there was a time when I was a bartender for 10 years, and that supported me while I was a single mother. Throughout my experience, I came to know a lot about alcohol and appreciate certain drinks when I'm able to treat myself. One of those drinks is just a good old, dirty vodka martini with some extra olives. I crave it when I go out, because I never get to have it otherwise. So when my husband asked Mr. "Dalton", if he was able to make a martini, and his immediate look of disgust, distain, and absolute inconvenience while rolling his eyes and responding to the question...I knew our visit was going to be cut very short. This was the first face of drink service we were "greeted" with. The first and only experience we will ever have here because of this unpleasant and undeniably miserable person. He killed our very excited mood within minutes of walking through the door. Mind you, this was the first establishment we decided to visit to start off our very rare outing together. And it made us feel extremely uncomfortable and awkward as if we were requesting something so off base. So I reluctantly ordered a beer for myself to make Dalton's life a little easier. And ended up painfully choking it down (I don't drink beer, I drink martinis!!) while trying to figure out how we were going to enjoy the rest of our evening. Oh, Dalton... Find another trade. Terrible lunch today. Went for the Spicey cheese balls and a fried fish sandwich. Unable to order either of those or anything fried ( no fries, no onion rings, no mini corn dogs) because they ran a fried shrimp po-boy special yesterday and were using the same oil today ( I have shellfish allergy). Settled for the beer cheese philly cheese sandwich and mashed potatoes. The meat in the sandwich was old, dry and tough. Tasted like its was reheated in the microwave. Barely any beer cheese on the sandwich and the peppers and onions were barely cooked and crunchy. I asked for extra beer cheese and was given two cups of ice cold grainy beer cheese. The mashed potatoes were covered with this weird looking lukewarm brown stuff ( I can't call it gravy. No gravy I have ever eaten looked like that). There was a crust on the top of them potatoes that was actually tough. They also appeared to have been nuked in the microwave ( see picture) . Lastly, my daughter ordered steamed broccoli and the ends of all the pieces were black. The service was slow and almost non- existent. However we did meet tbe owner He was REALLY nice and moved his own family along so we could have a larger table I don't think we will be back. Let me start off by saying the three stars are only for my waiter Brandon! He was excellent understanding and attentive. Thank you Brandon! AS for the food it was okay. I ordered the spicy Philly cheese steak but it wasn't very good. They also serve my food on a plate with my friend. First time eating here, great outdoor patio area. Nice coverage of trees. Dog freindly. We were there for the Fatheads Bullies and Brews. Very nice orginazation. 2 o'clock brunch. Our server Christan told us to seat wherever we'd like. We chose a comfort booth by the window that could easily sit 4 people per side. Ordered mimosas (tasty, boozy, and $2) and our meals. I order the breakfast burrito, full or sausage, cheese and egg. It was heft inside and filled me up. I especially enjoyed the queso so generously poured over top, although most of my meal was just about cold. Assuming it was prepared before my wife's fish sandwich, which came out nice, hot and fresh. The food was overall good from the comfort and taste department. Our server may have came to assign 3 times throughout our 1 and a half dine in. The owner/manager or supervisor on shift took care of most of our needs and had the pride and customer skills the other seemed to need. The vibe of Flanagan's is pretty exact to an Irish Pub, and comfy for taking your time to eat. This place gets wild in the evening on the weekends. Extensive beers on tap, included all the tasty Irish Pints. We'll be back for brunch again when we can hope to eat out on the patio and service will be a higher priority. read more

I have been coming to Flanagan's for years and have always enjoyed myself. However, my experience last week was awful! My daughter is from out of town and was with me, she asked the bartender (Joe) what the local laws were about selling alcohol and taking it home. Joe replied "I don't give a sh*t what you do with it when you leave, if you get a open-container fine that's on you." My daughter awkwardly laughed, I thought she knew him, she did not. Really?? How rude! Not only that but is that even true? You guys sale beer but don't put it in Togo cups? Thus putting the blame on the customer?? Joe handed my daughter a plastic cup with about 3 inches of foam and walked away. Also, Flanagan's now adds 18% gratiuity to Togo orders.... I don't mind to tip but for Togo orders the tip is usually 10%, and 20% for in-person dining. A little greedy to say the least. Lastly, the food was awful. All of this is fixable. Please take some pride in your job! read more

St Patrick's Day!! Of course, there's no place else we'd be in Louisville. Great atmosphere, good food, amazing servers and good drinks. We were bummed our traditional brunch wasn't available but having authentic Irish food and drink today isn't a bad thing. I'm actually knocking my review down a star. The fish and fries are much the same (the fmight be the best in town). However, in a cost cutting measure they've redone the coleslaw. No more cranberries and it was also rather dry and bland. Not a fan at all. I took one bite and didn't eat anymore. I also suspect that they've changed the tartar sauce. It was much thicker and contained much less dill. These two changes will really impact our dinner visits (of which there have been MANY) because they were frankly highlights of the meal. On this particular night they also ran out of my cider and it was still on the bill (the server corrected it). To round out our sad night, our favorite bartender will be leaving in two days. My boyfriend says no one makes his Sunday Bloody Mary's like her. That also might impact our visits. We shall see. Service is getting slower. The quality is going down. They can't keep staff. I'm bummed because I feel like I'm on the verge of cutting back on our frequent, neighborhood bar/restaurant visits. I go to this bar with my friend from church, because I'm Lutheran and we believe in what Saint Benjamin Franklin said, "Beer is proof that God loves us and wants us to be happy." Amen, amen. The prices are also reasonable, I am tired of finding out I could have bought a six pack for what I paid for one beer. They have excellent service, a wide array of sandwiches and bar food, and good drinks available. We stopped in for dinner last night. I ordered a Reuben, and it was the worst one I've ever had. The toasted rye bread was obviously burnt and the small amount of corned beef was tough and dry and also had a burnt taste. I had to search to see any sauerkraut. I ordered a side salad ($3.00 upcharge) for a very fresh big bowl of lettuce, a small amount of chopped tomatoes with a glob of cheese on top. When the very busy waitress did make an appearance at our table, there was no "I'm sorry, what can we do?" or "let me talk to the manager or cook". Cold and dreary day of rain and my husband and I did a quick Yelp search of somewhere new to us to grab an early small dinner. He wanted fish n chips so the several Irish pub-restaurants that popped up would surely do the trick. We decided on Flanagan's and we got right in and into a booth in the dark pub area. A friendly waitress, whose name escaped me, promptly took our drink orders and delivered menus to us. She informed us that the fish n chips platter was a large platter so as we were wanting to share something we went with that. We enjoyed the delicious hot soft pretzel and beer cheese appetizer and really appreciated that it wasn't loaded with salt! Yum! Our beer battered fish fillets arrived hot, crisp, & greasy (as expected for such food) with crinkle cut fries and a cranberry slaw. A side of a dill sauce was also included. The fish was just what my husband had wanted and brought our minds back to several wonderful pub outings in our trip through Ireland in 2017. The cranberry coleslaw was tart and complemented the fish nicely. Neither one of us are big coleslaw fans but did give this version a several bite try -& notes it's crisp tart kick. Overall we were dining before 7 p.m on a rainy Sunday, so it wasn't at all crowded or loud. Very low key and it was a nice change of venues for us to try. read more
