A quest for a particular bottle of Scotch took us there this weekend. The owner was an amazing wealth of information,and he was delighted not only to connect me with the object of my desire, but also expose me to a variety of things of which I had not been aware. Incredibly knowledgeable, unbelievably friendly and personable. We spent almost half an hour, just talking about whiskey. Literally the worst liquor outlet in Salem, OR 100% do not recommend them as they wouldn't accept my temporary ID replacement as I'm having a new one sent in the mail and the current form + old ID which I use at the dispensary and Walgreens this place wouldn't accept lmfao I had somewhere to be and was perfectly fine not giving a business like this my compensation now or in the future 1/5 only since you can't go any lower. read more

This is I think the largest liquor store in Salem. It's in my neighborhood and gets most of my trade. I've been living here 20 years and I swear to God, I think the staff changes every visit. I know of no other retailer with such a rapid turnover. I have had some extremely unpleasant exchanges and can understand the one-star reviews, but objectively the staffing is above average. If you are into trying exotic liquors or practicing mixology, this is the outlet to frequent. read more

This is a great liquor store. I'm new to town and while it seems one can buy pot on ever corner, it's not easy to find a liquor store. This one is out of my way but I go here instead of the one I drive by on my way home from work. Clean, bright, well-stocked and great recommendations from staff who are friendly and easy to find if you need assistance. Most of the time, I'm a hard cider, mead, and beer-bread kind of drinker -- I'm just starting to learn about wine. And thanks to being brought up in a cave filled with neanderthal neo-con fundamentalists, I didn't learn about liquor from relatives or friends. Which is to say I'm at the just-learning end of the liquor/bar curve. And I've still never actually been drunk or hung-over. --To many closet-alcoholics in the family tree to risk it. But I am an experimenter -- and this is my kind of liquor store. A 15 foot long wall full of flavored vodkas. Another 10 feet each of tequilas, bourbons, and rums... And a glass wall-case for the expensive and hard to find goodies. Half the store is mixers, additions, bar ware, gift boxes, university mascot-emblazoned steins, and seasonal displays. My only complaint is that like most liquor stores, they keep the mixing liquors and liqueurs in the middle of the store on low shelves (so they can see what people are doing at the huge wall-o-vodka) and everything is down low where it's impossible to read labels. They have a great display for local and NW products -- and even a shelf of the most basic bitters in the mixer section. (Though the Meadow, and Pearl Specialty in Portland really have the bitters market sewn up tight.) And being Nov 1 -- they also had a wall full of egg nog! Besides the things I went in for (isn't it always the way?) I came out with little airplane sized bottles of 2 different cinnamon flavored whiskey brands so I can compare and pick a fave (mmmm with espresso & Frangelica....) And 3 new flavors of vodka to try and play with. It's like learning chemistry and cooking all over again! read more

I am not a big drinker. So when I offered to supply 100 Jell-O-Shots in various flavors as my contribution to a party this weekend, I figured I needed to go to the pros for a little advice. I'd stopped at the Liquor Outlet a couple of times before looking for birthday or Christmas presents, and was always impressed by the helpfulness of the staff. The business itself is pretty large, and has a ton of different liquors. Way too many for me to make any sort of decision without help though. So I walk in and make a line for the counter where I state my objective and ask for help. The lady came around and while giving me a short run down of what goes well with what and measurements and such, points out a couple good choices of Vodka. I grabbed the less expensive of the two, as she said - you could spend $100 on a bottle of Vodka for Jell-O Shots, but no one would taste or know the difference. She also says that Peach Schnapps is a great mixer to use with the Vodka, so I grab a bottle. Next was the shot containers. I had two choices, a fat round container or a tall round container. She explained to me that the fat round one was hard to get the shot out of but the tall one you could squeeze, making life much better all around. So I opted for the tall. With my recipe in hand, and two bottles bagged, I left. Although I may be back. I was doing the math in my head; I believe I only have enough for about 50 1.5 oz shots. At least I know I always have a great store waiting for me. read more

I was in Salem recently and you can not buy spirits in the grocery store in Oregon! I was seeing some friends and I found the Liquor Outlet. I thought, this is going to be a quick stop, grab some spirits and out! Well, I was certainly wrong! It was amazing in the store! When you walk in, there is free Vodka tasting and in the back corner there were about 15 local brews on tap, also free tastings! The growlers were reasonably priced and they had an outstanding IPA (11.5%) Boneyards Triple IPA. It is delicious and not super hoppy. I bought a large and a small growler. They had fun gifts and an amazingly friendly staff. Next time I am in Salem, I will be stopping by to refill my growlers! read more

This is the best liquor store around. I've recently returned to Oregon after many years. Unfortunately I've not been able to find my favourite drink anywhere in Salem, which was available everywhere from the state I'd been living in. I asked if they'd order me some and they did! I'm not much of a drinker but love a vodka slushie in the summer. I love to come to here for the variety of sizes and huge choice of brands. Everyone is always so helpful and polite. Stopped in today for a small bottle of vodka. While looking at the brands a worker approached me to help. She saw my hearing aid and signed while speaking. I can hear but was so grateful for her kindness. The cashier was helpful with my questions. Thank you for the great customer service. read more

I have recently started visiting this liquor store because I moved into the area. At every liquor store I've been to all around Salem tonight's service was especially disappointing. I work in the customer service industry and never have I had a side conversation with an associate while I had a customer in front of me. Tonight I bought my alcohol and felt a lack of care and customer service given to me. My cashier checked my ID and asked if I wanted to pay for a bag and held an entire conversation with her fellow coworker while doing so. I felt like the cashier could care less that I was spending my money at this store and it really left a bad taste in my mouth as I left. I normally don't leave reviews but tonight was a special occasion. I would like a lesson to be learned here and I would like to give this business an opportunity to correct this issue before determining I will never return to this location. read more

There were 3 people in my party attempting to purchase alcohol. Ages were 53, 37, 29. The 37 year old did not have her wallet so they told us they couldn't sell to us and we should go down the road and leave the 37 year old in the car. Wow. I will never make any purchase here again. Good selection and good customer service. I would occasionally go to a store down the road, and they all acted like they were having pms every time lol. Im your typical customer and dont expect much, just to grab something off the shelf and pay.
