They stock their private lake once a week with 300 lbs of trout and We must say the fishing is awesome.. The limit on fish is 5 pp a day and you keep what you catch but apparently some folks don't follow rules but hey we keep outs and love eating them . If you have an issue at your cabin which we have only had 1 in 15 yrs and that was the heater they are on it . There are no phones no tv and we love it !!! The owners are very nice as their staff are . Cabins are very rustic and comfortable and a great place for kids . All bedding and cooking utensils are supplied and there is a grill at each cabin . Food was pretty good. Had a salad and added a chili relleno for $5. It was very well prepared, although the salad of mostly spring mix, a few cucumbers and tomatoes was not worth $14. Partner had a steak--said it was ok. "Seasonal vegetables" were just plain kernal corn. Giving this place three stars for food, but the historic charm is the real reason to give it a try. The restaurant was only open Thursday through Saturday in February, so check hours if you want to eat. You can also just stop by and take a look in the lobby and parts of the hotel. The staff doesn't mind.

Staff was great, both at desk, in adobe bar and housekeeping/maintenance. Only bummer was that Doc Martin, the onsite restaurant was only open days we already had plans. Note for weekday stays, check that restaurants are actually open before heading out on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday, even if recommended by front desk.

There were multiple maintenance and functionality issues. The ductless mini-split system was not working properly, and the wall-mounted thermostat did not control the heat or A/C. The ceiling vent appeared obstructed and poorly maintained, raising concerns about airflow and ventilation. I also noted that the smoke detector showed no visible indicator light at the time, making it unclear whether it was operational, which raised a safety concern. The room itself felt dated and not well maintained. There was a visible spiderweb and debris buildup on the window sill, and the window area overall showed a lack of cleaning and upkeep. Additionally, the wooden window blinds were damaged--specifically, the upper right blind is missing the center wooden control rod, so each slat had to be adjusted by hand. The blinds also catch on the window frame/sill, preventing smooth operation and full closure. Because the room was on the ground level with people walking by, this resulted in a lack of privacy that would reasonably be expected. The bathroom also showed wear, with deteriorating caulking and grout around the tub/shower. Basic amenities were lacking--there was no clock, mini fridge, or microwave, which made the stay less convenient than expected. Additionally, there was a mouse trap placed under the bed. While I understand pest control is sometimes necessary, its visible presence in the guest room raises concerns about cleanliness and overall room readiness. Most importantly, the condition of the room and lack of amenities did not align with the price paid. For the rate charged, I expected a higher standard of maintenance, cleanliness, and functionality. The experience felt significantly overpriced relative to what was provided. The property has charm and a strong location, but without better upkeep and attention to detail, it does not currently deliver value for the cost.

I was a little leery of this boutique transformation of the old Indian Hills Motel property, but we were just blown away by how nice Hotel Willa is; kudos to Casetta Hotels! Every employee was friendly in a genuine way; the grounds and rooms are _spotless_ and the vibe is just wonderful. It's easy to forget you're in town . . . but it's a quick walk to the Plaza and great restaurants once you step out front. Free parking. Quiet and totally efficient heating and cooling (we used both in April). Fantastic sleep (it's QUIET) on a remarkably comfortable bed. TV has a variety of music, Netflix, Prime in addition to a variety of programming. The onsite restaurant Juliette is more than just a bar - yes, everyone raves about the green chile cheeseburger, but do yourself a favor and go deeper into the (reasonably priced!) menu. Free coffee in the morning. Tons of places to sit and relax. Hammocks. Sling chairs. Benches. Rocks. Gorgeous and well maintained landscaping. Great pool (heated) and hot tub/jacuzzi, plus exercise room and sauna/cold plunge. (The one suggestion for improvement is that the rain shower spatters outside the shower room a bit.) We'll be back - we've stayed in several Taos properties and enjoyed them to various degrees, but we've never found a place that "clicked" for us as well as Willa.

When I turned on the lights I saw that the bed was covered by winged bugs, possibly flying ants or termites. I spent the next four hours collecting them and put them in a Ziplock bag to give to Antonia at the front desk. I have been up since 2:00am, and found it odd that she does not know how to contact the General Manager, Kim Craig. The property is very nice otherwise, but it is not acceptable to be expected to pay $262.59 for a bug-infested room. Fortunately, the management agreed and refunded the entire amount.
