My family and I stayed this past weekend on the premium waterfront sites. We stayed in site 269 which had a nice view of the lake and the fire pit was moved to the back of the site right by the water which was nice as the other sites has them farther back away from the water. I think they should move them all back towards the water so their guests can the best of both worlds with the lake view and a nice fire. The fire pits were really big and I'm concrete rings which made it hard to feel the heat from the fire unless you made the fire really big. My family camped a few sites down and their picnic table was falling apart and notified the maintenance man and he later came and removed it and brought a replacement. It would appear based off other reviews their picnic table maintenance is lacking. The campground was pet friendly and had bags and trash areas throughout the campground. They also have a dog park area to let your dog run if they need to stretch those legs. The playground for the kids was nice by the office. However, the playground closest to the pull thru sites was wooden and falling apart sadly. It needs immediate attention before next season before a child gets hurt. The boards were lifting and screws/nails exposed. However, they had a bounce pillow that our kids loved ! Paddleboats, gem mining, etc for a fee. Our toddlers did enjoy the gem mining though, so if you have a couple it's worth splitting a bigger bucket of gem goodies to mine. The bathhouses were not the best, could def be cleaner and consistently had out of order stalls. I opted to shower in our camper this time due to their condition but to each their own. They had for Oktoberfest a distillery and a band/dj come to the pavilion area which really seemed to draw a good crowd! They have golf carts for rent, which were pretty nice in comparison to others we have rented. However, we noticed a tire on our was noticeably lower than the others and thankfully had an air compressor to fill it up. I would imagine that should be done prior to renting them out to avoid flats.. it all worked out though but something to be mindful of if you rent one! You can fish the lakes and catch/release. We did see several people catch catfish and blue gills, etc so it's worth your time if you like to fish! They do have a lot of seasonal sites but everyone seemed friendly as they were preparing for Halloween events coming up and decorating their sites. The biggest downside to our visit was the beautiful lake view site had a LOT of road noise as just on the other side of the trees was the main road. It is something you will hear all night long. It was a bummer but some may not mind it. We are going to be returning in 3 weeks for trick or treating as we found a last minute reservation .. they look like they really do it up for Halloween. read more

My first review was shortly after we arrived and now two seasons an I have learned the beauty of the countryside does not offset the poor management and experiences we had over 2 seasons. The two seasons we spent here where a real lesson. We are terribly dissatisfied. The park is beautiful. The staff is rude, they don't return a greeting. The manager was Barb. Myself and my guests were always treated in terse, rude manner. There are a regular group of individuals which break about every rule they have in place and those are, and I Quote "the favorites " of the above mentioned manager. There was an issue where our dogs leash snapped and was briefly free an barking. Of course someone complained. I was told by the manager to lie low so she didn't have to play favorites. What an unprofessional an out of line thing to say to a patron. If that wasn't enough we constantly had a muddy sight from poor drainage. The lots are a constant mess if it rains, and it always rains a lot. This is a park that once they get your money they could careless about your stay. Our fire ring was a broken mess and we could not get them to help... the neighbors did help us. We had a huge rut from a previous patron that we asked to have filled. Again, no response so we fixed it ourselves. We asked to move to a site that the water didn't pool and that was not possible. Even though there are 800+ sites... only full on Holidays but, this could not happen. My husband is disabled and that is the main reason we requested a spot that was not so muddy, slippery and dangerous. read more

Pretty area. We drove from VA so drive was awesome and it's easy to get to. Until you get to front "gate". Narrow and sharp turn which is ridiculous. Friend actually dented side of truck with 5th wheel. Be careful. Front lake was disgusting. Would be easy for them to clean. Internet is horrible, but it's camping, so about what you'd expect. Pool was crowded, no chairs and this wasn't holiday weekend. Need another pool. Bathhouses were clean and nice, sites were gravel. Make sure you get a site on the outside with trees, sites in the middle have no trees. Nothing. Tons of kids with stuff for them to do. Felt very regional/ local. read more

This was the worst experience I have ever had camping. We always do a huge family aging trip which we end up booking multiple sites. Every site was paid in full before arrival. One family checked in and had to pay extra when they checked in while the others did not. Camp sites where not mowed and unpresentable. Picnic tables where falling apart and one was not even usable because the bolt rusted on the bench seats and the boards where falling off. The roads are full of potholes going back to the sites. The staff are extremely rude and ignorant. When I was on the gulf cart going up to pick up my family from the pool, the one staff member stepped out in front of me blockkng me from going to pick up my family who was standing by the office steps. Told me I had to go park in the grass. Anytime you left the camp ground we where one, they watched us like Hawks. We had visitors that came and went to get a visitors pass and was treated like crap in the office and they actually told our visitors they where being dishonest. The playground area is unsafe. The wood on the playsets are falling apart and splintering. I had to pull alot of splinters out of my childs hands and feet. In the guys and girls restrooms, toilets where make closed and some of the knobs where broken off in the shower rooms. The wifi is terrible. You can't even use your cellphone on the wifi, let alone trying to stream TV. The pool water is terrible. Its so filled with salt that when you get out your skin is extremely dry and your lips shrivel up. You have to pay to go fishing but yet their ponds are scummy. Driving around we noticed that one Campsite was completely under water and it hasn't rain enough for a site to be flooded, another site the freshwater connection was held down by raquet straps to keep it together, another site there was a pile of shale and a mini excavator sitting in the lot with campers there. There was a band at the pavillion and there was a moonshine tent and staff was at it doing taste testing. I feel that drinking on the job is inappropriate. We use to go once a year here for the last 25 years and since the new owners took over, we will no longer camper there. Overall our trip was more frustrating than enjoyable. They need to find new staff that are customer friendly and not tyrants. read more

since they have become part of a large corporation, it's a joke. Staff and management are awful. Our kids were targeted all weekend. A staff member threw trash and we were told to pick it up. The kids had gear stolen in the days we were there. We had to pay extra because we had 3 adults and 1 child, guess you can do that these days, anything to make a buck. the kids were told to go back to their camps while others were not. The kids were being accused of things they weren't doing. Staff goes around on check out day to make sure you're packing up. The camp rules given on the provided flyer differ from the website. I second the drainage issues that they have. When it rains it pools everywhere and you cannot leave your rv without a muddy mess. Very little gravel. Lots are very uneven. I also second the poor service. We decided to leave a day early due to the mess everywhere (around 3)and pulled down to the lake to let our dogs out and was immediately approached by staff letting us know that checkout was at 11am. To which we responded... yes, 11 am tomorrow. There were no apologies.... rude. Not recommended. read more

Stayed there last weekend. Internet service sucks. We called the office to see if it was a problem to check out an hour late as we wanted to do brunch at oak hurst tea room. The office said sure for 10.00 an hour over you can check out any time you like. Won't be back. Plenty of places to camp in that area read more

Never Ever stay at Pioneer Lakes Campground. We had just arrived and my kids went to the bounce pad to jump on it. One of them did a flip on it because we go to Jellystone and their you can do rolls or cartwheels on it. They were told not to do that and this crazy lady who is the manager of the park started swearing at my children and then I got involved real fast and she started to swear at me and threatened to kick the s**t out of me. I think I was just in shock over the entire situation. The one worker was even holding the manger back because she wanted to fight me I think. My children were crying and I was crying. we never got our money back or anything. What a waste.All because of the crazy and I mean crazy manager. Wow, she is scary. Please whatever you do, do not stay at this place. It was the most bazar and unprofessional establishment we ever went to. Needless to say we will never ever return. read more

There are hundreds of sites (most full service with cable) and a ton of seasonal and storage spots as well. Located just off of 31, it was easy to access from the PA Turnpike and there is plenty to do locally if you're into State Parks and nature. Somerset is just down the road as well. We ventured out to Kooser State Park and a couple of the other smaller ones but did spend a lot of time at the campground as well. They have clean playgrounds, fishing ponds/lakes, mini-golf, a fenced dog park, a game room, and plenty of room to ride bikes or walk around the grounds. Pros: Full service (mostly level) gravel sites with cable, fire rings and a picnic table; a lot to do for the kids; clean; nice supply/gift shop; firewood, propane, air available Cons: Sewage pipes are a little higher off the ground, so it was tricky draining the tanks; WiFi doesn't reach the farther sites; close to a couple of roads where we did hear quite a bit of jake-braking and Harleys but it wasn't deafening; sites are a little tight together I know the cons look to outweigh the pros here, but it really isn't that way. I would certainly stay here again and just prepare myself for the sewage issue. We had a great time and were glad that it was so clean (likely thanks to the large team of employees that are constantly driving around to pick up the trash and keep an eye on things. I stayed at pioneer park for a week in August. I must say the owner "Bill" was very rude. When spoken to he wouldn't even raise his head to acknowledge that I was talking to him! Very poor customer service coming from the owner! Also, my daughter stayed in cabin #2. The loveseat in the living area was filthy. It must be 40 years old and never cleaned. When lifting the rug in the living area it was very apparent that the dirt was swept under it instead of cleaned properly. And this is what you get for $175.00 a night! Very disappointed in this campground! read more

The campgrounds are lovely (the trees!) and well maintained. We pitched a tent and we're very comfortable. I am disappointed that in the midst of a pandemic there are ZERO stations for hand sanitizer in or just outside of the bathroom. Not a single person we saw wore a mask and the campgrounds were full, so if you want to social distance, be careful in the bathroom building- but our tent site had more than enough space to pitch our tent for two. Quiet hours start at 11 and when we went to bed at 10 there were loud children running next to our tent while their mom said nothing... So even though they were within the technical rules, be mindful that there are inconsiderate parents like there would be at any site. On a positive note, 30 seconds after my partner booked online, they called us to confirm and were friendly and helpful. I'd stay here again but ask for a more quiet location- there were lots of empty spots to our right. read more

Awful! Employees clueless and manager RUDE! $11 per day per person for fishing for anyone over 11 years old. So, if a family of 4 want to fish, you are in for almost $50. Crazy! Brochure stated amenities open till 8:00pm after Memorial day. We were there in June and everything closed by 6:00 or before. Pool closed for an entire day, even though it was sunny and hot by noon. When I spoke to manager about it, she rudely said it's up to them if they open amenities. Office closed at 4pm daily! Go someplace else! read more
