Well, Tom has a new license but has disconnected his two phone numbers and I've sent registered and return receipt letters to his addresses and they have been returned by the PO. He could be nice then turn and be rude. He refused to give a signed contract but did give a receipt that I thought would be binding. Before we hired him and Brian I made sure he had a bond and license. He kept saying I was just supposed to trust him. They did the work and the tankless works fine but when I did a call back on an issue I left several messages and when I didn't get a response I called Navien. When he finally came he kept saying to call him not the company and I told him that I did. Brian was supposed to take over the business but there is no way of getting ahold of either of them. Beware of any business that won't give you a signed contract up front and says just trust me. He was good...until he wasn't.

I have been using Springer plumbing for over 15 years, but it seems things have changed. It used to…read morebe a family business that cared about its customers but maybe those days are over. I made an appointment online (a huge mistake) to investigate draining my water heater and replacing the sacrificial anode rod. The first inkling that something was wrong was when I was not given an approximate arrival time. The day of service I used their chat feature (100% AI I'm sure) to try and narrow a time down and was told I'd get a call from the office about a time, but no one called. Then we called their office number (and again 100% AI I'm sure) we were again told we'd get a call from the office, but again, it never happened. This must be a common complaint because checking on arrival times is one of the numeric options when you get the menu. That menu option told me the visit would occur between 11 AM and 11 PM! Really? So disappointing. At 2:50 the technician called to give me a 25-minute heads up he was on his way. When he got here, he informed me that the cost to drain the water heater was over $1,000 and that that did not include the anode rod. I couldn't believe it. With an average lifespan of 8-12 years and almost 6 yrs already gone by, I didn't feel it was worth a $1,000 gamble that we'd be extending the lifespan of the heater. I declined the service. I think information about the cost of water heater flushing should have been shared with me before the appointment. Someone should have picked up the phone and warned me about the exorbitant cost of flushing a water heater. But maybe Springer is in a position where the $129 service fee is worth more to them than repeat business. If you make an appointment with Springer, call them (don't book online) and ask if they have any idea of the cost of your needed service before they come to you. Also, be prepared to remain a hostage in your home for the day.
