Had a little incident where the scrub head off of a toilet cleaning wand popped off, while I was cleaning and got stuck inside the toilet. So, I posted the job on Yelp where Carlos, with Rooter Tech was one of the first to respond. We were able to coordinate a convenient time for the following morning. Right on time Saturday morning we have two Rooter Tech, plumbers here and ready to go. After explaining the scrub head sucking, toilet situation and for asking to add a tank rebuild to the estimate/project, they got to work. It didn't take too long before they came back with a price that was fair, to do the work. Rooter Tech, was the third plumbing contractor we got an estimate from and it was worth it to hold out for the right people. I wouldn't suggest this company based on their lack of customer service alone. Made an appointment for Monday. I had to call them a couple of times to get eta. They eventually rolled my appointment to Tuesday. I had to call them to find out when they'd be coming. The plumber finally texted he was on the way and showed up 2 hours later. The plumber insisted he couldn't do some of the work because a gasket had been glued. I will jump right out the start and say Rooter Tech has to be your first call and only call for plumbing matters. I called Rooter Tech and spoke to Carlos (Owner) who was very polite and got us on his schedule the same day. Rooter Tech shows up and Carlos gives us his professional opinion on what the issue could be and what services they could provide to possibly fix the problem. The pricing he offered for the services was fair for the work they were going to do. Him and his team began the water jetting process through our main sewer line until another issue appeared. Carlos said that he needed to cut through our wall behind the washer in order to access the sewer line connection because the pipe has a connection turn that the jet could not get through and kept getting stuck. Long behold, he was right. The pipes had the incorrect connection that was done by some plumber and it was not properly done. He got it cut out and replaced with the correct pipe and also added a clean out access pipe for any future work. All that was done in about 2hrs including cleanup. Will definitely use Rooter Tech again for any future plumbing work as the quality of work, customer service and experience was definitely what we needed from a plumbing company. I can not say enough good things about this business. I am an older person who has owned a lot of older homes and have dealt with a lot of service professionals over the decades. I have a lot to compare to. Carlos (owner) knows his craft. My home is on the market (sale pending) and an independent inspection revealed some issues. Carlos was amazing at communicating before, during, and after. There were no hidden costs and his bid came in well below his competitors without any sacrifice in quality. He was very transparent in costs, explained options so I could understand, and answered all questions. Because my house is on the market, I had other people [outside of his business] scoping my sewer system so when I spoke to Carlos, I knew that what he proposed was honestly what needed to be done. There was no inflating the job. I've learned that short-term solutions done by homeowners often overlook bigger problems that emerge later. The completed work easily passed scrutiny by Pierce County inspector (required). Carlos' crew was great. They were respectful of me and my property. They laid several feet of sewer line to replace mine [damaged by tree roots] and when they were done you could barely see any signs that they had been there! This was a costly job, but the rate I was given was well below the norm in this area. Another thing that stood out for me was the amazing customer service. I am so tired of businesses that treat customers like they are doing you a favor. The service was provided quickly--important when you have a pending home sale. There were payment options for those who aren't selling their home and paying out of escrow. And as a side note, the older I get, the more characteristics like honesty, kindness, and work ethic matter to me. Carlos demonstrated all of this in our interactions. I had a major grease clog in my kitchen drain that was initially diagnosed and treated by another plumbing service only to find out there was still an issue after they told me they were certain this was the cause. After finding out their solution was not going to work, they charged me and told me I will need to schedule hydro jetting service but they weren't available to do it for another week but could recommend someone. Based on the many 5-star Yelp reviews,(Thanks, Yelpers!), I called Rooter Tech to evaluate a possible leak in our home's water line. Carlos Martinez, the owner, responded quickly, looked things over, and gave me an estimate. But while that description sounds overly quick and superficial, Mr. Martinez's evaluation and outline of the potential job was very detailed and comprehensive. His experience with external plumbing issues in 50-year old homes in Steilacoom is impressive, and he outlined the possible scenarios the job might entail. My wife and I gave "thumbs up" to the project, and Carlos scheduled a return in a couple of days. He and his team arrived on time, and got to work uncovering the problem area. We soon learned that our old galvanized water pipe was severely corroded, with major leaks in two places. (The only reason we didn't have a major spike in our water bill was the dense clay soil surrounding the pipe acted as a partial plug.) Carlos ran through our options, and the pros and cons of each. He suggested the best course of action was to replace the entire length of old galvanized pipe (about 30 feet) with PEX water line, and also recommended getting rid of the second water shutoff valve just in front of the house, as it was an unnecessary potential point of failure. He provided a revised estimate, and we agreed to replacing the old line. Carlos also offered to check out the sewer outflow pipe with his fiber optic camera, and ensure it was in good shape. This turned out to be a great idea, as while the pipe is relatively new PVC, there was a fist-sized hole in the top. We authorized this repair as well, since the cost would be half as the crew would already be doing the other job. Carlos and his crew covered the mini-trench and pile of dirt with plywood and tarps, and strung caution tape around the site. We scheduled the job to commence the following Tuesday. The mark of a true professional contractor is not only how they do the actual work, but just as important, how well they coordinate the necessary permitting, and marking the other underground utilities lines before digging. Carlos had all this taken care of quickly and efficiently. (I know most of the Town's Public Works crew, as a former Town employee, and they told me how much they appreciate working with Carlos, due to his professional skills and ethical standards!) Tuesday arrived, and a much larger crew arrived, again exactly on time. They got to work immediately, removing our lawn turf carefully, then digging with an excavator. During their work, they unearthed about 50 pounds of discarded metal piping, which we suspect may have been dumped and then buried by the home builder in 1976. As promised, Carlos had the section of the sewer line uncovered, the damage photographed (caused a few years ago when we had the front yard landscaped; a vehicle had driven over the spot, which pushed a large rock into the pipe, breaking a hole.), and then repaired the line. This evidence was crucial for supporting a homeowners insurance claim, and yet another check mark in Rooter Tech's "Plus" column. The project was completed the same day, with exceptional attention to detail, signed off by the Town's inspector, and at a very reasonable cost. I strongly recommend Rooter Tech for any similar plumbing project! I called over 10 different companies and had three different guys came over, but this guy Junior I had good vibes and he gave reasonable price (compared to other companies gave me quote of $2,950+ plus taxes). They came in the morning with an estimate, and then immediately started working on it same day, took out broken water heater, brought everything up to code (it wasn't up to code prior before) and it's all good now with brand new water heater! I have to say I came to yelp to find a plumber I can trust. I found Rooter Tech and gave them a call immediately. Next day Carlos came out and looked at my guest bathroom sink because it was leaking. As I feared it was because the original piping was done wrong. Once he quoted me I told him I had to coordinate with my spouse and see if we could do the work. 20 minutes later I called Carlos with the go ahead and to my surprise he returned to do the work same day. 25 minutes after arriving all the work was done. Now a few days later my husband noticed water still leaking a little. After calling Carlos I knew it wasn't from the work he did. My outdoor faucet was not attached properly. Also, a series of small pipes in the crawlspace that attached to the faucet were not affixed to anything solid. The people who showed up to fix the situation were nice, knowledgeable, stayed in good humor, and kept the place clean. They wore protective blue booties when they came inside the house. They replaced the faucet and screwed it into the siding better. I have not seen the work they did in the crawlspace yet, but the faucet is very stable now and is working well. As for the quote, I was quoted $750 on-site. I told one of the workers that was too steep. He asked me what price I thought was fair and I said $500.
