For the location of the place, it's a great value! There's a few picnic tables that is right in front. My kids love their fries here and I do as well. They have soft serve ice cream. Probably one of the cheapest in the area. Plus if you Yelp Check In, you will get a % off on your bill. Thats their promo! That helps! Service is prompt. Going to the beach is fun, but not when looking for inexpensive places other than fast food chains. My friend and I spent about an hour walking around the area til we settled on here. They have a menu with the usual you'd find at a snack bar. Burgers, sandwiches, fries, ice cream, things like that. I got the chicken tenders with fries and a banana split to share. Total was 10$. My only complaint was the wait. Yep, I know it takes a while to cook, but by the time I had received it and went to eat my half of the split, the ice cream was melted. Maybe they should serve the ice cream after the food is cooked for the order? Just an idea. The food tasted great however! And it was pretty filling for the price. I have been going to pipeline for the last 35 years. I went as a kid and now take my own kids. Tonight I had the worst experience ever. I took 6 kids for ice cream, along with myself. I ordered a double scoop of mint chip and the young kid with no clue returned with a double scoop of something that wasn't mint chip. He said, " here is our mint chip, it's just not dyed ". I looked at him hesitantly and took a bite; it was butter pecan. He returned to the window and I told him to please make me a new cone with mint chip. He walked away, came back and said that's our mint chip sorry. Go's bless our future. I think I'll be going to Handels from now on. read more

The perfect soft served cone. Icy texture of soft serve covered in soft crumbles of oreo cookie all for a reasonable beach location-inflated price of $2.50 near the Newport pier. Lightly sweet and infused with vanilla, this soft serve beats all other soft serves you may have tried before (Ikea's is too soft and melts too fast, McDonald's is the same way). I haven't tried the other items though, but their prices are cheaper than the other places that offer beach junk food (chili cheese fries, nachos, frozen banana etc.) read more

This place is the worst. My boyfriend and I wanted ice cream and we saw a kid get soft serve. It looked amazing so we ordered vanilla soft serve ice cream in a cup with rainbow sprinkles. We get it and I notice that there are peanuts on the top of the ice cream (mixed in with the sprinkles). My boyfriend is VERY allergic to peanuts so I take a bite of the ice cream first and immediately bite into a peanut!!!!!!!!!!! Thank god I ate it first or my boyfriends throat could have swollen up. We take the ice cream back and my boyfriend tells the guy that there is peanuts and that he is highly allergic. The guy tells us that all of the toppings get mixed with each other so there is probably peanuts in all of the toppings!!!!!!!!!!!!! We told the guy how wrong that was and he gave us a new ice cream cup with WAY less ice cream. I guess he thought we were annoying???? Be careful of this place if you are allergic to nuts! read more

Super reasonable prices (especially for an establishment right on the beach). I got the chicken sandwich (with green chili on the side) with light mayo and no tomatoes. I also got a side order of fries and later returned for a chocolate soft serve in a cone. The chicken was delicious and I regret not having pipeline put their green chili on it (now I know not to ask it on the side). The fries were good (freshly cooked and not stale or hard like other establishments). And the ice cream was quite good as well. I think I spent about $11 for everything. If you're around or at Newps and want some good take out, stop by at Pipeline's!! It won't burn a hole in your pocket either (; Ps- to those complaining that this place has horrible shaved ice... Hey! They have REALLY good shoe-string crispy french fries! Hunnie Bunnie and I need some food. Well, I needed some food. She wasn't quite hungry yet. I ordered a cheeseburger and some fries with a side of cheese sauce. My burger came with thousand island dressing, tomato, pickle, and lettuce and cheese. It was good. The fries were plentiful, dumped all in the brown paper bag with a side of cheese sauce I wanted. The fries were so crispy and golden and delicious! Nom nom nom! After spending two hours on the beach, any sane human being would start craving something cool and sweet. This ice cream store is in a great location just behind life guard station 20 and faces the beach. I personally had the small soft serve vanilla cone, which was good, nothing extraordinary, but just good ice cream. My sister ordered a root beer float and was pleased with that as well. Don't second look this place! Their hamburgers are delicious. Their menu doesn't tell you there are combos but you can make it a combo for $5 more of the original price. When I went if you bought a combo you get a free kids icecream- which is soooo delicious also. I was intending on using the 20% off deal used if you check in, I let the employee see and he said yea you got it, but when I paid it was not 20% off it was most definitely full price. This place was cute and it made a decent Balboa Bar. I would go back. It's right next to the Newport Beach Pier, so you can't beat the location. The girl who made my bar was super nice and helpful. Real Hawaiian shave ice?!?! I think not!!! What they serve is a snow cone! Shave ice is not made with ice cubes. Shave ice is not hard bits of ice. A real shave ice is made from one block of ice spun around while blades shave fine, melt in your mouth shards of ice. Here's my experience at Pipeline. You have to walk past the public restrooms to locate it. It faces the beach, with quite a few benches and tables across from it. It is the cheapest eat you will find. Cheeseburgers are $4.50 , onion rings and fries are about $3. Burgers are ok, but onion rings are generously portioned and yummy! I had just spent the day at this beach with my family, and we were hungry. I saw a hot dog/corn dog place about a block from where we were. My wife and I were unenthused about the option but headed towards it none the less. I see what looks to be a surf shop out of the corner of my eye, and it advertises burgers, snacks... Well she perked up, and we headed for the store front. That's when I noticed they had food from our corner of the world. What's this, a N.M. green chili burger? The owner was born in my home town. Bizarre? Yes! Delicious? Yes! I walked away with food and drinks for three at around $16.00. We were all satisfied, and enjoyed the friendly customer service. Love the food and ice cream, however, I was standing outside with many other customers waiting to order, and you could hear an aggressive manager in the back, cussing out and yelling at his employees. Saying he was "Fucking sick of the drama, and a lot of things being said in the workplace." Don't think he realized how much his voice carried to outside Pipeline...where a good dozen of people could hear about how much gossip and drama is going on in the workplace. This was our "go to" place while on vacation a week in Newport Beach. When you are planning to be on the beach all day you don't necessarily want to deal with waiting for a table in a restaurant. They only have a walk up window and have your food ready in about 7-10 minutes. My family LOVED the chili cheese fries. Both chicken sandwiches are very good too. It was a triple cheese with everything on it including real live ligite New Mexico green chili. The flavor was amazing. The crust from the griddle on the patties was perfect.
