Stopped in today to get my coffee fix, and I think I've found my new go-to spot whenever I'm in the area. I tried one of the barista's recommendations, and it did not disappoint. It wasn't overly sweet, which I really appreciated. I also love that they offer gelato, açaí bowls, tea, and smoothies--such a great variety. Emma mentioned they carry ceremonial-grade matcha and said it's a must try, so needless to say, I'll definitely be back for that. Perfectly located right next to the Newport Beach pier. There is a little bit of a hustle and bustle in this coffee shop and I have to think it's more tourist than locals, maybe not ? Either way it has some appeal and worth a stop so you can pass judgment for yourself. I rate it a 5 for convenience, service and proximity but because I value good coffee so much I have to rate the overall experience a 3 because the quality of the Coffee was just not there- I had a double shot latte and it seemed weak to me and had more of a watered down taste; I had two or 3 sips and threw it away . if you want superior coffee then walk a mile to Lido and visit Herst Coffee!! read more

Let's start by stating, this is one of those spots you go to when the vibes are already high, you're enjoying the beach and walk in wearing your bathing suit, a little cover up, and definitely covered in sand and probably a little sunburnt! It's located at the Newport/Balboa pier by the surfer statue, the interior is tight but manageable as the drinks come out pretty quickly. There's plenty of tables set outside to be shared amongst the other small food spots around. I visited on a Saturday morning after taking a walk up and down the pier with my pup. The line was a few folks out the door but I was at the counter ordering within a few minutes. The menu is straight and to the point, prices are what you'd expect from any coffee shop in the OC (I would think the baseline is $6-$8 per drink) They also offer smoothies and açaí bowls as well. I see that they had an açaí smoothie on the menu and was intrigued! Once I received my smoothie, I could tell just by visuals it was a premade frozen açaí blend of some sort that was re-blended. It tasted pretty close to the single serve frozen açaí pouches you can buy at Costco. And speaking of, the consistency was exactly like your Costco berry smoothie (and dare I say.. even the taste? lol) except of course the Costco smoothie is only $3. It wasn't great. It wasn't bad. It wasn't cheap ($8) but, it was a cold drink on a hot day that was artificially sweet and went down easy. And also, served by the nicest staff!! Matcha so delicious, I had it two days in a row! What a cute coffee spot. Definitely can tell this is a favorite of the locals for sure as it seemed like there were a lot of regulars there. They have a little bit of seating inside, but outside there's more seating available. I loved that they had a wall of poloroids of dogs that come in haha. And you can tell the staff LOVES dogs. A man walked in with a husky puppy and they all stopped to say hi ahha it was so cute. We walked down from our Airbnb when we were on vacation this past weekend. The girl helping us was really nice. They had a variety of teas and my husband loves tea so he got the peach tea. It was sooo good! I ordered the matcha and that was delicious! WOW! I literally had to have it two days in a row because it was soooo good. Such a cute coffee shop to grab coffee and go walk down the pier, which is what we did. It was perfect. Good Lattes and matcha. I got a latte with almond milk and my husband got an iced matcha with coconut milk and asked for it to not be too sweet. We both loved our drinks and really enjoyed them. I had mine with a maple donut from the donut shop nearby. Service was friendly and I found her super helpful with us and everyone else. I do think that during their busy periods they should either ask for your name or assign numbers. I accidentally grabbed someone else's drink then someone accidentally grabbed my drink. The menu is not super extensive so it is highly like that there are multiple of the same orders and that makes it kind of confusing. There is very little seating to enjoy your drink but you can definitely find a bench somewhere along the beach of course. read more

The coffee is actually pretty decent, but unfortunately the customer service really took away from the experience. The woman with bangs who was working was not friendly or welcoming at all. This is often one of people's first stops of the day, so a warm greeting and friendly attitude really make a difference. Good coffee is important, but so is the experience that comes with it. I hope management takes the feedback seriously because the potential is definitely there. read more

Walked in at around 6:45 after a morning beach jog! The place is nice with seating inside and outside! The girl who took my order was so sweet and gave great customer service! I got a drink off the gal menu! The cinnamon roll cold brew basically a cold brew with a cold foam! Well I enjoyed it! The cold foam was great! I always like a cold foam that isn't too thin or too thick and this one was just right! The iced americano is also great just black! This place always has a line. I never think they are friendly but I do like their coffees. They usually have a list of specials but you can't see it until you up to the register. I finally made it down to Newport Coffee Company, and it was worth the wait! This small but adorable store is a gem in an area I adore, having grown up visiting Balboa frequently. The ambiance is inviting, and they even offer some fun merchandise. I decided to try one of their featured drinks--the Samoa latte. While it was a bit sweet for my taste, the quality of the coffee was impressive. The staff was incredibly friendly and seemed to genuinely enjoy working together, which added to the pleasant atmosphere. Their menu includes other intriguing Girl Scout-themed drinks like the Thin Mint and Tagalong. I appreciate their variety of milk options, and next time, I plan to try something with macadamia nut or coconut milk, reminiscent of a delightful macadamia nut latte I once had in Hawaii. Really friendly service I feel bad leaving a poor review but the matcha had no matcha flavor. My friends latte was even paler than mine. I got the maple matcha latte with almond milk and we agreed it was like drinking iced milk because there was no matcha or maple flavor. I've noticed a lot of comments on here from people complaining about service. I'm not sure how because my family and I have been regulars for the past 5-6 years and have never had a negative encounter. The service is always great, the baristas are always super friendly and take the time to chat with customers. They even remember the names of their customers dogs when they come in! It just seems like the negative reviews on here are harping on the service, but I don't understand how you can expect someone to jump for joy when you go into their facility if you aren't willing to bring the same energy. Regardless of them being in their place of work, don't expect what you don't give yourself. Sorry if it's a hot take! Side note, the coffees great. The beans they use have great flavor and if you want something stronger, get an extra shot. If you don't know how to order a coffee just say that. Their product is exceptional and I'd consider myself a coffee snob. If you're going into a place with great product and ordering something that's predominantly sugar and you don't like it, that's more of a user error.   It's not Starbucks. Order a real coffee and you'll get a real coffee. All and all, I've never had a bad experience here and coffee is incredible. Love the team and the coffee just the same. Hope this helps! read more

The best Sundays include a combination of the Newport Beach Farmers Market and Newport Coffee. This local farmers market has easily become a weekly tradition. It sits pier side every Sunday in Newport from 9am-2pm. I love to start the morning with a drink from Newport Coffee, browse local produce, and a beach walk. My most recent drink order was a hazelnut latte with oat milk. Their coffee is served strong and not over powered by milk and flavoring. The inside has a few seats available, but this cafe is really meant for to-go orders. They also have a wide assortment of beautiful baked goods. It was solid--smooth and not overly sweet, which I liked. My business partner got a classic iced drip coffee and it was gone in a few seconds, so no complaints there. That said, while the drinks were good, it was nothing crazy or unforgettable in my opinion. I may not have ordered the thing everyone raves about, but for me it felt pretty standard overall. It's not even good. It's the only coffee shop on the pier, it has a variety of items, but it's not good coffee. The girls who work there are literally eating while making your drink/food hahaha like cmon?? I literally saw her put food in her mouth, then took my order, then make my food. No washing hands.
