I am from the NY city and I really have to say that I have never had a calzone outside the city as good as this. While away on business, I stumbled upon this hidden gem- TJ's. I ordered an eggplant calzone with a side of meatballs/parmigiana. Amazing! I required no food until the next night when I ordered eggplant parmigiana and ziti----Amazing again. Just finished eating and totally blown away from this place. The staff is courteous, the food is fresh and hot & tastes awesome! Thanks guys for a great experience. Seriously amazing pizza. Like out of the ordinary good. Ordered a large veggie with extra cheese. The pie weighed like 10 pounds. I was certain the crust would be soggy but it's crispy and perfect. Decent pizza spot in Poughkeepsie. We had a large pie and tried the eggplant parm as well. The pie was a little underdone but the dough was fluffy but crunchy. Sauce on the sweeter side. A loottttt of genorisity with the toppings but I'm a mushroom snob and the mushrooms not being fresh disappointed. Eggplant parm portion was enormous and was pretty good, thinly sliced and well breaded. No major complaints but not our favorite pizza spot. read more

I recently visited TJ's Pizza and was quite disappointed with the experience. Upon ordering two slices, I noticed that they were smaller than expected, especially considering the growing competition in the area. When I voiced this observation, the response from who I assume was the owner was unexpectedly unprofessional; he stated, "I've been here 50 fu....years and I'm not changing nothing." This interaction left a negative impression, as I had been a loyal customer for a long time. Unfortunately, the quality and service did not meet my expectations this time, and it has led me to reconsider my future visits. I hope that TJ's Pizza takes customer feedback into account to improve their offerings and maintain the support of their patrons. This is a hometown favorite for me. It is one of those nostalgic spots that reminds me of growing up in the area and walking over to get a slice of pizza. The pizza is good, just good. I wouldn't say it is the best pizza in Poughkeepsie, but it is good pizza. They also have hot and cold subs that are a pretty decent price. My favorite is the chicken parmesan sub which has soft, fresh bread with plenty of breaded chicken and gooey cheese. It is enough to share with someone and still be full. I often bring home two subs and share with the rest of my family. They also always have a variety of cake slices (and other baked goodies). I've never tried any, but I've heard good things about them. I recommend if you want a traditional slice of pizza experience and nothing fancy. read more

Overall the slice just seemed to use low quality ingredients. The sauce was of the dark red and slightly sweet variety. The dough was ok but the slice was thin and unsubstantial.
