I had the unfortunate experience of mistaking rolling over a deer's body part. There was some blood and hair on my passage's side door. I looked for the closest car wash in the area near my boyfriend's place in Bowie and discovered this place. I also discovered they had a deal on Groupon. Pretty much getting 2 car washes for the price of one. I pulled up, showed my Groupon, and got the wash. Because they towel dry the car, I was confident that they would be sure to wipe away whatever the wash wipers missed. Sadly, they didn't. I still saw some deer hair and blood on the bottom. They have the potential to be great but they need to be more thorough with there service. I still have a voucher to use so I guess they have one more chance to win me as a customer. read more

I've been going to this brushless car wash for a couple of years now and it serves its purpose. I take pride in my car, so I use to wash my car myself all the time, but washing it in the winter after the county has dumped a ton of salt on the roads, just didn't seem to be the answer. Located in Glendale, next to the Lambert's restaurant, the unlimited car wash charges $29 a month for the basic membership. It use to be $25, but they've gone up in price in the last year. When attempting to enter, remember to make the turn after you actually see the car wash (when coming from Greenbelt Road) or make the turn before you get to the car wash (if you're coming from Lanham-Severn Road) because the exit of the car wash is one way. Plus, since the line forms on the hill, you would be cutting line if you entered the wrong way and I've seen many a fight with people who attempted to cut line. They do an ok job at washing my car, clearly I could do a much better job, but it will suffice. After you check in with the attendant, you go through the car wash line and a few employees dry your car at the end. I NEVER get a good wipe down on my car. It's always left with dripping water and portions of the car that hasn't even been touched. They have vacuums available for you to use for free or you can get your car detailed by the staff. In my opinion, the staff doesn't go above and beyond and they aren't that friendly, but from the other reviews I'm seeing, they must improve when they're getting new clientele. I guess the "OG's" that have been coming here for a few years doesn't get treated this way. Well, at least me and a few others I know that frequent this car wash. I come through Pirates often enough and have been for years. It can be hit or miss, but it does the job. I usually use Groupon for deals when I can but I think I've maxed that out. Lately I've grown to like vacuuming there myself while I'm there. I used to never use their vacuum and would go home to do that. But their vacuum's are pretty strong (as you would expect from a car wash vacuum. However, the past 2 times I was there only 1 of the vacuum's was working. 2 were available (there used to be 3), but one of them has little to no suction. Lately I've been through there to get the salt off my car laid down in preparation for these snow & ice storms. Most trips I come home and do some spot clean up either to the rims (on one car are the rims on my Honda are black so......who cares), or to wipe down some of the water that wasn't dried off, or wiping the mirrors. I do like that I get an air freshener (with the wash I like the most)! I like the black ice. If you want a full-service wash, vacuum, etc. you can go down the street. But Pirates usually does the trick for me. AND, I don't have to get out of my car. read more

I was going to this car wash for the last couple of years and had a automatic payment plan. When Covid hit, I cancelled one of my car services and only had one car on my plan. Due to Covid, this place was closed which is understandable. I noticed my statement which they added an additional car service on my plan without my consent! I contact the manager and he removed it but without returned of funds. I asked for proof and the manager stopped all communication with me. They are also taking out automatic payments twice a month instead of once a month. I sent another email regarding this situation and I am cancelling my service with these people. They do not have a standard day to charge you which they did prior to Covid. I do not know if they changed management, however BUYERS BE AWARE!! CHECK YOUR STATEMENTS!!! I bought a groupon deal for a car wash, only bought it for the convenience factor (as it is close to my job). For the amount I paid for the groupon and the service rendered, I am extremely unsatisfied. The whole process took 3 minutes. In the groupon it states interior detailing/cleaning. The inside of my car looks exactly as when I took it in. I could have cleaned my car myself and saved myself the money. To further add to my dissatisfaction, the person who cleaned my car also snubbed the change I had laying in my cup holder, which is stealing and unprofessional. I'm a guy who takes care of his car. Do you like relatively painless car wash experiences? WIth a nice looking car at the end? Have you already tried countless car washes only to encounter disappointment? Go here. I feel obliged to write this review based on negative reviews dragging this place down, where Pirates Car Wash has always given me quality service and performance. I'm giving it five stars because this is honestly the best car wash I've ever visited. Most car washes either treat me or my car like garbage. Better off washing it myself, usually. I really like PCW. This is the only car wash in Maryland that I've found (after searching and cross-referencing multiple sites, visiting multiple underwhelming locations) that I really enjoy. I recommend going on weekdays if possible, preferably early in the day, to avoid the wait of multiple vehicles. That's true for pretty much any car wash. You start by paying (in a drive-thru), going through a standard brushless car wash, and perhaps if you went for a lower level plan, you wait for a couple folks to dry your car and you're done. You can drive around back for some self-serve vacuuming if desired. But there's also a lot of plans and flexibility in your options when you visit. Check out each option to see what's best for you. I tend to get Combo A because it offers an awesome, complete package (all kinds of interior/exterior cleaning) that really makes my car look and feel great. I patronized this location for the first time, as I happened to notice it while driving by. Now, this car wash is slightly different from the many others I have been to, as you must drive your own car through the tunnel. So, taking into consideration, that I have never done this before I had no idea that I was supposed to place my car in neutral and release the brake, in order for the vehicle to move through the tunnel. Additionally, none of the employees bothered to explain this process to me. Well, seeing as though, I did not not put my car in neutral or release the brake, the track bypassed my car. So, one of the employees began yelling at me, then proceeded to call me stupid. I couldn't have been more bothered by this, as his response was more than inappropriate. I would not recommend anyone patronize this location. The mgmt. team should reconsider training the employees to provide clear and concise instructions to patrons, in order to avoid damage to vehicles and/or equipment. read more

The quality of the car wash has steadily went down over the 3yrs and the workers attitude has gone down with it! They half ass dry your vehicle on a regular and if you go there on the weekend ( which I try to avoid) forget about it you'll get a better dry driving home..it was so bad today, one side of my truck was so spotty (water spots) I had 2 pull over and dry it myself and spray the windows down to get rid of it..Keep in mind I have a monthly pass (but not for long) I'll be taking my business down the street to the other car wash, they are busier for a reason apparently but you know how that saying goes.. We got Groupons for our two cars, the most inclusive package, which includes exterior wash, and vacuum and cleaning of the inside. The exterior wash was whatever -- I don't really know how to rate a drive-through wash. The experience with the interior cleaning is the source of the 2 star review. You have to get out of the car, of course, but they don't have anywhere for you to go... no warm, inside waiting area... not even a park bench. Plus, they did a pretty lousy job on the insides of both cars. The consoles, cup holders, and dash were untouched. As a guy who pretty much loves his car, I'm not a big fan of auto washes in general- nothing beats washing your car by hand- easier on the paint too. Think about it, all that dirt from thousands of cars is on those 'touchless' spin brushes- I am not of the opinion that you can get a really good clean from them. Having said that, of all of the auto wash places in the area, I prefer these guys. Yes, their lot leaves a lot to be desired as its usually cramped if there's more than two cars in the line up; if you've never been before it may not seem obvious that you need to drive back around to get the interior vacuumed (saw one reviewer complain that they don't vacuum- they do, but they can't do it if you don't drive back around to where the vacs are) and detailed. As I've gotten older, I find I have less time for things like washing and detailing cars- so I bring my cars here. If they don't do a great job the first time, they'll actually let you go through again. Most places would just say oh well, sorry, maybe next time but these guys believe in and practice good customer service. I don't make use of the wash plans they have, although I should- for the money you just can't beat the deals! If you visit them just twice, the monthly plan would've already paid for itself and you could go every day if you were so inclined. How can you beat that? Yea, they had a small price increase of $4 a month but seriously- for $29 you could have your car washed EVERY DAY. There's nowhere else you can do it that cheaply, not even at home once you factor in things like soap, water, towels (and laundering them) detailing and not to mention, the most precious commodity- TIME. Mine doesn't come cheap and is better spent in other pursuits than soaping down/detailing and waxing my rides- so I pay these guys to do it. read more

After neglecting my car for almost 2 yrs I made an appointment to have the interior and exterior detailed. First appointment was postponed due to weather. "Jay" contacted me the next day to set a new appointment. My car was finished just under 3 hours. The staff had me look my car over to ensure I was satisfied with the service. They removed all the tar, bugs and grime from the front of my car and the whole car has a great shine once again. I will definitely have my car detailed at Pirates Car Wash again. I would have rated them 5-stars if the scheduling process was better. You have to submit your detail appointment request online then wait for someone to contact you with confirmation or available appointment dates/times. I bought a groupon and thought this is cool I can have someone get all the little trash out of the corners so I don't have to...I got my car back and I saw it shining down the street. I've been a loyal customer for a year. I'm charged monthly for services there I go often. They use to be good but today i honestly had enough. Today, i witnessed the staff wipe down there signs and then use the same cloth and wipe down someone car. Literally sign to car. I was extremely disappointed with this car wash. I bought a Groupon deal. Firstly the employees were aggressive, impatient and not at all polite. One of the attendants told me to put the car in Neutral and was very aggravated when I took too long to do so. Then the people who were to clean the inside of my car did a poor job, I had to ask for a rag to clean the door panel (which they said they don't do), the back of the seats, the opening of the door and the rear bumper. Self serve vacuums often aren't fully functional and have cars parked in spots needed to access the equipment . I had a Groupon deal. They did a good job on the detail. I've never had a detail before, so I was pleased. Some stains are still present, but the stains in my seats have been there for a while. It took right around 3 hours for an inside and outside detail. The only downside is that they do not have a place for you to wait. They suggest that you go to a nearby diner, but there is a shopping center across the street with a McDonald's that has Wi-Fi so I hung out there. I purchased a Groupon deal for Pirates Car Wash this fall. I have never had my 9 year old car detailed and with my two kids the thing was honestly just a mess. I figured for $79 if I could get someone to clean the inside and outside it was not a waste of money. I had an expectation that the car would be clean but I had no idea that it would look just like it did when I drove it off of the lot 9 years ago. Everything was shiny and clean. The floors were free of the many stains from over the years. They found things in the car that had disappeared years before. In a sentence, they rock! I called all of my friends and family. That should tell you how impressed I was. In addition, they gave me a discount card to go back again. I will be back. I recently purchased an SUV and it happens to be black. Knowing I would need to get it washed more often then my other SUV (GREY). I decided to search for a car wash that offers a discounted membership program. My friend suggested this car wash, so I purchased a Groupon to check it out. The Groupon was $28 for two washes, but I gave the second one away. I WILL NEVER RETURN AGAIN!!! 1. Getting in the RIGHT Line is ridiculous. Waited only a few minutes after selecting the type of wash. 2. Two lines one for wash one for vacuum. No direction given for first timers. 3. Quality of wipe down after car wash was terrible. One of the technicians was too short to reach the wiper so she didn't bother and the guy didn't help her. 4. Then I got in vacuum line which took 15 minutes. They missed a lot of spots which I had to point out. They never opened the back Hatch door to wipe door jam. Windows were streaky. Tire Shine faded within a few hours. I will be taking my car to a another car wash in the morning. I hear the one on New Hampshire Ave in Takoma Park does a little better job, but the wait is a little longer. I like many of you learned of Pirates Carwash through "Groupon". Unfortunately, my experience was UNsatisfactory. Customer Service, honor and Integrity are non existence at this establishment. That's from the top to the bottom including the cashier making the transactions. My experience started out pleasant until they damaged my vehicle. They agreed to repair it, then all of a sudden decided that they would NOT. BEWARE!!!!!!! My vehicle which is very well kept, in EXCELLENT condition was damaged. The front driver's seat was damaged by one of the vacuum hoses, not once, but twice. Each time I took pictures and contacted the cashier, the assistant manager and manager. The assistant manager took me across the street to Al's Shop to have the damage looked at and agreed to have it the seat dyed where the TEAR in the leather was very EVIDENT. I felt it was in my best interest to obtain an estimate from a reputable repair shop, one that specializes in upholstery repair -- so I did. Once I did that and provided the estimate to Pirates, they ignored my calls and flat out refused to address the issue -- YES! Even after agreeing verbally that they were at fault and taking me across the street to have the damaged assessed -- PROMISING to have it taken care of. This was totally disappointing to say the least. When I returned to the carwash asking why no one would return my calls or e-mails, I was flat out told that they changed their mind about the repair and was sorry that they every admitted to damaging my vehicle. I was in absolute shock and disbelief!!!!! The damage to my vehicle was caused by Pirates and acknowledged by the cashier, the assistant manager and the manager -- they sent me across the street to Al's to have it looked at and even offered to have it repaired. When I decided to get an estimate of the damage from a reputable dealer the assistant manager flat out told me that he would NOT repair the damage. I was so disgusted and in complete and total shock at the way they chose to do business. I vowed NEVER EVER to return there to have my vehicle washed and vowed that I would share my experience with others so they could be on the look out for the lack of integrity and dishonor exhibited by this establishment. At first glance this car wash seems a bit low quality with a very short car wash, no blinking lights in the drive thru and so I only went a couple of times. There are three car wash businesses within a 9 mile radius of me that I use on a regular basis and having used all three for many years I've come to appreciate the Pirate Car Wash the most. So I went a couple of times and decided to purchase the unlimited premium service for $45 a month. Even with this service my first couple of washes were less than acceptable; wheels slick with tire dressing and dirty with brake dust and the interior not well cleaned; especially the drink holder and ashtray area. But after I mentioned it to one of the managers, my wheels are now always cleaned without mentioning it again. Minus the ashtray area, the interior job is excellent. This car wash vacuums my trunk without complaint or explanation as to why they're not allowed to do so. I will continue to use the car wash to handle my weekly wash. Overall the monthly purchase is a really great deal if you wash your car more than twice a month. read more

An employee was caught stealing from my car today and management was very nonchalant about the whole situation. Which says to me that they either allow their employees to do it or they are complacent with stealing. Now I understand management can't watch everything their employees do. I have been going to Pirates Car Wash for many years and pay $45 per month for unlimited service. They swindled me yesterday though and charged $25.00 for a 1-time wash. I called them to resolve the issue but you can't even reach a person or leave a message. So I went in today to ask how they prefer to resolve this. "Jay" preferred to argue about it instead of discussing a creative solution or refunding the $25. I even have 1700+ reward points - but guess what they're good for? Nothing. They stopped offering interior detailing and you can't even use the points for a lousy car wash! Do yourself a favor - don't give them your business.
