Happily surprised! We went here because we were planning on another locations but couldn't go because of construction. There were two courses to choose from. We were with a 9 year old and he chose the easier course. We did all 18 holes within an hour. It was a warm day so we were glad to see drink machines on our way out. This was our only mini-golf outing in OOB & I was impressed. The course wasn't too challenging but enough for our family to enjoy. Out of our party 3 of us had holes in 1 which was cool. They do have 2 separate courses which wind together so we switched halfway since it was getting congested but didn't really notice a change in the level of difficulty. I'd recommend Pirates Cove to everyone to check out if you're in OOB. It's not even that far a walk from the downtown area & it's a laid back alternative to the usual beach scene. read more

This was so much fun! You can't REALLY fault the course for slow people in front of you, can you? There was a back up of at least 4 groups (couldn't really see further because it curved a lot). Also can't blame them for a horrible child who ran around while people were playing... The staff were friendly when we paid and helpful because we were a bit confused. Why is the water blue? One of the nicest mini golf courses I've ever been to. Very well maintained. Pirates cove offers two 18 hole courses. I had the chance to play the more challenging of the two and it did not disappoint. The price was on the higher side but I would definitely go back there in the future. read more

Big fan. I'm a huge mini golfer and try to play whenever I go on a trip and this place was pretty fun. There are two courses, one a bit harder than the other but the "greens" are nice and they aren't made up of a completely cheap material. There are some challenging courses and some easier but the place has a number of fun obstacles/challenges that will make it fun. A must try if you are going to mini golf. read more

We liked that it wasn't just putting -- there were some waterfalls, caves, hills, and hazards! The place was pretty full but the golf moved right along. Excellent mini golf course! There are two levels of difficulty; we did the lower one. It was attainable but not too easy. We had fun, and it's in a great location. We stayed at an oceanfront place in OOB and this was within walking distance. One HUGE criticism: The staff do not enforce the "no more than 4 people per game" rule. And this causes a problem. We (my boyfriend and I) got stuck behind 2 parties of 6+ people. Not only was the rule not enforced but these people were not considerate enough to split off into groups of 3 each to keep things moving along...nor did they let us go ahead of them...but that's another story. Anyway, most of our time at Pirate's Island was spent waiting...and waiting....and waiting. There was another couple behind us who were also visibly annoyed. I mean, it's not like we were in a rush (it's vacation, after all!), and we still had a good time. But it was still inconvenient, and waiting is what I remember most about Pirates Island, not the game. read more

Solid 36 hole design. The courses are always clean and utilize some nice elevation. The place was mobbed but play moved along nicely. Under 3 is free. Went with our son who was 4 and this is the first time he was actually able to finish. They have 2 courses that wind together. 1 captain kids is the one we did. Not to sunny. They had some shade. Great for family it was $8.50 per adult. Only thing that would make it better is if they had more pirate stuff. Only had fishing nets. read more

For the person complaining about the employees not enforcing the group limit...look at the review left by the group who was asked to split up LOL - they called her a bitch!! I've never experienced anything less than top-notch customer service here. The employees are always kind, super polite, and professional. The courses are lovely and fun to play. My family and I decided to go mini golfing for the first time tonight, but we had a horrible experience. This place would have been great if their customer service wasn't so shitty. Everyone there seemed as if they hated their job, and didn't want to be there. No friendly greeting, nothing. Their workers are extremely rude and do not know how to speak to their customers in a proper manner. At the beginning, we were rudely told to move aside. A simple, "excuse me, would you mind moving aside so people can get around you. Thank you." Would of been nice. However, that wasn't the case we were basically shoved onto the grass by one of the female employees. And towards the end of the night, another employee, Miss. Emily P. Came over to our hole, and told us that people were complaining about our group. Not sure who, would have complained considering the family behind us was still 2 holes behind. But apparently we were taking forever and that our group of 7 was too large. Keep in mind there were families larger than our group, so I don't get why we were specifically targeted. We were told that we had to split in two. Which we completely understood afterwards, considering we were never told the rules and we also explained that we WERE playing in two separate teams. We were at hole 17. Our first team had already played but was waiting for hole 18, as there was still a family there. Emily approached us when, the family had left and we weren't aware. What I am disappointed about is the fact that, we simply tried to ask her, a simple question AFTER.... And she kept interrupting us by saying "I DON'T CARE! You broke the rules." She wouldn't even let us finish our sentence, and kept repeating that she didn't care. All we simply wanted to ask, was, if we had skipped a hole because there was about 5 groups in line at one of the holes (signs read, pass at your own risk), if we could go back to it. But didn't even get to ask because she kept telling us the she "doesn't care." Nothing about her approach was pleasant and definitely not polite. A proper employee would have just explained to us what the rules are and politely ask us to follow them. Rather than constantly telling us we broke the rules and that she doesn't care about what we have to say. At that point we got frustrated and one of us said "I'm just trying to ask a question, you don't have to be a b*tch." I am aware that it was wrong that one of us insulted her but she is the most disrespectful employee I have ever encountered. She also then tried to retaliate by accusing him for being rude and a sexist since he called her a bitch. If she had been polite when she had approached us to begin with we wouldn't have had a problem. As we left we asked for their phone number, so we could simply speak to management and she continued to be rude towards us. She said it wouldn't matter what we would say to management because, once again, we broke the rules. I have worked in management for 3 years at my current job, and I have never witnessed anyone behave in that kind of manner. Just because you're having a bad night, doesn't mean you can take it out on your customers. After, a night like this, we are definitely taking our business elsewhere. read more
