I would give them a 6 star if I could. Sabby is the most amazing person. Our dives with Pennecamp were canceled the day before we left due to winds and high seas. I am so glad they let us know and Tom there suggested Pirates Cove. My husband and I went out with them in 2019 and it was a good experience. Sabby was on it from day one trying to get us out. She knew our 11 year old grandson had gotten certified in SCUBA for this trip. On Friday, she got us booked with a sister operation Horizon and we got to experience our grandson's first dives in the blue with him. She is wonderful as is the rest of the staff there. Had a great time snorkeling last Monday with the Pirates Cove crew. Seeing all the fish at the John Pennekamp Park coral reef was amazing; many different species of colorful fish, and frequent barracuda sightings. Some people also saw a sea turtle and sting ray. We snorkeled at two sites, one with a submerged Jesus statue. Although we were only in 10-20 feet of water, the water was so clear that we could've seen the bottom clearly if it had been much deeper. They provide inflatable life vests that you can put just enough air into to give yourself a little extra buoyancy. They also provide swim fins, masks and snorkels. The ride out and back to dock was pleasant on their large pontoon boat. The boat captain and "Scuba Steve" really made the trip fun. They kept it lite and fun the whole time, cracking dad jokes and goofing on each other. I'd absolutely go snorkeling with Pirates Cove again! read more

Taking this tour was one of the biggest regrets of my life. I booked this excursion with my boyfriend because it was his first time visiting the Keys, and we were really excited for the experience. Unfortunately, from the moment we arrived, things went downhill. It took over 30 minutes just to get everyone situated, and before we even left, we were told we couldn't go to the destinations originally planned because of the weather and rough water conditions with 2-3 foot waves. Once we finally started the tour, the ride was extremely rough. At the first location, the water was so choppy that they decided to move us somewhere else. During this entire time, the boat ride was incredibly aggressive and uncomfortable for everyone onboard. When we arrived at the second location, the conditions were even worse. The waves in the middle of the ocean were 8-10 feet, and although people were encouraged to get in the water, it was nearly impossible to snorkel. The location itself was disappointing with very little marine life, and the waves were so intense that you were being pulled in every direction. Almost everyone on the boat got sick. More than half of the group with a total of at least 30 ppl were throwing up, including a pregnant woman onboard.People were miserable, yet we still weren't leaving the area despite how dangerous the conditions felt. My boyfriend and I both had really bad episodes of throwing up where i nearly almost passed out. Honestly, someone could have gotten seriously hurt. We trusted this company to make safe decisions, and I truly do not believe we should have been taken out on the water today. The captain also stated how we were the only boat to go snorkeling in Key Largo, which was a bit odd. It should've been canceled and refunded and not have happened. Instead of enjoying a snorkeling experience, most people spent the entire trip violently seasick. As someone born and raised in Miami, I'm fortunate that I can visit the Keys often, but I can only imagine how upsetting this would be for tourists or families visiting from another state or country who spent their vacation and money on this excursion. read more

We were in Key Largo at the beginning of October as we are every year. We decided to try Pirates Cove Watersports for our traditional sunset cruise. We ordered online for our tickets. It was $60 per person. It is not a dinner cruise. You can bring your own snacks and water. There were 8 of us aboard along with Captain Bobby. I have to give kudos to Bobby for pointing out all the wildlife, birds, and history of the area we sailed thru. He has a great sense of humor besides being very knowledgeable. We really had a fun time. There was a storm coming our way, which made our little cruise that much more exciting! Wear your boat shoes. We didn't need a jacket as it is still warm this time of year. If you have any physical difficulties, you will find that it is easy to get in and out of this boat. Plus, Bobby is very strong and will help you out! We will definitely return during our next trip to Key Largo! read more

A MUST DO for your list of things in Key Largo. We booked online the day before for the 10:30am eco boat tour. $60 each and well worth it. Check in at the shop is easy. Friendly girl checked us in. We were then greeted by Captain Bobby who took us out on a boat and it was an amazing experience. He stopped a few times along the way and pointed out marine life and explained a lot about the eco system. We got to see some manatees and a sea turtle. Cool birds. We had a fun day snorkeling with captain Brad. We were on the morning boat when there were 2-3 foot swells at the first snorkel sport and the captain and crew made us feel safe and well informed. It was awesome to see the different wrecks! The 2nd snorkel spot calmer and it had an abundance of fish right next to the boat so there was lots to see as soon as we jumped into the water! Everyone was so friendly and helpful here. If you were born before 1986 you have to take a permits test. They give you guide to study and then you take a test. If you don't pass the first time they let you redo it. The staff was so welcoming and give you directions on where you can and can't go. We did an hour and that was so much fun and plenty of time.
